By the way, I never miss votes on purpose. I hate missing votes. I really did miss a vote because a friend came over and we stayed up late talking about movies. I missed the vote where I got lynched because I fell asleep (which happened once before, actually).

So frustrating being deaded in a game where I had so much to say!!!! Although I was convinced that Elo was Hiram and I would have entirely messed with that whole theory. On the show, Hiram's Violet Head bought Cecil in an auction and used him to protect Dana several times (before returning Cecil to himself). Alas.
Fun game to play and to follow from the grave.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [ENDGAME]
Yes, I faked silencing. Then I got silenced for real.
It was hard to be enthusiastic with a team that could be worked out deductively. My vote was known to be worth two, so it was only a matter of time before I got caught. Eloh's fake flip would be quickly shown to be false, whether by no one being silenced or by the messenger posting a message. And Long Con was already dead.
On top of that all, Lorab's protection worked only against us- not the other team.

Eloh wasn't in Blue Velvet. She was in Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
timmer was in both, but barely.
Who came up with the idea for the Poppy and Trump curses? I don't believe it was either one of them.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
Eloh and timmer were teammates. I'm satisfied on that regard.Elohcin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 4:26 pmYes, I missed epi because I was following INH's list. So he is now added to the list I wrote earlier: Epi, INH, timmer, and Wilgy. The reaction INH is having here to lorab is off-putting. Isn't it the point of the game to try and find the baddies, make a good case for them, and then try to get others to follow you in lynching who you think is bad? That's all I think lorab is doing here. And she is right that you are trying to steer us clear of the people I just mentioned. I really think out of the four, timmer ia probably not the curser. He's barely been here. I also don't think it's likely that epi is. I don't think he would incriminate himself like that. Wilgy...maybe. You...maybe. I can see either of you doing something like this, but wilgy's reaction to all this talk compared to your reaction screams at you being it.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 3:40 pmOn the flip, I think you are trying to steer us toward those people, which isn't making me feel very good about you.LoRab wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 3:33 pmIf you look at the lists I posted above, I already did that.
You missed Epi. To be fair, INH had missed him first, and I assume you were basing off his list.
Also, what do you think about Jack's thought that there could be 2 different players on the team who were each in one of the games?
It seems unlikely, to me, that someone following a game and not playing would know that 2 different self-imposed posts were a thing in 2 different games. I get what you're saying, but I think that it's likely that there are people on that team who were in both games. It's not just that they were both posting restrictions from old games--they were both self imposed restrictions.insertnamehere wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 3:22 pm Is it really not conceivable to anyone other myself that someone who wasn't directly linked to one of those games either read the thread or was aware of the gimmicks from both games?
I mean, come on. The people insisting that it HAS to be someone who played both games are more than a little suspicious to me right now.
Think of it like this: Rico's curse on D2 attracted a crazy amount of heat for people involved with Blue Velvet. By intentionally choosing to do the same thing with Dom and Rot3k, they're essentially designing a Venn Diagram of people they want us to look at.
Odds are seeming higher and higher to me that the Faceless Old Woman was involved with one at most of these games, and researched gimmicks players used in games she wasn't in to mislead the town and cause mislynches.
There are two possible motives FOW has for cursing people with old-game-specific posting restrictions: Sheer fuckery, or to mislead the town.
I believe it to be the latter.
I think you're trying to steer us away from those people, which isn't making me feel very good about you.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 2]
I don't think Dom and Eloh were bad together. She went Marcus hunting with Tony.Elohcin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 8:12 pm Dom. I don't like this back and forth you're having with golden. I think golden is civ, and even though this may be civ on civ, I don't think it is. You seem to be tunneling. Yes, you recently started engaging with others, but I think it's only to try to save yourself/make yourself look better. The interactions don't seem very genuine. Golden, on the other hand, has not only been taking part in the back and forth with you, but has also been playing what looks like a genuine and meaningful game, engaging in other conversations. It seems as though you may feel stuck in hole and you're only focused on climbing out of that hole. I've been in that position before as a baddie and know what it's like. I just cannot decide if I ought to vote you or take a chance that Tony may be marcus. It would be great to get any baddie today, but awesome to get the +2 vote guy.
With that in mind... what's the general thoughts on tony being marcus? It was mentioned and talked about a little bit earlier today but I haven't heard a general consensus. I don't stay up late like many of you and I need to vote soon. I'd love some feedback on my thoughts.
Yeah, I don't think Dom is bad with Eloh.Elohcin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 8:28 pmWTF Dom, give a lady time to respond. watch out for timmer never actually catching up. that's classic baddie timmer.
When I come up civ, remember how wrong Golden was. Remember how I was told repeatedly that I had written nothing when I wrote many posts giving well thought out reasons for him being bad
Watch out for INH hiding behind being *quirky*
Watch out Elo pretending she can't read my posts.
Thank you sprit for your response. I've made up my mind.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia
This is a question Eloh would ask a teammate. What does she care about unicorns being gay?
This is a defense of Tony.Elohcin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:57 pmI actually like this response to Epi. I think if someone grasps onto this "reason" for why Tony may be mafia, they should be looked at more closely as maybe being mafia themselves.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 10:36 amOoh. Forgot about how the polls worked. (In case my language gets misconstrued again, forgot here means "I neglected to consider") Back on my home site we do the whole "vote in bold in-post" thing, so I typically play with a pretty trackable record and that influences how I play. Even here it would be easier to check in on the thread, look at votes, and have an idea where we stand, and if I recall correctly from Mass Effect, we would mark votes with orange so we would have that record. I assume that is more or less a standard thing.Epignosis wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 12:34 amHere's why:
The hedging language here (might, just might) tells me he isn't really invested in his own idea. If TonyStarkPrime were serious about finding a useful way to track votes in the thread, he wouldn't suggest one idea, get thwarted by Eloh, and then just say "It just might be good to come up with a way to do that." He is talking about how to track something that doesn't matter, since even when votes can be changed, it isn't like we can see who voted for whom when.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2017 11:19 pmIt might help for searching the thread to check vote patterns. It just might be good to come up with a way to do that.Elohcin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:19 pm As long as we keep up with the thread, the unchangeable votes shouldn't be a problem. If you need to take notes as to who is suspecting who throughout the day, then do so. I don't think we need to assifn a specific emoji to that. What if I want to use that emoji for fun?
"But Epi, you don't know TonyStarkPrime! What if this is how he normally is?"
"But Epi, didn't he die Day 1 in Pokemon? Wouldn't it be cruel to lynch him Day 1 here?"Spoiler: show
Spoiler: show
I don't quite understand the whole hedging thing. I had an idea, someone said "I don't like that idea" and then I said "well maybe there is another way". Which to me would suggest that I'm still invested in the general idea. The word "might" is more of a "I'm not going to force an idea through if people don't want it" than a "well, I don't really care about what I'm saying".
@jack - do you really believe epi believes his theory or donyou think he made it up to see who would latch onto it? I'm thinking the latter.
In reply to Tony. Why doesn't my suggestion work?
Read thread. Take notes on who voted for whom or who suggested voting for whom at what time. Read over notes before voting.
This seems like a fine solution and you don't have to scroll through the thread over and over.
Lorab, who is FEB based on?
I'm going to post this and keep reading. I know his annoys some. Don't like my style, oh well.
speedchuck isn't bad with Eloh.Elohcin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 5:34 pmI may be being picky in this but I have to vote and it has to go on someone. I don't like the whole smiley chart that chuck laid out for us. Above you see his explanation to Lorab about her specific smiley. But why not just say that in the post. It's day 1. Why not get real. Day 0 is behind us and we are supposed to get a little more serious now. If he were civ, I think he would have given a small description as well so we knew exactly how he felt. Instead he remained vague with smiles. Sorry chuck, but at this moment, I think there is a better possibility of you being bad this game than any other player. I must vote. And you're it.speedchuck wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 4:47 pmIt means you have a decent amount of content and none of it makes me think you're town. Which makes me uneasy.
But for D1, my reads are all as ill-defined as that, so the smilies sum them up pretty good.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 4]
I need to gather my thoughts, and I am not sure tonight is the night to do that.
From what I remember, I think lynching people because they post in a way you don't like is lazy and gives mafia an easy way to vote. Please don't do that. If you want to lynch Ricochet, do it because of a good reason that he's bad, not a lousy one that he's a distraction. INH's vote for Ricochet is reactionary and expected. Quin's vote I have to look back on. It was sprityo's vote that was the nastiest and least rational to me.

Neverwhere is Pamela. Nobody has been off the poll.
Pamela Winchell
The former mayor of Night Vale and current Director of Emergency Press Conferences. Pamela may hold a press conference to remove someone from the lynch poll on three occasions.
Tony could be:
Tamika Flynn
The 13-year-old renowned destroyer of librarians and commander of an army of child soldiers, Tamika has amazing strength of will under duress. Tamika blocks a player on even nights. *Secrets*

Kevin
Kevin is the host of Desert Bluffs Community Radio. He uses his dark, soulless eyes to silence a player each night. *Secrets*

Hiram McDaniels
Literally a five-headed dragon; who cares? *Secrets*

The Man in the Tan Jacket
Countless residents have seen him, but no one can seem to remember exactly what he looks like - just that he has a tan jacket and a deerskin suitcase, and he has been spotted all over town. *Secrets*

mostly everything ive read from Epi though reeks of defensive dismissive words. Maybe that's how he plays? but it looks unnatural to me. However, i dont think it warrants him a vote.... yet. were he to vote INH today it would definitely prompt me to vote for Epi, but in general he hasnt been playing optimally IMO

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
I'm sure you can guess my concern. A Day 1 missed vote, fine- but missing the Day 2 vote when LC got lynched just because you hadn't read everything looks like hiding to me.timmer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 4:19 pm Yeah, conversation is def. good, I had forgotten howfast these speed games move.
@Epi, I don't think I covered it, but I wasn't present in the game for the first vote, and the second vote I hadn't yet caught up, so I didn't see how randomly throwing out a vote would help. As for the night poll, it seemed like a typical night poll, so I just grabbed a spot, I don't even remember what my opition was.
Reading back, day 1 I would have essentially randomed my vote if I were here, there was nothing in my read that would have caught my attention. As for yesterday? I'm not sure. I don't think I'd have voted LC, so good on those who did.
For today, I'm still unsure. I ended up reading damn fast, and I'm at work. I won't be leading any charges today, for sure, but once others do, I'll find the time to ISO their suspicions and make a udgment.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
timmer, I'm looking at the votes. You've missed both Day phase votes, but voted in the Night phase. I know you said you weren't aware anything had started for the first vote, but did you say why you missed the second vote? If you had voted Day 1 and 2, who would you have voted for and why?

Dom parodied Trump in a game. What game was that?Dom wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:50 pmWas the point.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:46 pm*Sad!*Dom wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:39 pm That's an outright lie considering I've tried to engage with INH (he all but ignored me), have made multiple points of contact with Tony, and just probed Eloh.
But cute.
You can't say you were suspicious of me since day 1 AND also say that my Night 1 rebuke of you is teh source of your suspicion, Golden. Which is it? I've asked this question before, and you've ignored it because you have no answer. Sad !:cheeky:
But you also didn't play the game where I parodied Donald Trump for most of it.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
Thanatopsis
By William Cullen Bryant
To him who in the love of Nature holds
Communion with her visible forms, she speaks
A various language; for his gayer hours
She has a voice of gladness, and a smile
And eloquence of beauty, and she glides
Into his darker musings, with a mild
And healing sympathy, that steals away
Their sharpness, ere he is aware. When thoughts
Of the last bitter hour come like a blight
Over thy spirit, and sad images
Of the stern agony, and shroud, and pall,
And breathless darkness, and the narrow house,
Make thee to shudder, and grow sick at heart;—
Go forth, under the open sky, and list
To Nature’s teachings, while from all around—
Earth and her waters, and the depths of air—
Comes a still voice—
Yet a few days, and thee
The all-beholding sun shall see no more
In all his course; nor yet in the cold ground,
Where thy pale form was laid, with many tears,
Nor in the embrace of ocean, shall exist
Thy image. Earth, that nourished thee, shall claim
Thy growth, to be resolved to earth again,
And, lost each human trace, surrendering up
Thine individual being, shalt thou go
To mix for ever with the elements,
To be a brother to the insensible rock
And to the sluggish clod, which the rude swain
Turns with his share, and treads upon. The oak
Shall send his roots abroad, and pierce thy mould.
Yet not to thine eternal resting-place
Shalt thou retire alone, nor couldst thou wish
Couch more magnificent. Thou shalt lie down
With patriarchs of the infant world—with kings,
The powerful of the earth—the wise, the good,
Fair forms, and hoary seers of ages past,
All in one mighty sepulchre. The hills
Rock-ribbed and ancient as the sun,—the vales
Stretching in pensive quietness between;
The venerable woods—rivers that move
In majesty, and the complaining brooks
That make the meadows green; and, poured round all,
Old Ocean’s gray and melancholy waste,—
Are but the solemn decorations all
Of the great tomb of man. The golden sun,
The planets, all the infinite host of heaven,
Are shining on the sad abodes of death,
Through the still lapse of ages. All that tread
The globe are but a handful to the tribes
That slumber in its bosom.—Take the wings
Of morning, pierce the Barcan wilderness,
Or lose thyself in the continuous woods
Where rolls the Oregon, and hears no sound,
Save his own dashings—yet the dead are there:
And millions in those solitudes, since first
The flight of years began, have laid them down
In their last sleep—the dead reign there alone.
So shalt thou rest, and what if thou withdraw
In silence from the living, and no friend
Take note of thy departure? All that breathe
Will share thy destiny. The gay will laugh
When thou art gone, the solemn brood of care
Plod on, and each one as before will chase
His favorite phantom; yet all these shall leave
Their mirth and their employments, and shall come
And make their bed with thee. As the long train
Of ages glide away, the sons of men,
The youth in life’s green spring, and he who goes
In the full strength of years, matron and maid,
The speechless babe, and the gray-headed man—
Shall one by one be gathered to thy side,
By those, who in their turn shall follow them.
So live, that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan, which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

Lynch me, lynch Tony, lynch Ricochet. Maybe by then, people will wake up.
Jack still can't explain his theory that one or two of us were trying to save LC, when all Long Con's teammate had to do was vote Dom. I could have easily voted Dom because I voted Dom Day 1. He's going with this because it helps him set the agenda for Day 3. Don't let it happen.
I'm leaning town on Dom, so no I don't particularly, but if he is bad I think it more likely he is lcs teammate than him being a politician based on their interactions with each other and me and the Nutella kill.

Lorab, I was going off memory. I was not tracking the votes. I read back through people's reasons for voting LC, saw your comment about a tie, and remembered reading it without seeing a tie in the poll.
