But the fact that you've been so quiet makes me think you're thinking, "out of sight, out of mind." But with so few people left, no one can sty hidden. And you have been removed from the poll, so there's that. We'll see what happens, I guess.

So, lots of linki...I must have forgotten to refresh before typing my post.

Boom, I know DF has been very quiet. And he would be someone I would have voted for as well, but he hasn't been removed from the poll, right? I would think that if he were bad, he would have been removed at some point. Don'tcha think?
Maybe? Idk, that point gets pretty WIFOM-like to me. I'd like to think the baddies wouldn't be that transparent, though. Maybe keeping one member from being removed just to have that plausible deniability in late game? But I don't have any hard evidence to support an argument either way :/

Re: Angry Birds [Day 5]

I don't know why you were getting on Blooper for being quiet, Elo, when there's someone with even less participation: DFaraday. I'm particularly pinged by the free pass he seems to have given Lorab after saying he'd do a read. He's also been continuing to vote Elo without developing more of a case or considering others. Finally, there's the three pigs vs. four pigs thing, which could have been a little slip of not counting himself amongst the baddies... Don't have too much longer to vote, but I think he's worth considering.

Re: Angry Birds [Day 5]

Don't worry about me buying the Golden Egg, Russ; the more I look at it, the less I'm convinced. Llama first has this to say about Made:
thellama73 wrote: Made probably is the yellow bird, though. I won't vote for him tommarghy.
Lorab is the first one to suggest the role of the egg:
LoRab wrote: His surviving gives me pause. However, I'm not entirely convinced. He was on the site last night, and I can't see a reason that someone would be on here and not post, when they saw their name was being mentioned. Especially a civ. Even if they knew they would survive, someone who has a lot of suspicion is likely to at least post some sort of defense/alternative. A baddie might just leave it to their teammates to do for them. If not the civ role, then perhaps he had a golden egg?
Then, llama chimes in a couple of hours later:
thellama73 wrote:Question: is it possible the baddies got ahold of the egg and have been passing it around amongst themselves? We might find a clue by who was removed from previous polls, since Blooper is definitely bad.
I feel like this is an honest inquiry, and llama avoids mentioning Made in subsequent posts:
thellama73 wrote: Yup, it's lipsticklacey, boomslang, blooper, and one more. Not sure who yet. Guaranteed that those three are bad though.
It's LoRab who takes this theory and runs with it to justify a previous suspicion of Made, despite it being pretty strongly counterindicated by the lynch result:
LoRab wrote: I agree with this, about the egg, which is why I'm not fully confident about Made's role. I 'm not advocating to lynch him today, but I also don't trust him.
I have a particularly bad feeling about this. Lorab is using a theory beyond its original context while leaving enough wiggle room to go either way on Made, depending on what support emerges.

In summary, I think Lorab is being opportunistic and reaching to justify an attack on someone who's very likely civ. *votes Lorab*
(How's that for a fully fleshed case, Llama?)

What makes you say this? Besides Blooper today, everyone who's been of the poll could've been put there by the baddie or civvie remover.
Because my theory is that the baddies have obtained the egg we passed around at the beginning and are distributing it amongst themselves. I will say that Blooper is the one I most suspect though, based on her posting content. She's very under the radar this game, which experience teaches me means a bad Blooper.
I agree with this, about the egg, which is why I'm not fully confident about Made's role. I 'm not advocating to lynch him today, but I also don't trust him.

I want to hear why Lacey had been planning on voting FZ (she posted before the last lynch end that who she planned to vote for was off the poll--and she was the other person off the poll). I am fairly confident at this point that she's bad.

And I kind of keep forgetting that Blooper is playing, so I agree under the radar.

I don't know boomslang at all, so don't really have a read there.
I'm also not sure about Blooper. Her vote justifications are generally based on drive-bys, although in the latest case, she voted Made because she thought we'd "get information." That justification always seems a little mercenary to me, but eh, whatever. Interestingly, it would be a brilliant play to say that lynching Made would give us intel if the two of them were on the baddie team and Made had the golden egg. Simplicity would lead us to think that the information we got was Made = Chuck, clearing his name for the rest of the game.

I've been considering the Tinybubbles case, which is hard because there just isn't much to go on... I find myself agreeing with Russ that the drivebys themselves aren't enough to indicate alignment. They're screwy, but I want to wait for something else before aiding that lynch. Considering my other options now.

RIP, boo. So it goes :/. But this thread has been really quiet tonight... too quiet. Time to start some things :P

Blooper, has the death of boo helped you reconcile your number of mafia suspects with the number of actual mafia?
Russ, you didn't post at all Day 2. What are your thoughts?
Elo, you mentioned wanting to look at quiet players today; who's highest on the list?

I hardly call it "hyper concerned." Just paranoid of almost everyone
I'm not referring to the fact that you had many mafia reads; rather, that you twice expressed concern over your number of mafia reads.

Why were you concerned about having too many mafia reads?
I just want to point out that this game of yours forces the players to resolve their indecisions into a binary system: civ or mafia. You're creating a tension between the knowledge that there are only so many mafia and the fact that, at this point in the game, people have more suspects than that number. I think it's natural to feel uneasy when listing out your suspicions reveals you're still a way off from narrowing the field.

On further review, I think I find llama most suspicious. He was among the Scotty voters without much justification, and he seems to have deliberately misread the role blocking of last night to justify a vote for tinybubbles. I don't know what to make of Daisy's vote yet, and the possibility that MP is the bomb makes me pause before voting for him again. So I'll go ahead and *vote llama*

Also, I don't think it's obvious that it was the eagle. There are enough factors that it could have been any number of things that caused there to be no kill and no one off the poll.
I've gotta agree with boo's analysis here; the Eagle seems to be the most likely option.

Sockface's continued self-voting is just completely out of character. But at least it's a pattern. Daisy's unexplained vote for Made is just weird. Finally, llama's seeming failure to recognize the global roleblock last night is unlike him and was used to justify a tinybubbles vote. So much weirdness in this game.

Re: Angry Birds [Day 2]

DFaraday wrote:Today I'm primarily looking at the posters who bandwagoned Scotty. Elo and Daisy's votes stood out the most to me as not being grounded in much, and coming after the votes started rolling in.
I agree that these two are really good places to start. Daisy's vote on Scotty felt particularly inauthentic. She singled out Scotty's suggestion of Lacey when he had also suggested Lorab and MM, while also phrasing his actions in what I felt was stronger language than merited: "the way he went for Lacey and then immediately backed off when he caught flack for it." Elo also confuses me a bit; she voted Scotty explicitly to tie the vote, but did so very early (vote 6), when there were still plenty of votes to happen.

Now that I think about it—DFaraday, you're claiming Elo voted "after the votes started rolling in." She was the second Scotty voter and the sixth overall. I don't think that quite qualifies as "bandwagoning." I agree it wasn't the most well-grounded of votes, but I'm interested in the way you lumped the timing of her vote together with Daisy's (who voted 17th).

Self-assessment question for Boomslang: Do you think you've managed your plan to be pretty active in this game so far?

If you do, can you discuss your vote for MP a bit more? It seems like a rushed/ill-considered vote to me.
I won't lie: I haven't been quite as active yet as I'd hoped to be. Recruitment is legitimately bonkers and is absorbing a lot of my mafia time. I also joined my first-ever game of Diplomacy on another site, and that's proving to be a time sink as well.

That being said, I still feel justified in my MP vote. He hasn't really staked out any positions, flying under the radar, and then pulls a self-vote. I understand that this decision came from being RL busy, but he's under the same time crunch in Recruitment, and there he voted for someone else. Why did he make a different decision when under the same pressures in both games?

Re: Angry Birds [Day 1]

boo wrote:Well yes, that was what I was talking about. Except it's not an 'if' since Epi already said king pig will be able to use Jim's power, so it becomes a question of what using that power entails if he does find one of the 2 blues (the 17% chance being a reference to the odds that they manage that, since there's 16 people alive, 4 of them are baddies with BTSC, so 12 people, 2 blues, so 1 in 6).

With those odds, I think if we don't know what happens if the king pig finds a blue, or if we do find out it's a recruitment, then those scenarios should be shut down by the Mighty Eagle. Especially since, if it is a recruitment, then that actually means if they manage to find a blue, they'll be able to from 4 members, to 5, but then also 6 if either blue then ever found the other after that (presumably, I'm not sure how else that would be made to work).

If we do get a more upfront answer, and it's just sock-BTSC or normal BTSC, then in either of those cases it should have a non-effect or positive effect for the civvies (if it's sock, I'd argue the blue just shouldn't use it all, since it would be easier for 4 people to figure out who 1 person is than 1 person to figure out who the other 1 person is). If it were normal, king pig would know who the blue is, and they'd NK them asap (or just try and spin it in thread as they're the blue and the other person is the baddie, so that they can burn a lynch), but we'd still end up with a confirmed baddie we'd be able to lynch (which would also deprive the baddies of using other civ abilities down the line when civs are lynched).
Do you really want to blow the most powerful shutdown power we have on a power that has a 17% chance of success, especially this early in the game?

Catching up myself after a long day (of working/going to the video game bar, lol). Of all the discussion, this was what pinged me the most. It seems really WIFOM-y, the idea that she can't be bad due to inactivity; it's just as likely she was coached to stay blendy, as a new player coming out swinging could be seen as a threat.
