Well, have to hand it to Murray for being able to stick that one out. An ace to finish it off. What a game!

Still hoping Federer can close this 2nd set.

Any recommendations where to start with them? I bought their EP "Long Live the King" (because it was a couple bucks), but learned that it is only outtakes from the studio album. I haven't listened to it yet, with the intent to start somewhere else. Thoughts?
The Crane Wife had me hooked, but you really can't go wrong with Castaways and Cutouts, Picaresque, or The Hazards of Love. Colin Meloy is an excellent storyteller and lyricist, and he shines on all four of these.
Pretty much this. I love every single one of their albums, personally. I would probably start with The Crane Wife, but you can't go wrong with any of those.

Hedgeowl wrote:Dramamine you say? I may have to consider this. I also have horrible motion sickness. I can't spin ever, swings are awful now, and boats? Oh wow I have had some miserable ferry rides. I once went on the zipper at a county fair with a friend because no one else would go with him. It was one of the worst days ever. I would just lay on the ground to stop the spinning, but nothing helped.
I can relate entirely. I found out about this stuff when I was incredibly sick on a boat ride myself about a year ago, but never got around to trying it and it sort of slipped my mind, until recently when I began planning my vacation for January. The woman who spoke to me about it said she had the same problem but it worked like a charm. And damn does it!

It does seem to make you drowsy though; it affected me pretty heavily in that regard when I used it.

Re: Random~

So I have absolutely dreadful motion sickness issues. I get carsick, seasick, and sick when riding roller coasters especially. Combined with my fear of heights, it pretty much made amusement parks generally suck for me (theme parks are different, but still, could never ride the rides really).

I went to Kings Island yesterday with my brother and Daisy, however, after taking some Dramamine... and it worked like a fucking charm. Not a bit nauseous. Worked my way up from the less intense rollercoasters to the most intense one at the park. Couldn't believe it. It was fun!

All this to say Dramamine is awesome.

Re: Random~

Actually, there are tons of amazing '90s albums, especially across many genres, and I suppose a really neat playlist could be manufactured for such a purpose...

Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wu-Tang Clan, Sigur Ros, Portishead, A Tribe Called Quest, Belle and Sebastian, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, R.E.M., Dream Theater, Opeth...

Whenever I try to think one musical decade is better than a different one, I realize my folly.

Linki: Yeah, you're probably right.

Re: Random~

Lol, I personally wouldn't go that far (but that's just me), but he certainly is fucking awesome. The Smiths is one of my favorite bands ever for good reason.

Since I'm technically a '90s kid, I suppose I could do a '90s birthday and incorporate an awesome musical playlist, but somehow it seems less cool a prospect than an '80s one. Sigh.

That, and, I think I'd have way too much trouble restricting myself to one decade. Lol.

Re: Random~

Seeing him live earlier this year with BWT was truly awesome. His setlist was really odd though, but still very enjoyable. I just can't help but think I would have loved it so much more to hear "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side", "Bigmouth Strikes Again", "This Charming Man", "Girlfriend in a Coma", etc. And he didn't even play "There is a Light That Never Goes Out"!!!!! Bah.

But still, it was really awesome, and I do respect his decision to play solo stuff and mostly B-sides Smiths stuff.

Damn, Robert, I wish I could be there.

Truly awesome playlist by the way, but it's sorely lacking in the new wave and post-punk departments. It would become even more awesome with appearances from The Smiths, Talking Heads, Talk Talk, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, New Order, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, etc.

Especially The Smiths. Holy shit. How can you have the '80s without Morrissey???
