Yes, I read a bit of guilt in there. I still read it here. Nothing serious has happened, so there's nothing to feel guilty about having missed. Your guilt seems to precede your involvement in this game.

Throwing your vote around isn't the same thing as accepting "any reason on Day 1."

I am prone to hyperbole. But that's not far off from the truth. Just about anything can get my stamp of approval as a reason to vote on Day 1, because Day 1 is all about generating content for me. I find votes to be the most effective tool for doing this. Thus, manufacturing a reason to vote for a player is critical at this juncture of the game.

You're not going to vote for bob or mesk on Day 1, your words. Epignosis is a player who enjoys playing the opposition, I think, or at least he likes to make people uneasy in the thread. But to start this game he is advocating for two players instead. A hypotehtical player might see this and decide to create a conversation around it by placing a vote on him. I would approve of this action.

The whole point of poking is to make someone feel uncomfortable and cause them to react, right?

Well... What kind of reaction can you get by saying you trust someone? What would qualify as a baddie reaction to that.

Looking back I see that Jack asked for Spirityo's reads in the same post so that's probably what he meant by poking actually

Maybe Jack (or any player) wants to see how another player responds to the appearance of trust. Maybe sprityo accepts it unconditionally, maybe he rejects it and throws it back in Jack's face, maybe he is skeptical but open to it, etc. I don't know why Jack has done the things he's done, but I don't think it's a terrible play to announce trust early on. But like I've said already, I'm pretty open to any strategy that encourages activity on Day 1.

I will answer it by saying I subscribe to the maxim "Vote early, vote often."

Then I retract my eyeroll. But my stance on Epi was meant to slow the roll against him. We had a lot of people coming out against him and promising votes for something that I thought was worth noticing, but hardly worth an earnest suspicion at this stage in the game. I didn't want to see all the focus fall on him today. I'm not fence-sitting. I'm just being as cautious as I always am.

Vote changes are still relatively new here. They were a controversial issue for a little while.

I don't think Epi was trying to intimidate me, but I do think it's possible that he was trying to combat the idea of a negative image around him by attacking me. I think it's more likely that he was just trying to push my buttons to see how I'd respond.

I don't know why he started the game by naming two players he's not going to vote for today.

You can't do any such research unless you have access to old BTSC. I asked if anybody could point to a time I made some elaborate endgame-in-mind scheme on Day 1. Memory is all anybody needs for that.

But I can go ahead and say the answer to that is no, because it isn't how I operate. You can keep claiming I'm operating in a way I never have before if it's convenient for you.

This is the version of Epignosis that is tired of Long Con making shit up about him.

I'll grant you that this is not the first time I've seen this show. But Long Con is not the only player who's said things about you.

I don't like this post. In Pirates mafia (the one and only game I've ever seen Kyle play to this point), he was an active force early in the game. He's been more passive so far in this game, so I prodded him for reads. Five minutes later, he came out with this, absent of content but calling for more content from the newcomer. This post is fluff and an excuse to delay participation in the game.

Nutella hasn't always been super consistent as a townie in my experience with her. She'll speak her mind without regard for whether or not it all fits neatly together, and I've got no issue with that. I don't think I would vote for her based solely on her posts so far.

Oh, hello. I've been waiting to see how Epig would respond to LC's suspicion. Parts of his response have made me feel better but other parts have made me feel worse. In general any time an accused player (or an accuser) uses hyperbole or mischaracterizes the argument against them, it looks bad to me, and I'm seeing that with Epig rn, homing in on the reference to buddying as a "long term strategy" and claiming that LC knows who the Goods Boyz are because he referred to 3 players as civs. It argues against the words of the case without really fighting the spirit of it

LC... My number #1 priority in any game we're both in is to figure out where he stands. He's a skilled manipulator and scumhunter depending on what his situation requires. He is 8x better than me at everything I believe I'm good at and on some level I think i probably wanna be him when I grow up. LC is absolutely 100% nutsy enough to lead a lynch on day 0 regardless of whether he's town boy or a crime boy.

I'm not sure who else gave opinions on the issue other than you and Quin, I'd have to reread you both to give a good impression

Kyle didn't make anything happen D1 pirates. He came out good due to his vote but he was fairly passive and focused on meta. Like the kid said, he got called out for it.

I see that as making things happen. He was involved in the action of the game, even if it was just him getting a feel for people. That's still an action that forces people to discuss the game and their motives.

The point is I want to hear what Kyle thinks of things right now.
