I’m trying this thing where I wear blue-blocker glasses 2 hours before bed. Supposedly helps with light exposure and makes it easier to fall asleep. Except for the fact that I look like Cyclops from X-men, I’d highly recommend
lol! @bea I was thinking last night how I would explain to anyone here how and why we had a mafia site named hedville!

Scotty, I'm so sorry you weren't with us at Lostpedia/hedville. Soooo many shenanigans, you would have had so much fodder for your humorous quips.

So the blue light glasses, let me know how they work. I have flux on my computer that nutella shamed me into loading years ago, but lately I end up disabling it to make my screen brighter. I got new glasses last week and they were looking at my last order and confirmed that I wanted the blue light blocker again - I was shaking my head yes and suddenly realized I don't wear glasses when I'm on the computer so no!! no I don't want to pay extra for that lol!

Yes that was clearly stupid. But I worry that the punishment would be something more than just failing the module. Save all your work DDL and if you find out they purchased their parts I would think hard about ratting them out. I know you don't like the conflict but you have to look out for yourself.

Re: Random~

Epignosis wrote: Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:00 pm So about the trip:

Our visit to NJ and Manhattan was far more educational than I expected. I learned a college class worth of history, architecture, and presidential mysteries. Our second tour guide was part stand-up comic, part history professor (I did exchange the favor by giving him an art lesson on a structure that had always perplexed him), but he was top-notch.

Small sample size, sure, but avoid the fancy expensive restaurants there. They aren't very good, the service sucks, and the experience is costly. Instead, opt for the cheap hole-in-the-wall places. Dear God, these are people who have mastered their crafts! In a fancy place, I got soggy fried chicken smothered with a heavy handed sauce and linguine (really?). In the shit hole pizza place, I had two slices ($2.50 a slice!) of the best thin-crust pizza I think I've ever had, made by a guy who barely spoke English, but knew the language of deliciousness.

Speaking of languages, I heard more foreign languages than English. You can people watch all you want. Forget understanding a word they're saying.

The smells of the city are just as diverse. One moment you smell glorious cuisines; the next, it's something that's already been digested. The wind blows a lot.

We didn't get to make it to Central Park because of a fucking Labor Day parade (a week after Labor Day), but a student informed me today that Central Park isn't anything to write home about, so I'll take her word for it and feel okay that we missed out on it.

Times Square is a great place to go to buy things and get trampled.

Speaking of Times Square, the New Years ball doesn't actually drop to the bottom of the pole. It stops sooner because Toshiba wanted more ad space. I saw the ball and it wasn't even close to the bottom of the pole. More lies our media feeds to us. Also, Walgreens is the only tenant in that particular building.

The welcome party was lovely. The first person I met was from Orlando (my wife's home town), and the second person I met was from my home town, so that was weird. The food was good and there was an open bar, so I had a good time.

The least favorite part of my trip, I am sorry to say, was the football watch party the next day. The food was great, and the open bar was in constant demand by yours truly (staffed by the greatest bar staff I have ever witnessed- 45 seconds tops to be served), but the place was miserably crowded and loud. We were at a table full of insufferable Browns fans (made all the more insufferable by overtime...which ended in a tie :disappoint: ). We met Brandon Jacobs and Tiki Barber and got autographs and pictures. The Carolina game was boring. Three of my players got injured, so I didn't win any money. I met a guy from Toronto who was in charge of placing signs for the event and he informed me that he hates "fucking Rush." So I met the the Canadian version of The Dude.

Despite the parking garage being across the street from the hotel (it cost $102 to park for the weekend, by the way), it took me ten minutes to get from the garage to the hotel.

You could not pay me to live there.

But you could pay me to visit.
I'm really glad you got to see a smattering of the city, and I heard from Elo you went to the observation deck at the new World Trade Center (whatever it is called). And I agree with your student - the most remarkable feature of Central Park is it is so big in a city of tall buildings. You didn't miss a thing. I hope you are able to go back sooner rather than later. Try Christmas time when all the store windows and the city is decorated and the winter wind whistles down those "building alleys". Such a beautiful time.

This is exciting, do you care to share more details?
It's something we talked about five years ago. Something BR has wanted to do, but when we looked into it five years ago, there were financial barriers. Hell, there might still be, we haven't secured a loan yet, but we're in a better place now financially.

It's actually really sudden. A place opened up in town that has pretty affordable rent, and a great kitchen, and the sisters are driving forward to go with it. Much of the research (and a solid business plan) was already put together five years ago, so that's nice... and he has been Kitchen Manager at a local restaurant for a the last year or two, and has gained a lot of experience in how to run a restaurant.

Honestly, I'm just going along for the ride. We have had big plans before that have broken down for whatever reason, but I'm always going to support her dreams, and it's a dream of hers to own a restaurant. I feel like a leaf in a strong wind.
This is very exciting - tell BR congrats for me and of course same to you. What kind of food will you serve? And I guess this means you will give up the Sandwich wagon?

Find yourself a giant slab of granite or shale to use as decor so people think that’s where the name comes from.

It's pretty pointless to post content of one's own without having a considerable enough number of followers that anyone will stand a chance of seeing it.
I agree JJJ. I follow a lot of entities like the NYT, the Atlantic, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, several news stations and then I follow a ton of sports sites such as my team's sites and Sports Illustrated and Bleacher Report. Oh, be careful S~V~S and anyone else in the wake of that storm. My parents had the southern end of it down in Alabama.

Hooray!

So let me see if I understand this. She went to school all day and was not asked to go home and change so I guess it was ok to come to school in that shirt. Then when it was time to go home she was pulled off the bus? Is that how it went? If so, that is screwed up. The shirt wasn't even that bad considering off the shoulder and cold shoulder attire is all the rage now. (Maybe it's not allowed at school which is fine but back to my first point.). Straighten me out Epi if this isn't how it went.

Re: Random~

So DH, at 3:14 pm Golden said things were starting "in about 2 hours". We haven't even reached that point yet.

Hopefully will make quick progress now.
So happy to see that you're doing better JC.
