sofi comes from lostpedia, like a lot of us did. I think she played on hedville and RM a little too. I don't remember a lot of the specifics, but she's definitely not new.

i also don't think we should be so relaxed about roleclaiming. doing it helps the mafia narrow down who frodo is, and the role list also has additional civ roles "intended for mafia claims" so i don't think roleclaiming should even necessarily be a reason to trust someone.

I'm bad cus I've read the roles and have thought about the negative consequences of roleclaiming in this setup, instead of blindly rushing in?

like to be clear that had pretty much nothing to do with you. the only part of it that referred to your actions was the last part about trust. i could already tell what you were doing with your thing about nutella, whether you are or aren't Merry is irrelevant.

I also want to add that if anyone ever sees another player claiming their role, it's probably best to not say anything since the only players who can't safely claim their own roles are probably Gandalf and Frodo.

I'm sorry, Kyle, but you got that one wrong. There are thirteen non-Frodo-or-Gandalf roles, and only ten of them were given to civ players. We have no way of knowing whether or not mafia members received specific civ claims, or if they'll just have to try and choose wisely. Only the mafia members know this. I don't like that you seem to firmly plant yourself on one side,

it seems like a safe assumption that the mafia would be set up with specific roles to claim, why else would there be exactly 3 spares, and not like... 6 spares or even more spares? What would be the point of allowing role-claims and giving the mafia exactly one fake role each if they just have to guess what it is. The game would be solvable in a single day, that's not fun.

I pretty much assumed it was that way based on context but nutella pointing out that there has been historical precedent for that kind of thing made me more confident in my assumption.

He opened the game up by claiming to have a role power that doesn't actually exist to get a reaction out of Nutella, which I think... leans him slightly towards civ. slightly. I don't think I'm alone in saying that it's a treat to get to play with you, so I hope this sentiment is not permanent. I think we can all find a place where your personal convictions do not interfere with gameplay with more experience.

also this^ I wasn't trying to push you to break your new conviction to not say "I am town". I wanted a confirmation of the existence of that conviction that came from you instead of from Sloonei. I respect the concept of trying to change and improve your meta and escape from a limiting tendency, but it seemed strange that Sloonei was defending you about it and you weren't.

i didn't remember glorfindel saying he wouldn't claim before until sloonei brought it up, i don't remember every single thing that everyone says. my initial push on glorf was for the reason of testing to see if he would do the thing he always does, which he hadn't done yet. But after Sloonei brought up his post from the previous game, and started defending glorfindel, (while glorfindel wasn't defending himself) my reason for questioning changed.

Are you questioning me for providing an explanation of Glorfindel's behavior?

The fact that you explained his behavior once was fine, but even after that, you were giving Glorfindel opportunities to not have to explain himself, or his attempted change in meta. Why not let him speak for himself? Why was it important for you to be the one to do it?

Did you have a read on Glorfindel before he made his "I am town" post?

no, I put my vote on sofi cus I wanted an explanation for her vote on Glorfindel which cited me as a source of confidence. She's still a suspect, but I don't want to lynch her today.

I've been trying to get out of my meta of only ever voting last minute. I think it will improve my effectiveness as a player.

good question... i want to look back through LC and LA's posts since they've been brought up by others. I think a meta-dive on rabbit may be beneficial as well.

Well like i get that, and I don't ever lie to people I care about but even in real life there's situations where it's better or easier to lie than to tell the truth. People ask too many personal questions, far too casually sometimes, and real truths have be earned. It's not my job to make sure people know things about me.

Reading through nutella's posts.... some of her things early on were sketchy, but later on she basically went through the same exact mental journey toward understanding Glorfindel that I did.
