Hello all. Excited to see that the game is started and that there are already 9 pages. The Day 0’s of 5 years ago were just to check in and for nonsense. I really do love how you all just dive into the discussion.

I have to read everything still, and I know nothing of the theme. But as for the poll, early end time is always better for me since I am in the UK.

The last game I played one of these seemingly little suspicions found us a mafia day 1, so I’m willing to listen to them all.

Then that means the timezones don't matter

Depends on the situation. Doesn’t matter in so far as in most cases you can still say what you want at night. Unless of course, you are the one being lynched and unable to be around for time zone related reasons.
I always find a lot of discussion and activity happens right before the lynch, so I personally like to be present if possible. 6 or 8 PM EST I will probably be up for both so it’s not that huge of a deal for me either way. I’ve had games end at 10 or 11 PM EST and I would get way too invested in the game and be up in the middle of the night.

I’m reading the pages from beginning from before I started posting, while trying to stay up with the current pages since. I’m generally not very good at early scum hunting, which is why I admire all of your ability to start so quickly.
I tend to start by figuring out how I feel about players I know, as ones I have never played with before I have a harder time reading due to no available comparison.
Having said that, from the first half of my read the players I feel best about are you, Sloonei, and Falcon. You, just for a feeling of your town game. Falcon I felt genuine in attempts to start scumhunting right away. Sloonei, I also feel has been genuine. The only thing I didn’t love about Sloonei was the “isn’t anyone going to ask me about Alison comments” rather than just stating the reason for his suspicion, but I suppose he was probably asking to gauge responses in a way that my brain just doesn’t work.

What is a PR role btw? I apologise in advance to players who have never played with me before, but some of the terms have changed since I played 5 years ago. I was updated on a lot my last two games, and have already learned a new one this game which I gather from context means more than one mafia, but I’ll probably still need to ask a few. Sorry!

power role (anything non-vanilla, usually also non-harmful)

PR = power role.

Just a generic term for somebody having a role with some power, such as doc, cop etc.

Thank you both! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this one in past games, but you know when you see an abbreviation and your mind comes up with the stupidest things that it’s so obviously not

What's not to understand? I read your hypothesis for why someone would choose to post their vote, and thought about my reason, and responded. I didn't do it for good form, I did it because I thought it probably mattered to some players to know. Kind of similar, really, I think that's WHY it's good form generally: to make sure people know.

What there is to not understand is that I didn’t have a “hypothesis”. I just asked if people didn’t post their vote when they voted anymore. I never said you did it for good form. I said that in the past there was either a rule or it was considered good form. I was just establishing what is considered the norm now.

I’m feeling mostly good about Oddmerta’s content so far. Despite the current confusion of my question, I’m not sure I agree with LC being suspicious just posting his vote as that is Normal behaviour to me, but I don’t have a read on LC yet either way.

I’ve been playing with LC for quite a long time, and I’m also surprised at any early confident reads on him.

I read JJJ’s “not town reads” as “next town reads” and thought how many tiers of town are there on this list then I saw some of the names on it and double checked then realised my mistake

That was hopefully a once in a lifetime experience. My mafia paranoia has tripled as a result

I’m beginning to realise I’m going to have a hard time keeping up with this game with this kind of posting. I missed some day 0 pages that I planned on going back to today but I’m going to try these ones first as I’m guessing they will be more important

Why do I think that they will be more important? It’s just how I read the thread. More current first as that’s where the current discussion will be and some of the old page stuff will probably be reiterated on them. So I’m reading last nights pages, while trying to stay on the current page to discuss, then if I get time later today I’ll go back to the Day 0 pages.

For instance if someone had a suspicion during Day 0 that really stuck it’ll probably still be being talked about.

Up to page 24 now, I don’t agree with the suspicion of Jay (from TonyStarkPrime) and Alison (from staypositivefriend).
Both seem pretty townie to me right now.
TonyStarkPrime’s seems more flimsy out of the two, but I still have more to go. We’ll see

I’m also not really sure I understand the Marmot vote comment. It reads to me that it’s making him also suspect marmot while simultaneously suspecting jay.

I didn't really get that from TSP's post in regards to sussing marmot from the voting comment with marmot/JJJ, it read like he suspects JJJ for voting Marmot. It's worth noting though that TSP elaborated later that he didn't have a read on Marmot.

That makes more sense. I was confused why they would want to follow someone they suspected. I still don’t really like the vague suspicion of Jay, and I’ll need to see more about his later comments about Marmot that you mentioned, because I’m still not sure why if you don’t have a read on someone a vote against them would be a factor. But I’ll see how it’s explained as the thread progresses

@Esooa I still haven’t read everything yet. But I don’t have a problem with anyone suspecting someone I have a town read of, if the reasons feel genuine to me. It’s always good to question what we think in mafia, as it’s so easy to be fooled.

One reason mafia wouldn't vote together is that they don't want to be associated, but that's neither here nor there - your reverse question isn't pertinent.

I’m not saying this is exactly the same situation, but I definitely am rethinking what “mafia wouldn’t do” after that game.

Howdy splints, would you be willing to throw together a reads list for everyone, or at least name a top 3-5 town and top 3-5 mafia? It would help to frame your current view of business.

I still got lots of pages to catch up on, but I’ll definitely try to get to it today because I think I probably have a lot of neutrals still, so looking at the list might help me.

That's probably a good thing, but do you suspect two players that vote for the same player because of it, moving forward?

I wouldn’t suspect two players for ONLY the reason of voting for the same person

yes I know. His tone is way too serious, as if he's very much tryharding.

I think I’ve finally reached the one you were asking why i didn’t comment on.

If you haven’t answered it already - why is a serious tone a bad thing? Do you think a serious tone is abnormal for jjj?

I prefer more serious to more fluff posts, so I don’t find anything wrong with jjj posts, and I find the content quite normal and similar to other town games I have seen from him.

If you read TSP posts they are a bit all over the place in their feeling on Marmot. Suspecting you for your vote on Marmot, next calling their read on Marmot null, before voting for Marmot themselves.

Thanks for the list, splints. I isolated a few names that I'd be interested to hear more about when you have the chance.

Esooa and BoKnows are both my gut feelings based on how they played in Bee Mafia. Admittedly this is a limited comparison, so always could change. Especially since Bo deceived us all that game. I’m naturally a bit wary of any trust there now

JPIC - for now I just feel is asking genuine and insightful questions.

MacDougall - I recall a lot of people saying this is their town game, but I can’t recall why or any posts that strike me as particularly townie. Having said that, I don’t recall any that stood out as scummy either, so that ones more on the neutral side.

those two posts were enough for me to park my vote on him overnight and see how the thread played around it. i'm not sure about him being a wolf, but i do have some concerns about him. i am relatively lukewarm about his most recent posting

I don’t have a lot I can say to you feeling like I didn’t believe what I was saying. It was a quick post as I was just attempting to get started on reading the thread and figuring out how I was feeling about the players, and those three stood out most to me at that point from a vibes perspective. I tend to gravitate towards trying to read players I know first unless something stands out to me, which is why JJJ and Sloonei were some of the first as I played with them prior to my five year break and they seemed most obviously townie at that point. Falcon stood out to me for seeming to start the scum hunting, which I would find a mafia to be a bit more hesitant on.

As to the second part, I’m not sure what the strong reasoning you say I had was, as I was literally just trying to ask a question. I seem to talk to and about LC a lot in games. Perhaps there is just familiarity and comfort there, as I have been playing with him the longest. (Exception to Dom who is a no show but also comes from the same show forum as LC and me). I’ll always be wary of LC. He is a formidable player with a bit of a zany approach to mafia that can hide both his mafia and town game especially early before he is very invested.

Also, I don’t usually correct this but my pregnancy hormones are crazy today, so I’m a she.

I’d like to point out that those two games I played with you are literally the only ones in my mafia career that I was consensus town.

I’m still unsure what to make of tutuu/Hally. I don’t have any comparison to say whether the frustration was more likely town or scum. There were posts I liked, and posts I didn’t. The main one of didn’t coming to mind was the trying to paint either me or spf as having to be one of us as wolf, when there is a town/town possibility. Having said that I don’t know if the scummier moments are chalked up to different play styles, and I wasn’t planning on voting there today anyways so Hally has time for me
