For anyone who wants to cry tonight or who wants a peek behind the Kayfabe of my mafia-persona.

Spoiler: show
For context, a "Patronus" is essentially the embodiment of a happy memory that wizards use to either fight Dementors (who feed off negative energy, fear, sadness, bad memories, etc) or sometimes they can be used to send messages or w/e. They usually take the form of an animal. Anyway...

So a few years (Like 8 or 9) ago I had this dog, some of you might remember from IRC chats or w/e. Fat Beagle that we got literally on a whim outside some gym or family/fitness center where they had a bunch of dogs they were looking to get adopted. This dumbass literally walks right up to me. I walk him up the sidewalk for a bit and then we both get tired and I sit down to pet him but he lays his head on my lap like a jerk. Hoo do I not love this guy and take him home lol.

Anyway he'd sleep with me every night and like, right up on my legs he'd curl up like a puzzle piece and fit right in there. Every night.

Then when he passed 4-5 years ago I got all torn up about it. And I dunno when the Pottermore site added the Patronus thing where you can go on there and answer some questions and it'll show you your Patronus with a little animation and let you play with it and watch it move on the screen or w/e but I remember thinking "You know what fuck it" after seeing everyone posting about it on Twitter so I go and answer the questions and I remember distinctly thinking "If this fucking website tells me my Patronus is a beagle I'm going to cry my face off" and sure enough the site said my Patronus was not just a dog (there were several types of dogs I saw other people have on Twitter so I know its not just "Dog" or "cat" or "bird") but I got a beagle.
Anyway that's why I believe in magic.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia

The movies really shined in some places, but having read the books first, the movies ended up subpar. Great aesthetic and a few good moments, perfect casting for preteen Harry Potter and for Snape, the feeling of the movies was perfect. There were a lot of things left out of movies that they needed, and the overall story was mutilated in some places. The final Harry vs Voldemort battle was awful, for one.

Decent movies if it weren't for the books though

You knowing the intricacies of the Dark Arts stuff and sharing it could be an act to try to buy townie points. I remember reading the stuff about it but not nearly picking up enough about it to understand it all. Basically, if someone had or possessed Dark Arts abilities this game, they would probably read up on it or make sure they understood their abilities.

Technically, what you said is some form of mechanical-talk or a retelling of information, in which some of it is free to us. But it doesn't necessarily solve us the game or anything.

It's potenitally the kind of post meant to look like a person is being useful, but in reality, they aren't truly really adding to the thread.
I know about the Deathly Hallows. I haven't explained anything about the Dark Arts to anyone.
Though I would if they asked, even if it required looking it up myself. That's a consistent thing I do, regardless of alignment.

I think it's nearly impossible that Epi and Juliets are teammates at this point. Even if the spoiler wasn't a tell, Epi wouldn't draw this much attention to the pairing. The observation is not a townclear for either of them, and probably does more harm than good if they are scum together. Why would the teammates do it in the first place?

Further, I don't think looking at yourself and considering anti-alignment with someone else is a thought process that comes naturally to scum. So I have a tentative townread on Epi.

IDK thinking out loud, the best indicator of an actual slip here is conflating "Dark Arts" with "Deathly Hallows" because she had "Dark Arts" on the mind.
. . . maybe. I was thinking of the the opposite way. If Owner didn't read through all the rules, it's not surprising that Deathly Hallows and Dark Arts could get mixed together. Death and Dark start with the same letter and both sound evil.

I was taking the unfamiliarity the opposite way, while you were taking the Fruedian side of it.

I see your side now, but I don't think I can make that conclusion.

Kind of a pointless exercise anyway, for a couple of reasons.

1. Cop checks already exist.
2. If enough players say "I am town", the one-shot ability will be devalued to a cop check (if used in that way).

The above being stated, all that saying "I am town" does is give the person who said it towny points, regardless of alignment. There is little risk involved, especially if multiple people say it.

It might even be a scum gambit to be one of the first people doing it. "He suggested the thing, surely he wouldn't condemn himself."

Yeah. I was a participant for a bit, but I'm ignoring it.

Nothing substantial, and little to follow up on. Just some light poking at some of the names in the thread, in a way that looks like it's generating content.

Actually, I would say including that. Snape was an obsessed elitist bigot incel, with a single-minded obsession over the one girl that broke the rule. He deserved everything he got, and worse, for bullying kids over his obsession and general bigotry.
JK Rowling portraying this relationship as romantic and tragic from Snape's end is Twilight levels of disgusting.

That said, Snape is an amazing character. But he wasn't noble or loving in any good way at all. His obsessions just allowed Dumbledore to turn him and use him.

Harry Potter should never have named his child after the bigoted incel who lusted after his mom and then punished an entire class all through school because he didn't get that booty.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 1

JJJ and TH have their assorted trains. I don't have townreads on either of them, so I don't hate it. I'll see if I can go back and get a detailed read off the day's posts.

Still want to put out there that Nova hasn't checked in, and as such is a fun lynch option. Not necessarily a GOOD lynch option (no way of knowing that), but one that will allow night actions to be taken by a greater number of active players.

Soneji wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 11:49 am As for Snape, he is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction. That means taking the bad with the good, though I feel most are too unforgiving of him because they don't even try to think of things in his shoes, which I attribute due to POV bias from Harry. Living the kind of spy life he had to would make anyone miserable and given his personality and disposition prior to spy life, it's really a feat that he is only as nasty as he is, which is itself a part of keeping up appearances.
I was pretty sure it was canon that Snape hated Harry for his father, hated Neville for not being the chosen one instead so that Lily would still be alive, and was also a pureblood elitist. (at least to the point that he called Lily a Mudblood)

Perhaps it was one of those "You aren't like other mudbloods" things, which is still bigoted.
I love the character too, but evet after Harry starts being biased TOWARDS Snape, I don't see the guy as being noble. He's still Snape.

That said, the fact that he did harbor all this hate and obsession and misery might make his good acts all the more impressive. The number of times he saved Harry, his willingness to fight and even die for the cause, everything he sacrificed...

I think there were some replacements signed up, so leaving Nova for now wouldn’t be the worst thing.
Ah. So it seems. Thanks! ;airguitar:

Why?
Took a dump on truth-gate while contributing to it.
Oh yeah. I read that earlier and forgot. Thanks.

How would you compare that to Speed’s reaction to the same exercise?
Also want to hear this. I think I ripped a fart all over truth gate too. That said, I also farted on Timmer.

Meh I don't want to lynch JJJ or TH. Their ISOs did not inspire me to do so at all.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 1

Owner's suspicion of DH reads ingenuine
Her defense of the Deathly Hallows/Dark Arts thing wasn't even needed, but she overexplained it in a way that looked nervous

Are there any other facets to the case there?

You seem to want to add more to a fire that's already developing very quickly.
That's me. I breathe natural gas and pee kerosine.

Though quite frankly I'm being reminded right now that I just don't get you. "Picture tell" brought back some memories. May be more of a complete disconnect between us than a lack of genuine-ness to your reads.
