If Moffat wasn't a cunt before, he is now.

I just watched it tonight, and honestly, I'm really hacked about it. I'll give it a bit longer to see if they reveal a good reason for Missy being who she is. But I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12

Also, thank you SO much to everyone who mentioned they really enjoyed the game and/or were having a lot of fun with it at some point! I think I remember at least 3/4 of everyone who played saying something either publicly or privately in PMs. And given this was a game I worked to develop off and on for almost a year, that really meant a lot to me!

I will say for the next cycle, I have two games I'm planning on hosting. One is a more standard type of game, and the other is very unorthodox. All I'll say about it right now is that you should think of somewhere in between a boo game and Recruitment Mafia. ;)

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12

Alright. Now that my internet is working again. I can go ahead and share these two fine dandies.

Image

The Master Cyberman: The ultimate life-form in Cyberman technology. Once every 2 nights, he can recruit another player to his Cyberman army. Once he does, they gain BTSC with him and their win conditions change to his (must be LMS or last team standing to win).

If he targets The Doctor, they must play a game of chess. The winner of the chess match determines if The Doctor is recruited or not. You are a LMS role.

Image

Weeping Angel
Must be LMS to win. Starting on Night 1, it may choose to target a player. If targeted, that role will slowly have it's time energy sucked from them. During this time, their vote will not count. If the Weeping Angel continues to target this player for 3 consecutive nights, then the target will die. The target is unaware of the Weeping Angel's actions. If the Weeping Angel targets The Doctor, the Angel will be forced to stare into the mirror for eternity. In other words, you die.

Obviously, these were the other two secret roles. In order for them to have been revealed in-game, you would have had to lynch them. Since Splints was NKed, however, her Weeping Angel role description did not appear. Whereas Metalmarsh's did because you lynched him.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12

Night 12: The End Game

Both Strax and the Cybermen had settled on a target. The same target in fact. Dom knew what was coming, and had prepared for the inevitable. Strax struck first, but Dom reacted quickly enough to hold off the blow. He was not as lucky with the Cybermen, however. They managed to knock him down, and then proceeded to beat the everliving stuffing out of him until he was nothing but a puddle of blood.

Excited at having finally finished off The Master, everyone began to rejoice. The end was near! Or so they thought.

And then Hedge cried out, "Well, now that our biggest threat is gone...kill the others!"

Snow Dog and Epig grabbed Chris and keys first, and squeezed and popped their heads off. Hedge began to roar and cackle with laughter.

One by one the remaining civvies fell. DFaraday, Long Con, and Ninja were all felled by Gotress, juliets, and Hedge respectively. Until SVS and MP were the only ones left.

That is, until MP grabbed SVS from behind, disasrmed her, and knocked her to the ground so forcefully that he broke one of her knees. SVS exclaimed, "B-b-but you're The Doctor! The one we put all our trust in!"

"Yes....", said both Hedgeowl and MP at the same time. "That trust was....severely misplaced. You see, I beat The Doctor at a game of chess. So I gained control of his body and mind. And he became my most loyal servant. The universe is better off without his Companions. In fact, it's better off without most life in general."

And with that, MP set his foot on SVS' head, lifted it, and brought it down so hard, her head popped like a melon.

Hedge began to laugh hysterically, but there was a certain evil quality to it. "Good news, boys and girls! THEY'RRRRRRRE HEEEEERRRRRRRRRE!!!"

She then set her eyes to the stars. For while Earth would fall quite easily to her now, there were plenty of other planets and galaxies to conquer. And she had the beginnings of an army that would see to her goals.

The game has ended. The Master Cyberman (Hedgeowl) and her team have won the game. Congrats to Hedgeowl, MovingPictures (The Doctor), juliets (Strax), Gotrees (Martha Jones), zeek (Wilfred Mott), Roxy (Dalek #2), Snow Dog (Cyberman Head), and Epignosis (Cyberman #1) for winning the game!

Bea is on her way home. So once she is, we'll start going through and breaking down everything that happened, as well as reveal all the hidden stuff. Although I will go ahead and reveal one hidden thing that I'm sure everyone was curious about.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12

I would like to apologize to all of you, my co-hostess included. I was at a concert with Spacedaisy and her sister last night, and I completely forgot to post something mentioning that. Yesterday was a VERY long and tiring day (I fell into bed right before 11:30 last night and am just now waking up at 9:40), and I am sorry I did not communicate that the post might be a bit late.

I would also like to make a special apology to my co-host. I know her schedule has gotten super-wonky and busy lately, and yet, I haven't been able to do the last few day/night posts. So bea, I'm really, really sorry that I've been slacking so much as a host. I've got tonight's night post covered though, so I'll be able to start getting back into the swing of things.

Tl;dr: I'm sorry for being such an unreliable doofus lately. :( Please carry on.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 10

Night 10: A tale of two women

Nights had become trying events since our band of merry lads and lassies had joined The Doctor in his TARDIS. It had felt like the gang had been traveling in vein forever from planet to planet with very little progress. The somber and sour mood was becoming infectious. Even The Doctor was starting to grow weary of having so many companions with him and so very few of them he could trust.

No one felt this sadness more than Elochin. At first the adventure and the alone time with her husband had been fun, but as more time progressed, she began to miss her children. She knew she'd left them in good hands, but as only a mother can, she worried for them. She missed their hugs, their smiles, the sound of their laughter. She even missed their squabbling. Day after day this sadness grew stronger. Elo sat apart from the crowd, lost in though over what they were doing, wondering if she'd ever see them again. She was so absorbed in the growing longing to see her babies again, she did not hear the dreaded cur-chunk, cur-chunk approach her. She did not hear them announce "You will be upgraded!" Because she didn't, answer them, they took her silence as rebellion and punished her the only way they knew how. Elo was deleted.

Strax was confused by gender. Being bred in a test tube, Sontarians had no gender. No mothers. No fathers. They were genitcally identical in build and in the truest desire of glory and honor for the Sontarian race. MetalMarsh confused him even more than normal humans. He pulled out his examining equipment. Somehow MM looked male, but his heart was female. Strax thought about MM further. MM was known to be Lucy Saxon. Lucy was not good. Lucy was recruited. Lucy wanted to cause harm to the people around him. Above all she was dishonorable. Strax could not let this last sin go. He came up to Metalmarsh and proclaimed. "You are not the fitting foe I deserve, but you are a foe. And I shall strike you down with honor and might so that you may in death understand what it means to be a warrior. May your death continue to keep this crew safe and provide more proof that I am a true Sontarian!"

Metalmarsh has been killed by Strax.

Elochin has been killed by The Cybermen.

It is now Day 11. You have 48 hours to shed some blood for your hosts to drink. For sustenance. :noble:

Alright. Here is your major, significant change. I'll update the lynch post later on, because I'm doing this while trying to watch football. But for now, I would like to apologize from both bea and myself. She told me that she goofed up the lynch last night and misinterpreted a description of a role. Which, in doing so, led her to declare a no lynch. When in reality, it should have read and is...

Bass has been lynched. He was The Cyber Controller.

So yeah, Bass should have died with his role revealed. I apologize for all the confusion I'm sure has been caused. We return you to your regularly scheduled mafia game of death. :feb:

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Day 9

Day 9: Down Goes.....Wait, What?

They had all gathered. They had all decided. Bass was clearly a Cyberman. As a baddie, and someone who had murdered their beloved hosts, he had to go. They gathered with a noose, and slowly started cornering Bass.

"B-b-b-but wait! I did nothing wrong! I'm innocent, I swear!"

He tried to shove his way out of the crowd, but it was too late. They threw him to the ground and proceeded to toss the noose over him and just pull as hard as they could. Until he turned blue in the face and was dead.

They were quite proud of their success. They rejoiced and cheered and celebrated another victory! All because of....

"Wait....you fools!" cried out The Doctor, "That's the wrong person in more than one way!" And with that, he began to slowly weep. Because he saw Turnip Head laying there. One of the sweetest, most caring mothers so cruelly taken from them.

Turnip Head has been lynched. He was Jackie Tyler.

It is now Night 9. You have 24 hours to do your thing.

The Doctor: The last surviving Time Lord in the universe. He travels through time and space in the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space), which is disguised as a police phone box. Usually he travels with a companion or companions. Comes off as mysterious and eccentric initially, but often shows that he is much more complicated than he appears. He cares deeply for his companions, and as such, every night he searches for one of them. Every time he finds one, he gains a permanent ability. If he manages to find at least 3 of them, he gains a special power. *Secrets* If he finds 1 companion, his vote is permanently doubled. If he finds 2 companions, any votes against him count as 1/2. If he finds 3 companions, he gains the ability to create a “day of sunshine” for all civvies. No civvies can be lynched the following day period, and any night abilities used by baddies or the indy will not affect civvies the following night period. Also, given he is a Time Lord, he can regenerate. If he is lynched, he will regenerate (come back to life) after the following night period ends.
In a classic case of a host screwing up...

I actually did the word 'lynched' wrong in the role secrets. It should be 'killed' in all honesty. I read MP's post as it saying 'killed', and went ahead and changed it to that.

I'm leaving the full disclosure on the main page though, because that was my own error in that case. I apologize for any inconvenience or issues this may have caused.

That may or may not change depending on how quickly I get tired. I'll try and get it tonight, but if I can't, it will have to wait until I get home from work tomorrow. Sorry to potentially keep all of you waiting on this! I might move the ending times ahead by a few hours for this week too, since earlier times work much better for me right now. I'm going to try and do this without referring to any one person specifically. Because I'm genuinely hacked now.

The main point of this game is to have FUN! I'm starting to see more asshattery (even after bea stepped in and said something). The name-calling and trash-talking stops NOW. The next person I see say anything negative about a person or launch a personal attack instead of playing the game is getting modkilled. If you are frustrated, you have two options:

1) Walk away and calm down.

2) You have people you may reach out to and PM. You have myself, bea, and llama who is modding this game. We have tough skin and if you're frustrated about something, we're more than willing to listen to you vent.

I'm sorry I have to make an announcement like this, but as of now, we're turning over a new leaf and starting fresh. So please enjoy the game for what it is and make it nice for everyone else. Thank you.

But if he targets her for a nightkill, it will automatically be blocked.
What if MM never had BTSC with The Master?
His destiny was tied to The Master, until The Master was targeted at night. At that point, he would have continued to search for The Master, but if he happened to find the person with that role, then he would have become a vanilla civ.

Tl;dr: MM is an LMS role regardless of if he actually finds The Master or not.

The only way that changes is if the part you bolded occurs.

I misunderstood.

So, to clarify, we have to do something to reveal the secret roles?

What did we do to reveal Lucy? We lynched her. Is that the only way to reveal the secret roles?
Bingo. You lynch them, and they get revealed.

That might be the only way to reveal them. There may be other ways. But I won't say anymore on this matter.

I asked about the 2 remaining secret roles. I'll ask again.

- Is there any way for us to reveal the 2 secret roles?

- Are the secrets listed in the role descriptions the only secrets for a role? Are there secrets for any roles that aren't listed, even under the tildes?
1) You all managed to reveal 1 of them. So think on that one. ;)

2) Yes. The tildes list all the role secrets for each role. There are no hidden secrets.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Day 8

Alright. So my internet konked out for that last one. If you all want to play and finish another game, that's fine. Just let me know who ends up winning it. Otherwise, let me know who had the highest score or won if you did finish it. And then I can make sure I remember who that person is.

Also, congrats to Metalmarsh and Hedge for winning the first 2 games. Thanks again to everyone who played tonight! I'm going to bed now and will be back in the morning.

Btw, the password is case sensitive. You'll have to capitalize the 'Doctor' part of it.

Go ahead and join the thread. I'll start once we get about 5 or so people.

Also, until I announce the game ends, if you are a late comer, feel free to jump right in and join us!

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Day 8

Alright. I'm going to go ahead and start gathering people for the game. I decided to go with Cards Against Humanity online, since that would be non-game themed, so not as serious and hopefully really funny for all of us. The link is just below. The password you need to put in to join is: Doctorcapaldi

http://pyx-1.socialgamer.net/game.jsp#game=201

I am hoping to do at least 2 games, and possibly a third if we have enough people and the first 2 go quickly enough. So that means 2 or 3 people will receive prizes for this. Good luck!

Also, you have to beat me. Because I'll be playing too. :P

I'm about to eat dinner. I'll catch up and answer any questions after that. So stfu. :P

TH, it does not require any knowledge about Doctor Who to do well. Or even win for that matter. And yes, there will be a prize or prizes available to the winner/winners. The more people that play, the more likely that we give our more prizes.

Looks good to me! Updating it on the main page and then I'm going to bed.

And Clara's too. 'Influence' is the correct word there.

Re: The Ood role decode

Long Con wrote:Ok, here's what I have for The Ood.

If you are targeted by a baddie, there is a fifty percent chance of you entering a ----e---- [different? missing 'e'?] name and redirecting their night action back onto them. This does not include nightkills.

I think this is good for each Civvie to know because maybe someone has targeted someone else and seen it affect a different player... Then that Civvie could say "hey, I trust them, they're the Ood!"
The 'e' is in the correct place. There are no missing letters for that word.

Chris wrote:HOSTS: Is night going to end near midnight EST tonight? Please say no...
I'll be perfectly honest. Unless bea is able to do a night post tonight, then it isn't going up tonight. I have an evaluation/test with work tomorrow, and I'm spending tonight trying to study for that and finish everything I need to finish for tomorrow. So I know there is no way I'm going to be awake long enough to do a night post. Plus I have to allow myself 2 hours to drive to the store that is hosting it (because it's over 40 miles away and traffic in and around Cincinnati is gridlocked sometimes in the morning).

Tl;dr: No night post tonight unless bea is able to do it. Otherwise, it won't come until tomorrow evening I'm afraid.

Sorry to announce this, but our non-Who-themed contest that we had scheduled for tomorrow night is going to have to be postponed to Friday night. Everyone (deadies and non-players included) is still eligible to participate though. We will be starting around 7PM. And I will be posting a link to the game in this thread around that time. Thank you for your patience.

Sorry I am still recovering from your latest defense, "dont lynch me because i will die, but if i am the Master why bother?" :haha:

I just finished reading through some loooong posts, but to start its not that you survived an NK, its that you survived 2 NKs. Big difference. If you had just survived a strax kill no biggie, you'd probably be civ, but the cybers tried to kill you on the same night? They have a live role checker on their team and if they learned you were the master, they would know just leading your lynch wouldnt be enough. I dont think the argument you are the Cyber controller works, because um, why would you target yourself, but the Master is a real possibility. I am willing to consider civ options, but its a really hard position to defend from i know.
In response to the bolded, it would not be unheard of for a team to "target" a member of their team, knowing full well that that person will survive, so I wouldn't write off Chris as a Cyberman just yet.

Speaking of, I want to point out that Sarah Jane's role says she can survive "alien" attacks. The Cybermen are not aliens, so I wonder whether Sarah can survive being targeted by them. If not, that just makes Chris look even shadier.
For the purposes of this game, Cybermen are aliens.
