This is obviously a good idea, right? Any objections?

I am town.
No, that's an awful waste of a 1-shot ability to tell the truth, just to get the same info as a regular ability (Divination). But because you've started this, I also have to say

I am a town.

Or else I'd look scum by not following along with it.
I'm catching up atm, but wanted to point out what could be a really weak attempt at following the I am town charge, but with a "typo" that invalidates it. I don't know this player, so I don't know if they would try something so clumsy as a baddie. But that extra word in their ld statement is noteworthy for a day 1.

Also, I am town.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 1

speedchuck wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:23 pm Kind of a pointless exercise anyway, for a couple of reasons.

1. Cop checks already exist.
2. If enough players say "I am town", the one-shot ability will be devalued to a cop check (if used in that way).

The above being stated, all that saying "I am town" does is give the person who said it towny points, regardless of alignment. There is little risk involved, especially if multiple people say it.

It might even be a scum gambit to be one of the first people doing it. "He suggested the thing, surely he wouldn't condemn himself."

Yeah. I was a participant for a bit, but I'm ignoring it.

linki: some neat ideas. I like them.
Also this was to be my next point. The I am town exercise tend to never pay the dividends it seems like it should. But here we are anyway lol.

Also I'm liking DH and Epig so far today, I'm neutral on juliets. None will getmy vote today barring a slip etc.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 1

Okay, so reading owner's iso, I'd say he really and oddly blindered onto DH very early, and for what seems like entirely prev-game reasons. This allows him to talk a lot about suspicions towards sh, but without having to defend anything he says because, hey, is based on last game. And when pressed about it, he just versions of iunno I just feel it...

This can be a baddie move, but it can also just be blindering which ive done in the past. Those who know owner well, do you get any kind of alignment read from this angle?

It's new to everyone.

A few games ago, we found a new scumtell. Scum players, in order to look productive, throw out some reads on other players. Not everyone, but also nobody specific. Nothing substantial, and little to follow up on. Just some light poking at some of the names in the thread, in a way that looks like it's generating content.

Something similar to that. I haven't seen it defined that well, but we've caught scum with it.

The smattering of player reads without substance was coined as 'player salad' by someone.
I wouldn't say it's new or just a few games ago. It's been part of common syndicate parlance for at least a year methinks.
That idea for catching scum has been around for years plural, its something I called people out for successfully several times. I just didn't think it had a name lol.

Sadly, I can read this post both ways. Slight town maybe if I try to not be paranoid. I guess I'm debating if you would question others about how to read me or if you would just come to a conclusion yourself.
Well I guess the real question is, what would someone who has barely played for years do in trying to read a player he doesn't know, but ask about them? And beyond that, where would an alignment tell be? Which brings me back to you talking a whole lot but really saying nothing much at all...

Most of the Day so far has just been two different squabbles over semantics. The whole Epi-Juliets thing has been more or less baffling in its scattershot legitimacy. It's the kind of thing that JJJ usually pushes, except with less actual substance, which makes me a tad sus of JJJ. Then there's the whole Owner/DH thing. It definitely feels like Owner is stuck replaying Firefly, while the rest of us are playing a new game. This regression could be scummy or not, depends on what else Owner decides to bring to the table. So far, I ain't impressed.
I don't recall inh getting so direct and on point early like this, but thank you for calling attention to this post. It mirrors what I was wondering about owner but i also dig the jjj thoughts as well, as I'm going to be relying on people's familiarity with styles, at least early on.

Ok I was ISO ing poutanko and noticed something I had forgotten about karavalenge, and moved over to Kara.

1. Botched wording in her I am town statement which may, depending on mod discretion, invalidate a lie detect on it.

2. Commenting on sus against owner with supportive "meh?" Style little defences of his play which feel team-y.

3. Too specific in talk of owners deathly Hallows comments.

This. Her 3 targets that she's focused on, Bullz, Kara, and me, have all been easy suspicions to come by, and mostly feel like her hopping onto easy suspects already mentioned by others. She criticized me for having too few/weak reads, and only providing "commentary" to the thread, while she herself has been guilty of all of that.

I always read willful hypocrisy as a scumtell. Other folks I'd be down to lynching: Glorf, Owner, and maaaaaybe JJJ. Need to read up on all of three of them before I decisively side against them.

TH suspects soneji. Soneji suspects luna. Luna votes owner. So soneji uses this as an excuse to vote for...TH. who suspected soneji . So soneji pulled a clever no U.

Now today soneji is back on Luna, but with no apparent attempt to break down how the lynch result may have affected the case. If soneji felt strongly that Luna was protecting th with a vote on owner, where are the thoughts now that the lynch went how it did?

I think I may join jjj on a soneji vote. Yes, in fact I am.

I won't be putting nutella on a list of baddies anytime soon.

See my response to Timmer. I suspected Kara, but then found a post of theirs that made me want to back off. That's why I moved my vote to Bullzeye instead. As far as Bullzeye being an "easy" selection, that may be true. And if that's the case I don't want to join an opportunistic band wagon. I'll be around for the next hour or so and hope to have a confident vote by then.
But you've said previously that you think there is at least some thread/game evidence to support a bullzeye lunch, so if you believe in it, why be hesitant about your vote just because it may also appear opportunistic? I mean, if you think he's bad... why would you move your votr, potentially?

I also suspect Kara, because he hasn't said much.
I'm just catching up...

Lunalee what about Kyle or lapluie?
Kylemii impressed me with his scum game last time we were all scum together. I got lynched early on, but Kylemii survived until the end with hardley any suspicions. He mostly laid low, hopped in and looked good when he needed to, and sat back and won the game. Because of this I do not feel confident in giving Kyle a town read.

As far as I can tell, Lapluie isn't playing. She posted "hello, checking in" and hasn't been back since to post or vote. I'd rather she get a replacement than us resort to lynching an inactive.
Who has suggested lynching lapluie? They have no votes?

See, I'm hesitant because if Bullz is civ, and he just came in a voted Nova at EOD because he was absent, and there was no other reasons to it, then after Nova flipped scum, there's this nice opportunity to build a case against Bullz, and mafia might jump all over that.
Right, so I guess what I'm getting at is... which do you think it is? Is bullz a civ who came in late and lazy-voted and the baddies will attack it? Or do you think he was bad? You seem to want to vote him, but also not? I'm confused.

Kylemii wrote: Fri Nov 02, 2018 3:44 pm the difference between this game and the last game as far as number of opinions from me goes is that in the previous game the few opinions I had were confident and also correct with little basis required up until maybe like day six.

I defended players I knew were civs and voted for my own teammates because I could, and because it was easy, and it made me seem trustworthy to basically everyone except long con. In this game I have few opinions because I've only read like 1/3 of the pages
Did Kylemii just scum-slip?
whaddya mean
He gives a comparison:
Last game (scum): confident opinions, defended players who were civ, voted for his teammates, acted trustworthy
This game (unknown): I have few opinions because I haven't been around.
Not: I have few opinions because I'm town.
So... Ugh... Luna, is that a serious case? Like, you legit think his word choice here is a scumslip? Or is this a desperate attempt at a case to take pressure off of you...

Whoever owns the domain needs to get a security certificate thing to upgrade to https, and then that will go away.
