I don't know how that would be a slip. They're two completely different things.

... unless you meant townslip.
No I mean did she scumslip. They're two completely different things. One of them you were talking about, the other one you weren't.
=.=

Yeah I don't get it.
Ok I'll walk you though it, because I love you.

Here you explain the Deathly Hallows mechanic. Which, since they're all locked behind secrets, the basic gist is "You get one if you kill the guys that have them or if you're the last vote on the guys that have one"

Here Owner says "Dark Arts" and not "Deathly Hallows". Her exact quote will be helpful in understanding my thought process so here:
Owner of a Lonely Heart wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:12 am
speedchuck wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:04 am :) what about me, owner? Give DH a break and flag me for a bit.
You knowing the intricacies of the Dark Arts stuff and sharing it could be an act to try to buy townie points. I remember reading the stuff about it but not nearly picking up enough about it to understand it all. Basically, if someone had or possessed Dark Arts abilities this game, they would probably read up on it or make sure they understood their abilities.

Technically, what you said is some form of mechanical-talk or a retelling of information, in which some of it is free to us. But it doesn't necessarily solve us the game or anything.

It's potenitally the kind of post meant to look like a person is being useful, but in reality, they aren't truly really adding to the thread.
"The intricacies of" - What's intricate about [SECRET] and "Keep what you kill"
"The Dark Arts Stuff" - if you've got Dark Arts on the mind and someone says Deathly Hallows, you might confuse the two. Freudian Slippage.
"I remember reading the stuff about it but not nearly picking up enough...." - [Secrets] and "Keep what you kill" doesn't strike me as hard to retain.

IDK thinking out loud, the best indicator of an actual slip here is conflating "Dark Arts" with "Deathly Hallows" because she had "Dark Arts" on the mind.
I think I associate Dark Arts with Deathly Hallows as they are relatively both dark things. Or in my mind, both relate to the one who isn't to be named. The Deathly Hallows wouldn't exist without the dark arts I think.

It's like when I say scum. When I think of scum, I think both mafia and 3p (third party) are scum. Some sites like NF have taught me sometimes indies aren't scum.
This really looks like Owner both is scum and has a Deathly Hallow and got mixed up cause it was altogether in their role card.

It's also possible that they're just confused because the ruleset is really confusing.

Can we use it to make a statement that we don't know if it's true or false?

Like: There are a Prime Number of Death Eaters in Gryffindor.

If it is false, then there's either 4, 6 (Which is unlikely) or 0. If it is true, then there's 1, 2, 3, or 5.

I don't know this player, so I don't know if they would try something so clumsy as a baddie. But that extra word in their ld statement is noteworthy for a day 1.

Also, I am town.
Pedantic. You aren't 'town', you're 'timmer'.

Quick everyone, say "My alignment in this game is to the town, civ, or otherwise named faction that represents the 'good guys' of this setting. I cannot use the dark arts, nor can any of my teammates. I have no BTSC chat with other players at the moment." /s

Could you walk me through how this makes sense to you?
Sure thing!

Basically, if a Death Eater had a Deathly Hallow, it would appear on their Role Card after all of their normal abilities. In the rules, the Deathly Hallow follows after the Dark Arts explanations, so it would be easy to confusedly think that Deathly Hallow was related to Dark Arts.

After you explained that you're not quite familiar with the Deathly Hallows, I think it's more likely that you're just confused. Which is perfectly fine, since "Deathly Hallows" is a confusing name to begin with. Thanks Rowling.

Thanks for the clarification. I assume that if one were to check a statement the target does not actually know (Like mine on how many scum are in Gryffindor), then it would return neither true nor false.

I'm just confused about "picture read" to the point where I have just ignored it completely until now but since it keeps being brought up.

I apologize for having fun and picking out a fun Harry Potter themed comic to share during the pregame. Clearly this was because I am scum. For reasons I have yet to determine beyond "posted a picture". I wrongly assumed that during Day 0 I would not be judged for posting a picture and even spoiler tagging it so that people wouldn't have to see it if they didn't like it.

Or else I'd look scum by not following along with it.
kara, you've been frustrated by this picture tell thing, so I figured I'd give you a different gripe since I don't care about that at all. This post above looked to me like the sort that a mafioso who is still new to the game of Mafia (which I believe you are, correct me if not) might make. You felt forced/pressured to do this, and I am unclear on why.
Everything with you people is a two-way street

If I don't respond to/with something, it means I'm scum.

If I do respond, it means I'm scum.

I promise you 100% that if I had said that exact same thing SOMEONE would say "You didn't say "I am town" in your post so you must be avoiding something." but since I broached that first no one else had to. Instead what I'm getting is a ton of questions about pregame content that I'm not answering because they're stupid and meant to make me look bad regardless.

Yeah, I get that's the game. Trying to get people to make a defense of every little thing that they've said. All of this is so fake. Day 1 lynch is a total crapshoot. These "scumtells" "towntells" are all shooting in the wind. Some of them are going to be right because random chance exists. So here we go, this is all factual from here on:

I gave a point that using a 1-use ability in that way was not a good idea. ColinIsCool said "This is obviously a good idea." and I claimed that it was not a good idea, much less "obviously".
My next sentence: "But because you've started this, I also have to say" is the pressure that I brought up later when asked. Yes, nobody directly said "Kara, say 'I am town' or else we won't believe you". I don't have to, since I already know everyone is so paranoid there's no purpose to trying to look town. Because I was responding to someone who believed that it was "obviously a good idea" I did not want HIM to feel like I was objecting them because I was trying to be combative.

Hence, why I later said

No, I clearly didn't want to say it myself, but felt like I was pressured to. If you don't want to I absolutely will not hold it against you.
Since then, I have not complained about anyone saying "I am town" because I do not care. I literally do not care. Let me restate this, because I do not care so much. I DON'T CARE. Go pressurize wash yourselves or whatever. I allowed myself to be pressured. Nobody pressured me. This is a real thing that can happen. Stop acting like that makes me scum because "I don't want to die" or whatever.

In conclusion:

I said "I am town." to Colin, not you or anyone else. The only pressure anyone else has given me is Owner that I haven't responded to because it's just quoting everything I said early on and saying that I look scummy, which, like I said earlier in this post, is pointless.

Would you have voted for Owner?

If Owner turns up scum, then that looks bad on you: to say she really looks like scum, but stop short of casting a clinching vote for an Owner lynch.

This was like, 5 pages ago now, but might as well since Jay's the only one interacting with me for the most part and I don't want to just give up on this game completely.

I still feel like any of them could be lynched. I don't think their position coming into the next day is any stronger than the last. I think what happens during the night will be very important for determining who to lynch tomorrow.

I do not have more than "feelings" because I am having difficulty following the game, it is extremely fast-paced.

JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Mon Nov 05, 2018 6:21 pm karavalenge, could you please talk a little about the votes you made during the final stretch of Day 3? Thanks so much! Much appreciated! Wonderful!
Already said it. I came in with like thirty minutes left and saw it was 4-3, Colin vs Long Con. I decided to tie it since I believed Long was more likely to be mafia.

I checked again at about 5 minutes left and it had switched to Glorfindel vs Long Con. Same reasoning, I switched to Glorfindel because I believed they were more likely to be mafia.

I did not post any vote tags because I didn't want to make a fight over Hallow powers.
How do you feel about those three players right now as we emerge from a lynchless finish?
This was like, 5 pages ago now, but might as well since Jay's the only one interacting with me for the most part and I don't want to just give up on this game completely.

I still feel like any of them could be lynched. I don't think their position coming into the next day is any stronger than the last. I think what happens during the night will be very important for determining who to lynch tomorrow.

I do not have more than "feelings" because I am having difficulty following the game, it is extremely fast-paced.
This is...not a great post. Do you have any specific opinions about those people? Who do you want to lynch?
Personally? I'd vote to lynch Jay because Jay has been really nice and understanding to me when I expect more posts like this one. I am not good at saying what people want to hear in this game (clearly, as you put it, not a great post). Most everyone has me down for a civ or middle scum and I have no idea why for either.

So yeah, sorry. I can't explain myself, I'm too complicated. And too tired from this game. I still don't know how to feel about Colin or Glor or Long Con simply because I can't keep up. I'll say that Glorfindel's "I'm town" after the vote was ended looked more scummy than anything else did during that rush.

kara, we are hypothesizing that since there are no known spells/items that can save someone from a lynch, Long Con is probably bad and it's in his role power. The baddie powers are secret. There might be another explanation that would lead us to believe Long Con is good but we can't really come up with one. Maybe LC can tell us himself why he's good and it will be believable but most of us are doubtful.

Can I ask why you found Glorf's "I'm town" scummy?
I'm not assuming that Long Con lived because of a Mafia power when there is an item in the Deathly Hallows that could possibly do that as well, depending on Dragon's interpretation.

I found Glorf's line scummy because he was asked to say it before then and refused until the vote was over, after which he left the game which I do not hold against him, just pointing it out as a fact.

That's all, I didn't care about whatever meta was being talked about at the time.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4

I mean, we know that they have the ability to stop a lynch. If it was a Hallow, then Long Con's killer would have it, not INH.

Ask them.

Considering that a vig quite probably murderified LC, I don't want to out everything without thinking about it.
what's screwy about my night action?
You somehow visited LC.

You weren't the only one.
whatever it was, it wasn't a dark art.
Could Speed or Quin be bad? 'Cause it looks like one of you is lying.
I don't think this looks bad on either of them, I think they're withholding info on purpose.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4

Quin is claiming to have protected Sloonei and Timmer with Patronum last night.

Speed is claiming to have seen Quin approach Long Con last night, (Among others?)

Either Quin is lying about what they did, Speed is lying about what they saw, or there's some screwy switching going on.

kara - I'm hardly aware that they're in the game. That's as much my fault as theirs, but they've been quiet so there's not much I can do here (unless, you know, I start to read things)
I've just been quietly trying to get myself killed in the Night phases so I can pass peacefully in my sleep rather than worry about arguments.

I'm sorry if the game has been a headache, kara. We can be an intense bunch sometimes, but it's just because we're chums who know each other well and like to win. I'm glad you're playing with us and I hope you continue to do so!

You might suspect me for being nice again, but that's okay. I'm not worried about it. I want new people to enjoy their time here.
I think people are just mostly crazy the first two days. It's gotten a lot calmer now. Comparatively.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4

Yeah, there's not any real reason to hide it since Speed brought it up.

I floo'd him today to see who the "other" person was he referred to who interacted with Long Con and he complied and told me.

In return I let him know that my Night 3 action was to Diricawl with him, which does not appear to have affected anything.
