Thanks for a completely drama free game. May the rest of my games as a mod be like my first. I really needed it to be easy right now, so I appreciated it.

That is so nice to hear. I was impressed with folks in the thread, taking the time to apologize when it seemed to get a bit heated, etc, and even with our baddie team being so kind and classy during the post game.

Bravo to each of you!

I found myself a strange NK target too, after being gone and so out of the loop. But when it happened, I was actually a bit relieved, tbh. I got a bit sick after getting back from my trip, so it was nice to just be able to rest and recuperate. However, I should have liked to have been NKed BEFORE my trip, so I didn't have to stress out about mafia while I was unable to mafia! :P :pout:

Thanks a bunch for hosting Dom! Sorry I wasn't my usual super civ self. Not knowing anything about the show, it took me a bit to get my feet under me, then I was getting ready to travel and traveling. I felt bad for not being as participatory as I normally am, but I still learned things from the game! And I also really enjoyed all the videos you posted. I think I shall check this show out! :noble:

Re: [ENDGAME] The Office Mafia

This was one of the most hilarious games to watch as a deadie. It was so obvious to me (once I got back from my trip & could pay attention to the game again, but then got killed) who the baddie team was. I was laughing hysterically when Scotty got rezzed. I could not believe it. But you know the thing about dead hindsight. It really is easier to see things when you're not in the thick of it. I'm not sure why, but it is. Plus, I knew Epi was lying about being silenced, because I never silenced him! That's one reason I was begging to come back - to call him out. :fist:

Drumbeats, I felt you were a gentleman all game, even when things went to pot. And that, to me, is the pinnacle of mafia. Bravo to you, sir.

Mata is still around, she has played here on occasion, but she is pretty selective about her games and how she feels about playing mafia at the time plays a big part. I would recommend asking her when your game comes up, she may want to play. She is best reached by Facebook.

Scotty, sorry my self-vote didn't make you happy, but with where I was (both physically and mentally) it was the best I could do. In fact, as I offered, I would have been just as happy to skip and give my vote to Meredith the following day, but then I thought once I'm back home and rested, I'll likely come up with my own suspect, so decided to keep my vote for the next day.

I will say that now I better understand meta arguments as being total crap. More than I've ever understood that before. I'm still not feeling great, but I just ate a bunch of food and slept pretty much all day, so my brain is actually starting to wake up. :workit: So let me see what I got.

Sorry, I am completely, utterly exhausted physically and mentally. I also feel like she was bringing up things that I've mentioned numerous times, so it strikes me as odd to bring them up still. Plus I am slightly frustrated not to be able to mafia the way I prefer. (But again, that's something I've already said too.)

Sorry if my responses are hostile. It is due to pure exhaustion. I will now log off, try to wash the day off, and basically pass out... before doing it all again tomorrow.

There is a vote forcer in this game, a civ. When *I* am vote forced to vote for someone I don't think, or don't know, is bad, I generally vote not unlike G Man did. No one else was going to be lynched when he voted.

This lynch actually makes LC look better to me, and Faraday and Soneji worse. But I need to read again, you don't read as well when you are a bear. Big claws, small brain.
And the link back so you can read it in context: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 75#p260075

The highlighted section is referring to voting last minute.
What are your current thoughts based on what SVS has said?

Who else do you suspect right now?
indiglo wrote:Reading that post in context, I'm gathering that G-Man waited until the last possible minute to change his vote to where it was allegedly forced, and SVS saying that is how she would vote too if she were forced. Ie, wait until the last possible minute, so as not to begin a band wagon on someone who you don't know or don't think is bad.

Again, this jibes with what I know of SVS. We came up in a culture of non-changeable votes. Therefore we have ALWAYS been the type who hold our votes to as close to the end as we can. That early vote from her pings me the most. That's what makes me think she's quite possibly bad. It is just so opposite of her normal voting behavior. Whether she's forced to vote a certain way, or not, she's not an early voter unless she absolutely has to be (like, won't be here at EoD, etc).
What are you opinions since Jo was revealed, and SVS has responded to a myriad of concerns?
Who are your top baddie reads right now?
Sorry buddy, I am out of town this weekend (Thursday-Sunday) with very limited internet time. Plus my brain is fried from working all day. I am trying to get caught up on the thread tonight at least, and will post all thoughts as I have them. But I'm not sure I'll be able to get real good Day Time thoughts until I get home and my schedule relaxes a bit. (Day Time thoughts = reads, cases, etc.) I'm still on the fence about SVS. I can see both sides of the argument, and all the round and round doesn't help my brain. It comes down to, do I believe her or not. And I'm just still not sure.

I did have another Night Time thought though. If we assume that the Eloh/Leetic double NK was related to Todd... could the civ ninja (who's name I've forgotten) have killed 3J due to his nutty gambit of claiming indy? Or was that definitely a baddie NK?

3J - strange little gambit there (the whole indy thing), I suppose that may be the last time you attempt it. :haha: RIP :rip:

Regarding the double Eloh/Leetic night death, this role may be plausible (not sure who between them would have been Todd though):

Todd Packer – Todd is volatile and if he is killed at night, he take his killer down with him. If he is lynched, he will take one of his voters down with him.

Also, I voted Ryan and Dwight in the poll. Ryan, because I felt bad that there were no votes for him, and Dwight because I like the name Dwight.

I'll try to do a bit of catching up, but don't have a ton of time tonight.

Andy was a salesperson before he became a manager. He'll replace Michael if the latter dies, so I don't think it's unlikely.
Well, remember, I've not seen an episode of this show, so I can't say what I think the deal is, or what the deal may be. Oh boy. *hands Epi a bottle of antacids*

I'm going to currently place my vote on BWT. But I will remain open minded, and open to changing if need be. One of my goals this game is to be less stubborn, and work harder at being willing to work with the group.

Scotty, enjoy your drugs! And feel better!

I'm...confused by the first part. Not sure how else to explain it.

As for the second, it didn't break the info dumping role...and your role would be one the town would miss...

I'm down to 3 possibilities in terms of your roles' ability/abilities. And 2 of them are not good for the civs.
I also found that odd.

BWT, would you be able to elaborate on this statement you made? Please and thank you. Image

This is a post of BWT's that I keep coming back to. The bolded, underlined part...

Sorry. I was exhausted last night when I was trying to explain my voting for you. Let me clarify:

1) Yes, your statement rubbed me the wrong way in terms of what you said about baddie hunting. But, combined with the fact that I felt you had done pretty much no quality baddie-hunting yourself up to that point, made that statement jump out at me even more.

2) I didn't have much else to go on at that point. Wilgy's positions seemed completely ungrounded in anything factual and was 100% suspicions. I did not think that there was anything at the time in between Matt and INH and felt it was civ on civ. Your statement was the first thing that jumped out at me on Day 1 and was the strongest ping I got.

That being said, it is still a ping that I will keep in the back of my mind as the game progresses. But that along isn't a strong enough reason to vote for you on Day 2 vs. on Day 1 unless you give me other reasons to do so going forward.

feels a bit disingenuous to me. Especially when compared to his very next post:

I know I sure as hell don't. But I like playing it anyway.
I know I definitely am not. We're less than 24 hours away from Day 2 ending, Quin's posts since after the Day 1 lynch have started to make me feel better about him, and I'm currently catching up and have zero suspicions on anyone. Although part of that may be because this is a very large game and most large games take me a bit longer to start to sink in and get more concrete ideas.

Here, he seems to admit that he has not really done much "quality baddie-hunting" in the game so far either, yet he gives himself a pass due to game size, etc.

Somehow it just seems hypocritical to suspect someone else (in a way I deemed as opportunistic) for something you yourself are doing... but you give yourself a pass for it, and not the other person. I don't know how damning any of this really is in the grand scheme, and someone (sig, maybe?) mentioned BWT getting lynched early on a regular basis. So more input, and more posts from BWT regarding these issues would be very helpful. I certainly don't want to unfairly lynch a civ early in a game before they get their feet under them... however this just doesn't sit well with me.

I'd like to feel better about my vote, but if another, better option doesn't show up, I may be leaning BWT again today.

Lol @ judging then saying it's not for you to judge. :workit:

-1 on INH
How do you know that?
I don't know why Epi asked this question. Matt's assertion was rather ordinary -- that two people (Scotty and fingersplints) shouldn't know the alignment of S~V~S yet and thus should have no reason to interfere with his methods. I don't think there's any implication here that Matt knows more than he should know, which is where Epi's question seems to lead.

Epignosis wrote:Matt is my number one suspect. He named two suspects but clung to fingersplints. I say he and Scotty are teammates.
This strikes me as a very small reason to regard Matt as the number one suspect, and there's an air of opportunism too given the crap Matt got throughout Day 1.

Why is that question strange bullz? Feep free to answer the question yourself.
All of this sounds like somebody who needed something to say coming in and saying something. Why do you think these things? What posts brought you to these conclusions? Why are you defending Matt?
This is fun in that Epignosis is accusing Wilgy of providing fake content, when Epi's post itself looks to me like fake content. Moreover, the Wilgy post being criticized looks a lot like the Epignosis post in the previous spoiler. Saying something for the sake of saying something. Taking a stance for the sake of taking a stance.

This is a soft accusation. What you are really saying is that you think insertnamehere is bad, but you couch that accusation in a conditional statement. Is this to imply that if Matt is bad, you think insertnamehere is good?

The "soft accusation" thing looks fake too. Wilgy suggested a bad INH might suggest a good Matt, which makes perfect sense given the treatment INH gave Matt on Day 1. There's no reason for this to be perceived as "soft". There's no "couching". Wilgy voiced suspicion of INH independent of Matt and then made an assertion about how a baddie flip by INH might reflect on Matt. That's reasonable.

Then all those numeral grades are just pointless. Epignosis is not the type to waste thread space on nonsense.

Epignosis wrote:I voted Mr. Pink.
Epignosis ended up supporting the Wilgy lynch. The only supporting content for this vote is in the preceding spoiler, which I've already griped about. He seemed very relaxed and content to go with the flow on this one. I get the impression given the language of his posts that he suspected Matt more than Wilgy, but he didn't bother to press the issue. I'd expect a civilian Epignosis to be a little more invested in getting his suspect lynched.

Separately from all this, I count 14 of Epi's 33 posts that add nothing to the discussion. This number can be disputed to be slightly higher or slightly lower depending upon interpretation. Regardless I see potential post count inflation.
I am not as solidly sold on this case, but I still like what you're doing and where you're going. I think I may have an inherent bias with Epi - when some of his logic and reasoning agrees with mine, I tend to correlate that to him also being civ. He posted a couple things (or at least 1, I should really do an ISO to double check) that were exactly where my head was at at that time, so it made me lean slightly civ on him.

Also, as a side point - One of the reasons I am not a huge fan of lynching low posters (especially at the beginning) is an amalgam of some points that 3J and (I think?) DB have made. In my experience, super low posters at the beginning are many time civs, and a warm civ body is still better than a warm baddie body (due to numbers). Also, there is just so little to go on, it seems worse than even 50/50 odds. At least if you look at someone with some posts you can get a read, even if you end up being wrong. Now I will also say that I do kind of think that is unfair at the same time... because if you just start lynching active players, all you're left with is the low posters, and the game comes to a crawl and you still can't figure anything out about those players... but for me the risk of lynching a low posting civ (especially at the beginning) overrides that most of the time.

I feel like I have very little in the way of reads, but as I sit here and type I find that I am developing some gut feels on quite a few players, so whether they be wrong or right, I am developing some reads. However, my PM pills have kicked in, I am exhausted and feeling super sleepy... so I'm not sure how much longer my sentences will even be coherent. But this will definitely continue to simmer in the back of my mind, and I will plan to work on some cold, quick, GTHs on the morrow.

Like I said, still struggling to find my feet and I usually work more from who do I trust backwards than who do I suspect, but I'd not seen anything weird out of them that gave me any bad feelings or anything.
With Elohcin I think I might be breaking one of my cardinal rules -- seeing a team mate relationship without any flips to facilitate it. When I look at leetic's attack on Elohcin's "fluff", it strikes me as very arbitrary and very forced, to the point that I wonder if he was overzealous in his desire to distance from Elohcin. This is something I've seen a lot of lately around here from baddies in multiple games and that might be influencing my perspective. Elohcin herself seemed concerned about this:

fluffy, non- game related stuff? What are you talking about? I don't think I've posted anything non-game related except that I would be back to vote after my show last night and even that was semi-game related. I don't know what you're talking about. Also, looking back at all your posts, you have only made ONE semi-on topic post. The rest have been "fluffy, non-game related" posts.
DrumBeats wrote:@ Leetic and Eloh - What are your current reads?
I do hope you aren't lumping me with this Leetic person by asking us both about our reads at the same time. At the moment I am most concerned with Quin for his/her "I'm a civ and you'll be sorry" post before EoD 1. As I've said before and as most people are probably tired of hearing...big games are difficult for me. I am trying to keep up, take notes, and participate as much as possible. I will have more things to say as time goes on, promise.
Otherwise, Elohcin's posts on their own power don't perturb me, but they don't inspire me either. They make me feel nothing, really. That might not sound damning, but I am getting a solid number of town vibes from this player roster right now, and that means the people not making me feel that way are inherently suspicious by process of elimination. It's not a confident matter on Day 2 with so many people alive, but it's where my head is.

I'll look over Epignosis and talk about him separately. I think I can be less vague there.

I like this. It resonates with me.

I feel like I often have trouble developing a read on Eloh in a game. I'm not sure exactly why, if it's just our minds work differently, our play styles are different, or what. But I find I often tend toward thinking she's bad, I have tried to move away from that the best I can. I still like this thing you noticed though.

insertnamehere wrote:I agree with others on Quin's vote being out of place, but I just don't see how it'd be advantageous for him to lie about that. I'm inclined to suspect that either Meredith has some secret power that we don't know about, or a different role forced him to vote SVS. Now, I agree that this role is unlikely to be a civilian one, simply because it seems bad form to have two outright vote manip roles assigned to the same team, but crazier things have occurred. Still, I'm not really sure that this says anything about SVS, because she's very unlikely to be lynched today. If Quin's vote was decided by a baddie vote manip, I could easily see them targeting one of their own in order to throw us off the scent.

So in summary, I can't really draw any conclusions whatsoever as far as anyone's alignment from Quin's vote, and this exercise was more or less pointless.

But I decided to post it anyway. Yay me.
I came to pretty much the same conclusion on (what I perceive to be) Quin's forced vote. I can wifom it 7 ways to Sunday and come up with a variety of disparate conclusions on what it says regarding alignment. So, for now, it'll have to be yet another thing to put in my back pocket for later.
