I waited as long as could so that Zodac could not chance his targets. Nor anyone else for that matter.

Re: [NIGHT 1] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions

I have delayed until the last possible moment to post for reasons that should become clear as you read it. I will not vote for the popular option Day 2. My thoughts and then my reason for this decision follow:

Someone survived a lynch Day 1. These explicit possibilities exist:
MovingPictures07 wrote:Homestar Runner - [Homestar Runner] - The lovable, but dimwitted star of this show. Each night, Homestar will host two players to join in his game show the subsequent day period. They will have the duration of the day period to play, and then during the night period, Homestar will declare one of the two the winner and that player will be awarded a prize. One day he can choose to sleep through the phase, thereby making himself unlynchable but causing his vote not to count either, and one night he can sleepwalk, thereby allowing him to follow another player, discovering whom they targeted.
This is possibility #1. If this is the case, then he's not doing anyone any favors by attracting lynches.
MovingPictures07 wrote:MacGyver - [MacGyver] – Cannot be lynched while Penny is alive.
This is possibility #2. If this is the case, then he's not doing anyone any favors by attracting lynches.
MovingPictures07 wrote:Mycroft Holmes - [Sherlock] – Sherlock's brother, and high-ranking member of the British government. Can save someone from lynch three times, but not himself, and not the same player more than once.
This is possibility #3. However, I cannot see Mycroft Holmes saving anyone on Day 1 (except the Three Amigos saving one of their own).
MovingPictures07 wrote:Dr. Fetus - [Super Meat Boy] – The game’s antagonist, Dr. Fetus, is truly evil. Every night, he hides Bandage Girl within a level that he has engineered to confuse Meat Boy; he must choose which level by the end of each day period. If she is found, he flees and tries again. Dr. Fetus cannot be lynched until Meat Boy is successful in finding Bandage Girl a fourth time.
This is possibility #4. If this is the case, then lynching him Day 2 will be fruitless.
MovingPictures07 wrote:Sander Cohen[Bioshock] – Controller and head of Fort Frolic, Cohen is an artist gone mad, to say the least. Now that he has finished his masterpiece, the Quadytch, he is content, only angered by those who dare to doubt him. He survives the first two attempts on his life, whether by lynch or by nightkill. Every odd night, he may use his camera to take a picture of any deceased individual, revealing their role to him. Wins by surviving, but only if everyone else alive has never doubted him.
This is possibility #5. Assuming a "doubter" is someone who has voted for Sander Cohen, then I think it just got really hard for him to win if this possibility is correct.

Yes, I'm aware there are secrets (as I'm sure someone will be swift to point out); I cannot account for those and I never care to speculate.

"But he's Media for fuck's sake," I hear. That may be. Don't stop reading.

++++

On Day 1, people were frightened the most over two particular independent roles. And nobody wanted to discuss this one?
MovingPictures07 wrote:Zodac[Masters of the Universe] – The Cosmic Enforcer (Secrets)
I do not know how our host has retooled Zodac for this, but I am acutely aware of how this independent functioned originally. Zodac will want to make one of his targets the individual most likely to receive the most votes so that he can kill someone else.

I know there will be an urge Day 2 to vote for the one who should have been lynched Day 1, but this is not wise. For if Zodac targets him and someone else he wants dead, and the votes fall heavy upon the former, then Zodac is free to eliminate the latter. And that latter could be you. Or you. Or YOU.

Never mind that we only played two Mafia games on Prog Archives in like 2009.

And never mind that many of us use different usernames across different sites.

And never mind that people as players change over time.

And never mind that words have different contexts depending on how they are used.

Re: [DAY 1] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions

My understanding is that people are voting for INH because he's independent (and frankly) easily lynched at this point.

I do not share the opinion that independents are inherently dangerous; in fact, a way to balance a Mafia game in the civilian's favor is to introduce a serial killer (as an independent killer would be eager to eliminate the other kill). I generally like independents.

If INH has a team (which I don't believe), then I feel very sorry for them.

And for those reason, I'm not voting him.

Although, if INH is Media, then it's best he's lynched today since could obliterate the thread tomorrow. :p

It reminds me a bit of when you made the non-aggression pact with Eloh (I think that was on Rev?) and then also (as best I recall) you saying you would strongly consider following someone's vote in WWE (maybe even mine).

It's a big Fear & Loathing blur for me as I've overdone it a bit and that's why I'm on break other than this game. Note: I'm not asking as a way to call you out but in hopes that you may be able to successfully psycho-analyze our little giraffe.

I made a pact with Eloh in Lost on RM because I could tell she had no BTSC. I was right and always have been right and those who never listen to me in that regard need a spanking.

Regarding WWE, I don't talk about games while they are still active. I just think that's good practice.

Like how there's a secret second phase about this game we don't know about?

I like the sound of that. The difficulty is deciding on who seems bad.
It's quite easy.

Vote for the person that seems the most suspicious. Got it?
Got it! Thanks! :)
However, you are welcome to act wild and try to get the bad guys to vote for you, and then you either have information or the civilians in your wake have information. How did that work out for you?

Ah yes. You lost. :feb:

You've been in a well and a spiked pit. What now? A sewer?
Actually now that you mentioned it, I found myself in the bottom of a very tasty cup of cream soda.
Beer here. I love cream soda though.

Wales, presumably.

I watched Sherlock solely because of the Sherlock game.
I read American Gods solely because of the AG game.
I watched my first episode of Thomas the Tank Engine because of that game.
I saw my first Teen Girl Squad greatness because of Homestar Runner.
I agree with this completely. I just picked up Bioshock, for example, thanks to MP's game. It's scary!
I bought Bioshock because of MP's game. It was one of the greatest video game experiences ever. I still reminisce about it.

I think I mentioned this back then, but my first experience with the game was late at night. It was dark and I was using headphones. If that's not frightening enough, we had just had a birthday party in our home that day. Twice, a balloon brushed up against my leg.

Getting to play alongside Snow Dog in his first game ever and constantly scheme with my epic team of six all throughout playing that truly epic game was something else -- and then to get to play the outed baddie for a few day periods on top of that was the icing on the cake. :feb:

I went out of my way to mimic my civvie game with so much effort that game and to this day I think it is one of my finest performances, if not my finest, up until my fatal mistake of not throwing Snow Dog under the bus and instead trying out a very risky gambit. The fact that FH protected me Night 1 amazed me upon reveal at endgame discussion. I can't believe my game could have ended that quickly otherwise.

Really enjoying all of the discussion, it must be said. Interesting to see which games players think showcase their best this year, regardless of whether they won, and why. Fun to reminisce too. So many amazing games hosted this year.
I really wanted to see you wiggle your way out of that one.

Knowing MP like I do, The poll is probably to produce maximum paranoia. Dude lives by the credo Funny or Die. Ain't nothin' funnier than a bunch of player's losing their shit over a meaningless D0 poll.
The poll means this: Rub one out on your former glories. You are now a private in Full Metal Jacket.

juliets wrote:Hi everyone!

I don't know how ya'll remember so much detail about your roles! For example, in Masters of the Universe all I can remember is having a link through bf to the civv bts was a blast and how MP drove me crazy as an outed baddie. I can't for the life of me remember what I did! I remember one game where I was bad - Kate was one of the people bad with me - and we all had extra bts occasionally with a random group of people to decide who to vote for i think. I can remember I had to fool people into thinking I was good and it seemed hard everytime i had to do it, and felt especially bad about some people like Rusti. That game, whatever it was, is the one I remember doing the best in. Now what game was that guys? I cant remember to save my life.

Ok, I'll do some thinking and maybe some perusing those past games to see if i remember which one that was.
You won McGyver. That seems to fit this description, except the role list has Kate as an Independent. But in your post below that you say Kate, Dex, and BWT were on your team so that must be it.

From the roleplay and fantasy speak of my first role, to the ridiculously devious nature of my second, I had an absolute blast in that game and was only disappointed that it had to be called off just as my team was on the verge of winning.

Is it weird that my two favorite games so far have both had sock accounts?
Grimm's was one of the funnest games ever, especially because of the creative sock puppet accounts. I loved being Rhinfrew Flowingrass and making jokes about not having any legs.
