RETROCAUSALITY MAFIA

An adventure through time with a bunch of causality-destroying scallywags and murderous paradox creators.

MODERATOR: Dunya


SPECIAL RULES:
- Closed Setup, 48/24 cycles
- There are (normally) no reveals on death or lynches. Any unrevealed death with show up as the player VANISHING.
- Players may be revived, inexplicably or not. Death is not necessarily permanent.
- Actions might affect the past or future. This will be chaotic and may have unpredictable results. Whatever the moderator posts is, has, and always will be true (sort of).
- There may be day activations and events.
- An effort will be made to balance this game. An EFFORT.
- There will be DAY LYNCHES and NIGHT ELECTIONS
- Vanished players will have a chat and their choices will affect the game
- Role Claiming is allowed
- Solving the game by flavor claiming is frowned upon and will NOT help you
- Massclaiming from the start ruins the game. Please do not.
- Scum will be provided with fakeclaims if they need them.
- Role Guarantees: No Jesters, No Silencers, No Insanifiers, No Cults
-This pedantic color and this sarcastic color will be used in host posts (after this one). Do not imitate the host.
-Some host posts may be a little late. My schedule is often crazy. Stay frosty in case of delays.

Flavor Claiming is revealing what character or name or relation your role might have to the theme. Your flavors will not be helpful, and I don't want the game to turn into an elimination to try and find the 'bad' flavors or 'fake flavors'. So I'm discouraging it, mostly as a waste of time. It won't get you mod killed or anything.

Tldr Don't be all like "I'm Biff Tannen!" Or you will look silly.

More clarification since this type of setup is not common here.

Massclaims tend to discourage actual scumhunting. I won't go into detail, but trust that, given the way I set this game up, Massclaims would not help you sniff out scum using POE. The surprise of the game would be ruined, and town would not benefit at all.

What? What did I say? Ah, yes, the PP. The PP are a group of people dedicated to killing time travelers. Which you all now are. And we have reason to believe that some of them are on board this ship. Could you kindly try to ferret them out? We wouldn't want any accidents.

What? No we would not kill them. We'd just throw them out into space time, and let them fend for themselves without time travel. They will do the same to you if you aren't careful. See if you can find them for us.

It should take us 48 hours of relative time to reach the year 1791, which is what we are heading for. Plenty of time for you to eject the owner of this badge. Good luck!

Sig steps forward, wig in hand, ink pen on head. Wait, no. No. Sig, you're doing it wrong! That's not...

"I'M THE PHANTOM SIGGY WIGGY!" Sig cries, slamming the head-pen into the page. The tough parchement tears slightly, and Sig waggles several crude-ities and a name to match. "SIGURD THE MAGNIFICIENT!"

"Who is that?" Ben Franklin yells. "And how did he get such stylish clothes?"

The other parliment members hesitate, struck by Sig's outrageous awesomeness. But for one. John Hancock.

"NO!" he screams. "I was to have the most famous signature! ME! I had my swirlydirls and my bad pun of a last name to count on. But you! Your name is literally Sig? How could you!?"

*ahem* The tour guide clears his throat over the cries of outrage.

"It appears that this is getting out of hand. Are you done, Sig?"

Sig looks up, fire and fury in his eyes. Ink runs down his face, and then the fury clears and Sig realizes that the wig he is holding is nothing but damp toilet paper and glue, molded into a bad hairdo.

"YICK!"

Sig throws the wig at the approaching John Hancock and then takes off for the time zepplin. Others follow.

"Come on, come on, get in, get in!"

One by one, the tour members pile in. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14...

One member is missing. As the time vandals speed off through time, this 'time' into the future, Nutella is left behind in the timestream.[/ped]

"They are still here. The Paradox Police. They are the ones who caused this error."

*slams fist on zepplin console*

"WE MUST FIND THEM AND BRING JUSTICE FOR WHATEVER WHO THAT WAS!"

It's easily resolved

@speedchuck - is the intention of listing the factions to preclude the possibility of independents?

(I have a very specific purpose I think they're listed - it's to prevent us claiming based on our 'faction name' - which is something I expect only town and mafia have. But I could well be wrong).

DAY 2a - EVENT


"Well, well, what's going on here? Have you got him? This... this Sig fellow. Hmm, he seems like a scoundrelly sort. Ah, but don't we all?"

Sig is held back by two of his fellow passengers. He backpedals away from the time tour guide, remembering how Zephyrus was forced to walk
off the ship into the timestream.

"No," he says. "I'm not going out there."

Then he, with a sudden clumsy grace, Sig turns his attackers one on another, slams them into the ground, and leaps for a window.

"Stop him!" a voice cries.

"Whatever for?"

Sig crashes out the window into the blurry hues of the timestream, and is lost to view. The resulting stunned silence is so loud that everyone has to cover their ears. Oh, wait, that's the open window.

"I'll patch it up!" the time tour guide says. Keep looking for more of those Paradox Police blokes!


Sig has VANISHED! Votes have been RESET. Day has been extended for 23 hours to deal with fixing the window, till 6/20 at 10:00 EST.

Once the game picked up, the polls completely slipped my mind. I have the night poll and will be putting it up.

I do not have the day 1 poll at all. Currently looking for ways to fix that. I will compensate one way or another.

This game is having some uncanny weirdness.
You both voted fine. Speed changed the poll, moving Choutas from the top down to being sprityo below your votes.
When I did that in U-Pick it just reset the poll entirely and forced ppl to revote.
I thought that was what it would do.

Knowing that it's fine if I don't change the number is useful. If that's what is happening.

A lot of hosts have done a lot of things over the years that have made very little sense to me. A "Mafia" game with no flips? No sense.

I'm just rolling with things.

I've also learned that hosts make flawed games, and so I try to anticipate those too. This could be a flaw.
