Trying out the system and its features here for a bit, just ignore me for a bit.

Also, what is dead text?
I don’t really want to be using post cap posts to explain, but it’s fine.

There’s a bevy of options up there that really are situational to the game. In the before times, us old farts didn’t use to post off topic without using the OT button. Sarcastic orange to imply sarcasm, pedantic to imply pedantic-ism (w/e the noun of that is). Nowadays, we just…post. Be free.

Dead players used to be able to post off topic in dead red. That’s still a host preference. We don’t customarily do that much anymore

Oh, that YouTubeHD code button doesn’t work. YouTube videos can just be posted and they’ll appear as normal
Ah, yeah, thanks for your explanation! But I agree, save your posts, I will just figure out stuff on the fly eventually.

Back to the regular game, is there some player or interaction that you felt needs to be looked into a bit further? I saw you having a negative opinion of Michelle so far which I don't have so maybe this is something you want to get back to me about at some point?
Michelle is coming around with her posts. It was late for her in the starting parts of this phase since she lives on the moon and her time zone is 84 hours ahead. Plus, the absolute townreading maelstrom of everyone else just tells me I’m probably just wrong with my initial impression.

Michelle is probably more of a towncore *because* of how wrong I am in comparison to others tbh
That's fair. I know that Michelle can be quite a competent wolf but I don't see it so far.

I also just in general like HOW you come around with your reads and make adjustments. Like, not the fact that you do it, but the how and the why. I'm very solid on you being town now.

Just curious, is there nobody you are more suspicious of than the player who is pure null with 3 gif posts?
I don't have a definitive wolf read at this point. I'm having question marks on Seanzie and Manny for different reasons but I don't want to vote for Manny yet and I don't want to vote against a player's townread who I townread right now, either.

It's not a vote I plan on leaving there all cycle but some pressure to make that player join in a meaningful way that helps us figure them out feels like a useful endeavour.

I'm also in the camp of "never around for EOD" so I naturally see my vote in a different light than you may; I think that my reads and interactions will have a much stronger influence on how this game proceeds than whomever I vote for whenever. So... shrug

It’s not a substantive read because, well, he hasn’t really done much. But at the time in my drunken state, I liked his vibe. He’s like the dude that showed up with a box of 2 day old pizza and let me have it
So it's mostly a tonal read, I see.

I guess we need to wait what happens to see whether your drunken read holds merit.
Well im certainly not reading him off of flips.

How else are we supposed to read people D1?
Meta, prior experiences, gut reads, using an RNG to make reads... the choices are endless.

My main point was that it's not a strong read of yours and that I didn't overlook anything, I just interpret the gameplay we both saw in a different way than you do.,

shouldnt it take only like 5-10m to get a couple chairs/desks on said day? or am i understimating how easy it is to find new desks/chairs
All the other rooms had been prepared for the exams as well, so finding two spare desks wasn't as clear-cut as it would be otherwise. Since all students in their final grade take the exam at the same day and all exams are supposed to start at the same time... Imagine some frantic searching of desks in other rooms which have no desks to spare while students take the desks for their exams, with exams lying around that you can't leave alone, with other items (folders, dictionaries) missing from the rooms as well....

Since it's not the true Finals exams (yet) it wouldn't have been an insurmountable issue, but... it would have been VERY dicey for everyone involved.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]

If I may make a post about something unrelated:

Earlier today I was at school to get some stuff done and for no good reason apart from "I felt like it" I went into the room where in two weeks my students will write a big exam and that had been prepared last Friday by other teachers since the exam will be in the morning straight after the school reopens.

Only to notice that two desks and two chairs were missing, which would have ended up with two students not having a place to sit during the exam. And/or frantic re-arrangement of stuff in a hurry directly before the exam was supposed to take place.

...I obviously took care of that immediately. Damn, what a lucky break for us, this could have gotten nasty otherwise.

On the downside that is prolly gonna cause u to missread me but it is what it is, this game is a test run for me to see if i can take mafia not seriously and still play ocasionally.
That... makes a lot of sense on a personal level but I am not sure whether or not I should bring in private pre-game conversations into making reads.

I'll keep it in mind and try to find other things on which to figure you out properly. I still hope to find you town if you are, as long as we are both aware that it would be a bit more difficult than usually I think we are fine for now.

Townreads: Chelsea, Scotty

Both had strong openings, don't shy away from making waves and throwing out reads early, both feel inquisitive and mindful

Slight townleans: Abigail, Michelle
Abigail had some volume that I consider "empty" but also one banger reads list. I kinda agree that wolves don't seem to have a lot of thread presence yet since I townread all the players who made waves so far.

Michelle feels towny in tone and approach as well but it has been ages since I had meaningful games with Michelle so I am not quite up to date on how to read her.

Neutral: Lime, Creature
Lime had the slight issue in my eyes that I felt like he was mostly going for the "everyone is happiness" approach, a strategy I like to do in uninspired wolf games that can come from TMI and a lack of easy pushes. I disliked the "forcing townreads" stuff. I don't have any direct issue with a single post though, so... we'll see where this goes.

Creature has a NAI Creature opening so far but as per usual I will roast you over the fiery pit if I don't get to see at least SOME reads and gameplay-related posts before the end of the phase - THIS is usually what makes Creature obvious, whether his whining gets backed up by an attempt of participation - or not.

Worrisome: Manny, seanzie, Dunnstral
Manny feels less energetic than I'd thought I'd see him play in a game with several of the people he himself recruited. I do have a potential explanation on why he'd play the way he does (at least if this could be compared to MU games) but... I honestly hoped to find Manny early D1 and just chill, which is not the case.

Dunnstral has had a lot of posts but nothing so far managed to stick with me. If someone else knows how to read Dunn I'm all ears, but from experience this is something that's either wolf indicative - or a clash of playstyle/personal tiredness.

seanzie had a lot of nothing paired with a long period of absence, and as I said earlier it's the one take from Scotty that I disagree with, so far.

Rest of the crowd didn't leave an impression enough to be on this list yet.
Ima make up a new category for you.

Also Epi is here, but he’s not *here*, if ya get me. Reminds me of the terse interactions in Cosmere mafia in which he was bad. Could vote there.

Current read list:

Townread:
Seanzie
Princess Abbi
TSP

Townlean:
Dunnstral
Michelle
Lime Coke

Scum lean:
Chelsea
Manny
jack

Scumread:
Creature
Epi

Either towncore or third party, no in between (and no explanation):

This is a chill game for me, dont expect much energy, but i think u have the wrong meta for me when it comes to non-turbo games, historically i post a lot more as a wolf than as town lol [The two games in which i've postted the most per day were BOTH wolf games, anni with 1500 posts in 2 days and Dangan Annon with 2.4k in 4]

but on the brightside u are free town so nice.

Manny because of him looking to sheep Chelsea but doesn't instantly do it the moment she votes someone and questions it.

Maybe because it's something Manny can do as mafia but I'm choosing to think it's town.
The choice of reading someone by whim it's not giving the best answer.
I trust neither of them, especially because they look like distancing and playing 'towny'
That's not the impression I got from the exchange earlier, it felt to me like Chelsea was actually... taken back a bit? It felt like a proper chastising.
I don't really understand your post, if you can say it again pls.
What I meant is: Chelsea's reaction to Manny buttering up to her felt natural and not staged. I think that she was... negatively surprised? Not sure how to express that better. Considering that Chelsea did not expect that approach and acted in a rejecting way I doubt that Chelsea and Manny are both part of a wolf team.

(And I generally townread Chelsea anyways).

Creature keeps making excuses for why people are gonna vote him and it feels very defeatist in a wolfy way but I won't vote there unless someone checks me because I can't read creature

Breads insistence that Scotty is town and his read is right against all challenges is just towny imo I'd not be willing to lock that though

Manny feels decidedly disengaged but that's something old me would hard town read however new me is trying to be more patient with what I town lock so I'm gonna say town lean

Chelsea pushing me I hate but only cause this narrative is the same one I get miskilled for constantly by and large I think... assuming Chelsea has no experience with me... that Chelsea is town

What I'm saying is I think the active part of the thread is all town
Okay, I really like this Abigail post though. I don't agree with a disengaged Manny being towny (from experience that's wolf indicative of Manny) but I can clearly see where the reads originate and I can follow them easily.

Do you base this on the mech post? I find that a tad odd because anyone can speak on mech, especially considering it's basically truth-talk and busy work Day 1. It's probably the most irrelevant line of conversation you can go down. Now, given it's RVS at that point, sure talk away on a matter I consider unimportant but out of all of Scotty's early posts, why that one?

I can't decipher whether your reaction is over-eager or just premature. Even with your later answer just doesn’t feel like you should be this set.

thats all i got ill be back later prolly, @Chelsea where u at im here just to be carried :pensive:
Hello Manny, you forced me to join this so wouldn't it be you who has to carry me? I'm disappointed.

However, you could join me in voting Abigail if you're really insistent on me carrying you.
I like this inquisitive start from Chelsea. I didn't get the feeling that the mechanics post itself was what caused the town read though, unless I either misread/misunderstood the sequence or if my bias of townleaning Scott myself got between me and Lime's post.

I do kinda agree that the Abigail posts I have seen so far (up to the quoted post) are mostly filler though.

Everyone gets a maximum of 100 posts per day phase. This will lift an hour prior to the poll deadline.
Ugh this is gonna be quite painful

but maybe I won't get to 100-post anyway

Just don't wagon me D1 because it's like the hardest day for me to handle

My reads D1 are prob going to be shit, they take some new flips to adjust
I tunnel you every game so I'm gonna try not to do this for once

But I hate this opening... send help
This feels like a standard "Creature is playing this game" opening.

Liked Scotty's inquisitiveness, slightly liked the mech talk/long-term thinking, don't get the Seanzie read (opening looked completely null).

I know that someone Lime Coke has played Turbos on MU before, is this a player I should know from MU? I assume it's not a Limestone alt though?

I'll listen to that song later in the day

Long Con seems town.
Scotty, not that much.
Creature asked for a toDay pass. I'll give it to him
Hello Michelle! <3
Do you have warm pockets?

What's with this slow start?
[VOTE: Falcon] aubergine
Yes I do and you're always welcome inside of them. :D

Idk everyone else isn't here yet. Hoping a lot more start up because tomorrow will be a bit rough for me time wise until night time.
Yay! ;airguitar:

I can go to sleep a little more, it's 4 am for me
Staying up to 4AM is definitely not the kind of dedication you'd ever see me show in a game of Mafia (anymore). I'm almost willing to townread Michelle off of that alone.

Also saw the earlier Creature posts which don't do much for me yet, Creature dreading his own D1 is something I regularly see from either alignments (in mashes) and the tone of how his day progresses should give us a much clearer read here.

Michelle wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 6:06 am Where is @MacDougall ?

I have to work, but when I come back I want your reads, sir!

Also @LanMisa  how are you? I hope you have time to play this game
Yeah, a bit. This and next week are school holidays so I am more free than usual (aside from Saturday where I will be off for the whole day). Still, the week after will start my "months of hell" segment so I hope that we won't need to play for that long.

I still need to do a bit of schoolwork to help my students, and some bigger grading projects need to be done, but it should be manageable.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]

Interesting, so this is how voting is done here. Seeing that I almost never played outside of MU this is definitely a first for me!

Hello to you all, I'll have a short look at the game so far, then get some dinner, then read a bit more.
