Hi everyone! I will be reading back to catch up on what I've missed. I read through my predecessor's posts, not much there. [mention]tutuu[/mention] and [mention]Dyslexicon[/mention] can you tell me anything about why you see this slot as wolf? (It's town)

Ok I will be trying to stay current and read back, hopefully that won't be an issue.

On to Day 1. If anyone has anything they want to point out to me to be on the lookout for or give extra scrutiny to just let me know.

I need to take a short break. I'm up to this post and just wanted to make a quick comment. I didn't have as strong a reaction about ted being mafia until I got to this post and another like it that tutuu posted. It doesn't make sense to me that ted would want to post scummy on Day 1 coming off other games where he randed scum. I don't understand that, [mention]tedxtr[/mention] maybe you could explain. This weird disparity between the content of the post (clearly implying ted is scum) vs the tone (asking if she misunderstood, the qualifying language used) is kind of offputting to me. On the other hand if there's someone who talks to their scumreads like this it's probably juliet because that's just in her personality

Alison, I do talk to everyone like this when I play mafia and am trying to probe a read (town or mafia). I've witnessed too many misunderstandings between people because someone feels like the other is not showing them respect. You are quite right it's just in my personality. It's NAI, I do it no matter which faction I am.

i dont exactly love you coming back from your catch-up to echo the consensus townreads with no reasoning beyond "tone". it's fine if you tr these people but i hope to see more thoughtful analysis/reasoning from u

I will identify some things for each of them but not right this minute. I want to keep reading the current discussion for the moment and add more names if I can.

Here are some reasons for my town reads:

Mac -
- I liked his thought about Tim not pandering to him thus making Tim town. p#296
- Liked his "energy" town read on Dizzy p#297 and his town read on Wilgy for his response to tutuus fan fiction p#299
- Agrees with most but not all Alison's reads p#309 - doesn't just sheep her not taking the lazy way out
- Already quoted the ted read I thought was insightful even tho I've since backed off of ted a bit

Dizzy -
Dizzy I town read purely off his towny energy in really everything he's posted. He seems up front and honest about the fact he's going to slank this game as he's saving his himself for champs finals. (If I am wrong about my read Hally will correct me if she's town because she knows Dizzy's game. Also worth watching how Dizzy reads Hally for the same reason.) I will not be surprised if town Dizzy stops slacking as he becomes more invested in the game.

Sprityo -
I find that sprityo often has reads I disagree with early in the game when he's town and/or is kind of wacky and he has a devil may care attitude. He seems to indicate he's skeptical of Alison's town reads in p#550 even tho she named him as town. Next post tho he mind melds with her when she says he doesn't care that he's being scum read (I agree with her read here, he seems not to care). Then in p#582 he votes JPIC, then considers isoing him to see if he's scummy but ultimately decides he'll just sheep and slank. That's the town sprityo I know.

tutuu -
Explodes with town energy right out of the shoot and keeps it going right through the time she leaves. Tells a fun fan-fiction story - is this something a wolf would do? Early town read on Mac which I came to agree with her on. Adds Oddmerta who I am starting to lean town on. Ice cream flavors matched with players - again, is this something a wolf would do?

I'll be out of the thread for a little while but back tonight.

I find it ironic that you would imply my town leans were no good without explanation yet you scum read me without explanation. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you're tired or have other things to do but I would appreciate some kind of explanation when you have time/energy.

yeah it's because i had just finished figuring out my reads on the other 20 players and i didn't feel like going back and figuring out why my gut pinged you as scum

looking back, it's because i felt that your tone coming into the game was overly diplomatic and overly cooperative. it felt like you were trying really hard not to step on anyones toes. looking at your iso, i don't find you as scummy as i initially did because it looks like a personality thing instead of an alignment thing

Thanks for the explanation. It is a common suspicion of me so I do understand it.

the slot you replaced had been fairly scummy by default, and your posts so far haven't inspired me. Ok thanks. One thing that puzzles me is that you find my stilted tone to be indicative of a wolf read since I always have that same tone. One reason - as someone pointed out in another game - is I do not use a lot of contractions. Makes me sound stiff. Anyway, I appreciate that you will keep a somewhat open mind as we go forward.

Ok thanks nutella, I appreciate the explanation. You are right I don't feel like I'm fully in the game yet because I have not been here all that long. I'm sorry this post is so long, I have been catching up from overnight. I'll spoiler the first part which is my response to Ted.


Some miscellaneous thoughts from my catch up this morning (I lack about two pages catching up):

I believe Hally's read on dya is important if Hally is town, and I haven't seen anything that indicates she's not. Her read was: "i might be decent? they seem towny for them in particular just on vibe". Also dya indicates she is not a good Day 1 player - I empathize and don't want to vote her today.

Mac says later: "Coming around to dyachei being mafia here". [mention]MacDougall[/mention] you are someone in my top tier, can you talk to me about what you're seeing here? If you did and I just missed it just refer me to your ISO.

Mac on SPF: "3 votes on spf has me intrigued. I don't think I've seen a single post of hers that bothered me." I agree with this. Im having a hard time figuring out why people are scum reading her. Can anyone help me with that?

[mention]nutella[/mention] you quoted 3 posts by spf to respond to why you suspect her. You said they were "manufactured" reads I believe. Can you expand on that? One of the posts was a list of her reads - did they all strike you as manufactured? Can you be any more specific? My apologies if you did this somewhere and I didn't see it.

Mac post about JPIC: "He too lacks having made any effort to appear town. He would be doing a serious disservice to his team." One thing I just don't get about JPIC. He gave us two reads and that's it. He doesn't seem to be trying to solve. He voted himself. If he were wolf wouldn't he be trying to give reads, appear as trying to solve, not voting himself? If he's town wouldn't he be trying to give reads, appear to try to solve, not vote himself? I'm having trouble reconciling him. It's like he's not worried about being yeeted at all. I need to spend some time in his iso to sort him.

[mention]MacDougall[/mention]: "I'd probably turbo Juliets if I knew nut was town. If there's one person I'd trust to read Juliets it's her." Mac, remember that last game I played with nutella (I'll have to go find the name of it). She tunneled me mercilessly the entire game and finally convinced town to vote me. I was town. In addition, she was town. I think what she said about having trouble reading my tone was an honest take on her part.

SPF: "i do think that you're most likely town, so i'd ask you to keep an open mind and consider switching your vote so that i have more time to towntell & integrate myself into the game." I can't remember who she was talking to but this hit me as town and a fair thing to ask. I think we should give her time past today to do those things.

So, this morning I'm going to ISO nutella and JPIC since they and SPF are the wagons. (I've already decided I'm not voting SPF today unless there is something very damning from someone who reads her as wolf.) I have to take a little time right now to do some work but I will return late morning/early afternoon and also give you all a reads list.

also, she questions around for a tiny bit, but it seems like she is doing it for the sake of doing it. like the colin vote on ALison, seems like a easy post to question about. does she plays like this usually?

I questioned his post because it didn't seem like he had looked into her enough to form an opinion and she is one of my top tier town reads. I'm not sure what you mean by "an easy post to question about."

Nothing much has changed, I'd say timsup, staypositive, nutella and jpic are all on a team together. Jpic looks like a bomb to me

Alright I finished reading nutella and I have similar thoughts to others who have just posted about her iso. There's not a lot there except for her scum read on me. She did, however, argue that Dr. Wilgy is town and ted is town which I agree with. I think what dilutes the reads she does have is how many posts she has that are about nothing important, like the soup posts and the joke posts. They overwhelm her other posts imo and that smacks of wolfy behavior. Up your post count and be seen as a presence by posting a lot about nothing.

But here's the rub. Like others before me have said, if she is wolf where are her teammates? There have been plenty of opportunities to run up a wagon on someone else. Did they give up early and are bussing her or voting on off wagons? It just doesn't feel right and that's a concern I have, though I still read her as scummy. I will vote her for now but read some other folks that I have null reads on and evaluate them.

Also I'll put together a reads list and post it.

it wasn't really the specific reads themselves so much as the whole principle of the thing (though I think I did disagree with a decent chunk of the actual reads which didn't help). just her approach of listing all the players and writing a sentence and a gth about each felt like forced content.

Ok I see. I think I saw her make a list like that as town in sf 3 - if not maybe it was another game. It's very familiar to me coming from her. (Or maybe I'm crazy, lol!) It just read like a list of reads with explanations to me. TY for answering.

I have seen it before so I know the open slank refuse to play Dizzy can easily be town Dizzy. I have never seen wolf Dizzy but I have to assume he would be a brazen enough wolf to pull off the open slank, otherwise this would just be a truth tell. Go light town, but if someone wanted to chop him for refusing to play I couldn't argue.

Tim, just a note about Dizzy as wolf. I'm not super-experienced with him but I did wolf with him and then was helping to host a game where he was wolf and both times he was very try hard. He was a leader in both wolf chats and very involved in the game thread in both games. I don't have a big sample size but my experience is he doesn't slank when wolf.

I'm not sure whether you saw my reads list where I indicated I need to iso some people before I can put anyone else in my lean scum list. So, I can't answer your question right now.

So I ask you to tell me why you're town and you answer by saying I already know you're town because I'm a wolf, instead of pointing to towny things you may have done. That's not very convincing and I'm not a wolf.

Oh I see. I read ted as town and the only thing I saw that went against this read was your read on him. I do feel very confident that you and Alison and tutuu are town - you're in my top tier. I'm familiar with how good your reads can be when you are town from playing with you. I understand you don't love it and I get why now but that doesn't change my opinion.

I'm here reading along and watching Jeopardy. I haven't see anything to move me off of nutella.

My main reservation is that in light of the fact that Nutella spent nearly half the day (the latter half) a near certain yeet, at some point she's likely to go into anti-spew mode and she chose to spend most of her remaining time pushing onto you and at no point did it feel like she was going to get anywhere with that at all. You also didn't move your vote off of her when you said you bought her claim, which I think could be explained by virtue of Tim also being mafia so moving your vote to him serving little purpose.

Ok, I see what you are seeing about Nutella talking about me but I am sure she did it for the express purpose of making sure I went down after her. I am LHF to her, easy to take down. I'll be damned if I let her show everyone she can outsmart me.

As for moving my vote, this was my progression (I'll pull quotes for you tomorrow if you need me too). When nutella first claimed my immediate reactions was it sounded too specific to be a lie. I made some comment to you I think at that point. Meanwhile though, Hally and SPF were saying we shouldn't move our votes and I remember I think SPF saying something like if this was a game where we all had abilities we couldn't just pull away from chopping someone who claimed.

Then, you started asking nutella questions about her role and she started embellishing, saying for instance she had a list of every song in the game. Finally you said something like "you're making it up as you go along" and I knew I wasn't going to move my vote. That was quite late but there was still time. Somewhere in there I also asked about Colin as a possibility. I did not understand at all why people were jumping on Tim - I don't know whether I missed the reasoning or a lot of people just saw something I didn't.

So that's how it went down for me. Like I said, I'll be happy to pull quotes if you like to illustrate.
