Re: Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room

Hey you two! :D

I'm really so glad to have you both here.

How about some questions from me?

For both of you:
- Do you enjoy tabletop and other board/strategy/card games other than mafia? If so, what are some of your favorites?
- What is your favorite activity and/or location if you want to relax?
- If you could travel anywhere right now with no concern for time or money, where would it be? Why?
- Favorite book? TV show? Movie? Video game? In addition, do you have any esoteric recommendations for lovers of any of these to check out?
- What music do you listen to? Could be genres, artists, songs, whatever. I'll gladly take anything music. :drums:

For Infected_alien8_ only:
- Jay already asked you about what you learned about yourself in Champs this year, but nonetheless I wanted to reflect in another way on our games together. What were some of your most treasured moments from playing your qualifier (Game 9) and wildcard (WC Game 1) Champs games this year and why? In addition, which player(s) from either game would you most like to play with again and why?
- What inspired and/or influenced you to choose Psychology as your focus of study at university?
- Re: what dunya asked you earlier about people being good or evil, care to elaborate on why you believe you tend to gravitate towards a pessimistic view of the human race in general? (This is a fascinating discussion for me, and I appreciate that you two landed on different sides here.)

For Tsaiah only:
- What were some of your most treasured moments spectating Champs this year and why? (this could be Game 9 and WC Game 1, because they were obviously the best, but also other games as well)
- If you could learn any 3 languages instantaneously, which would they be and why?
- If money were no concern and you could start writing as a fiction writer, what would you choose to work on first and why? Would it be something new or already in the works?
- Re: what dunya asked you earlier about people being good or evil, care to elaborate on why you believe strongly here that the majority of people are good? (This is a fascinating discussion for me, and I appreciate that you two landed on different sides here.)

Alright, Owner of a Lonely Heart, more questions!

- How do you feel about typing other people re: MBTI and Enneagram? In what setting should it be done or not done? (This could be in general and/or specifically how you feel about it.)
- What resources would you first point someone to who knows nothing or little about either MBTI or Enneagram?
- Is there in your assessment a particularly overlooked or esoteric board/tabletop/strategy game you would recommend to fellow enthusiasts?
- Do you like to travel? What has been your favorite vacation and/or location to travel? If you could travel anywhere right now with time and money not being a concern, where would it be?

Re: Owner of a Lonely Heart - Interrogation Room

Thanks for participating, Dyslexicon, and hope to see you around in games again soon! You have been a welcome addition to this community ever since that Season 3 Champs scrimmage game. :D

Owner of a Lonely Heart - Interrogation

Now let's welcome Owner of a Lonely Heart to the Interrogation Room!

Owner is from the awesome community of Personality Cafe but has a second home at Daily Mafia and has played elsewhere as well. Even though she has not played a game with us just yet, she has interacted and played games with various Syndicate regulators already, yours truly included. In my experience she has been an absolute pleasure and I am sure you all will agree as well once you get to know her.

So please join me in giving Owner a huge Syndicate welcome!

Owner of a Lonely Heart

I'll start off with some questions for you.

- Do you prefer to play as town or mafia?
- What is your most treasured moment in a mafia game as town?
- What is your most treasured moment in a mafia game as mafia?
- Do you have a mafia 'rival'? If so, who is it?
- Who are some of your favorite players to play mafia with?
- What are some of your favorite mafia games you have hosted?
- I know you're into anime! What are some of your favorites? What would you recommend to anyone who needs to start somewhere?
- So you are also into board game design! I think people around here will especially find this cool. Want to talk about the couple of games you've been working on?

Thank yous! <3
- Looks like you have some nice music taste too. Do you play musical instrument(s)? If so, which? If not, which would you most like to learn?
I play the piano, sing, and have played bass, drums and saxophone as well, but I'm not really great at any of them anymore.
- Do you enjoy concerts? What's your favorite concert experience you've ever been to? Which artist would you like to see live that you haven't (or can't because they're deceased or not touring/together)?
Yaaas! My favorite was a Tool concert I went to when I was 16. It was outdoors at a festival and pretty wild. The most recent concert I enjoyed was Radiohead in Oslo. I've also had good experiences at a couple of Dream Theatre concerts when I was a teenager.
- Do you have any esoteric album recommendations?
I guess The Grand Opening & Closing by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is pretty esoteric. It's a bit hard and not necessarily the most accesible at first, but I really love it.

There's this family band called Low, if you're into pondering, slightly depressive, quiet rock from a married mormon couple who probably has had the weirdest life. Their album, Trust, is my favorite. I'm not always good at listening to the lyricsof songs, but their song Little Argument With Myself hits me right in the existential anxiety:

just keep counting the stars
like someday you'll find out
just how many there are
and we all can go home
cause there's nothing as sad
as a man on his back
counting stars

Oh! And California by Mr Bungle is like the definition of esoteric! They mix so many styles and it's clever, funny and beautiful all at the same time. Definitely recommend that one if you haven't heard it already!^^
I'll think of more, but that's something. :drums:
Kind of want to hear your album recommendations too (?)

Hey! Sorry for the delay with responding to this. California by Mr. Bungle is amazing! Disco Volante is great too. And man, I haven't listened to SGM in forever, but that's a good one too. My music taste radar was definitely accurate.

I was a drummer in a garage band for a couple of my teen years. I still play occasionally, and hopefully will find another local band at some point in the future. I miss the noise.

I've attended four concerts, five if you include a Christmas music celebration, and probably twenty-five if I include shows that I played in myself. I enjoyed watching Kansas play with a college symphony orchestra, and recently I had the opportunity to see Weird Al live. The other two concerts were Rush concerts.

Ah, hard to say what my favorite was, but I'd put Kansas up there. That was a beautiful concert, and most importantly, I had really good seats.
Welcome to the Syndicate, also known as the Rush Fan Club.

What've you been up to?
Slowly suffocating under mounds of research. Lol. Glad to be here.
I can relate! Neat to see another PhD student who shares my suffering. :p I just finished up my 2nd year (and all coursework) for my PhD in Accounting. I have a 2nd year paper that I'm working on now over the summer, along with teaching and then studying for comprehensive exams, then after all of that noise it'll be dissertation time. :omg:

Has anyone asked music questions yet? Because that's my job.

What kind of music do you like?
What are some of your favorite bands/musical artists?
What bands/musical artists have you seen in concert, if any?
Which concert(s) are your favorite and why?
Do you play any musical instruments?

sig wrote:Yeah that was one of the reasons my parents decided to do it. I'd also say the stereotype that homeschooled kids being anti-social/socially retarded isn't very accurate. The same is true for homeschooled kids not having enough peer socialization. It could happen, but isn't more likely to happen to homeschooled children.

Sure do you have any suggestions? I think I've listened to Rush before and I didn't really like them.
Good to hear, but yeah, I never bought that argument myself. I think it's based on faulty logic at best.

Of course!

Rush - Permanent Waves (try this one if you're willing to give them another shot)
Yes - Close to the Edge
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Blue Öyster Cult - Secret Treaties
Boston - Boston
Styx - The Grand Illusion
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
echolyn - As the World

Those are some really good starting albums IMO, not even necessarily my favorites (though some are and I do love them all) but really solid intro albums for each band. Then depending on whether you like any of them, and which one(s), I'd have various follow-up suggestions. You should be able to get a feel from Youtube or Spotify if you're not willing to invest money in them first; I'd bet all of those albums are in full somewhere if not multiple places.

I'd be shocked if you don't really enjoy at least one of them, if not more, just based on your liking of Leftoverture alone. They're all pretty unique too, so even though most of those bands fall under the "prog rock" label, I'd recommend listening to each one despite if you dislike the others.

Re: Interrogation Room

I'm particularly interested in your homeschooling experiences considering I feel very strongly about the... ineptitude of our public school system and I'd like to homeschool my kid(s) someday if at all possible. Good to hear that it made a positive impression on you!

Also, Leftoverture is a classic. :drums: :guitar: You should try listening to some other classic rock and/or prog rock 70s classics, there's a gold mine of albums just waiting to be heard that would appeal to someone who is already a fan of Kansas. Epi and I could point you in the right direction there, as I'm sure others could as well, if you're interested.

Re: Interrogation Room

Oh hey, you're going to UK? Nice, congrats! Used to be about an hour to an hour and a half away from me, but now it's much more than that. :P Solid university though.

Has anyone asked you music questions yet? Regardless, I'm going to ask you some!

Who are some of your favorite bands/musical artists?
What are some of your favorite songs or albums?
Do you play a musical instrument?
Have you seen any concerts; if so, which one was your favorite?

Re: Interrogation Room

Hey ika, want some more music questions? :slick:

Have you seen any artist/band in concert? If so, who, and how many concerts have you attended?
If the answer to the above question is yes and you've seen 2+, what's your favorite concert you've ever attended?
Which artist/band would you like to see live that you cannot (because of a deceased member or the band is broken up)?
What are your favorite genres of music?
Do you play any musical instruments?
If not, which instrument(s) do you wish you could learn to play instantly?
