:haha: :haha: No signal. I just knew I wasn't getting lynched, so when someone suggested that I would be lynched, I just told them that, as in "Don't count your chickens before they're hatched." A common idiom, not a signal.
Just like how I interpreted Golden's comment about cheap rope as an indication that he was Hector. :ninja:

Here's the Kit business.

Epignosis wrote:Dear Baudelaires,

I hope this message reaches you and reaches you well. I regret that I don't have any insight on the death of Hal, unfortunately. At this stage I can only ask that you refrain from voting for anyone who has changed residences today.

When it is convenient, Violet, if you could be a dear, please include a confused face in one of your posts. You are such a clever girl that no one will suspect you of being bewildered!

Klaus , because you like to read, I would like you to include a fighting image in one your posts. Some men fight with their brawn, but reading men fight with their brains.

And finally, Sunny, with your razor sharp teeth, please post a face showing his teeth three times in a row in the same post. Show me those pearly whites! :D :D :D

Now I must go have a dose of salts.

Yours truly,

Yesterday was a good day; I am pleased.

First, I will share with you why I thought Long Con was good. Due to his "Don't count your chickens" remark about getting lynched, I interpreted that to be a signal that Long Con was Hector. However, when the tied lynch was neither stopped nor switched, I determined that Long Con is not Hector, because he would not have taken such a risk. I do not suspect him, but I don't believe he is Hector.

Second, I trust sig. I think he saw something in Glorfindel's activities that made him immediately question sprityo upon replacing in. None of that suggests that sig was a teammate looking for easy credit. I also doubt sig is on the opposing team.

Unfortunately, and third, I only detected one of three of my proposed signals. I fear that Scotty may have been one of you. I hope we may try again:

Violet, please post this at some point:

Klaus, please post this at some point:

Sunny, please post this at some point: :hugs:

I will be the man smoking two cigarettes. :mafia:

Yesterday was abysmal (maybe), but we can only blame ourselves. May the experience ever motivate us all to perform our proper duties to the best of our ability.

Violet, if you invent something useful, why not send it my way? I like things.

I fear we may have lost poor Klaus, or else he isn't checking his mail.

You have blood on your hands, Sunny, but you can't be blamed- what was to be was going to be. Speaking of blood, if you're still keen on taking some Night 4, my best suggestion is Elohcin. She is barely participating, and perhaps she is hiding behind her uninformed ways to coast by. That's a terrible strategy (short term gain, long term loss, I say), but I believe that is what she is doing. In any case whatsoever, she isn't helpful to us. If you would be a dear and remove her, that would be grand.

Klaus, if you are alive and reading this, please post the following sentence at any time Day 4:

"I was going to disagree with you, but the more I think about it, the more I like what you're saying."

Feel free to quote me at any point if you must. You are very important, and never let anyone tell you differently.

It's getting late children. Lock your windows.

Night 4:
Epignosis wrote:Deadly Baudelaires,

Yesterday was ghastly, but the circumstances were not in our favor given the nature of the poll. We may only brush ourselves off and do what tomorrow bids us do, should we live to see the light.

Violet, I do hope you know what you are doing with your gadgets and gizmos. We are starting to reach the point where we will need to rely on the mafia voting for and killing one another, and that's not the best position to be in, believe you me. Also, if you could make a miraculous weight-loss device on this New Years Day, that would be great too.

Klaus, I do hope you are alive and well. At your earliest convenience, please ask in the thread, "Who the hell is LaMarcus Aldridge?" or some such thing. We'll know what you mean. And do try to catch up and post more, hmm?

Sunny, I trust you to eliminate whomever it is you feel should be removed. I hope your choice tonight is a good one, even if not a golden one. I think you are doing a great job in every respect.

It is unacceptable that a lot of people who were not on the poll contributed very little to the discussion, or did so in a very limited fashion. Sorsha's contributions boil my blood, for example. Aside from talk about Eloh, Long Con did little but discuss roles and mechanics. Again.

Alas, I rather feel like we are going about this backwards, and should be lynching people who look good. Does that make any sense? Perhaps I'm just becoming paranoid. I apologize if I have not been very good at finding the Troupe or the Guardians. The limited poll options were undesirable. The level of discussion was not wide enough. And it isn't helpful that Dom isn't posting or trying to help. Hopefully that changes. I know it sounds like I'm making excuses. But there it is.

As a wise man once told me, "We just strive to do better than we did yesterday."

Yesterday was rather harrowing, I am afraid. I should not be put under such duress. My constitution is not fit for such encounters. It often feels like people are deliberately ignoring the most obvious things in favor of believing the most ludicrous. Also, it appears we are without Klaus.

To add to my troubles, moths have eaten holes in two of my suits. I must have a dose of salts. :pout:

On to the good news:

Violet was darling enough to send me the most precious gift, and with it, I discovered that DrWilgy was that dreadful Carmelita Spats. Therefore we can be sure at least two ghastlies have exited stage left, as it were, if not more. I recommend looking through his posts as well as those of the departed Elohcin's to determine who is not in cahoots with them and who may yet be.

Once again, I like sig's confidence- this time regarding MM. He was right about Glorfindel, so perhaps he is right again. That is an avenue I shall be exploring more in depth, should I be able.

As far as I know, I have not been blocked at all- if none of you have, it may mean that The Person of Indeterminate Gender is now The Person of Indeterminate Alive-Status. Something to think about.

I have my doubts that Long Con is bad with Elohcin and DrWilgy, but his present behavior is concerning. What if the Day 2 lynch was between two members of the Troupe? I haven't thought this through, and my time is limited, as I am pressed to get this letter to the courier on time.

Oh, and I am under the impression that Golden is Hector.

-Kit

P.S. Please don't miss any more votes- the life you save may be your own. Or mine. xoxoxoxoxo
Night 6 I didn't get to send a letter. The Day ended early. Apparently my letter was moot by that point.

sig wrote: Oh and epi why did you use my item on Camilate and not Olaf? You made me super paranoid with that.
I wasn't dare going to use that item of a role that says:
COUNT OLAF'S TROUPE (4) Kill every odd night. Need the civvies and Ghastly Guardians dead to win.
Count Olaf – He is obsessed with the Baudelaire fortune, and will stop at nothing to get it. Olaf is a master of digsuise, so if role checked he will come back as a random civvie. SECRET
That had the potential to waste the item. Furthermore, I wanted to have a crack at the other team, since we knew nothing whatsoever about them. I also didn't want to choose a role with secrets. Learning that Wilgy was bad and was dead is what ultimately solidified my suspicion of Eloh, and I was able to push that with confidence. Not that I was given much freedom to do otherwise, since I almost got lynched that same day. :meany:

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 6]

DFaraday wrote:Day 6 - The Beastly Backfire

There is a saying which goes, "The best laid plans of mice and men so often go awry." However, this is an inaccurate saying, as most mice are incapable of planning, and most plans of men that go awry are not the best ones. A very irresponsible man named Aesop was responsible for this and many other befuddling aphorisms (two words here meaning "confusing phrases"), sayings which continue to mislead young minds even to this day.

The best laid plans of the beachgoers so often went awry that they decided that the best course of action was to stop planning altogether. They decided to spend the day constructing a wheel containing the names of all the surviving beachgoers, then to spin it at random to decide whom to kill. Round, round, round, round, and round it went, finally landing on Quin. They circled him slowly, eyeing his frame with a vicious intensity. Ever so slowly the circle closed in around poor Quin, the bloodlust in the air truly and frighteningly palpable.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash behind them, and the group saw that Dom and Sig had pushed a bookcase on top of LC, crushing him.

LC has been lynched. He was Olivia Caliban, and a member of the Village of Fowl Devotees.

It is now Night 6. You have 24 hours to send in your PMs.
This is outrageous. I can't believe you would allow that. Truthfully, I've never before seen anything so disgraceful! What were you thinking? Does anybody ever pay attention to anything anymore? I mean my God. You should be ashamed.

Aesop never said that. Robert Burns did.

I'm happy with my vote because it's on a person who said I'm bitching instead of hunting.

Yes there is. We still don't know why Glorfindel subbed out or the conversations he may have had with his team about it. He could have told his team to bus him for the civ cred towards the beginning of the game.
The fact that he was replaced anyway does counter that theory to a degree, but there's no good reason to think that both couldn't have happened.
No team in their right mind would ever say 'yes' to this.

If Glorf comes in to my team and asks to be bussed day one, I tell him 'ask for a replacement, we are not bussing you'. What a waste of a limited resource that would be. Especially in a game where you only get a kill once every second day.

That is a very good question, LC, Quin, or maybe Daisy.

I think Olaf is between Dom or LC. Rereading it I'm not convinced by LC explanation agaisnt my case, also yes when he voted he did tie it three ways, but why tie it three ways? Why not put your opponent ahead of you? Either way I think the key is in day 2.

I'm agaisnt lynching Daisy right now though, so I guess LC or Quin maybe you, but I don't see a good case. I'm flying blind minus my Klaus suspicion, but I think it's pretty good.

I'd also add we should watch Epi, not lynch him right now, since I do still think he is a civ, but if we had a deepwolf it is either him or LC.

Elaborate.
Of everyone alive, why would Olaf want zebra dead? Zebra was hardly participating and apt to miss additional votes.
Also, zebra was one of the more likely lynch candidates. I found it very puzzling, and a poor decision on Olaf's part. There are a few players that are seen as very Civ and are not likely to be lynched that would have been smarter choices in my opinion.
Maybe that kill got redirected.
But Elohsir was already dead.
That's right. I'm lumping the Day and Night phase outcomes together.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 6]

When sprityo subbed back in, his first order of business was SALT. Anybody remember that?

The first thing sprityo did was take umbrage at something spacedaisy said and he concluded with, "So if my views were the similar to sig, then where was the suspicion on him, Daisy?" I think that's further evidence in favor of both spacedaisy and sig.

In retrospect, the Scotty kill looks like simple revenge (remember that sprityo subbed in Night 1).

After that-
sprityo wrote:Chaos marmot much?

I don't want to pitch in on the DDL-LC thing since I might be biased against LC. I am however interested in why epi thinks quin is bad so I'll have to look into that a little bit sometime later
sprityo decided to leave the "DDL-LC thing" alone. Of all the discussion and accusations going on at the time though, sprityo claimed to be interested in why I thought Quin was bad. I'm of two minds here. sprityo, the lead candidate to be lynched, would have been looking for an alternative to his own death, no?

Perhaps looking at subsequent Quin posts will be useful.
sprityo wrote:@MP I'm on my way home after being out ALL day, so I can throw you some stuff then

I personally wanted to look into quin and why people didn't like em, even though I think quin is pretty okay looking off the top of my head?
Why would my accusation of Quin be interesting to sprityo if sprityo thought Quin was "pretty okay looking?"
sprityo wrote:Let me rephrase that, why quin would be scum in association with another player, cause I don't think t was just a blatant "I think quin is bad" thing
This clarification is more difficult to understand than the original statement.

I don't want to be replaced. Normally I would when I cannot be totally on top of a game, but I'm going to try to become as engaged as possible. Maybe you can replace someone else though if that does happen.

Why shouldn't you be lynched? Specifically, point me to something in your 2.0 incarnation's batch of posts that should lead me and others to believe you to be town.

From me personally or in Florida posts? Because I'm pretty sure we've established he was just having a bad time. Unless you're dig, and insist on following a meta
That's a mild point in MP's favor. Although:

I have to wonder why Sprit replaced Glor. Glor was pretty active. I know glor has a hard time being mafia, so maybe it was too much pressure.

This is all I have to go on right now, unfortunately. So, *voting Sprit*
I think there are much more significant topics being discussed right now which make for better votes than than voting based on a flimsy hypothesis on why someone might have subbed out.

Okay I somehow managed to miss eloh saying this and I agree with quin. This is lazy playing, an easy out.
Here is Quin's defense of sprityo and sprityo's response, characterizing a successful lynch as "lazy playing, an easy out."

Yet another point in sig's favor.

Hiding in the back
:ponder:

This post is all kinds of confusing. LC looks worse but sprityo would probably vote DDL instead?
sprityo wrote:Epi, youre the one that said youre voting for one of LC, DDL, Sprityo.

Has that changed then?
sprityo seemed to want me to consider other people besides these three. This would be a minor point against LC, except by this point I had already made it clear that I wasn't voting LC. The most logical interpretation was that sprityo was concerned about not only self-preservation, but not exposing teammates.

I didn't say exactly that.

To be clear, that was in response to someone else. I may have meant "of those four names."
So you havent made up your mind but you wish to cease further talk about LC because- ????

in the current situation? no

if it was just the two of us with no chance of anyone else, yes.
what about the situation now?
well we have time, and time will tell who isnt lucky

Epi still hasnt voted correct? and he also thinks LC is town
On the other hand, this exchange makes it clear that, for whatever reason, sprityo didn't want Long Con lynched.
sprityo wrote:@DrWilgy, do you have any ideas on who you'd vote?

linki: yeah, but if we yknow, agree to help eachother out  then there wont be a chance of either me or LC getting lynched. as crappy as that sounds
Indeed.

So that's a huge question for me: Why did sprityo want to keep Long Con alive? sprityo was even miffed when I "made him" vote LC:

I think LC's post is good stuff. If LC was a teammate of sprityo2, and his team knew LC couldn't be lynched, then sprityo's sudden vote against LC wouldn't make any sense.

I am less likely to vote LC now.
Why doesn't sprit's vote against LC make sense in that context? It could be seen as distancing. It would be odd for sprit not to make the vote. Wouldn't he be entirely unafraid to make the vote knowing LC could get lynched and then they both end up not lynched? Especially if LC is honest about his save being for day two only...
"Sudden" is the key word here.

Distancing would look differently, I would think. sprityo2 would be more aggressive toward a teammate he knew couldn't be lynched. He would have done so earlier in the day instead of waiting until the last minute.

Look at his last few posts:

I'm more worried about accuracy than conviction. Completely agree that LC's focus has been on discrediting DDL in general than addressing accusations of noncommitalness/blending, which I think was the most important point brought up. (I do agree with LC on the specifics of the Glor statement. But that goes back to attacking the accuser, not the accusation.)
I just don't understand how a person could, three separate times, twist the truth to make me look worse... and it's completely innocent. Maybe once, it could be a mistake. A misread. But THREE TIMES? That indicates that his primary intention is to make people believe I'm bad, and that he's looking for ways to use thread stuff to push that, accuracy be damned.

He took the fact that I had a weak and noncommittal Day 1, and decided I was a weak member of the pack, and moved to capitalize on that.
to be fair you voted me day 1 for basically the same reason

And yes, it's true that wagering money on the outcome of a lynch could be illegal. Please refrain from that. It's in our site guidelines.

If pissing you off lets me know whether or not you are good or bad, then yes.

Why can't you answer a question? Are you bad?
