aapje wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:38 pm Such awful news. I was clearing out old emails today and my eye fell on an unread notification of a pm about this thread. I guess it is fitting that today would have been their birthday.
I haven't visited these forums in about 5 years but I still remember TH fondly.
We had great fun in Buffy, one of my first games on the piano way back where we had BTSC. I also remember hosting a game with them.
I will remember his great sense of humor and his writing ability.
aapje so nice of you to stop in and remember TH. He was one of the originals from back in the day. We miss him so much.

I hope life is treating you well, I have thought about you often through the years. So much fun so long ago. You probably won't come back and get this message but wanted to respond to you just in case.

Re: Our Syndicate family has lost a dear friend.

Turnip Head would be overwhelmed by how many people from our long ago past, present, and right now have come out to pay tribute to them. As everyone has already said, they were a very special person full of wonderful music, love for their friends, the ability to make us laugh and expert mafia playing. Charmed me more than once to jump in their pocket! They will be missed terribly.

One of Turnip's loves was our Walrus game where everyone submits music to share. When Dobby and I ran our small-russ we had a category "Something very meaningful to you" and asked people to tell us why it was meaningful. Turnip submitted the song below and told us the reason it was meaningful was self explanatory. Read the words, listen to the song (Dobby thanks for posting this on discord) and you will know TH better:
Spoiler: show
Stupid Deep by Jon Bellion

Lyrics:
What if who I hoped to be was always me?
And the love I fought to feel was always free?
What if all the things I've done, yeah
Were just attempts at earning love? Yeah
'Cause the hole inside my heart is stupid deep
Stupid deep
What if where I've tried to go was always here?
And the path I've tried to cut was always clear?
Why has life become a plan, yeah
To put some money in my hand?
When the love I really need is stupid cheap
Stupid cheap
What if who I hoped to be was always me?
And the love I fought to feel was always free?
What if all the things I've done
Were just attempts at earning love? Yeah
'Cause the hole inside my heart is stupid deep
Oh, stupid deep
What if who I hoped to be was always me?
And the love I fought to feel was always free?
What if all the things I've done (What if all the things I've done)
Were just attempts at earning love?
Though the hole inside my heart is stupid deep,
Oh, stupid deep
Deep

Finally, and this is for all of you who first met TH long ago when we were on the Lost website playing mafia (they loved Lost), one of their friends in rl left a message on the Memory page on Turnips obit which ended like this, and it's how I choose to close today:
"See you in another life, brother. It really wasn't Penny's boat."
