Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [GAME OVER]

Nice! I had a feeling about Daisy. Our N1 kill was down to between juliets and Daisy. I'm so glad we didn't go with Daisy. I just felt like you were communicating to me in the thread that we were on the same side. Maybe I read too much into your posts, but either way it worked.

I knew that killing 3J and allowing myself to be lynched was a risk, but I thought there was a good chance it would be worth it in the end.

That was a fun reintroduction to mafia. Sorry to juliets for putting you out of the game, and for the Mongoose mislynch day 1.

Got some crazy good gut readers out there, but if I play again (if I can find the time) I will take the lessons learned here with me, that's for sure!

I'm not shook. (Oh geez, I can barely even say that - it's so... millenial *shudders*) Questions are expected in a mafia game. I don't have anything to hide, and although I'm certain my re-entry has been clunky, I'm not bad. I didn't even find juliets' questions to be particularly memorable (no offense meant to juliets, who I do find quite memorable). I had to go back and find them to even jog my memory.

So, 2 options here:

1 - We listen to you, and start posting 3,000 x a day, thereby allowing you - an alleged man - to be in charge of us.
2 - We post however much we want, thereby not allowing you to be in charge of us, while you continue to complain.

I see what you did there. :p

Also, are the votes actually in order has this site's polling mixed it up?

I have the votes at Mac then Jay then indigo then daisy was that the correct order or did it get mixed up?
The poll order isn't the same as the chronological order. I believe the Mongoose votes went in this order: indiglo ==> Mac ==> JJJ ==> Spacedaisy
I remembered reading this while putting laundry in the dryer. You guys were talking about vote orders. As far as I know, I cast the first vote for Mongoose. I can go back and double check in the thread, but I don't know if everyone here always posts their votes. At any rate, when I decided to vote Mongoose, at the time I was unaware of any other votes for her.

Finished up my ISO of Daisy now.

I understand why some are getting scummy vibes off her, I'm just having a hard time seeing it. I have read and re-read her posts in ISO and in context until I'm crosseyed. It may be because I know her, and so that gives me a blind spot, because I know how much she's enjoying her writing projects right now and what not.

Her explanation of why she voted Mongoose is WIFOM-y, I'll agree. I also don't think mafia has the monopoly on WIFOM explanation / defenses. Ack. Hope to hear more from her before EOD. Also would like to hear more from others about her.

Speaking of EOD, I will not be here, so will likely have to have all my voting and posting done and dusted by 5:30 Eastern.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 2]

Sup y'all!?

Working on catching up, and since I have a small chunk of time, I'm doing some ISO's.

This is something that stood out to me when ISOing Mata:
Matahari wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 3:40 pm I made a list of impressions, well, I started one, when I realized that I was judging by standards from five or more years ago. Mafia tactics and individual playing styles change so I’m really out of the loop here.
These are the things I used to consider in the early days of a game:
Old standards- aggression, creating confusion, hiding
Older standards- creating questionable suspicion on someone, and having a teammate eventually second it, subtly defending an accused teammate and have another mate deflect by throwing attention elsewhere.
None of this is going to help me have a certainty about someone’s innocence or guilt. I may wind up looking at players I think are hiding, like, in plain sight. (Hiding doesn’t necessarily mean absent or being quiet)
Matahari wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 4:15 pm
JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 3:43 pm
I'd be pleased to see what you'd prepard even if you believe it to be outdated.
JJJ Mac - joking too much, throwing out accusations that can’t be taken seriously (why? Looking to make people talk?)
Rey - joking. He’s present, so must be town. (He used to not participate much if he was bad)
Nutella - caught off guard, became defensive. Also subtly defended/aligned with Luna at least twice. Looked for an out by jumping on something else quickly leading to a vote for me. ??
Mongoose Juliet’s indiglo ???
Luna Owner here but not here???

I really don’t know what I’m doing anymore, but I am wondering amost about Nutella and Luna. That’s all I have so far.

Something feels a little off to me here, almost like it's an effort to appear to be posting content, without really posting content. I don't know if she didn't expect to be asked about her list or what, but I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about this. Her previous posts explaining her thought process read as genuined, but this stuff really feels like an attempt to post content while not really saying anything.

Thoughts? From Mata or anyone?

Something about this isn't sitting right with me. I went back to see what questions you were talking about. In her last 6 posts she had no questions. In the prior post, going back 7, she asked this question:

"For the good of the group: don’t you think such unbridled frustration tends to read/skew more civ?" Time: 1:03 EST

And then going back two more posts she asked:

"Is everyone else seemingly being their typical selves playstyles?" Time: 11:31 am

Are these the "questions she was asking and the way she was asking them" that pinged you? They were not in her last few posts as you indicated. And the last question was hours ago. I find your post slightly suspicious unless I'm just not understanding what you're saying.

It was these posts that have been pinging me:
Mongoose wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:31 pm Is everyone else seemingly being their typical selves playstyles? I’ve been to AWOL to know.
This one because if she's been here regularly playing with these folks (which she has) then it's a weird question. If she had been gone for a while and this was a first game back, or first game period, I could see asking this. Otherwise it strikes me as just plain weird, and "off". Plus, she mentions being AWOL, which she later said she's been playing burglarys regularly, so... I don't understand that.

Mongoose wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 2:03 pm For the good of the group: don’t you think such unbridled frustration tends to read/skew more civ? When someone believes something about you that is so patently untrue, the frustration becomes palpable.

Mongoose wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 2:26 pm Jay - yes, regarding Nutella. It’s more or less what I was trying to posit yesterday, although I concede I did not do so artfully.
This pair struck me as odd because after asking the question, she seemed to be satisfied with only the response of 3J. Which I think is odd.

Just for the record, by aggressive, I don’t mean people who post too much. I mean people who try to build serious cases on someone on day one. They passively-aggressively start building a case against someone in the hopes of a surviving day one lynch. Even civs do this, but mafia do it more deviously. This is what I’m looking for.

I am also trying to make connections, including reverse connections. To be even more UNclear, I see connections between Nutella and Lunalee, and possibly Mongoose. Reverse connections would be you, Rey, or anyone who hasn’t connected with the ones connected. This is how my brain works in a game, although I may not always come up with the right answer.
To clarify - by reverse connections, you mean that you feel those people are NOT connected to each other?

That discredit up there where you "dislike" my Day 0 approach or whatever because it "made it harder to read other people's opinions". That looks quite fake to me.
It's quite genuine. If that is your play style, obviously you like it. But I shall attempt to explain my thought process as best I can.

When 1 player becomes the driving force of the thread, most people posting are responding to that player. What I have found helpful during your absence was seeing players (2 in particular were nutella and Mata) interact with each other. When you and nutella, for example, were having that back-and-forth, obviously nutella was getting frustrated with some of the things you were saying. It's hard for me to get a read off someone if they are genuinely frustrated. All I can see is their frustration and annoyance with the person they're going back-and-forth with.

Once I saw nutella interacting with other players (like Mata, for example), she was able to express herself differently, and I felt like I got a better look at her current playstyle, rather than her frustration with 3J. Plus, I was able to see Mata expressing herself in the discussion, which I also found helpful in forming an opinion on her.

You, obviously, are free to play how you see fit. I am free to form opinions about that playstyle when I am involved in the game as well.

Personally, I'm liking Mata's posts. No creepy vibes from her.

Wow, if this is 3J quiet... :haha:
I felt like he dominated the thread Day 0, and with all the poo flinging from him it was difficult to hear from anyone else enough to form an opinion.

indiglo took advantage of my goofy posts to make an entry joke, alleviating the pressure faced in making a first post -- more necessary for a mafioso than a civilian.
I feel no pressure, but I do enjoy joking around. Have we even met before? :p

:haha: I was thinking the same thing. We did want this to be an all ladies mafia game from the get go.

Well, that's one thing more than I know. Does that make you feel any better? :haha:
