Re: Classic Super Mario Bros. [Endgame]

Oh, I was wondering how I got killed. Being the Giant King was actuallly something of a curse, as I either had to go along with the majority each time or risk being outed. It didn't help that I was awful at spotting addies this game and felt really bad when I was solely responsible for killing good people.

That happened to me too. I was winning up a storm and then suddenly started being killed off immediately in every game. Such are the whims of the Mafia Gods.

Re: Classic Super Mario Bros. [Day 4]

Gah, I'm sorry for not participating more, folks. I really haven't had the time. That being said, I have to vote and I have only vague suspicions to go on. I was planning to vote for Lizzy, but I think the baddies would have removed her name from the poll if she were one of them since she has been getting a lot of flak. Instead, I am going to vote for Roxy. I don't have a huge concrete reason for this, but she has just sounded a little off to me this game. I am also seriously considering voting MP, but I'm going to wait a day for that, I think.

So here we go: Votes Roxy and Pipe World

I am starting to feel worse about MP these days, but I also agree with Roxy about Lizzy not contributing anything. A civ who does nothing is almost as harmful to the group as a baddie, so even if we are wrong about her there will be no great loss. I'm holding onto my vote just a little bit longer, though.

I am out of town, so unable to check in as often as I would like. A couple of things:

1. RIP Snow Dog. I'm sorry I was wrong about you.

2. I am voting for Gleam, Snowy Mongoose and Elohcin, all of whom I mostly trust at this point.

3. Snowy was lynched with fewer votes than Lizzy, so either someone used an item to boost his votes, someone used an item to reduce her votes, or the King of Giant Land voted for Snowy, or a combination of the above. Interesting points to ponder.

Re: Classic Super Mario Bros. [Night 1]

@MP: I thought SVS raised some valid concerns about Nevinera's inconsistent explanation of his vote. He thinks early voting is bad, but didn't vote for the earliest voter, then when pressed says he had no real reason to vote the way he did. However, people are inconsistent a lot and it doesn't mean they are baddies. Personally, I am not convinced on Nev. I still think a baddie voting fairly early for a civ, as Nev did, would be too obvious and something the team would avoid. I still think it would be wisest to examine non-gleam voters.

Also, please don't lynch me. I am civ and I am having fun so I want to keep playing.

I intend to vote for Snow Dog based mainly on this post.
Snow Dog wrote:I don't know what a Goomba is and why their votes are zero. Must look through the roles again.
Which came after I accused Gleam of knowing too much about the baddies and for some reason struck me as insincere, like he thought he could appear civvie by pretending not to understand the baddie roles.

MovingPictures07 wrote: Also, you seriously think that NO Goomba sneaked in a vote in Gleam? If you recall, we had three baddies whose votes were worth 0 last lynch.

While I agree with your observation, you appear to be going from one extreme to the other. I disagree. I think there was one or two Goombas that voted for Gleam; the fact that you are not willing to even look at any of those voters strikes me as odd indeed, especially when he was lynched for what were really silly reasons.
Goombas votes are worth zero, so why would they bother going on record voting against someone they knew would flip civ? I know how carefully people analyze past votes and if I were bad, I would not want to be counted among those that lynched a civ if I could help it. Maybe one goomba did indeed vote for Gleam, but I think we have better odds in looking elsewhere.

I agree that SVS' pursuit of Nev is a bit much for it being so early, but I also know that that is her style, so I don't mak too much of it. I also think she makes some valid points about him, so he is someone I will have my eye on going forward.

Regarding the "excessive defensiveness" comment, I generally think it is a mistake to get one's hackles up over day one votes, when most people will collect at least one vote. It makes you stand out and look like you have been caught as a baddie. However, I know that you are an experienced enough baddie to be unlikely to respond in this way, so I am not looking at you with too much seriousness right now.

I'm happy to respond to any other concerns you have about me.

MP seems excessively defensive for some one who got votes on Day 1, when no one really has any idea what they are doing.

I will also point out that almost every game I've been in, when a civ is lynched on Day 1, people come after those that voted for the civ, and this results in a second civ being lynched. Come on, people, baddies are smarter than that. If a bandwagon is forming against a civ, they will be sure not to add their vote, content to let others do their dirty work for them. As for me, I will be looking at people who did NOT vote for I Gleamed a Gleam of Days Gone By.

Mongoose wrote: Llama - Do you think gleam's early voting is suspiciously early? I know players usually give a reason when they vote early and I'm not sure gleam did. I guess my question is: Do you think that in of itself is enough to suspect gleam of villainry?
I don't know. It's probably nothing, but on Day 1, I usually wait as long as possible to vote since there is so little to go on and I want to have maximum evidence before voting. I can't see why someone would vote early like that unless that a) were unable to vote at a later time (a claim MP made, but Gleamio did not) b) a baddie who knows who their enemies are already or c) really sure about someone and are using their vote to try to convince others to bandwagon on board. I don't see how anyone could be really sure about Vomps, so combined with my earlier points about Gleamio seeming overly familiar with baddie mechanics, I will probably put my vote there unless something changes.

I almost missed this. I know Vomps and Lizzy like to joke a lot back and forth with each other, so they might not be taking the whole "civvie vibes" thing too seriously right now. But on the other hand, I could see one or both of them using it as a cover. So to answer your question, I honestly don't know. I'd have to have more to go on.

I'm caught up, but I will need a bit more time to absorb my thoughts so far. I have a cold I'm suffering through and it doesn't help in that regard. I will be back in awhile and will vote then.
The trouble with Vomps and Lizzy is that they are impossible to read, due to their wacky playstyle. I just finished rereading a bunch of players, and I think the one I feeling least good about right now is Snow Dog. Typically a helpful and chatty fellow, he has not really posted anything of substance yet this game and I feel like he may be lying low. I have a few hours yet before I have to vote, so hopefully he pops in and says something before then.

Re: Classic Super Mario Bros. [Day 1]

This is interesting. Hedgeowl did get defensive awfully fast for Day 1. Then again, she has yet to win a game and less experienced players do often resent the possibility of being voted out so early.

I could also see this as a ploy by MP. He put out some feelers, got a reaction and pounced on it. Does he really have to vote this early, or is he trying to get a bandwagon going? A lot of people who are unsure of what to do on Day 1 will follow the first vote. It is also easy to handwave a civ lynch on Day 1 since it almost always happens, so MP might feel that he could get out of any accountability if he succeeds.

I don't know how I'm voting yet today, but I will be watching this situation very carefully. If Hedgeowl is lynched and flips civ, MP will be in the spotlight, for sure.

Re: Classic Super Mario Bros. [Warp Zone]

I know it is early, but I want to get some discussion going (SVS!) so I thought I would point out this. The baddie set up in this game is confusing. Who is likely to be less confused by it? The people who are baddies and (presumably) have more info on their roles and how they work than we do. Consider then, this post, which seems to display the most knowledge of how the baddie roles operate that we've seen so far. I'm not saying I intend to vote for Gleamy, but thought it was worth pointing out.
agleaminranks wrote: I'm looking at the roles right now, and these are my thoughts:

It seems as though the baddie team consists of Bowser and three baddie minions, who have the ability to buy their role with the coins they have. Since this is only the first day and no one really would have any money at this point, the three baddies chose the Goomba role, hence why Rob would post that the baddies today are Bowser and three Goombas. I'll bet when we see the game move on, we will see those roles change.

I'm also guessing that if the host uses this format for each day post, we'll be able to find out soon enough if a baddie is killed in a lynch or night kill turn.
