Standard Rules:
1) Don't talk about the game outside of the game thread if you are not given permission to do so. I will modkill you.
2) Don't quote your role PM or try to discuss with wording or grammar. I will modkill you.
3) Days are 48 hours, nights are 24 hours.
4) This is a light game, so players have post counts. Players may post 60 times during the day and 30 times during the night. This restriction is lifted one hour before end of day. There may be roles that can exceed or lower these caps. If you go over your post count, I will probably be lenient and only make your action fail. But I might modkill you. Don't do it on purpose or repeatedly or I will modkill you.
5) You may character claim, role claim, and infodump with relative impunity. There may be roles that makes this disadvantaged, but this is also a fun game so roleplaying is encouraged. There is one exception. Do not talk about your decisions ability. See below for more details. If you have questions about this, ask me. I will be very forthcoming and will try to make these guidelines as clear as possible. I do not want to have to modkill anyone.
6) There are two factions in this game at the start.
7) Where applicable, non-town members get fake claims.
8) This isn't a rule per se, but don't try to match up flavor with roles. The flavor is flavor.
9) If you try anything angleshooty, I will warn you once. Then I will modkill you. Don't try to break the game.
10) Because of the busier season and tumultuous times in real life, there might be reasons for players to sub out. If this happens, I will request that subs are not discussed.
11) Mechanics:
a) Double targeting is allowed.
b) Self targeting is not allowed where roles don't allow otherwise, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
c) All names submitted by a player are considered to be targets of that player.
d) You will not be told if your action fails or is altered.
e) Ties in day polls will kill the weakest mind.
f) Majority is enabled starting day 2.
g) If you have questions, direct them to me via pm.
h) All actions are night actions unless obviously not night actions or as otherwise specified.
i) TSP order of operations: JK>[guided action]>busdrive/teleporter>controlled md>random md>roleblock>push>other actions, with time stamp being the determining factor should any other paradoxes occur. This only applies when the intuitive action solve doesn't exist or in any other way I am confused about why actions are broken.
12) SPECIAL MECHANIC: Every player in this game has a decision to make. That decision is listed in the role pm after the words "Decisions, decisions". Unless specified otherwise, these decisions must be made by the end of day zero.
IMPORTANT: these decisions may not be discussed in game. This serves two reasons. The first is that some cannot be easily falsified and thus would present the opportunity for clears. The second is that one of the purposes of this game is to force people to think about mechanics individually and privately. I don't want a big mass claim on day zero and then someone figures out what's optimal for everything.
That said, I am willing to lend my services as a mechanical thinker as necessary and can provide some gentle assistance in thinking through decisions if requested. And even if I choose not to provide assistance, it might be nice just to type up a few thoughts and recieve an answer of "hmm" back just to have a space to go over your thoughts.
13) Off topic in green, dead players may post one "aw shucks" post in red and then may continue VERY off topic conversations in red. Please don't push it.
14) The town wins by eliminating all threats to the town. The mafia win by reaching parity with the town.
