Re: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder - Day 8

Day 8 - Curtain Call

"Welcome, my few remaining family members," Scotty said to Dom, Splints, and Sorsha. "Please, step inside and take your minds off the drudgery that has befallen our dear relatives."

He showed them inside his church and proceeded to give them the best tour of his life. He was determined to keep them occupied and away from thoughts of murder. Unfortunately, murder was still on some minds.

As the group made their way to the roof, Scotty began to climb the spire for some reason.

"As you can see, this architecture dates from the Baroque period, and is most sturdy. Look how it supports my weight!" he declared.

Just then, Dom and Phoebe ran forward and began throwing vegetables at Scotty.

"Wha-who-why are-AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!" Scotty finally slipped and plummeted to his death.

"I know we've had our differences, but now that dear Monty is gone, we have to stick together to honor his work," said Dom.

"Agreed," agreed Splints agreeably. "The D'Ysquiths are no more!"

"Except for me," said Sorsha.

"But you're invincible, so we're not even bothering at this point. Also, I'm a D'Ysquith too," pointed out Dom.

"Then you will be the heiress and I'll share in the wealth with you!" exclaimed Splints. "We'll pin it on Sorsha and let the fortune fall to you!"

The villainesses celebrated their dastardly deeds. Truly, crime paid off.
Scotty has been lynched. He was Reverend Ezekial D'Ysquith. Dom, Splints, MM, and Golden have won the game!

Night 7 - Alpaca Your Bags (That was a horrible pun)

"Scandal! Fire! Murder! Liar!" exclaimed the portraits on the wall, alarmed at all the mayhem of recent weeks. "Evil! Malice! Horrid! Callous!"

"Oh, do shut up for once," said Llama wearily, walking the hall in the dead of night. "I've much on my mind if we're to find this killer in the morning. How did the death of Monty Navarro not stem this accursed tide of villainy?"

"My dear Llama, what you didn't count on was the touch...of a woman," Sibella's voice came from around the corner.

"Eh? Who's there?" said Llama, moving closer for some reason.

"A nightmare in pink," she said menacingly (or as menacingly as she could pull off). With that, Sibella pushed the suit of armor which nobody had yet claimed forward, and it crashed down around Llama. When he stood up, his head was trapped inside the helmet, which was stuck backwards on his head.

"I can't see!" he declared. Llama stumbled forward blindly, but Sibella grabbed him and waltzed her way over to a nearby furnace, which was mostly there so I could fit in a Sweeney Todd reference as she threw Llama into the furnace and sealed him in. She danced gracefully away as Llama's helmet became red hot, his mustache burning up with every second.

Llama has been killed. It is now Day 8. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

Day 7 - The Seventh Day

"I propose a game of billiards to solve this enigma," suggested Llama. After everything that's happened, billiards sounded wonderfully soothing. The crowd gathered and began a tournament, with the winner getting to use the ceremonial armour in the hall for defense against Sibella.

"So...one of us in this room is the killer..." said Scotty casually.

"I think it was Roxy!" exclaimed Sorsha.

"Yes, Roxy! Roxy, yeah! Roxy, indubitably!" agreed the crowd.

"You're making a terrible mistake," Roxy said. "It's not me, and you won't stand a chance without me!"

"Tell it to the judge," Llama said. The crowd grabbed a pool cue and charged Roxy, impaling her on it.

"Hey, she looks kind of familiar, huh?" said Dom.

"She's the D'Ysquith we abandoned years ago!" declared Splints.

"Oh well," said Sorsha sadly.

Re: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder - Day 6

Night 6 - In Which Several Interesting Events Occur

Elohcin was resting easy by the fire in her bedroom. Now that Monty had been defeated, the family could finally stop worrying about killers on the loose. Unfortunately, she didn't take into account the killers on the loose.

Sibella Holland crept quietly into Elohcin's quarters and pulled the pink ribbon from her hair. "This is for dear Monty!" she shrieked, pulling the ribbon tight around Elohcin and choking the life out of her. Sibella's love would be avenged!

*************************************************************************

Chauncey was on the warpath, blindly charging about Highhurst to find the villains. He burst into the kitchen, where Scotty and Sorsha were having tea and crumpets (in the middle of the night for some reason). Chauncey picked up a meat cleaver and hurled it at Scotty, who deflected it with a convenient butcher knife. It went sailing into Sorsha's chest and she hit the floor. Luckily for her, she was wearing a very thick wool coat which softened the blow. It was a really thick coat. Scotty and Sorsha fled before Chauncey had a chance to finish them off.

Day 6 - Poor Monty

The family converged on the roof, facing down MM angrily. He backed away to the precipice, but they continued to advance on him.

"You don't know what you're doing!" MM implored. "I'm not the killer!"

"Oh yeah? I know you tried to kill me twice!" declared Sorsha.

"And I never liked you to begin with!" said Llama.

"Fine, it was me. And I have no doubt the rest of you will fall after my demise. One way or another, the D'Ysquith fami-"

They pushed him mid-rant, and MM fell into a thicket far below. As he extricated himself, the mob pushed a gargoyle off the roof and crushed him. Monty Navarro had been thwarted at last.

MM has been lynched. He was Monty Navarro. It is now Night 6. You have 24 hours to send your PMs in, although I'm going to see the Hobbit tomorrow, so I'm not making any promises about the time the night phase ends.

Night 5 - The Last One You'd Expect

"You shall not escape me again!" declared Monty as he chased down Sorsha in a very early model car. He had followed her out of the pub and was now pursuing her down every twist and turn. Soon Sorsha managed to run out of town and into the wild woods standing between town and Highhurst Castle. Sorsha tripped over a root, because that's mandatory for chase scenes, but luckily for her the car was incredibly slow and she got up in time. Tired out from running, Sorsha slowed to a jog, then a trot, then a casual stroll back to the castle, with Monty in hot pursuit. Sorsha opened the massive castle doors and shut them just in time, causing Monty to very slowly crash into the door.

*******************************************************************************
Later that night, the rest of the group returned to the castle feeling merrier and unafraid.

"I'm sure glad we all made it back in one piece," said Splints triumphantly.

"Indeed!" agreed Scotty. "No death from Mr. Navarro tonight!"

"Hey, where's Golden?" Roxy asked.

In fact, Golden's body was in a pit back in the woods. Chauncey D'Ysquith was not happy about recent events, and he was going to do something about it.

Golden has been killed by Chauncey D'Ysquith. It is now Day 6. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

Day 5 - A Gentleman's Guide to Beer and Singalongs

The mob realized that staying in the castle was just allowing Monty to pick them off one by one. What they needed was to get out into the open...a trip to the local pub was just what was needed. Everyone headed down to the tavern to discuss their next move.

"I think it was Golden!" declared Scotty. "Let's take him to the authorities while we're in town!"

"No, it was MM!" insisted Llama.

"Poppycock!" said MM. "Clearly it was you!"

Several people brought forth Eloh as a prime suspect, but MM was grabbed and within moments was surrounded by the mob.

"Hang on a minute, guys!" declared a random customer. "I don't know what your issue with this man is, but I'm sure it can be solved with a drinking song!"

The D'Ysquiths thought this sounded pretty good, and being rich, bought drinks all around. Everyone enjoyed a round of drink and song, and forgot their trials and tribulations for now.

Nobody has been lynched. It is now Night 5. You have 23 hours to send your PMs in.

Day 4 - Exit, Stage Left

Everyone was disturbed by Daisy's sudden death. These past days had been full of misery and grief, the likes of which such well-to-do socialites had never seen. Greybonez decided to lighten the mood.

"I shall soothe your melancholic moods with a one-man play!" he declared. "Let us meet in the parlour for my presentation!"

Greybonez' solo play was a tour de force in bad acting and stilted dialogue, with no coherent plot or structure. In a climactic scene, Greybonez crept behind the couch and reemerged dressed as Juliet (of Romeo fame), and began a soliloquy at the top of his lungs.

"YEA, NOISE? THEN I'LL BE BRIEF. O HAPPY DAGGER! THIS IS THY SHEATH-JKWERBLAWKFAWFHBABLABHRFWEABFAKSJA!!!"

He had gone to stab himself with the prop dagger he always kept on his person, but the angry mob had replaced it with a real one before the play started.

"OUT, OUT, BRIEF CANDLE! ET TU, BRUTE? TO BE OR NOT TO BE...something from Othello."

With that, he was dead. And the mob were no closer to finding Monty.

Greybonez has been lynched. He was Lady Salome D'Ysquith-Pumphrey. It i now Night. You have Twenty-THREE hours to send in your night actions.

Night 3 - Pushing Daisies

Monty fumed at his lack of success in recent days. Everyone he tried to kill slipped through his fingers, it was intolerable!

"Let this be known, Monty Navarro will no longer be stop-"

He was cut off by a chair from the third story of the castle. From a window high above Monty, a voice called down.

"I know it was you! I saw what you tried to do to poor, dear Sorsha! Suffer my wrath, illegitimate wretch!"

She grabbed a clock to throw down, but unfortunately Monty's accomplices, Sibella and Miss Shingle, snuck up behind her and pushed her out the window. With a heap she crashed beside a dizzy Monty. Spacedaisy was dead.

"Jolly good show, ladies!" Monty called up.

Day 3 - Stay This Madness!

"Kill him!"

"Lynch him!"

"Disinherit him!"

The crowd began to close in around Llama, torches and pitchforks in hand. They were in the parlour, so the torches were a particularly bad idea.

"As moderator of this mob, I must say, this course of action is the only sensible approach to finding the killer," observed the inspector from the sidelines.

"Rubbish!" interjected Asquith D'Ysquith, Sr. "We are meeting violence with more violence? I daresay we've fallen right in to the killer's trap! Let us think this through logically and determine the culprit based on rational deduction!"

The crowd agreed, and were brought to their senses for almost 24 hours. Llama ran to the liquor cabinet and took it to his room to recuperate from his near-death experience.

Night 2 - Why Are All the D'Ysquith's...Not Dying?

Monty Navarro stalked the grounds, searching for another family member to off.

"Soon they will all regret their fiendish actions, their cruel rejection of my mother!" he declared. "Soon, I will be earl, and all will respect and admire me for the gentleman I am! And Sibella...oh, Sibella will adore me, rather than that dull Lionel dolt. But how can I keep her affection until my gruesome deeds are done? Oh, what woe! What heartache! What..."

He just went on like this until morning. Most of the D'Ysquiths had a good night's rest.

However, at dawn, Sorsha stepped out for a quick walk around the grounds and found Monty soliloquizing in the conservatory. Without missing a beat, Monty pulled her into a Venus Flytrap, which promptly spat her back out. Monty grabbed a nearby hose and tried to strangle her, but the Flytrap attacked him instead, allowing Sorsha to escape.

Night 2 - Kiss From A Rose

Monty knew he had to isolate his victims in order to pick them off. Nobody suspected that the cast-off, reviled illegitimate son of a disowned daughter would be the one seeking revenge, but as improbable as it was, he vowed to murder every D'Ysquith in his way. As most of the others went to bed after killing Epi, Monty wandered the halls until he found his first victim - Dom.

"Hello, there...cousin," Monty said affably. "Fancy a walk in the gaden?"

"Certainly," said Dom. "All this talk of murder makes me feel uneasy. I need fresh air."

With that, they headed out to the garden. Monty grabbed a rose off of a bush in order to prick Dom to death, but then a better idea entered his head. Without warning, he grabbed Dom and plunged him into the fountain. Dom forced his way back up, so Monty grabbed a nearby statue and dropped it on Dom to weigh him down. Dom began to slide out from under it, so Monty threw a venomous snake into the pool. It bit Dom in the throat, and he fell backwards, impaling himself on the rose Monty had plucked.

"A rose by any other name," laughed Monty evilly, because he couldn't think of any other sayings with the word rose in them.

Ice to See You

The players gathered in the hall once more to take stock of the situation. Their search had proven mildly inconveniencing, what with the lacerations and concussions inflicted by the baleful books. But the family fortune was at risk, and head trauma was a small price to pay to protect one's place in succession.

"I think it was Lacey!" said Llama.

"I think it was Llama!" said Golden.

"I think it was Golden!" said Sorsha. "I jest, I think it was Epi!"

"Yes, his fancy talk and highbrow attitude is clearly put on!" agreed Greybonez. "I daresay he's not really nobility at all!"

They grabbed Epi and placed him on a chair with a noose around his neck. Unfortunately, the chandelier from which the noose was suspended gave way under the pressure and plummeted towards Llama, who was standing directly under it.

It landed directly in front of Llama, smashing a floorboard down and causing the opposite end of the board to spring upwards. Epi's chair was sadly placed on that end, and he was launched through the gaping hole which now pierced the roof. He crashed into the nearby frozen pond and sank to a watery grave. His dandyish hat floated to the surface symbolically.

Epignosis has been lynched. He was Asquith D'Ysquith Jr.

Throw the Book at Them!

"South it is then!" declared Epi, leading the group onwards to the South Wing of the house. As the group entered the library, books began to fall off the shelves at their heads. All the while, a voice sang a mischievous verse from somewhere within the group. Being too shocked to look around, none of the company could tell who was singing sinisterly.

The books descend
And spell their end
I wish to send
A message

I will succeed
And end this greed
This is indeed
My message

"Someone's trying to kill us!" yelled Greybonez as a dictionary crashed next to him.

Re: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder - Day 0

Murder! Mayhem! Music!

You shouldn't be afraid, it's just a simple sort of game
A rather simple game called mafia
Though you may find a blade or end up in the ghastly aim
Of a villain who'd love nothing but to off ya

So take care and do your best, try to find the baddies all
Make them fall beneath the power of your vote
If deceit is your real quest you can find yourself standing tall
As an earl, a stately gentleman of note

"I'm glad you have all finally arrived, though I daresay punctuality is a dying art even among the nobility," said Lord Adalbert. "I have summoned you all because..of THIS!"

He produced a note which simply stated one punny word: DIE-SQUITH.

"Someone is threatening our noble lineage!" he continued. "We must find the killer and see them brought to justice!"

"We have to find them!" shouted Golden.

"And fast!" declared Epignosis.

"We'll cuff and bind them!" added Sorsha.

"And make it last!" said Dom, trying to make a rhyme without bothering whether it made sense.

"Never fear!" declared Inspector Pinckney. "I declare that nobody leave Highhurst Castle until the culprit is uncovered!"

The angry mob agreed wholeheartedly. They would remain until they knew their family tree was safe.

"There's one thing we must do to begin uncovering clues," the detective added. "We must locate the source of this note. It was found in the hall, but it could have come from anywhere. Which wing shall we search first?"

It is now Day 0. Choose a wing of the house to search. You have 24 hours.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder - Day 8

CIVVIES (10)

Lord Adalbert D'Ysquith - Eighth Earl of Highhurst and patriarch of the D'Ysquith clan. Adalbert's vote counts for two in every lynch.

Asquith D'Ysquith, Sr. - Asquith Sr. is just about the only reasonable and level-headed person in this story. Asquith may stop one lynch.

Asquith D'Ysquith, Jr. - A bit of an upper-class twit. Each night he can send a player an impolite letter, removing them from the lynch poll the next day.

Reverend Ezekial D'Ysquith – The clergyman of the family, and also an architecture enthusiast. The reverend will show someone around his church each night, protecting them from all targets.

Lady Hyacinth D'Ysquith – Lady Hyacinth is a globe-trotting philanthropist, and she's absurdly hard to kill. Each time she is about to be killed or lynched, there is a 50% chance that she will survive.

Henry D'Ysquith – Henry is a country beekeeper. Each night he will send his bees to discover another player's identity.

Major Bartholomew D'Ysquith – Each night Major Bartholomew will force another player to accompany him to the weightlifting hall, blocking them for the night.

Lady Salome D'Ysquith-Pumphrey – Salome is an actress so dreadful that every night her performance will insanify another player for the next day.

Phoebe D'Ysquith – Henry's sister and Monty's second love interest. SECRET

Chauncey D'Ysquith - SECRET

BADDIES (3)

Monty Navarro – Monty is the son of a disowned D'Ysquith daughter, and he'll stop at nothing to claim the family fortune. He kills every night. Monty will also survive the first attempt on his life. SECRET

Sibella Holland – Deceitful and delectable, she is Monty's first love interest, but unfortunately a married woman. Sibella may redirect a player's power every night.

Miss Shingle – Miss Shingle is an old friend of Monty's mother, and the instigator of the whole story. She can control another player's vote each lynch.

INDEPENDENT (1)

Chief Inspector Pinckney – The Inspector is determined to see the killer brought to justice but he doesn't really care about the D'Ysquiths either way. The Inspector will win if he survives and Monty dies, but can win with either the civvies or the baddies.
