Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
I'm not sure that I did at the time, it was an impulsive thing but I did think his vote for Jay was an overreaction (though seeing his explanation now I may have misinterpreted it). I had a theory about Quin based on one thing but it wasn't very strong and I didn't believe it enough for a vote. I became more confident in my vote for speed in this catchup what with his weird exchange with you about recruitment. Though thinking about it there is a world in which he has a point about sprityo.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
That's the same thing I assumed, especially since I had immediately beforehand made a comment to such an effect. I assumed speed was questioning jay's meta in the same way I was but in a much stronger manner and I thought it was weird that he immediately took it to vote territory. I see now that he interpreted jay's post as a sign he may have been recruited, which I disagree with but is a more valid motivation.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:48 pmcuz i thought you were making a crappy statement on my meta when you voted for me (i.e. jjj would NEVAR celebrate a quiet day 0)speedchuck wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:17 pm"Gee guys, nothing at all happened at the end of day one and I never got a recruitment PM no sirree"

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
LC is on fire today. I didn't like that post from Sloonei either. Opportunistic blather under the guise of "generating discussion." Blech.Long Con wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 1:55 pmThis is sketchy, and a stretch, on the reread. It's a sktretch.Sloonei wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 12:30 pmI'm voting for Long Con in hopes that we can generate discussion about this post. This does reflect a pattern in Long Con's posts where he starts off in apparent ignorance of the game mechanics and then works his way up. It's possible he was just getting a feel for things and now he understands what was happening. Or something else. Let's talk about it.Lunalee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 12:19 pm Long Con's posts strike me weird. He apparently didn't read the rules or his role pm, and instead askes all game-mechanic questions in thread. Concerning the mafia recruitment aspect, he asks: It's still up for grabs?
Then posts a bunch of questions on how to approach this game: What are we dealing with here? How do we even mafia in this game?
Then asks, "have recruitment decisions been made?"
But then suddenly understands everything well enough to place a vote on speedchuck based on his game mechanic questions.
I don't view Long Con as being an ignorant player, which is why all his questions confuse me. Is he bad and trying to look like an ignorant townie? Or is he really that bad at reading the rules? I would be okay with voting Long Con today.
It's more wishy-washy and noncommittal than water. Are you trying to be Switzerland here? Are you trying to catch baddies or be Involved In A Discussion? You cast a vote, which I can only assume is supposed to look like pressure, and then you proceed to post with as little pressure as possible on me.
And, I just have to focus on this sexy piece of blather: "This does reflect a pattern in Long Con's posts where he starts off in apparent ignorance of the game mechanics and then works his way up." Disappointed us when it wasn't a revelation-filled-look-at-past-games kind of pattern, but just you saying you see some pattern in the four posts Luna quoted. I can look at the horse picture behind my monitors and see, in the horse group, black-black-white-black-black-black-white, and yeah that's a possible pattern, and no it doesn't mean anything. PLUS, now it's maybe-suspicious in your world to move from ignorance to understanding as time progresses? Or are you Billy Pilgrim, displaced in time and confused about how I could have understanding at one point in time, and also have ignorance at another? We live in a linear world, buddy. Also, I was never ignorant of the answers to my questions, just to reiterate.

It doesn't matter who I suspect or don't suspect off the bat, what matters is that discussion takes place so that there is something substantial to work off of in the present and future. The discussion is not intended to reflect solely on the player being discussed (Long Con in this case), but also all of the people who will participate in it afterwards (lunalee, nutella, potentially everybody else in the game). This is yuck.nutella wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 4:36 pmjesus christ can this get any worseSloonei wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 2:10 pmBecause I just saw him as a player working on his understanding of the game and/or trying to get others involved.

Like, your fake vote for him and the way you just restated Luna's points -- so much feigned bullshit. If you don't actually suspect him you don't need to pretend that you do in order to generate discussion. Literally you could have just said the last sentence "Let's talk about this" and would have gotten the effect you wanted.

Just, let me say this sentence again. If you don't actually suspect him you don't need to pretend that you do in order to generate discussion. There is pretty much never any good reason for a civilian to pretend to suspect someone they don't suspect. It's primarily a scum move. If you're town you should just honestly say what you mean. I can understand the strategy of exaggerating a suspicion a little bit to stimulate discussion/gauge reactions, but I don't think you did that effectively here. Except that you successfully got a reaction from me

I'd be cool with lynching Eloh, since I didn't like the contradictory jay stuff that I pointed out, but I also have some fear that it's too easy. I'm also not opposed to lynching Colin, since I'd expect to see a lot more content from him by now/better explanation of his vote (and the same goes for Nova but a bit less so on the content expectations). But for now my vote stays on Sloonei. Despite his emotional appeal I haven't seen anything that is enough to convince me he is genuine. Maybe I am reading with a biased angle but I have been able to see every post of his as posturing/forced/disingenuous and I think it's notable that I haven't been able to shake that feeling in any of his defenses.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
Ahh, never mind. It's that you think there is some weird liminal timespace between D0 and D1. That explains it.Elohcin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:36 pm Just to clarify....when Epi was telling me to sign up for this game, he explained it was a recruitment kind of deal and that no one will know whether they are bad to good until Day 1. I may be remembering that wrong, but I swear that is what he said. That is why I said I don't think anything happened to anyone on Day 0.

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
Right... meaning something happened on Day 0.Elohcin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:53 pmNo, no. I was told they wouldn't know UNTIL Day 1. Like they would get a PM at the end of Day 0/beginning of Day1.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:44 pmNo.
This is Day 1.
If people don't even know their own alignment, what are we doing right now?

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
I am not mean. If you have issue with something I said take it up with dunya. Maybe my words sound harsh or snippy but I'm just saying what I think. Nothing is directed at your character. Also I don't understand what you are seeing in my posts that is "bandwagony." Explain.Elohcin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 4:17 pm I have to go get ready for dinner (we are meeting an old friend in the next town over). I have read, I have explained my thoughts. I cannot expand any more. Even though Sloon is the one with the most votes after me, I cannot vote him in good conscience. I don't think he is bad. All the talk about my accusations of Jay has brought back the civ-looking Jay I am used to and that makes me question my initial thoughts of him. I am wondering if his lack of gumption in the beginning of Day 1 was just something related to RL or something...dunno. Anyway...I am voting for nutella. I encourage you to read her posts isolated from the others and see how bandwagony she is being. If I am not the one driving to the restaurant, I may be able to check in while on the road (we are meeting the friend at 6pm which is EOD). If not, I guess I will just see what happened when I get home.
Linki to nutella. You are so mean! Do you read your posts before submitting them?

Re: Mega Man Mafia [Day 1]
No longer okay with Eloh lynch. She's town. Very misguided and confused, but genuinely so.ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 4:32 pm I don’t lke Sloonei’s rationale toward lynching me but I do feel better about him from his recent efforts. He looks different from scum Sloonei I’ve seen recently and his contributions have made me think he’s the sort of player in this game I’m not totally comfortable jettisoning on D1 without better evidence.
Don’t like this much though. Nutella is okay with anything today.nutella wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:10 pm I'd be cool with lynching Eloh, since I didn't like the contradictory jay stuff that I pointed out, but I also have some fear that it's too easy.
