Who knows, maybe if he tries hard enough, we might spare him today? (Maybe not)

My initial view of him as he entered our humble hut was positive. My current view is still positive, but I have a minor concern, namely that he swiftly voted for me at the slightest suggestion from DH that I am bad.

Now, I'm sure DH will tell you that I did the same thing when Sloonei told me I should vote for Marmot, but, you know, he was bad. :slick:

Yes, you know nutella better than I do, but predicting how she plays a role is circumstantial. I, conversely, don’t like hoarding cool powers, but sometimes I do.
I think balance would require that they both exist. As I said multiple times, I was at the front of the "Chuck is Bad" queue, but if he is not LC's teammate, I have problems with that. Either he is LCs teammate, or he is Nutellas target. Not both. I just find the opportunism disturbing. The thread based reasons for him being bad are totally contradicted by him potentially being Nutellas target. The moon comes out in the morning and the Sun shines at the North Pole on New Years day if Chuck is bad but not LCs teammate.

After I took flak for "railroading" LC, this readiness to turn on someone for a reveal in a game where nothing is known or predictable is something I find ill done.

And that's all I have to say about that.
I don't know if this was said, but nutella can't target her own teammate, and LC and nutella were teammates. Do you think nutella was not LC's teammate?

Excuse me if I am misunderstanding your argument.

Let's see if that changes as I continue to catch up.

I wasn't involved in killing Blooper, but I strongly suspect that whoever did kill her is laughing their asses off at the WIFOM they just created. I'm betting it's one of the older players who understands the couples meta. Coupled with sig's good point about a ballsy scum team being willing to NK their own for the wifom...

Marmot needs to show up and give us something to chew on. Wilgy has also been super blendy so far. About the only thing we've gotten from him is some gentle needling of Sloonei based on a point made by Scotty. And a cryptic comment about Kyle — why is he a "hero and patriot" for voting Blooper?

I also have an eyeball on Lorab right now. "Ugh. I have no idea where to vote. I don't actually suspect anyone" at the end of Day 1 is so noncommittal, then she votes Sloonei for "peer pressure" and the active voices in the thread don't really get on her for that lack of reasoning. She then jumps in, first post of Day 2, to begin the WIFOM about me and the Blooper kill.
I just came across this post from Boomslang. Everything I've read from him up until this one I've like (and even parts of this one I like).

In regards to the "couples meta", I don't think Boomslang knows quite what that is. In my experience, Epignosis/Elohcin and Long Con/Black Rock avoid interaction and reading each other early in games, and also generally don't kill each other off early on in the case where one is scum and one is civilian.

Betting on one of the older players to is a broad suspicion, especially if no names are named.

Also, asking me to show up and give him something to chew on? You've only made one post today Boom. :pout:

Marmot wrote: Sat Mar 03, 2018 12:59 pm Boomslang, who're you voting for today?

Why do you require a read on yourself from nijuu?
Still not 100% sure, but I could get behind a Wilgy vote. Based on posting patterns, I'm guessing either that he's bluffing or that Scotty/Blooper got a silence as their second role. I already didn't like his comment about killing himself before Bloops, and his response to my analysis of JoH was weird. He said I'd thought about Jack more than he had, then never responded why he thought Jack was good himself.

Therefore, I think a WIlgy lynch would give us good information. Imo, there's a not insignficant chance that he's bad, and if he's not, then I think we get valuable intel about Scotty/Blooper's targeting thoughts.

As for wanting Blooper's read on me? All in good time, my marmot.
linki: There it is! Much obliged.
I'll still take that reason for wanting a read from Blooper that you promised.

That's an unfair accusation (and one I can't defend against).

As you can see, that role was a limited time use. I wanted a new role.

If I understand your theory about nutella, S~V~S- that nutella didn't know she would die and would be holding on to her ability- I would argue that, from my perspective at least, nutella did not look engaged since LC went down. Might she have figured that she was likely to be lynched sooner rather than later? Wouldn't she have targeted speedchuck, who was unlikely to be lynched, hoping that the hosts would "confirm" his affiliation? If that was the case, then couldn't her shot have backfired for her in "clearing" a mafia speedchuck?

Epignosis wrote: Wed Mar 21, 2018 4:41 pm If I understand your theory about nutella, S~V~S- that nutella didn't know she would die and would be holding on to her ability- I would argue that, from my perspective at least, nutella did not look engaged since LC went down.
Can I emphasize something?

The above case is the only way that I am scum.
It doesn't make sense for nutella to implicate me like this, and it doesn't make sense for me to try so hard to save LC as his teammate. I was mathematically near-confirmed town with my first role, and I freaking hold to that. If you think I'm scum with LC and Nutella, then that's your problem, not a problem with the setup. You are bad at mafia.

So let's assume for a second that I am on Strex, and that nutella was trying to condemn me and accidentally hit a scum. That's the theory.
First of all, lol. This totally ruins my theory of Strex only being in Cerberus (to explain the nightkills). On top of that, I would have caught LC's slip originally, and believed it. Scumchuck would be a scumhunter too, in this game. ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I'd have freaking killed Dom and DH already for their sarcastic pursuit of me, if I could convince my team. It doesn't make sense for me to be Strex.

Sorry, got sidetracked. Real point following.

Assume that I, speedchuck, am Strexcorp. Do you think that BOTH LC and Nutella would target me with their alignment flip roles? LC before his death, and then nutella later?
Why?
I certainly can't think of a reason.

All this to say: When I flip town tomorrow night, freaking believe it. Use it. Thanks.
I'm bad at Mafia? :confused2:

The entire purpose of that post is to challenge S~V~S's perspective about nutella for the purpose of gaining clarity. I certainly do not think you are bad with LC and nutella, because nutella could not use her ability on you. My intention is to eliminate what possibilities I can reasonably eliminate and sort out what I think happened from what is left.

S~V~S wrote: Wed Mar 21, 2018 6:08 pm Oh good thing I checked, I thought the poll ended TONIGHT! I did not realize the poll was completely restarted and ends tomorrow.

Linki @ Epi, I still think Chuck might be bad with Nutella, and I am OK at Mafia :noble: I also think the reveal in the thread is the one he will flip as, becasue I don't think Nutella targeted him. I think it possible LC targeted him, and LC alone. I was hoping to have more time to explore this possibility (I was in the middle of starting this when Nutella flipped and all opportunistic illogical hell broke loose) but of course that isn't going to happen now. And I could be wrong, and there is no way of knowing it until games end. It's why I asked the hosts if we would be told if a team is eliminated and they said, not surprisingly, no. But I still have major issues getting over how aggressively he defended LC.

Chuck is a charming and lovely adversary and I would Mafia with him all day long. But at this point, I still view him as an adversary. I guess I should be pleased about all of this, lynching someone I think is likely bad is lynching someone who is likely bad. But I think we will learn nothing, and probably create opportunities for his Cerberus teammates to get cred and skate. But I dislike lynching someone for the wrong reason, and I firmly believe this is the wrong reason.

I know I am a Cassandra shouting in the wilderness, but meh. I'm used to it. :cloud9:

Linki @ Daisy, Thank You :D
The problem with thinking LC fiddled with speedchuck's role is that for LC's ability to take effect, speedchuck would have had to die. And speedchuck did not die before LC got his second role.

Why'd you call them his "Cerberus teammates?"

Joy, I expect to be Haikued tonight :suspish:
So the bad flipper and the good flipper were both on the same tribe?
Maybe. It just doesn't make sense for Nutella to have used her one shot role that way at that time. They would have saved it when it could help them, not someone else. The way that was timed it was either someone who trusted or suspected Chuck and wanted it out in the open once and for all.

I don't buy Nutella using her one role power that way at that time, nope. Nutella is a tight player, she hangs onto her goods, she doesn't have that use it or lose it mentality some do. I do not buy it.

Nope.
But like when would she use it where it would be more helpful? Because as far as I’m concerned, it’s not the most useful role for mafia, is it? It’s like a reverse cop. But the cop is drunk and tells everyone and once the cop dies everyone knows what a detriment he was to the force.
Why would she, right after he helped save a baddie, and she had no inkling she would die soon, reveal him as a civ, rather than let the thread derail (and it would have) by people trying to lynch him?

It makes no sense. It is too easy of a conclusion to jump to, and if you read Pikachu, you KNOW how hot and heavy I was to lynch Chuck. If her role said she could have done it to a TEAMMATE I would be waving the pichfork harder and heavier than anyone else. But she couldn't, and I see no benefit to her using it on a baddie from another team randomly.

And besides, Nutella hoard her assets, she is not one to just use it or lose it. There is no strategic value for her in faux revealing Chuck unless she knew she was going to die.
You keep taking for granted that Nutella's team knew Speedchuck's alignment.

I don't know where you are taking that from.

For all we know, they thought he was a civ and tried to frame him. Or at the very least, they gambled on the high possibility he was a civ.
This.

The way I see it, nutella used her power on someone almost universally considered a civilian to make him look bad.

Only lookie there. He's actually bad.

That makes the most sense to me at this stage.

insertnamehere wrote: Thu Mar 22, 2018 4:01 pm Alrighty, finally caught up.

Firstly, can someone tell me what the fuck "Bidoof" means?

Secondly, reading through the whole Speedchuck thing feels like randomly tuning into some later season of a heavily-serialized TV show, and trying to mentally fill in the gaps. Unfortunately, despite S~V~S being super duper earnest, I have to side with the dull, boring, rational, Occam's-Razor-y DH and DDL on this one. He's probably where my vote's going tomorrow.

Thirdly, Scotty. @S~V~S, you were pretty sus of him due to all the Day 5 shenanigans. Here's my perspective. Scotty, JoH, and Sloonei were all desperately pushing towards lynches at any costs at this point in the game, which was tricky due to having no real flips or info to go off of. Their solution seemed to essentially be playing spin-the-bottle with whoever either disagreed with them or hadn't posted in a while. Boomslang, who is my current top civ read, disagreed with them, and has been relentlessly pursued because of it.

Sloonei and Scotty had a case against me, which they themselves admitted was BS. Nevertheless due to a mixture of apathy and inertia, I began picking up votes. I wrote up a case against sig, which was based on actual, y'know, stuff, and that managed to shift their attention.

At the time, I was nervous that a scummeister could be using the pressure towards a lynch with more voters than Pikachu's to frame civilians.

The fact that this push to beat Pikachu's numbers happened at the same time as LC was about to be lynched over there, well, it don't look great.

Out of the three (relatively) hyper-active players pushing towards a lynch, Scotty's the one that looks the worst to me. JoH is dead, and Sloonei has seemingly calmed down a hell of a lot when the button got pressed. Scotty's the one who first made the switch when I protested against my lynch and offered an "easier" alternative.

This is all not to imply that I don't still suspect sig. As I said over at NuCerberus:
Like Quin said, there's a pretty decent chance that in a game this size that's this convoluted, (I know, I'm one to talk) there are multiple baddie teams. Even if sig's "wagon" was bolstered by an attempt to save LC's bacon, that doesn't discount any of my suspicions of him. Plus, sig had an extra life at that time, and I could see a baddie team not really minding bussing a member with two lives to try and save someone else.
Fourthy, Wilgy. I don't think Wilgy is bad. I think Daisy's meta case against him is hollow and kinda judgmental. I don't like Scotty and company latching onto him as an easy target due to his inactivity. The fact that vote after vote has been cast at him today makes me pretty sure we aren't gonna get anything out of his lynch. But, as S~V~S said, the dude's super-busy, and can't be replaced anytime soon. That's enough for me to sigh and add my twig to the Wilgy bonfire. Plus, I'd be super pissed if Boomslang got lynched today.

[VOTE: WILGY] aubergine
I’ve made many references to Bidoof after we learned the other tribe was named Pikachu, if you were reading along.

I don’t have time to answer to this right now, but first and foremost-

How the hell is Boomslang one of your TOP civ reads? Like, what has given you that indication because I’m dumbfounded how he is the Abraham Lincoln to, say, Sloonei’s Calvin Coolidge. It just isn’t a thing. Those roles should be reversed.

Anyway, off to work. I’m not liking your entrance and it’s not because you’re suspicious of me

The allegation is that wilgy is an even while marmot was strexcorp, so they wouldn't be teammates anyway. I forgot about that when I was ponderin'.
My thinking is this:

If that was a civilian role, I would be less likely to cap its kill potential given how many lives are in existence. There is a condition that has to be met before a kill can even be carried out.

If that was a mafia role, the mafia already have a regular kill at their disposal, so capping the potential body count at one makes a lot of sense.
