Also, there's an awful lot of sheep in this game. As well as people who (I suspect) aren't reading.

I remember Epig talking awhile back in another game about why baddies win so often on this site. I think I'm finally starting to understand why.

I see I'm getting lynched today. Alright.

Too be honest, it's probably for the better this way. Work suddenly picked up and is crazy busy, and this coming week is going to get even worse. I'd feel bad asking for a replacement at this point, so I figure it's better if I just get lynched. So I'm self-voting to stir that along.

Take a look at the people who latched onto the case on me that others had built. That's where you'll find your baddies I bet.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 8)

Well, I went to try and vote for myself and missed it due to the poll ending. Oh well.

If Synonym does get lynched over me though, I think I want to start looking at the people who originally decided to push the case on him. Because right now, I feel like the baddies are subtly pitting neutrals against neutrals and getting us to lynch them to eventually try and outnumber the civs that way.

Linki: Well great then. That's about as awful as that result could have been.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 8)

Looks like I don't have much of a choice in where I vote. Going to vote Synonym to try and save myself.

Also, we have this...
Synonym wrote:Civilians could always attempt to recruit me tonight. If it succeeds then they've got confirmation going into tomorrow. If it fails then I'm obviously scum.

As it stands the most civilians gain from my lynch today is a few names of people wagoning an easy vote. That doesn't necessarily make them scum it just makes them lazy.

But yeah, when I flip neutral feel free to eat your words.

And I also stand by my statement that I haven't used a single night power. Once again this will be verified by my death so any contradictions to that in the thread may be useful intel. Or at least verified in the sense that I will have had no reason to lie about it.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 8)

Alright, so I'm caught up now. Although I really don't have much to say about other players because I feel I'm a bit lost at this point. I don't have any really strong suspicions I've developed on my own from anyone else.

It seems like I'm gathering some suspicion of possibly being Uzbargainer. From what I've gathered, it comes down to multiple things. I've seen some (can't remember which players specifically now) say it's because of the timing of my vote for Wilgy. The only thing I can think is the thread got locked to try and frame me, or that Uzi wanted to lock the thread when someone who wasn't a teammate wasn't under the threat of being lynched yesterday. I've seen others state (also can't remember who, so sorry) that because of me not getting lynched on Day 1 that could mean I'm possibly Uzi. Although IIRC, we potentially had a 16 or 17 way tie on Day 1 so I'm not really sure how we can draw definitive conclusions about who would have been lynched if no manipulation had occurred. If you really think I am bad though, I'd prefer people go ahead and vote for me. That way once I got lynched, it could help to start narrowing down who Uzi could possibly be.

All that being said, I need to vote at some point. So I need to reflect on that decision. I'll be here if anyone has any questions.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 7)

Sorry I still haven't been around much. Working in retail on a national holiday weekend isn't the most fun/exciting of times. I work early tomorrow, and then have the following 2 days off. I promise I am keeping up, but due to lack of time and energy, I'm not contributing much. Hopefully in the next 24-48 hours, I will be able to start changing that.

I agree with what llama just said. All these Synonym votes from out of nowhere feel very off to me. I will not be voting for him at this time.

I also will not be voting for TH at this time. The case against him from Scotty actually makes me feel it's more likely TH is neutral.

Wilgy on the other hand survives a lynch via a switch, and then just happens to be "silenced" today. I didn't think a potential teammate of Bubbles would defend her the way he did, but given what has happened since EoD on Day 6, I no longer feel as confident about Wilgy as I did before. I think it more like he's Captain Uzi or on that team.

Votes DrWilgy

Linkis galore: I'm fine ending the lynch before 1AM if all the votes are in earlier. Or even most of them. Mine is about to be in anyway. :P

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 6)

Alright. I'm convinced enough from Daisy's reasoning to put a vote on llama. The whole going hard after Tinybubbles thing and then dropping her completely by not voting for her seems really off to me. Like a teammate who's trying to distance, but still think there's is a chance to save his partner in crime.

I'm also not quite seeing the Wilgy case yet. I just don't think his Day 5 defense of Tinybubbles is indicative of him defending a teammate. I think if it was, he would have started defending her much sooner than he did. I also think she was recruited well before Night 4/Day 5 so take that for what you will.

Sorry I haven't been active this day phase. Working retail on a busy holiday weekend does not allow for much free time. I'm hoping to be a bit more involved come next week. Should have a bit more free time once Monday evening rolls around.

Spacedaisy wrote:Ok, I don't know why no one is talking about this, but I will. Llama, the Bubbles lynch flip makes you look incredibly bad. You came out of the gate on Bubbles for something ridiculous. And yet when it came down to her lynch you didn't vote for her. Not only did you not vote for her but you made two separate posts talking about how Uzbarg would have no reason not to use his power, one time saying that we learn zero information from the switch. The last time you said anything negative about Bubbles was in Night 4 and all it said was everything bubbles said read insincere to you. That is it. So you go from being after her hard at the start and then you barely say anything about her lynch? Then after her flip you come out yelling about how you knew it and you were right, etc. taking credit for a lynch you played absolutely no part in at all. Your only explanation about why you didn't vote for her was to say you didn't think your vote would matter so you put your vote somewhere else. And if that was why you were doing it, why wouldn't you say that in your vote. Why wouldn't you express your approval of the lynch train that was forming? Instead you tried to convince people who were waffling to vote for DH instead. I think you are Uz and you recruited Bubbles. I think today's dog and pony show about looking for Bubbles teammates is your way to hopefully direct attention anywhere but you.
I find the bolded points here most interesting. I shall consider this.

Well then. Quite a bloody night last night. RIPIYWG Dom, DP, and Rico!

Reading over Wilgy's defense, I think speculating if he would defend a teammate to the extent he did if very WIFOM-y. But I also don't feel like I know him well enough to know if he would try to pull off a move like that. To anyone who has played other games with him in the past, is that a move you could see him attempting?

Because if you have a lynch switch power, why not use it?
I guess.
I think it's clear cut honestly -- that lynch switch gets used regardless of Bubbles' alignment. If she's bad, it delays her death. If she's not on the team responsible for the switch, then it ensures someone else dies instead AND Bubbles remains a highly likely lynch after that. Two for the price of one.
I'll repeat here that I suspect get not only because the lynch for switched but because her response to it seemed exaggerated. I would expect her to be all, "I don't know why" but now a paragraph of her going on about how she is so confused and she doesn't know what happened and she em pmed the hosts, etc. It is overkill. It don't feel like a natural civilian response. I think She knows why the lynch got switched, in fact I think it was her teammate that did it.
The bolded part there is why I'm voting for her. Her reaction to the lynch going down the way it did makes me think she has knowledge of what happened.

OBJECTION!!! I disagree with you here Daisy! Along with everyone else who thinks Bubbles is bad! A lot of players here have stated that the reaction from bubbles didn't seem genuine? Explain this to me, what words in precise do this to you? as far as I'm concerned, the way bubbles has been communicating hasn't changed.

Examples:
TinyBubbles wrote:cause i get asked the same question every game! i didn't want to declare " i'm CIV" for the 109485734th time so i made a joke about being bad.
TinyBubbles wrote:Hey all i've been reeeeeally busy and just havent had time to read all posts, sorry. i'm willing to change my vote from turniphead to either golden or bass since that's where things seem to be headed.. golden hasn't seemed totally his upfront self like from previous games, it's giving me goosebumps. what's the case against bass though?
Do please point out exactly what concerns you about bubbles exaggeration here, in the same yellow fashion as mine if you disagree with me. Also, why is Bubbles writing out a larger paragraph to defend herself bad? I personally like the fact that we are seeing more from her at this point.

I've always tried to focus more on quality rather than quantity in mafia. While her wording and tone hasn't changed at all, that's also part of the reason I'm suspicious of her. Especially given that her wording and tone have not changed at all through the course of the game, despite the scrutiny she has come under. When I start getting accused, I get hella defensive and try to pick through the arguments against me to try and dispel them. I feel like TinyBubbles keeps throwing the same retorts out over and over again. Most of them a variation of "But I'm civ", "This game is hard to keep up with", etc.

Canuck, you stated that you didn't trust Bubbles based on this right?
TinyBubbles wrote:damn it, i just can't vote golden again. i don't care if he's a baddie or not, it feels like rejecting a friend. he's totally right about him and other talkative players like MP and epi getting heat just for talking, rather than for the content of their posts. it isn't right, and the game would be dead in the water without their input, i don't think anyone should be punished for posting a lot, even though it obviously makes them a bigger target.

hope you have a good trip golden! i wont vote you out though!!!
and i know my own arguments are flipping back and forth but thats what happens when you get emotionally invested in a game like this ><

voting rey on golden's testimony
Now, I would like to point out that Golden did come up as neutral. Did this affect your judgement on this statement whatsoever? If I missed it, do point it out to me. Bubbles didn't vote for a friend, believing in them, as we all should have considering we lynched a neutral.

Also, you pointed out that it was wrong for her to be emotionally invested even though she hadn't shared much? am I correct? Are you saying that emotional investment is a standard for everyone? simply reading and staying caught up seems to be difficult for many players here and you think that has no emotional affect? especially with all the emotional gameplay happening at the time of the post?

Lastly, I would like to ask this, is there a situation in which Ubzargan wouldn't use his power? Even if Azura uses her power to deflect a lynch train, Ubzargan would still redirect the lynch to someone of his choosing. To save a team mate, stall, even to kill someone he doesn't like. Because of this we shouldn't blame the use of Ubzargan's ability on Bubbles, it just happens to be a really strong ability. The question we should be asking, why did Ubzargan choose Unfurl? not why did Ubzargan choose Unfurl instead of Bubbles.
I think Ubzargan could have chosen Unfurl because Bubbles was a teammate. Plain and simple.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 5)

Alright. Whew. I'm all caught up after going through almost 20 pages of content over the course of last night and this morning. I still need time to absorb everything, but I'll post some bullet points of where I am right now.

- I don't really get how unfurl ended up dying. A lynch switch of some kind? Although I was thinking the same thing with TinyBubbles, but somehow I doubt that both of the last 2 lynches were influenced by lynch switches.

- Sorry to see you go out the way you did, MP. But yeah, I think your PhD program is really stressing you out and is seeping into your game here. So I'm glad for your sake that you're taking a mafia break. Also, only one more month until I visit wooooooo! :omg:

- Don't really get the back-and-forth between Lorab and Rico yet. It read too much like two people sitting in the corner and constantly trying to one-up each other. But again, I also might need to digest a lot of that still.

- The last lynch REALLY makes me suspicious of TinyBubbles, especially with her reaction. Seemed super-OTT with trying to explain that she didn't know what happened. Which makes me think she DID know.

- Still don't get why the Sorsha suspicion just fell off the face of the Earth after the unfurl lynch. Seems awfully suspicious to me.

- I don't really get the JJJ suspicion. Although I think this is only my second game with him so I don't have much history to go off of. Still reading him as neutral or civ. I do agree that he's a player who could go from neutral/civ to bad pretty easily without making any transition in his gameplay style so far. So something to keep in mind.

- I'm putting my vote on Tinybubbles for now. Feels too much to me like she's trying to force the same playstyle she's used to, and for the other reasons I mentioned previously. Seriously, that reaction to the last lynch? Moved her WAY up on the baddie scale for me.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 5)

Alright. Got through the last lynch (RIP unfurl. Sorry I was wrong about my suspicions earlier! :( Not sure what happened there exactly either), and almost to the end of Night 4. I'm starting to get really tired, so I might hold off on the rest of my catchup until the morning.

The fact that only one person (Llama) commented on my post re: BWT makes me think I was on the right track there.

Don't really see the cases on either Sorsha or Bubbles.
I overlooked it. I'm not sure I follow; why should BWT omitting Azura's role in his comment imply he knew it was being used on someone not named MP? I am a little troubled by the highlighted bit though -- extreme vagueness.
birdwithteeth11 wrote:I don't see anything in the roles for this position about some kind of insanification, forced vote, or any type of posting-altering-related power. So not sure what is going on with MP. I'm starting to wonder if he's trying to prove a point about something.
I wasn't trying to omit Azura. That was an oversight on my part. Sorry if it came off as an omission, because that wasn't my intent.

My vagueness was because I was wondering, at the time, if MP thought the Golden lynch train was ridiculous to some extent, and therefore he decided to vote for Golden and act all zany because he wanted some of the Golden bandwagon voters to reconsider their votes.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 5)

Sorry for the lack of presence lately. Work has been crazy.

But I am here and will be for the rest of the day. I have.....only 17 pages to catch up on. :faint:

Going to start on it now.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 4)

I'm finally all caught up. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to make a lengthy post of any kind. I will say that I agree with a lot of the thoughts on Sorsha, as a potential player who could have tried to put some pressure on Golden while remaining out of the spotlight. So my vote will go to her today. I promise I will be more involved for the next day phase.

Votes Sorsha

Fair enough. I was mostly just fishing to see what responses I would get, so that works.

Anyone else feel uncomfortable with this sudden move to Boomslang? The timing of it seems odd. Especially with everything going on with Golden.

Linkis galore. But yes, I wouldn't mind hearing some more from Boomslang in the meantime.

I don't see anything in the roles for this position about some kind of insanification, forced vote, or any type of posting-altering-related power. So not sure what is going on with MP. I'm starting to wonder if he's trying to prove a point about something.
