I only picked you two because you two made it clear that you won't vote for anyone in your bloc. But if like SVS says we can work something out, that'd be great.
S~V~S wrote:OK, I am gonna bite the bullet here and do what I have to do for the good of all of us going forward. New peeps are now part of Atamai and Atamai FTW. While the people I would have preferred to lynch from original Atamai are all, I'm going to guess, over at mamama lynching *your* former teammates, for us to be able to pull together and win every challenge from here on in, we need to be cohesive.

I don't want to lose another person after this, any of the *SIX* of us remaining, not just Faraday and I, unless it is 100% necessary. We are going to win every immunity challenge.

I know what I am going to have to do in the end, and you need to do it too, Faraday, you know I am right.

Just an fyi, when we did the stone challenge, Faraday hated the idea of sending in a black stone, so negative, standing for self interest and greed (I would not be surprised if Golden or Eloh did/said something similar), but he did it becasue he understood the stakes.

I just want guarantees from the Newcomers that, going forward, we judge each circumstance on merit and value to the team, and not on where your original PM placed you on an imaginary map. I realize you all pledged to each other, and we did the same. And for the sake of peace you are asking us to break that pledge, and even in some cases with the gall to blame us for not liking it and trying to push back against the new majority. I am willing to do it. But I don't want to be faced with this voting bloc again presented as a given. Am I clear here? We'll cooperate, but we want some quid pro quo going forward.

insertnamehere wrote:I guess it all seems a little contrived how Quin came into the thread, stirred up a whole bunch of shit out of nowhere, and put a massive target on his back.

Quin wasn't really on anybody's radar until after the Reward Challenge, when he barged in like a bull in a china shop.

And there's a Hidden Immunity Idol nobody knows about...

Connecting the dots, I can't help but feel suspicious of how you guys are acting. I'm worried you're going to take out DH, Elo, or Lorab.
You don't think any of our behavior is due to you guys effectively saying we are the only people who should be considered for lynching? Nobody from Mañana has shed any light on how much they contributed back on their side.
It's really only Quin whose behavior has been hostile. I haven't had any issue with yours or SVS's. And I do understand the frustration.

And no one asked about relative contribution on our old beach until you did. So, happy to answer. But we all contributed. I don't think anyone was lazy or non-contributing. Everyone was part of challenges, using our skill sets (real and role related) to do our best in challenges. Folks got water and food and resources were shared. A few people took limited naps when their energy was getting low--especially when food poisoning started becoming a factor--but other than that there was good tribe participation. We had a discussion about going exploring in the area, in hopes of finding the idol or other useful things, for the benefit of the tribe as a whole, an a couple of people explored. We came up with a plan to take turns in gathering food v exploring--but then half the tribe got sick, so we abandoned that plan because of immediate needs. Especially after losing that reward challenge.

I can't think of anyone who didn't contribute their fair share in challenges and on the beach.

I kind of meant it the other way, as a defense of Quin, but yeah, I see your point :ponder:

And see, this is what I meant by hostility; not "hostile" per se, but both of our lynches were no brainers, a complete zero posts no show and a volunteer. We had no discussion or strife or accusations of *any* kind either time. I will think about it and do what is right for the tribe so going forward we can better come together.

I knew this was coming eventually, but I don't have to like it.
No brainers would be nice. Neither of ours were like that, as we described.

But in looking in the difference in responses to DH's post between DF and Quin, I see most of the hostility in the conversation for this tribal coming from Quin.

As I have said, I'm keeping my word to the people I have said I will protect.

And DH didn't throw you under the bus as a vote candidate. He suggested that you were one of 2 people he is considering for the vote. As I've shared, I'm in the same boat as he is. I value loyalty and I've given my word to people. It's not a tribe thing, it's an individual word thing.

This isn't mafia, so throwing under the bus doesn't really carry the same weight (no pun intended) and we need to vote for someone. Would you have preferred there be no discussion of the vote? How would you have preferred the vote discussion to happen?
I know the dynamic isn't the same. I'm not treating this as the same thing as mafia. In fact, DH has demonstrated integrity in keeping his word to people to whom he has given his word. Are you suggesting that he go back on his word and break promises? Is taking back a promise to protect another individual how you define trustworthiness?

What makes you think that no one looked at strategies? The items were placed based on strategy and the items were searched for based on strategy. There are multiple strategies for battleship that exist. The strategies chosen may not be the ones you would have chosen. They may not even be the ones that you found in the article you read in the quick google search you did. But that doesn't mean that someone else didn't find an article in a different google search. SVS even posted an article (demonstrating that it's factually untrue that nobody actually did).

The difference between "suggesting strategies" and "there are strategies" is that clearly you had a particular strategy in mind, and you are not happy that it was not the strategy that was used. But no one had any way of knowing what your opinion was about which strategy you would have preferred based on the one you read about because you didn't say which one it was. Therefore, someone using a different strategy (whether known through a google search or through life and playing battleship and already knowing strategy that exists) cannot imply that they didn't act strategically.

And you cannot claim that you made suggestions of what strategy should be used. Until you said differently, there was no way for anyone to know that you wouldn't have done things in exactly the same way, based on what you had posted before you went to bed.
I don't care that the strategies I had in mind weren't used. Not once did I say that.
No, but you've said that you suggested people look at strategies and clearly they didn't. What makes you believe that is true, other than the fact that you didn't like the strategies you had in mind?

Quin wrote:These time zone differences are worse than I thought :p

Going to bed. I looked up a battleship strategy that gives a couple of tips that might help with placement and also searching. Might be a good idea for people to have a look before making any decisions.
Because, there's nothing here but the words "a battleship strategy". Nothing about quadrants. Nothing about picking diagonally (which I suggested based on the article *SVS* posted and her own desire/experience to use the diagonal strategy.) Nothing about taking turns, or dialing in on items, or using a grid with a color code.

Ask anyone from Manama, I'm the first person to give out fair dues, but taking credit for stuff you didn't do, that's a no-no.
http://www.ultrabattleship.com/tips.php

Don't reject my efforts because you couldn't do a google search.

The grid is the only thing you have going for you. Thank you for that.
I think his point is that you simply said: there are strategies.

Not which ones (there are several out there). Not specific suggestions. Just--there are strategies--look for them.

Now you seem to be saying that you suggested strategies. Not the advice to look for strategies (which I think we all probably would have figured out).

Honestly, I think he's right.

Not that you aren't a good player and aren't useful--but in the fact that you're claiming to have given strategy in the challenge when, in fact, you didn't.

Also, that you're blaming DH, and others who were online at the time, but he's the one you are speicifcally plaming for placement choices, for using a legit strategy for placing items in battleship (although apparently not one you found on your google search), and that doesn't sit right with me, either.

I'm in much the same situation as DH. There are people I've given my word that I won't vote for them, which limits my choices. And the way you are posting right now is not making me want to not vote for you.

I think that enough shows that even while you and the rest of the tribe were sick you were more interested in your own self-preservation than helping at camp.
Just as context, the general, prevailing wisdom on Manamana (doo doo doo doo doo) was that searching for idols was not a selfish act, and that exploring was good for the greater good of the tribe, when other needs were cared for. In this case, with there being a very good chance that we won the challenge (a risk which was true), I think it was fair to believe that those needs were indeed cared for.

S~V~S wrote:New people to Atamai, DH, LoRab, INH & Eloh~ did you have any hostile lynches/councils over there? We had one no show, sig, and MP basically volunteered to go. So we have not seen any strife.
Both lynches, sorry tribals, were....interesting. But no, not hostile. I wouldn't say there was strife. But there was discussion.

Neither one was a clear choice.

The first was between Boom and Wilgly. It was close. Both did things in the thread that made people question if they had the best interest of the tribe in mind in different ways. What DH said was really what did it in for Boom.

The second, I was the other name that was brought up, when Wilgy was voted out. First because I was kind of harsh to Wilgy early on, because he hadn't been reading the thread, and I was having a bad day, and I admit that I was feeling frustrated and lashed out. Also, Elo and I had a miscommunication in BTSC, complicated by each of us being online at completely different times, other than about 20 minutes when we were both on. I'd love to have BTSC with Elo again to continue the conversation--although I know she's already booked for tonight. But maybe the next night?

But, other than that, and as far as I know it was only Elo's vote based on the misunderstanding and she voted before I got home last night and Wilgy because he had to vote, the tribe overall felt that Wilgy's behavior was more rogue and less team.

So, I wouldn't say strife. But the decisions weren't necessarily as easy as yours sounded, though.

I'm here, after a very long long (but fun) morning of cosplay, carnival, and day drinking (because today is the best Jewish holiday ever) and finally caught up reading the thread.

Is there a way to subdivide a section so I can take a part now that I'm here? Battleship is not my best game, but it's not my worst game either.
