Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 6]

And I'm gonna give another vote to CapsFan, hopefully third time's the charm.

DDL has certainly been aggrandizing, but at least he's posting. At this point, that's more civ like behavior than most people.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 6]

What with the Chatty Kathy massacre and all, I've decided to start poking around at some of our more silent players, starting with BWT. The biggest thing of note he's done is to come out with a soft defense of MP on Day 1.

This is his latest post:
birdwithteeth11 wrote:Alright. So I have still not caught up any more, and I am now about 15 pages behind. So I have 1 of 2 options:

1) Give up and ask to be replaced because I do not have the free time right now to read through the amount of posts I need to get through to catch up.

2) Start from scratch right now and build on from there.

And I'm going to try option #2. Soooooo....anyone got some Cliff Notes for what's happened so far?
That was 11 days ago.

My vote for him is as much a random shot in the dark as it is a call for him to get off his posterior.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]

Voting CapsFan and DragonDLuffy

CapsFan's been someone who's weirded me out for a while, and I've voted for him the last two days. Let's make that three.

DDL is someone who just shot their way onto my radar with the last three pages of posts. I feel like him and Scotty are pushing this lightly-inactive tunnel vision mindset, and it just seems like saying shit to say shit, the equivalent of picking on someone you know won't fight back.

Scotty has a history of stuff like this, and I haven't necessarily picked up any bad vibes from him.

DDL, however, what with his apparently trademark standoffish attitude, admitted tunnel vision, and him immediately voting for Boomslang after he posted something against him almost gave me whiplash.

So I'm gonna throw a vote his way.

Why is it bad that I suspect Mac for meta and activity. What is it bad that I'm tunneling on him and you? Why is it bad that I made the same vote as Mac back on day 1?

You can't just list everything I have done in the game, yell "BAD!" and expect to be taken seriously. You need to do more.
As someone on the receiving end of metareads and been screwed over many a time from them, you throwing your hands up and saying "I PLAY ENTIRELY ON META READS AND TUNNEL VISION, DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?" is the equivalent of attempting to order a massive steak at a vegetarian restaurant.

This easy-ass style of playing, just pointing at one or two inactive players and leading a blitzkrieg against them, is the perfect way to coast by and stand out juuust enough to where you don't seem too blend-y.

So I'm gonna give him a pass for now until I can do some good old fashioned Baltimore style good po-lice work.

Yesterday I voted for CapsFan and Sorsha. Neither of them have done anything to dissuade my opinion on them, and neither has a more compelling candidate come up. I'm gonna try and make this a Groundhog Day by voting the same way again.
So you gonna vote or what?

Gotta be honest, mate. My 2nd vote is between you and Quin. And I mostly want to vote Quin because he seems far too 'appeasy" this game. I can't put into words my tone read of him besides I don't like it. If I can keep digging and come up with something a little more potent on him before EoD, I'll vote there, otherwise you're my standby.

You say you never use inactivity as a crutch in strategies in your game, which may or may not be true. But when you are around, I'm not getting any sense of urgency or care. It could be a bias since you were vaulted into a place of importance (prefect) early on. You had so much potential, like 'Suicide Squad' and 'No Man's Sky' did.
I feel like your posts on me are less a suspicion, and more you poking me with a stick to see if I'm still alive. Luckily, I am in fact still on this here mortal coil, and am making a firm resolution, right here, right now, in the eyes of gods and men, that I'm going to try and be more active than I've been in the past.

Because of this, he demanded that all in his house speak his name whenever anyone was in the same room as he was. One day, a servant insisted on using his courtesy name instead. Insert Namhere ordered the servant taken outside, where he was whipped until he had said his master’s name twenty-five times. Because of the prodigious fear in the land over Insert Namhere’s accumulated power, he was made a prefect so that he would be appeased.

I had a similar role in the 2013 Champions game, and made up a ridiculous story about having coded a program that would read everyone's posts and calculate their chances of being bad by cross-referencing their word choice with their past games.

Of course, me knowing next to nothing about coding, programming, or computer systems made this a little difficult. But it got people talking about me.

I got through about 3 or 4 lynches despite being the top suspect because people just wouldn't shut up about me, and wanting to prove my cockamamie story wrong.

I once invented a role (for a "Build Your Own" game in which players designed their own roles) that gained different powers based on how many times my name was said in the thread, and it's been reused/adapted a couple times -- not sure if there's precedent for a version based on number of times quoted, but it's possible. I kind of doubt that's what this sock is though, sort of an odd thing for TH to think of.

I don't think simply trying to gain powers is in and of itself, suspicious.

I'm not sure if you think me being inactive was purposeful strategy or what. Frankly, I'd never be intentionally inactive in any game. I just don't see the point of that.

Also, you make a pretty big assumption that whatever magical super secret powerful gifts were bestowed upon me would provide me with info to help the civ cause. Unfortunately, they didn't. I've lost my paddle, and the water around me has a strange brown consistency.

I think what's actually most striking here is this "Why didn't everyone vote for themselves"?
Because some Prefect candidates are decent, hardworking people who aren't egotistically giving themselves an extra boost by voting for themselves. Some honorable, principled Prefect candidates want to win simply on their own merits! Crooked 3J over there already revealed his priorities with his vote: ME, ME, ME. Whereas some extremely intelligent and attractive candidates have been voted for BY THE PEOPLE and will work tirelessly FOR THE PEOPLE.
Au contraire por favor.

I think a self vote is admirable because a) it adheres to the rules and b) it shows confidence in yourself. Your votes for other people tells me you would far rather other people have this position over you.

I think I am a good candidate and voted myself as such. It seems other people agreed with me. ;)
Maybe it just means that I care about people OTHER than myself, and am willing to REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH.
