Yeah, Dumplings was the first segment, I can still hear the crunching in my mind. I think my favorite segment was Box.Mongoose wrote:Wow, that was a good one indeed! There's one segment called Dumplings right?A Person wrote:As far as horror goes I am somewhat picky. Watching Three Extremes a while back made me really want to check out more asian horror films, but I'm not sure where to start.
Here are some Asian horror ideas, Matt -- some of these have the same titles as their American counterparts, obviously you want the foreign version
* Red Shoes (the horror obv, not the Norma ballet version -- although you MUST SEE this too)
* Ringu
* Ju-On
* The Host
* Thirst (2009)
* Tale of Two Sisters
* Cold Fish
* Audition
* Shutter
* Pulse
* Dark Water
* Exte: Hair Extensions. It's about killer hair extensions.
* House (the one with the orange cat on the cover, not the 80s cheese)
* Cure
Kinda horror? Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Suicide Club, Battle Royale
Out of those I've seen the Park Chan-wook movies (he's the reason why I watched Three Extremes), Ringu, and Battle Royale. I also plan on watching Takashi Miike eventually. Of the rest, I recognize a fair amount of those titles, many because Alan (borokkuei) has mentioned them.
As far as Ringu vs. the remake goes, they are both good films and I like both, but the original seemed to be more about the atmosphere than jump scares, which definitely suites my tastes more.
