First MP begins to talk. Then his words become more and more sarcastic, until he dies. When he resurrects he becomes completely pedantic.M Plus 7 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:33 pmOkay. A few things.dunya wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:28 pmwhy marmot?
i'm leaning towards a scotty vote. is he usually sincere? is not voting for people you've never played with general etiquette? i've never played with him before but letting everyone he's never played with avoid his day 1 vote seems like a good way to seem friendly and agreeable.
What kind of question is "is he usually sincere?" What does that even mean? Explain.
For some players, sure. Tends to be more so for LP-based players or old timers, but in my assessment it's not strikingly out of character for Scotty to say something like this if that's what you're wondering. Typically Scotty likes to vote for lower-participants or lurkers on Day 1; he usually has some sort of underlying method to his early votes.
And I can assume that you are taking this a step forward and implying Scotty is being disingenuous? Why single him out for that, instead of someone such as yours truly who has made a few posts that could be considered overly friendly so far?
But I'm digging his line of undead pedantic sarcastic questioning, so I'll give it a town read.

Thanks for the background.Sloonei wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 6:43 pm Scotty used to be in the habit of voting low-posters early on. I think he did this in the Game of Champions but it started so long ago that I’m not sure.
Giving new/unfamiliar players a pass on Day 1 is not uncommon among the various cultures that The Syndicate grew up from. The tenants of this community are hospitality, murder, and mayhem.
Does any of that factor in to give you a read on Scotty, Dunya, or MP?

A message to Dunya, Golden, and mayyybe Macdougall.
When someone makes a post, and it pings you, you should explain why, and elaborate when questioned. Then you (both sides) can accept what people say about you and move on to other things.
Instead, you guys have been staking your claim on said post and building beautiful multi-dimensional castles with multiple meta-arrangements that last for a hundred posts.
Just wanted to say that. I'm not going to try reading into these "he said she said" arguments. I can't follow them.
I'll bring in some reads in a moment.

Remainders:

dunya - Dunya's questioning is all over the place, but I remember it being that way in MK and in Vocaroo. She actually ended up getting lynched for it in MK, even though she pointed out the scumteam. I can't clear Dunya on a meta read, though, because I've never played with scum dunya.
Epignosis
Golden - Has done some really towny things. I didn't even mind his meta defense, but for a couple of posts that pinged me. Those that Mac didn't point out, I already did.

Epi lays low as scum, sure, but he's useful as town. Game has actually been going for less than 24 hours, finals for schoolteachers are approaching, etc. Epi hasn't been super active this weekend either, and has had company if I remember right.
I'm not going to lay a lazy vote on Epi for activity, and I caution against wasting your time with it today.

But yes, all of my votes this game will be based on user activity. Not, like, their usernames or divination.
I'll probably be moving my vote though. I find Epi's behavior scummy, but it's not IDEAL scummy. And while I've only played one game with bad Epi, he has a pretty good record as king of evil, and if he were a bad dude, he could do better than this. Those with better meta reads have concurred.

This is hard when we have so many low posters and so many high posters and not so many in-betweens.
Spacedaisy. I hadn't realized she was in the game. I POE'd it to her.
Kylemii. Gave me a lot of pause, but that good feeling I got from his first few posts is gone. He's skating.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 1]
Soooo not that you're wrong, but can you explain why these posts bring you to that conclusion, and what that says about Dunya?Marmot wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:58 pm Switching my vote to Spacedaisy because pretty much her only on topic posts so far are interactions with dunya which include a mild defense, followed by a step back, then a step forward.
Is your scumread of daisy predicated on Dunya also being scum?

I've read his ISO thrice. I don't get it. Why the heck are MacDougall, sig, and Turnip Head voting for Nova?

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 1]
I'm looking to possibly move my vote and the only two options that really matter at this point (I'll be completely AFK for the last 2 hours of day) are:
Dunya - this lynch is based on a scumslip I don't believe occurred. Frankly, I think it's ridiculous, and I refuse to vote there.
Nova - I have no idea why Nova has any votes.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 1]
On second thought I like Marmot's votes. They good. The first half of his ISO pinged me, but I like the recent stuff. He's moving from zany to business, which doesn't usually happen when he's scum.Sloonei wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 3:15 pmTalk about Jack and Marmotspeedchuck wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 3:12 pm I'm looking to possibly move my vote and the only two options that really matter at this point (I'll be completely AFK for the last 2 hours of day) are:

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
Hm. I'm not pleased with the outcome, and I had Sig as a townread, but having caught up in the thread for the night, I can't say I'm mad about it. Sig kept his vote parked on Nova (I still never saw a reason for ANYONE who was doing that) and refused to engage questions that people put to him.
I read him as town, but at least people had reasons to vote him unlike with Nova.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
Lots to dig into though. I was addressed several times while I was gone, and I'll talk about the one I remember.
I think Luna is town. She is playing as I would expect her to on D1 in her first online mafia game.
(But speed, this is not her first online mafia game!)
You think burglaries and freaking Image Mafia count? Not that Luna played much differently in the burglaries. She was town then as well. We have put up more content in one day than Luna has parsed in her entire syndicate run, and I think her posts work with her latching onto elements that she can follow and giving what opinions she has.
I don't discourage pursuing a scumread on her and asking her questions. It might help her to engage with the thread, since she is a "true freshman" and not a "transfer" like Nova, Wolbre, etc. Just keep the filter in mind. And through my filter, I see her as town.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
Nova voters:
I'm completely baffled by Turnip Head.
Macdougall's analysis today (tonight I guess) is fantastic, and makes me wonder why his name is in this pile. He has Nova as a town read now. It appears that his vote was in place for the same reason I ended up staying on Epi. The alternatives sucked. Still looks weird.
Sig is obviously town.
Mac has a pretty good case on Sloonei. It's the kind of case I like to see, based on motives rather than slips or 'weirdness.' I'd probably put a vote there RN if it was daytime.
Haven't read the Sloonei response, yet.
linki: Why is a long post suspicious?

Did not.dunya wrote: ↑Thu Apr 26, 2018 6:00 am second of all, please review MK. my vote landed on speedchuck who only JJJ voted with me on, when I could have voted for Simon and saved myself as the second wagon. Even though I was suspicious of Simon (and he was scum), speed kind of scumslipped and when a scum scumslips, you go after the player you're 100% sure is scum rather than someone you're 85% sure of.

If not, and I wanted to consolidate, I'd vote Sloonei. I suspect Sloon more than Colin. (though I do suspect Colin, or I wouldn't be asking)
But what I really want to do is start some entirely new votes since we're only a fourth of the way through the day. I'd probably start with Quin. My Quindar has not given me the genu-Quin townread yet, and I usually get that as soon as he starts posting.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 2]
Coliniscool, Sloonei, Quin... and I could probably find some others with an ISO.
I have plenty of time to place my vote, and I've been waiting for Mac to come back so I could pry about his 'plan.' But I'll go ahead and vote for colin anyway.
