Re: Game of Champions 2017 - Night 13

super classy lynching me when I couldn't be online. I'm pretty sure I'm done with mafia. I may come back for games here and there, based on hosts. but, yeah. I think I'm done.

I just popped in to catch up while I eat some lunch. Playing lots of catch up from work, since I wasn't here yesterday and I have back to back meetings interspersed with prepping a class for tonight and getting stuff done to prep for meetings in the morning. Stupid holidays. And Ugh. Of course I don't have time to fully respond right now. I will hopefully be able to get back on before deadline.

In short, you are totally wrong about me. I'm not Strex. I'm also not an Even. I find both Wilgy and Marmot hard to read and didn't want to go into detail on the post you cited (where I went into more detail on others) because I didn't find a need to reiterate the opinions of others. I am not their teammate. I am not a baddie.

I'll try to find time for more later. I wish I had time to defend now.

Re: Game of Champions 2017 - Day 13

But, because I'm just in that kind of mood, and assuming it means Charlie style:

1. The moment/ceremony of ordination.
2. Shaving my head (exactly) 4 years ago and being part of a group that raised $1,427,792 towards research towards fighting childhood cancer.
3. Realizing that I'm really good at what I do professionally, that I'm appreciated, and learning that I've had a lasting impact on people.
4. The first time words that I wrote were published.
5. Figuring out that some of my lifetime friends are really there for life.

Also, are we just taking Ben at face value? I mean, I love Ben Linus and all--but he's not necessarily the most honest of folks...I'm not suggesting we don't do these things, but pondering if we actually have to.

Re: Game of Champions 2017 - Night 12

Oy! Totally missed the lynch. Sorry all. Crazy busy all day yesterday getting ready for the holiday (and then at the seder, the holiday meal with lots and lots of ritual and story telling attached). Despite exhaustion and 4 too many glasses of wine, I tried catching up last night, and fell asleep reading the thread. Then today was a lot of cleaning up, running around, and getting back to my congregation for a second seder dinner for the community. That part of the holiday is over. Now it's just really weird eating for a week. But my schedule normalizes, so there's that. I should be able to actually focus now.

I forget how work intensive it is to prepare for the holiday starting tomorrow night. Oy. (it's the one where we eat a long meal with lots of stuff going on and then don't eat bread for a week)
S~V~S wrote: Thu Mar 29, 2018 7:13 am So what would you think? Three original and one first death recruit?

I wonder what the mechanism would be? If it was number based, like the first NK your team makes, or choice based, the baddies could find out who other baddies are, because their recruit would fail since I would guess they can't recruit from another team.

So either the baddies have info, or it is a random recruiting mechanism, imo. Would lynched people be excluded from the recruit process, since they would bring baggage?

I think Jack was civ both times. He moved from one life to the next cleanly.

This is something to think about, and what it basically says is no one can be excluded based on thread, because the person you just tried to lynch could be your new partner.

Anyone have any thoughts on anyone who change suspicions? Maybe came back from the Pet Semetary?
Like ZomBree? (ok, I may be the only one that remembers that from a game eons ago) My gut tells me it's more likely built into second roles that they are mafia, but recruitment (or versions thereof) could also be the case. As for how many on each mafia (asked before this post), I think each mafia starting with 3 or 4 and potentially gaining 1 more is realistic. It was also theorized in Cerberus, which I think woul make a certain amount of sense, that there could be mafia members who do not have BTSC with their team, at least at the start of the game.

It would explain how LC knew about the other chat
So would the existence of a single Even in Cerberus.
The fact that there were kills on both even and odd nights (and I think, even if we don't assume that evens kill on even nights) in Cerberus strongly suggests that there were Evens on both tribes, since the rule was stated you could only target on your own tribe in general, and it stands to reason that would include kills--I can't imagine that it wouldn't.

It now would seem Niju is civ, so that aspect is somewhat moot. But in general, I think it's still an important discussion.
Kylemii wrote: Fri Mar 30, 2018 1:41 am nijuu was pub revealed as town.... what are the actual implications of that?

Nutella was a role that revealed a reversed alignment reveal. we thought she used it on Speedchuck but speeds reveal was actually real, right? implying that a role that gave a real flip does exist and that Nutella actually never used her power before dying. but then nijuu flip happened... which means either the role that flipped speedchuck was more than one-shot power or that there's a third role that does a similar thing to the other two

in any case we know this wasn't done specifically done by the wrong flipper, and the odds of there being two false flippers seems low, or at least lower than there being a 2-shot real-flipper. 3rd possibility would be an insane flipper but that would be stupid and impractical and wouldn't benefit anyone.

i'm inclined to trust this flip
Other possibilities include a role that can mimic roles--or use the powers of dead players.

That said, my gut says to trust the flip, as well. And to wonder if niju killed me and why.

Heading to NJ tomorrow for Passover (the Jewish holiday with no bread, but lots of wine). Will be on sporadically, but should be able to keep up and participate. Just giving fair warning if there are chunks of time when I'm not posting.

But I am looking at a couple more people for next lynch as well. I’m going to back off LoRab for the time being. I feel as though she started indie, and could now be anything. She could even be a boat. (That’s a Peter griffin joke, I’m not calling LoRab a boat)
Thanks for that clarification, lol.
Scotty wrote: Mon Mar 26, 2018 6:45 pm Interesting. We’ve now had a quiet night on both an odd and even night..one was probably marmot’s 1st role, and we know a kill will still be sent out randomly if no one sends one in, so ???

Got some tomfoolery up in hurr
And yeah--what Epi said. The rules say this:
Golden wrote: Thu Feb 22, 2018 7:42 am
THE RULES: READ THESE CAREFULLY

4) You may not target someone on two consecutive nights unless your role says otherwise. Some roles will have their targets randomised if you do not send a PM, so if you want to make a tactical choice not to use your night power, please PM the host to check first. All targeting roles need to send a PM to both golden and juliets at least two hours before deadline.
I don't see anything there about a kill....so.....uh....

Re: Game of Champions 2017 - Night 10

I obviously can't say much about my first role. What I can say is that I hesitated to use it in the beginning because I was scared of what it would do. The advice to push it came from people I didn't necessarily trust (which would be, well, anyone other than me) and was based entirely on what the role did in the original game--roles have generally not been identical this game so I didn't want to base it on that. Also, it sounds like it kind of had a sucky result in the original game, so I didn't want to base on that regardless.

Marmot (probably without knowing) triggered the role.
In addition: It does not appear that wilgy killed anyone with this ability. I agree with Epi's assessment that its mechanics seem more malevolent than good.
I agree. Even though I'm hesitant to say roles are good or bad as a general idea, I think that because of its mechanics, this role is more likely bad. That said, why wouldn't Wilgy kill marmot when given the chance? That doesn't seem likely if they aren't teammates (although I have no idea why Marmot would do that, then again, Marmot can be surprising), as baddies tend to want to kill everyone not on their team. Or Wilgy actually isn't bad, but I find that even more unlikely.

No it wouldn't. Wilgy marked the first player to respond to the vocaroo, not the vocarooing player themselves. So whoever was first to reply to INH's insane rap would have been marked.
Ah right.

So afaik Marmot is the only that directly responded to it. And he didn’t day-die.

I’m looking at LoRab, who did day-die. She had a post that has nothing in it at 11:18p on Wednesday March 14th on Day 7. Is that a cockatoo?
Yeah--I made one. I don't remember if anyone responded to it. I didn't know what would happen, just that I had to sing a song of atleast 10 seconds. From questioning the hosts, I know it had to be on topic.

That Marmot was marked for death and wasn't killed--and that we know he was mafia--makes me feel that the suspicion on Wilgy was spot on.

Hey, y'all. I'm heading home today, so should be back to somewhat normal mafia schedule. Voting Wilgy so I don't forget another vote. I've been reading the thread when I have time, and the points on him make sense.

Aubergine is conveniently a food I can eat during passover (which starts next Friday, so differently quirky schedule coming up soon).
