Wait, the poll won't let me vote after clicking "see results". Usually I can just re-load the page and then vote. Will this be a thing with the game that I should be aware of?

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
Long Con's posts strike me weird. He apparently didn't read the rules or his role pm, and instead askes all game-mechanic questions in thread. Concerning the mafia recruitment aspect, he asks: It's still up for grabs?
Then posts a bunch of questions on how to approach this game: What are we dealing with here? How do we even mafia in this game?
Then asks, "have recruitment decisions been made?"
But then suddenly understands everything well enough to place a vote on speedchuck based on his game mechanic questions.
I don't view Long Con as being an ignorant player, which is why all his questions confuse me. Is he bad and trying to look like an ignorant townie? Or is he really that bad at reading the rules? I would be okay with voting Long Con today.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
So you claim you were attempting to set scum traps with your questions? Or just get discussion flowing? If the latter, I would rather have discussions about players and their posts and reads, than game mechanics. Discussing mechanics is always a good distraction from the more important discussions at hand.Long Con wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:55 pmThis is sketchy, and a stretch, on the reread. It's a sktretch.Spoiler: show
It's more wishy-washy and noncommittal than water. Are you trying to be Switzerland here? Are you trying to catch baddies or be Involved In A Discussion? You cast a vote, which I can only assume is supposed to look like pressure, and then you proceed to post with as little pressure as possible on me.
And, I just have to focus on this sexy piece of blather: "This does reflect a pattern in Long Con's posts where he starts off in apparent ignorance of the game mechanics and then works his way up." Disappointed us when it wasn't a revelation-filled-look-at-past-games kind of pattern, but just you saying you see some pattern in the four posts Luna quoted. I can look at the horse picture behind my monitors and see, in the horse group, black-black-white-black-black-black-white, and yeah that's a possible pattern, and no it doesn't mean anything. PLUS, now it's maybe-suspicious in your world to move from ignorance to understanding as time progresses? Or are you Billy Pilgrim, displaced in time and confused about how I could have understanding at one point in time, and also have ignorance at another? We live in a linear world, buddy. Also, I was never ignorant of the answers to my questions, just to reiterate.

This was not well received as comparisons to his Sloonei treated a mafia partner would necessitate Colin also being mafia in this game. Ergo, Colin’s case on Sloonei is fake. Ergo Colin is scum.

Nice analysis Jack. I would bet there's at least one mafia among the low/lazy-posters. We should look into DFaraday, Dom, Dr. Wilgy, Alien, K-Ness, Kylemii, Marmot, Simon, Speedchuck, Soneji, and sprityo.
(ignoring White for now. they aren't even playing)
That is sort of a long list, but I think it's a good place to start. I'll add my own analyses later.

So... either Mega-Man dying caused a bad guy's condition to trigger (way to rub salt in that wound), or Jay/Colin were townies that died and caused the bad guy to trigger (still sucks), OR one of Colin and Jay were somehow bad and their role let them hit us hard when they were vigged. I had a scum role once that would roleblock every townie in the game the night after I was killed. Something like that.

Maybe some arrogant townie said COLIN IS DEFINITELY SCUM and had a one-shot power to trade a day phase for a free kill, sort of like a lynch controller but without the facadarce of votes and wasted day-phase time.
I've been ruminating.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Night 2]
Analysis post part 1:
Bullzeye gives his reason for voting Quin. He dislikes Quin's questions, and even after Quin provides a valid response, Bullzeye responds with basically "I'm going to say your response looks fake because I'm so set on voting for you." Not the best look.
DFaraday was definitely around on Sunday, but still hasn't bothered to engage with the thread until today. Could be legit busy, or mafia taking a back-seat role to avoid suspicion.
Dom has done very little other than vote for Eloh. Not a good look.
Dr. Wilgy checked in on day 0, but then forgot the game started until today. Nothing really to go on unless it's a brilliant mafia strategy of "just step away and pretend the game doesn't exist"
Soneji checked in on day 0 and hasn't been back. So I've got nothing.
Alien was actually quite active on day 1, but hasn't been back since. On day 1, Alien left his vote on Mac, even though he previously read "Jack is town, sloon is mafia, mac is slightly suspicious but not as much as sloon, same with eloh" I don't like his back-tracking here.
Marmot called me out for calling him an inactive. He actually has been fairly active, but he still hasn't said all that much.. Maybe it's just his playstyle, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marmot turned out to be scum.
Not done, but posting this for now. I'll finish up later this evening.

I'm not bad.Sloonei wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:36 pmBecause I don't like this case one bit and I want to figure out if I believe sprityo or not.speedchuck wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:33 pmWe've got *looks at watch* like 30 hours left. Why don't we talk about something else?Sloonei wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:30 pmI guess, but like, don’t we always look at a person’s suspects after they’re nightkilled? Am I not allowed to make these comments? I was wary of bad guys poking at me and wanted to pre-emptively address that. Is sprityo even considering the other side of his argument?speedchuck wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:15 pm Sprit's case is that Sloonei is trying to control the narrative, as soon as Mac died. Nobody else had suggested, as of that point, that Mac's death implicated Sloonei. He was pre-emptive about it. That suggests forethought, though it doesn't necessitate it. It also paints a picture of a guy who is very aware of the WIFOM involved in Mac's death, and who understood the strategy from both sides.
Yes?
My vote's still on Luna. Care to comment?

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
Just some context you're missing: I voted Nova when Nova was still one vote ahead of Eloh. I left the site after placing my vote. Did you know the site shows people as "online" for as long as 15 minutes after they have been away? I wasn't able to check the lynch status again until a couple of hours later. That is why my vote remained on Nova. If I had been present, I would have moved my vote to whoever I needed to to save Eloh.Sloonei wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 10:24 pm I've already highlighted these posts, but I want to bring them back up again. This all occurred in the midst of the chaos at the end of Day 1:Luna shows up and sees that nova suddenly has votes on him.
She does her homework and decides that he's a viable lynch option because, unlike Eloh, he hasn't contributed much.
When pressed for elaboration, she restated the emptiness of his posts and put some blame on him for his effort. Looking back at this post in particular now, I do not like that second sentence one bit. It seems to both acknowledge that nova is town while also absolving her for contributing to his mislynch. "It's his fault that I voted for him because he could have tried harder."
Luna, along with Colin, would remain on nova as Eloh was lynched. I don't like the ease and passivity with which she joined this bandwagon. One of the first things I look for when digging through End of Day posts is players who appear passive or timid. This is crunch time, and typically a townie wants to make the move that is best for them, so more often than not they'll be actively engaged in problem solving, even if that means expressing uncertainty. A mafia member will be more hesitant, not wanting to misstep anywhere. Luna's posts here have the look and tone of the latter.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
I suppose you could look at lynching an active, but low-content player as "easy," but I thought he made a fine choice for a day 1 lynch. Couldn't have been worse than lynching Eloh.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 3]
If Sloonei were scum I would like to think his LAST target would be Mac. Would scum be so bold as to actually kill someone who told them "just kill me?"sprityo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:50 pmSpoiler: showMacDougall wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 7:54 amYou are asking me to play the game in ignorance of all my intuition and instincts?
Just kill me. Dr Manhattan taking out Rorschach style.
That said, the only way a scum Sloonei would kill Mac would be for WIFOM. And what if no one noticed the WIFOM? Well lucky for you, you don't have to look too hard because Sloonei made it very clear that he felt targeted by Mac's kill.

You've just linked and summarized the entire case on Sloonei from both sides.

In short, yes. I suspect Sloonei.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Night 2]
I was starting to feel bad for suspecting Bullzeye for a lame reason, but then you just jump in and back me up. Why?Dyslexicon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 6:36 pmOh, hi! You. You are the one.Bullzeye wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 4:54 pmThis is such a generic criticism that it could be applied to nearly every vote in nearly every game ever. The majority of votes happen because one person suspects another and that person's responses don't satisfy the accuser. What one person finds valid, another might not. I didn't find his explanation believable.Lunalee wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 5:19 pm Analysis post part 1:
Bullzeye gives his reason for voting Quin. He dislikes Quin's questions, and even after Quin provides a valid response, Bullzeye responds with basically "I'm going to say your response looks fake because I'm so set on voting for you." Not the best look.![]()
