I'm really sorry this was your first game back into mafia. There were many times I'd have liked to answer you but as a host, I just can't pop into the thread and explain things, it gives people an edge that maybe you don't have btsc and that's why I answered you. I hoped someone would answer you and was disappointed they didn't, or that you would have PMd me. Again, I can't PM you out of the blue and having that influence people's read on you if you said something like "never mind, the host PMd me and told me all the baddie roles and power roles were revealed in the first post". I have to be careful in that way because I've seen hosts get too involved and throw the game in a different direction that way. I don't like to influence anything game related.

Roleclaiming is not usually allowed when the game setup is completely open. My setup was completely closed, and baddies can just as easily fake claims so it's up to you to believe what's being said or not. I get people don't like roleclaiming here, so I'd probably opt for an open setup the next time I host and ban roleclaiming. I don't ever roleclaim even when it's allowed, but some instances in this game really called for it, like Mongoose for example.

As for the vanilla roles....that really wasn't the intention. I had an inventor with six items, six powerful items, that had to be distributed, including a vig shot. I had an every night cop and an every night bodyguard. the scum team only had 2-shot janitor and 2-shot roleblocker. I think my mistake was definitely not imagining a scenario where the inventor gets lynched day 1 in a game with open roleclaiming. I just did not see that happening in any way. If Mongoose had claimed, there were protective powers and no-double-targeting rules that could have seen her surviving at least 1-2 nights more. I felt very sad town lost the inventor day 1, you have no idea. But I honestly thought civs had the game in the bag after the indiglo lynch.

I don't think all games are usually this slow. I was really disappointed this is what happened after Jay died, but....what can you do. If you really want activity, you have to ask more questions and do more nudging. people like me and Jay get pooped on constantly for posting "too much" but that never really stops us and games like this with no discussion is exactly why i'll never stop doing that.

again, sorry you had a bad first experience and I'm really sorry there were things you didn't understand in the roles that I couldn't directly help you with. Definitely sign up to Epignosis' game, he's the best all-inclusive host and you're guaranteed to have a good time.

Dunya, I had a lot of fun playing this, please dont think I was complaining about the game. I was complaining about myself, not knowing about how the game has changed. I was having to learn as I went along, which was also fun for me, but I wasn’t as helpful to the town as I should have been.
I think you were a wonderful host, and I imagine that not interfering in the game was actually hard for you. I would have been on pins and needles all the time, wanting to say something. This was really a nice game for me to get my feet wet again, and I’m so glad I got to play. I’m using Mafiascum’s Wiki pages to try and learn more of the terminology so that I’ll be able to play better in future games. Thanks again!

I think it's funny everything that you all took as so suspicious. I just legitimately had no idea who anyone was and my reads were 100% just my reads, my votes weren't aiming for a civ I just had shitty reads. I wasn't trying to protect anyone or anything since I knew who no one was. Except I did find out nutella was the role cop after I controlled her. So I knew I had to kill her the next night or she would've checked me. I didn't know that I would inherit the kill after the mafia were eliminated until I was given it.

I wasn't faking or trying to hide behind being busy either, I just was.

Ok if what you’re saying is the absolute state of affairs, then Nutella is bad.

I normally prefer lynching, over night kills, but it appears that roles are revealed at night in this game, so I’m good either way. I have kind of trusted Mac, so far, but I’ve been aware that he could be bluffing this whole time. Owner helped set him up as being a town role, and that seems suspicious. Although he claimed that she role copped him. Would a godfather be able to role cop? And Indiglo didn’t appear to have a role that received info about the living. So that’s all weird to me.

Both Nutella and Elohcin are mysteries. Both say very little so there is nothing to analyze. JJJ seemed to suspect both Nutella and Rey towards the end, but he was wrong about Rey.
I will reread that back and forth later today. And look at the voting for Elohcin and Nutella again.

Daisy, what can I say? Yes, I always suspect you. But I suspect you anyway.

There is 1 here. Tomorrow will be a 4 player mylo I think with a no lynch option available to us. I am not going to bodyguard anybody tonight because I feel better about our chances with me alive quite honestly given I am the only player here that I know for sure is a civilian.

At this point I am sort of leaning towards Matahari mostly because Matahari has kind of had passive suspicion all game long and where there is smoke there is fire. I think at a glance in a trustfall exercise I would probably trust Matahari the least.

That being said I really have very little reason to trust anyone. Joy.

The three of you that are civilians I would like to see you emerge as civilians at this critical moment and do some serious analysis. If only to force the Mafia player to try to keep up with the civilian behaviour and give us more content to pick through. Being quiet is just letting them blend.

I guess you could call it passive, but recall that I have stated my suspicions and why, since my first vote. Owner, Indiglo, and Daisy. I am aware at all times that my suspicions could be wrong, but they are mine and I follow them. I’d really like to hear a good strong case about everyone in game and why they are civ or mafia. I think the way some people play, posting very little, makes it hard to build a case, I guess. Oops there’s me being all passive again

Second thoughts- I’m going to stick with Daisy. I think her trying to convince people to switch their votes to Rey and off herself and Owner was suspicious enough to get a vote. [VOTE: daisy] aubergine

I’m going to place a vote on Rey for now, just because I may not get back in time to vote. I can see him being guilty of the same thing I suspect Daisy for, that there doesn’t seem to be any real scumhunting going on. Rey is Daisy’s only suspect, seems to be a gut based suspicion, while Rey has voted differently each day, without much of a reason provided. If I am back in time, I might still change this, if I see a better reason.
As far as everyone else goes, any of you could be bad, I just don’t really have any kind of feel there.

No, I was really convinced that Rey was the best vote, I wasn’t going to move even if it meant risking myself in a three way tie.

And I missed the vote but I don’t think I would have voted Indi either. I didn’t think she was bad.

Can you say why you think Rey is bad? If you have made a post about him, I missed it. But if you already have, let me know that and I’ll go find it.

But I was watching throughout the day. I could have sworn that either You or Luna voted first. I voted second or third, Nutella voted shortly after I did. When you voted, did you see any other names? I don’t think the vote thing keeps names in order because I’m sure that Nutella voted after I did. I’m not sure I attach any meaning to the vote order this time, because of JJJs dramatic last words lol.

Combination of them not being viable candidates at the time, not feeling like my reasons were particularly any stronger than my Daisy reasons, and not being around to change at the very end of I'd wanted to.

A three way tie is kind of pointless. I could move my vote to Daisy or Owner, or someone else could move to Indiglo.

You might be missing my reasoning. It’s just a gut feeling I had about a few peoples day one vote posts. I posted about it in response to JJJ earlier. I could be way off base though. If you think it’s dumb reasoning then tell me what you see wrong with it.

For now I’m going to place my vote on Indiglo. It might change.

I think when I read this, her opinion on Rey kind of matched my own. I didn’t notice Juliet’s questions to Rey until today, and that makes me rethink. She always notices things that matter, anyway, this is why the gunpoint list doesn’t work for me. I’m not at a point of condemning some people yet.

I actually disagree with all of rey's opinions so far, but from the tone of his posts, I want to town read him. And yes, I do suspect you Jay. Not so sure about Mac though, which is weird, because I seem to always think he's scum.

It makes sense. I think the three you named, @Spacedaisy, @indiglo, and @Owner of a Lonely Heart, ought to say something in response.

I would encourage you not to concern yourself with how people play now versus what you're accustomed to. If you read the thread and develop an opinion about anything, just stick it right here in the thread. Opinions cannot be "outdated", they are just opinions. Let's hear them in whatever form they take inside your brain. Otherwise it is a bit more difficult to interpret your approach as authentic.

I view reywaS as a suspect by process of elimination. His style prevents him from saying things that will look awful, but nor has he done anything to earn much civilian credit.

Do you find anyone in this game trustworthy?

I have calmed down a lot about Lunalee, Nutella, and you. I am trying to give Owner some trust because of her recent posts, but she is not on my trust list yet. You are not square on the trust list either, but at least you make posts that sound like you are really searching for answers. Everyone else is sort of a blank for me, at this point.

Role playing- that’s new for me too. Not having watched the show, I don’t always catch when people are role playing. So I’m having to go with old school methods. Gut.

Since JJJ educated me on the new way of approaching a mafia game, I’ll update my list of suspects. The people I’m antsy about are Daisy, Indiglo, and Owner (although I’m a little less antsy about her after reading her posts). These are based on getting an uneasy feel about their day one vote posts, mostly.

I’m not sure I get all the vouching going on in the game. Openly pleading for teammates used to be considered as targeting. Is this the new normal in mafia, or a bold fake out?

How is it opportunistic when my one vote rallied a bunch of people to take action? Before my vote, everyone was sitting around in tiedville. My one vote created reads. An opportunistic person would want to get away with something rather than draw attention to themselves.

It was your timing, more than anything else. It also felt like a pounce, that came out of nowhere. But I could be mistaken, wouldn’t be the first time.

I have decided to look in a different direction. Owner may be genuine, but she seems to be going in an opportunistic direction.
