Themistocles is a legend among the Greeks, and for good reason. He was a brilliant politician, tactician, and diplomat. I often balk when historians or enthusiasts attribute immense influence or credit to individual people, as it can be so easily overstated. In the case of Themistocles though, it is hard to deny the truth. He is probably my favorite person in history period. If time permits later in the night phase I will share a little more about him. It will be for flavor and theme and unrelated to game matters.

Night 1 begins now. You have 23 hours to send me your night actions, and the phase will end an hour later. The thread has been unlocked.

hey it's your boy guin here to save the day or not idk let's figure it out as we go along

From what little reading I did as a spectator, I dislike wolbre for this post. Big NO U. The only reasoning I can see for this vote is that wolbre doesn't understand Epi and therefore finds him bad.

D1 is purely conjecture on my part until someone does something overly messy to me, but Golden and Mac seem to be interested in leading the pack and being outspoken
This is fine of course, but the later the game goes, the more I consider whether they are just leading us right into the fire
"The later the game goes the more I consider whether" means you are assured you will be around later to act on this seed.

And the fire is not dangerous if you cannot be led to it.

Meh. I think killing Epi links it to no one. That’s the only basis for the kill to me, as well as avoiding the doctor (I think there is one of those in this game). Like, he’s the one of the least obvious kill choices mafi would make.

Also why would they be “frustrated”? It’s not like he was making waves in the civ department.

I don’t yet like your entrance, Quin

These four read quite team-compatible to me. Lots of links between their behaviours that could make sense. I’ll elaborate when I get time but generally pressed for time on long explanations right now - but anyone else who feels like grabbing the ball, I think this is a good set of four to examine in the collective.
Golden wrote: Thu Apr 26, 2018 7:48 am OK so like, some random case-ish but not actually case thoughts on my proposed solution to the game.

I'm looking forward to sloonei saying his stuff on me because I always get a better read of how genuine people are being when they are talking about their perceptions of me. In any event, I agree entirely with Marmot that sloonei has been a little cautious in his reaction to my suspicion, almost like he's dodging dealing with me. I don't like.

There's quite a few things I don't like about the sloonster actually - he feels right off the mark, and I don't think it's just 'busy'. I think his 'energy' to 'content' ratio is off kilter. I really dislike his Nova vote. So much of this is gut but my gut is screaming.

Sloonei's voted for Colin in a way that feels out of context. Colin voted for Lunalee in a way that felt meaningless. LC has soft defended Colin and Sloonei. Lunalee seems to be tunneling on me which I don't object to so much in principle except it feels like there's not much there for how sustained it is. The suspicion started just after I called out LC, having already called out Sloonei. If Luna is bad, she's first time bad, and this is the kind of subtle misstep I could see someone making in their first time out. Nothing big, just a little timing. Basically I'm proposing a good chunk of distancing plus a good bit of whatever the opposite of distancing is.

Besides that, the overall interactions between the lot don't fill me with much confidence. There's plenty in there (like the soft defences), but even little interactions like this make me tingle a bit:

Excuse me but Golden is voting for me.
Hey, I saw him first!

But I refer to a past vote.
That's my thoughts. I'm leaving this here and going to bed.
I looked at both of Sloonei's votes (in ISO, mind so idk about timing) and have no idea what "out of context" means. Day 1, he puts down a pressure vote on Colin and moves it later. I wouldn't expect him to leave it. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Day 3 he voted Colin after a criticism of his vote. What am I missing?

I don't believe that me finding a game or two when I was Civ and you thought I was bad is going to change anything. I don't have time to go delving into the Museum of Mafioso just so you can stick to your guns.
I don't either, because a 'game or two' is certainly insufficient to demonstrate that 'I'm wrong about you far more than I am right'. It just demonstrated I'm not always right.

I'll cop to that for free. I wasn't playing in the GoC, but if I was, I wouldn't have been calling you out as bad before your slip. I never claim to be always right about you. I'm not even always right about MP, and I read him right nearly every time. But to suggest I don't read you well, generally speaking, is an untruthful suggestion.
I hear what you're saying, but right here, right now, really flies in the face of that belief.
Well we'll see about that. I've always said I need three or four full days to get a handle on you, I haven't had that yet, who knows where I'll be then. I do admit I can see both sides of this one. You are doing some stuff that looks very much like your baddie self, but I'm not going to pretend my opinion is impregnable. You fit least well in to my team of four, and there are aspects of your play that remind me of genuinely frustrated town LC.

If sloonei was lynched and came back bad, I'd certainly have other fish to fry before I came back to you.

Just for you Nova.

The highlights.

I am confident that was a townslip by dunya.
Marmot doesn't kill Epi night one.
Scotty is consistently saying things that make sense to me.
I like Nova's effort.
Turnip Head dropped a bit because I have concerns about his effort.
Golden is mixing me up with the fact that we share lots of opinions but he is just persistently pinging me
MP7 gets less pingy the more sustained his presence is. Every time he disappears and reappears he goes through another cycle of pinging me.
I just gut read Choutas as town. His posts seem genuine.
Very null on those speedchuck through spacedaisy. Bet your ass there are scum laying low in there, especially since every single one of them can do way better than they are. Coasters.
wolbre would be lower but I am using discretion based on him being new to presume I am pinged by him for that reason.
Lunalee is a ping machine.
Colonialbob has pinged me since he entered the game.
Colin drops below Sloonei because I think it's possible Wolbre infoslipped on him. Long Con is above them because of the three he has had the most scum hunting effort shown and I kinda liked his back and forth with Dom.
Are you implying that I outed him as a teammate? I'm not sure what you're trying to say aside from the surface of Sloon I can provide
No I think there is a chance that you have info on him and then blatantly said you did and have backtracked since then when someone pointed out it was against the rules.
Oh lol
I think Colin's team simply doesn't have the energy or motivation to try and dig him out of the wagon pit without doing something brash tbh.
The longer this game has gone on the less I dislike Slooneis play. Not that I necessarily LIKE it more, but it's shifted itself away from a gut read scum to a somewhat educated null (maybe leaning scum slightly?)
I don't really know if I can soundly say I think Quin is maybe a scum because they mentioned that they had limited time and were behind and catching up (They may just be responding as they go?)

Day 1, he puts down a pressure vote on Colin and moves it later. I wouldn't expect him to leave it. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Day 3 he voted Colin after a criticism of his vote. What am I missing?
Quin (holy shit it feels good to be able to actually type his name again, no more Kwin for me) doesn't suspect me for my Day 1 vote of Colin. Thank you quin.
Quin wrote: Fri Apr 27, 2018 8:20 am im voting colin because i still don't have an answer to as why sloonei's colin vote look bad (it doesn't)
He joins the Colin bandwagon, though it seems more in defense of me than out of suspicion against Colin. I appreciate that, and given that Quin is a newcomer with a blank slate I like this look. If he's bad there's enough ammunition for him to pin a vote on me, and Quin has a history of suspecting me hard in games so it wouldn't even be particularly alarming. Townie point for Quin, absolutely no favoritism due to him being my only supporter in the thread.

Sorry I must have missed where that was questionable?
i wasn't around when it went down to have the same sense of whatevertermyouwouldusetodescribeaneventofsignificanceinthiscontext as everyone else. i'm calling things as i see them and i'm calling that sloonei's vote isn't suspicious and people acting like colin and sloonei are sure things is making me flip out.
Wrapped up in a larger point here is that Quin does not think Colin is a sure thing. But he voted for him on a day when there were really only 2 options. Still, I'm not actually seeing a stance on Colin from Quin. Somewhat understandable given his late arrival to this game, and I appreciate that Quin was not afraid to involve himself in the action right away. But his vote, again, was more of a defense of me than a suspicion of Colin. @Quin what were your thoughts on Colin as Day 2 unfolded?

Lean town on Quin.
I didn't have a stance on Colin. That's not what my vote was about though. I'd read into you re: Colin and didn't see any indication of a scum Sloonei so i voted in your favour. Very half-assed if you ask me. :nicenod:

also i retied it between you and him so i want extra town points for that please

That Lunalee thing is neat. That's the second potential teammate association I've seen including LC (first is Golden). Spooky.

Don't have the time to read into LC himself (it's almost 10pm and I'm catching up on the work I missed while I was out car shopping today), and I don't want to vote him because of what otherpeople have said.

even if all three sided with the Persians wouldn't the game still end once we lynch all 4 of the bad boys?

Golden wrote: Thu May 03, 2018 4:45 am [VOTE: Novaselinever] aubergine

I caught Colin red handed voting off wagon. The most likely reason for it is protection of someone or defence of Luna. Either could be possible, but I'm leaning toward protection right now.

This is a fairly uninformed read right now, so it's more of a signpost of my thoughts.

This feels like a forced vote. Earlier when you mentioned me, you said that I was playing my Town meta by being quiet but now it's opposite. Which is it then ?
Here we can get a glimpse from what appears to be sig calling him out on “coasting” as mafia previously, though nova sticks that up sig’a ass with a stick to smoke.

I don’t know his meta, but one could say nova has been “coasting” of late. After Colin got lynched, he’s definitely lost a bit of wind in his sails
I have been busy and I missed almost the entirety of D3 and the beginning of D4. I will also not have a lot of free-time until this weekend.

About D3, I announced my intention of pushing Lunalee before Colin's push since I believed that his vote for her D1 was a distancing vote on one of his teammate. A meaningless off-wagon vote. I also didn't like how she jumped on the Oracle's prophecy and tried to confirm herself with it, while ignoring my questioning her. That's why I left a vote on her at the start of D3, before leaving.

Now with the other prophecy mentioning her and town-reading her, I have my doubts and I think she is that role. She used the prophecy to save herself and hinting at her role. So I'm not too sold on lynching her today.

Last but not least, I would say that activity is non-alignment indicative for me. I'm being honest here and I've played several games here and players can attest to that. I have been seen " coasting " as Town in my previous games as Town here, and also in a game as scum.
I'm thinking about this. Hiding behind a prophet is a kind of pointless scum tactic considering the message is based on opinion. It's not a very good argument.

Thing is, I don't know either of them very well. Would scum Luna do this? Would town nova make this argument?

Also, "I announced my intention of pushing" puts me off. It seems rehearsed.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 4]

Colin's vote came across as genuine suspicion (or as close to genuine as scum can get) which makes me think he was trying to get a train going. Good look for her.

I thought she looked bad after her LC vote yesterday or the day before. Him being good, not so much. I might have the energy for a proper ISO tonight.

What about the timing of it though ? It was with I think less than 10mn left, so I doubt he was trying to get a train going.

What are your thoughts on SpaceDaisy ? My vote is currently on her and we had an interaction earlier tonight;
Was EoD1 chaotic? 10 minutes is enough time for that. If not, it doesn't make her look better but it doesn't make her look worse either.

I have zero thoughts on daisy.

There's nothing particularly wrong with a tie. If someone who is civ has 6 votes and someone who is bad has 5 votes, the civ will be lynched. If both have 6, there's a 50% chance that the baddie is lynched.
That also works the other way around.
