I know right? We just were talking about this the other day. Let's make it happen. :srsnod:
I'll be done with work in about a month, so anytime in June sounds good to me. :noble:
Sweet, that should work for me and Annie as well, I'll get with her once she returns from her trip next week and we can figure out a date and time.

Yeah, we were planning to once but then something came up, I can't remember what though. It was not long after Annie moved down last year.

Re: Meetups

This all sounds absolutely amazing and totally something Annie and I both would be interested in, but unfortunately my schedule is a complete bitch this year, and I can't afford literally a weekend or more of free time until likely November or later. :puppy: I have to teach 200 students this summer and it encompasses all sessions, so from May-August I'm blocked out on that front alone; in addition I'll have 2nd year paper, figuring out dissertation topic and committee, and then studying for my comprehensive exam which should be in September. I keep telling myself it's the sacrifices I have to make now, but it'll be worth it when I have the option to take summers off and only work on research once I have a job.

That said, I know that we both would be fully interested in meetups in subsequent years, and I fully support such endeavors. :D I think it'd be freaking awesome to arrange things like this on an annual basis, and I'm all for it in terms of my personal particiaption on that basis once I'm done with my schedule being a PhD program-driven butthole.

Trust me, I'd love to not have it.
It's okay. Immediately after I made fun of you, I got injured in four different ways almost simultaneously, so rest assured that karma exists.
:haha:

Instant karma.

Elohcin wrote:If you get motion sickness, don't get a room at the front of the boat. And...if a cruise is not the best option, we can always just plan to meet up at a specific hotel/beach and and hang out together for a week. I want to go here sometime soon:

I'd be fine with almost whatever!

I am skeptical of the cruise, since I get really insane motion sickness, but considering Blooper's testimony, I might be willing to try it.

I know, right? We need to make these things happen!!

Unfortunately, with my move to San Antonio in a couple of months, not sure how available I'm going to be for meetups like I was hoping, but perhaps after I've settled and have a better idea of my PhD schedule it will be easier.

That said, I have been "meeting up" with birdwithteeth, Russtifinko, Devin the Omniscient, G.O.B., etc., but none of those count because I knew them before the site. :p
