Congrats winners! I've been at least suspicious of all of you for most of the game, but I was also dead most of the game. I loved the theme, Alison! Your host posts were so fun. I wish I could have at least been around to participate in a single event, though.

quit killing me you guys, I'm a civ :( Apparently, I didn't vote even though I thought I did.

Also, I typed this this morning and completely forgot, but luckily I didn't close the tab:
My personal favorite director of music videos is Chris Cunningham. The music video for Bjork's All Is Full of Love is practically pornographic. Also, Rubber Johnny is my favorite music video probably. The music video he did for Squarepusher's Come On My Selector is fun too. And of course so are Aphex Twin's Come to Daddy and Windowlicker videos. I wish I could see Flex in its full form.

Hi. I don't think I am trying to fly under the radar, I've just not been posting. If you want my thoughts on the game, I think I'll vote Long Con today. Normally I'm too scared to take risks because I so often end up killing civs, but we're in peril of losing so there is not much to lose at this point. LC was the one to start the recent crusade against low posters, and I think it's because we're easy targets at this point. If they kill off a couple low posting civs, they win.

I'm not sure for how long it lasts, I was under the impression it lasts until the day is over? The role desccription doesn't say. If so that would be why it wasn't unlocked maybe.
Hard to tell from the previous one, either, since that was both closer to the poll's end and possibly tampered by the mod-players here, with Spacedaisy opening it on the last minutes.

Re: [Day 5]: Film Directors.

Mongoose wrote:*Required Watching: Un Chien Andalou

Perhaps the most known collab between Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali.

I was asked about my opinion on this so here it is:
well, the film is obviously surreal and doesn't have a "plot" but what it did have is a lot of great imagery. The most striking to me was the shot of the ants in the guy's (i am not sure how to refer to either of the male characters) hand. Another one was the scene where the guy was chasing the girl and dragging all the stuff behind him. The film doesn't seem to be "about" anything but I think a lot of it is at least meant to evoke ideas about subconscious desires. The groping scene and the shooting scene stand out in particular as examples of that. There was also what seemed like symbolism in the use of the striped box, but I honestly have no idea what. I thought it was interesting how at the end they find the smashed box and the other man's discarded clothes (another example of the subconscious thing?). The arrangement of the soundtrack was interesting too. The middle was dramatic and serious sounding, but it was bookended by lively dancable bits. It makes it feel as if it were some sort of dream sequence. Also I noticed lots of different kinds of cuts. The bicycle part in the beginning had a couple different kinds of takes being used in quick succession (that hurt my brain) and there was that sequence of match cuts between the shot of the ants in the hand to the arm pit hair to the...sea urchin? that I thought worked really well visually. Not to mention the cloud crossing the moon interspersed with the eye cutting. I'd not seen that before (just a gif of the eye cutting). Now that I've read a bit about the film that was apparently observation that inspired the film. Personally, I liked the film because it was surreal while allowing me to interpret it in a personal way without feeling forced. Normally I am not a big fan of that sort of thing but this was particularly well done. It sort of reminded me of some of vomp's writing, like Ellen's Oiled Vagina. Seemingly random on the surface, but with an undercurrent of normal (possibly repressed) human feelings.
