Re: Blue Velvet Mafia {NIGHT 2}

And guess what? I'm going to lay low tomorrow.

I am in charge of an entire church service. Music, announcements, sermon! I'm doing it all. So you probably won't see me much tomorrow either.

I'm laying low. I volunteered to do all this to keep my bad role a secret.

The Epi doth protest too much, methinks!

And I got you exactly right in Mass Effect. We can debate the various alignments that we both could have been considered as, but that does not change the fact that you did exactly what I said you were going to do all along. I'll drop the mic on that shit right here.
Nope. I will fight you forever.

I was a guy who could pick his alignment.

You didn't get me exactly anything because I hadn't chosen a side, and I didn't do exactly what you said I would do. You said I would side with the Reapers and pretend to be a civilian. In fact, I sided with the Reapers and blatantly told everyone I sided with the Reapers.

You are so full of yourself thinking you got one over on me when you didn't.

That's right. I look for little things. My problem is that she gets away with little things frequently, and she cruises to endgame when evil because nobody calls her out on them.

nutella wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2017 2:19 pm Ooo LC's case on Epi is fascinating. I'm a little hesitant to buy into the "tells" from Mass Effect as he was indeed an independent rather than a mafia, but his response has been largely inadequate imo, especially with regards to the "phoning it in"/narrow focus accusation. I don't understand how that one tiny inconsequential response/request for clarification to me, which I didn't even feel merited a response let alone constituted any expression of suspicion, counts as an original contribution. It seems to be just some confusion on my wording, which for what it's worth I'll answer now since he does appear to be taking it rather seriously: I merely meant, Epi, that your post (about considering whether Rico's behavior actually indicated alignment) caused me to take a step back and reconsider that point/whether I should actually vote for him or not. I suppose "pushing" was not really the best word; I didn't really mean to imply heavy agency on your part (though no doubt there was some intent in your post to have the effect it successfully had on me) or that you were putting pressure on me specifically. I just meant to convey my thought process regarding the Rico situation and how you affected it, but I didn't use the most precise language.

Anyway, putting a vote on Epi for now. Really not getting good vibes from his responses to LC or from all the eye-rolling.

At this stage, I would be comfortable with lynching nutella, LC, or Dyslexicon.

I want to hear from nutella first.

I won't vote for LC, mind you, because I told him I would not, and unlike him, I'm going to go back on what we agreed just because he thinks the agreement was invalid. But if other people want to lynch him, knock yourselves out. He's doing the same stuff he did when he was an evil independent in Mass Effect.

I already suspected Dyslexicon and nothing has changed. Removing that role saves INH from having to find a replacement too, so bonus.

I am less enthusiastic about lynching Ricochet. If he's bad, and you lynch him, that's great, but it's more of a good guess. For example, I appreciated his point about S~V~S doing what she did to solidify credibility. The same notion crossed my mind, but it's not a notion I agree with. Still, I like that he wasn't afraid to express the thought when, if he were bad, the simplest thing to do would be to kill S~V~S and be done with it.

---

I've placed the above quotes/snippets in spoiler tags in case this post gets too long as a result.

Blue Points: Long Con suggests Epi's only contributions to the game so far have been to focus on Dyslexicon, which Epi refutes ("False.") As proof, Epi offers up a post of his where he asks Nutella to clarify what she meant by "pushing" in regards to the Ricochet/PopTart thing. Long Con doesn't think this is sufficient proof that Epi has done more than accuse Dyslexicon in the game so far. Epi Conflates this (intentionally?) with the idea that, in real life, he's been busy.

Orange Points: LC asks Epi who else he thinks is bad. After he gets no response to this question, he accuses LC of steering away from that particular discussion to avoid having to answer. Epi responds by saying that was the first time LC ever asked him for his thoughts on players, and then quotes a post which contains the original question ("and who else do you think is bad?")
Nah, I was posting in a hurry and misread it.

As of Day 2, Long Con, you were wrong about me. You are making stuff up. I chose to join the bad team after Day 3. By Day 2, when you kept calling me nervous, I hadn't made up my mind, and had no reason to be nervous. I would have joined the civilians had one more Reaper been lynched by Day 3. It is inaccurate to say you were right about me on Day 2, because I hadn't yet chosen a side.

I don't see how I phoned in Mass Effect unless you mean after Day 3 when I had chosen the Reapers and had fun channeling my inner SHODAN. If that's the parallel you are drawing, then I don't know what to tell you. During Day 2, I was playing my ass off.

But the more he's getting pushed on it and remaining stubborn, the more I'm doubting his innocence... idk. WIFOM and all that jazz. If I can't make up my mind on Rico I might join DH in voting for G-Man -- the points there don't feel like much but it's more than I have on anyone else.

It was a question I asked nutella, one in which I am still awaiting a response, because she used a much stronger verb than I would have expected given I only ask a question about why people were voting Ricochet. I wasn't "pushing" anybody to do anything. I want to know why she said I was.

Just like in Mass Effect, you are getting nervous because I am questioning you. You try to hide it behind condescending bluster and bravado, but your tells give you away ("   "), and your meta seals the point.

You are bad, you're phoning it in, and you got caught. I understand that's not something you're wired to accept, but it's happening. I couldn't close the deal in Mass Effect, and you ended up winning as a baddie just like I was screaming you would the whole time. I don't have a lot of faith that the other players will see it this time, because you're historically really good at the manipulative talk to avoid your own lynch. But I saw through it then, and I see through it now.

You need a new shtick. Vote Epignosis
That's very compelling evidence against me.

Except I was not bad in Mass Effect. I was a neutral independent at the time you said I was nervous. I was never nervous, and I certainly wasn't nervous because of you. I was the one holding the cards Day 2. I used my fake claim brilliantly to draw accusations from someone who tried to kill me and assumed I was the bulletproof guy on the other team. It worked. I regard my Day 2 Mass Effect play to be one of the best things I ever accomplished. I was not nervous then, and I'm not nervous now. You are making things up.

I'm not bad here either.

Nor am I phoning it in. I am participating as I am able. Again, you're making shit up about me because you have nothing on me. Just like you did in Mass Effect. :)

To prove how delusional you are, and that you believe bullshit, let's examine an easily verifiable claim you just made.

Elohcin can tell you the A/C downstairs crapped out and my dad and I were in the attic working on the damn thing; we were unsuccessful last night, but for some reason it's working this morning like nothing ever happened.

So no, not laying low, Mr. Manipulator.

Maybe this post is accusing Dyslexicon and defending Ricochet.

I'm sorta tempted to vote for Rico because I'm pretty damn sick of the annoyingness, but Epi's pushing me to reconsider since I don't really think Rico necessarily looks like/is behaving like a baddie. Like, he could be "hiding behind" the singsong bullshit and the no-u pattern, but I don't have a particularly strong reason to think that. But the more he's getting pushed on it and remaining stubborn, the more I'm doubting his innocence... idk. WIFOM and all that jazz. If I can't make up my mind on Rico I might join DH in voting for G-Man -- the points there don't feel like much but it's more than I have on anyone else.

I'm not laying low. I've had other stuff to do, like finish a book for speedchuck and have nijuukyugou over and fix a friggin $10,000 air conditioning. It isn't like anything compelling is going on in here anyway.

Your question to me implies that someone's role changes when he or she gets replaced. It doesn't. Because it doesn't, my opinion of Dyslexicon (or anyone) won't change because of a pending replacement.

I don't think you think I'm bad. You're nibbling. You're not making any real effort of pursuit. You're not voting for me today. You're not trying to get other people to vote for me today. Your treatment of me reminds me of Mass Effect when a) you weren't a civilian, and b) you nibbled ("You got nervous"). You are manufacturing little things to come at me with. Civilians have no reason to do this. Mafia do. This time, I'm laying low.

Okay, let's say I am. I'm laying low.

When was the last time you saw me lay low when I was bad?

Every time someone suggests that, I roll my eyes.

I think he's doing what the hell he wants to do. It says nothing of his alignment to me. If you're lynching him because he's not playing the way you want him to, fine, but be honest about it. Don't act like he's bad because you don't like what he's doing.
Assuming Rico keeps this thing up: What could he do that would make you scumread him?
You're acting like Ricochet is failing to provide commentary in his posts. Commentary is there. I have agreed with some of the things he has said. So, to answer your question, he would have to do or say something I find suspicious. That hasn't occurred.

No.
Could you?

So... what does it mean to vote someone for protection? You think they're Civ? You just want them to make it further?

DharmaHelper and speedchuck voted for nutella to be protected last night. Contrast that to Sloonei's instant vote on nutella today. I'd like to hear you gentlemen talk that out a little.

G-Man and Long Con both voted DH for protection. I gave my reason, but I haven't looked back to remind myself of G-Man's. I want vote-order to be part of our polls again as well. I'd like to easily be able to see who voted for someone when it was clear S~V~S was winning, if that happened. You know, that kind of thing.

Sprityo self-voted. Kind of tragic.

Timmer, Spacedaisy, and Epignosis voted S~V~S, and Epi cast the "deciding" vote. Given that I think Epi is bad, I would say that makes S~V~S look a little better, because I don't see why a baddie would vote to protect a teammate in this situation. The situation being that baddies don't need protecting because they're the ones killing.

S~V~S, nutella, Llama, Rico, Sloonei all voted one-offs.

Ok, Sloonei, I have tried to set the stage for using this as a scum-hunting mechanism. Perhaps some of your ideas on that front will be easier to process no?
@Long Con, why do you think a baddie would be unlikely to vote for a teammate in the protection poll? If they're the ones performing the kill, it does not matter one way or the other who they vote to protect. They could theoretically choose to protect a teammate. There is very little risk with the potential for a reward (a town vigilante, perhaps, could attempt to fire on said teammate).

My thought process on this vote is that scum would generally be less careful with their votes. They know who they are killing, so it does not matter who they vote for. Players who gave no reason or frivolous reasons would be worth looking at. I know I gave no reason. I was away on sick person business for most of the night and realized about 15 minutes peior to the deadline that I had not cast a vote yet. Epi dies early in a lot of games and I had a slight inclination to town read him, so he was my first instinct. My vote didn't seem to matter much anyway.
I didn't think of this until now, but the optimal strategy for that poll would have been to tie it up. Assuming the protection would be randomly distributed, there would have been a slim chance that the mafia kill would have dudded.

I have no opinion on dyslexicon at this time. I only have the opinion that LC is likely civ.
Everybody is "likely" civilian.

Unless INH made up something where there are more mafia than civilians and they only have open BTSC like everybody else.

Dyslexicon wrote: Wed Jun 14, 2017 11:27 pm I need to go to bed.

Before I do, I need to get this off my chest: Epi, if you happen to care about what alignment I am - If you try to fit me in the form of what YOU think is logical to do as a player you will fail to understand how I play and therefore fail to read me. When I left the thread you had thsi accusation that I should've waited for Nut to respond (I'm assuming that's what you're picking at) because I said I wanted to see what happen. I DID want to see what happened (the reason I chose Nut was because then she would be the biggest wagon which might've been fun), and then I wanted to see what happened when I voted you instead. I have many many many town games where I'll change my vote within minutes (and probably seconds) because I just change my mind or have many ideas/directions I want to go. This may not be the way YOU think or approach the game, but if you're trying to find a straight line in my play on D1 you will fail. I'm actually way more "consistent" when I'm mafia, cause then I actually care about that stuff. I feel I've had this conversation before on this forum. If you happen to be town in this game, and we play in a later game and a similar situation appears, I will be sure to remind you of this time. Clearly we have very different approaches, cause I can't wrap my brain around how you would ever find that actually suspicious at all - much less call it a straight out lie. You're not inside my head. But you could try, and I'll try the opposite. So that's what I have to say about that.
If you are trying to claim your innocence by presenting me with a skeleton key regarding how you play when you're good and how you play when you're bad, as though you aren't capable of emulating the former in the latter situation, I'm sorry:
