Perhaps the better way to combat the perceived info-dumping problem is for hosts to introduce things into the game to specifically neutralize the possibility. More baddie roles that can cause wrong information to seem right, variants on the Seemer role, roles that are listed as Civvie but are actually bad...

Also, it's worthwhile to point out that the baddies have a WAY better record on this site than the Civvies. The baddies win disproportionately more. So an infodumping problem isn't hurting the overall baddie win chances.

Baddies win more than civvies here because the civvies do not play. Nonparticipation significantly drops the difficulty for mafia

Lol, this game was ridic. I still cannot believe that the entire thread literally caught Made in an outright lie, yet explained it all away and didn't lynch him until many days later. I would say how proud I am about being right about him, if it were not for the fact that it was the most freaking obvious thing I've ever seen.

You said (or at least implied) that the fact that I think Made is bad means I can't see a scenario in which he is good, which is patently false, so I turned it around on your suspicion of me.

You could make the same charge of literally every player. "Eloh voted for Zeek, so she must be narrow minded and unable to imagine a scenario in which Zeek is good." Can't you see how wrong that logic is?

You think we have to entertain any speculation about secret roles as potential fact, so I gave a ridiculous one as a counter example. Maybe there is a secret role is causing me to get frustrated with this game and it's not really my fault! Anything's possible!

I must have missed what you wanted me to say about Boomslang. I thought he was bad yesterday and I still think he might be today, but not as much as I think Made is. I expect I'll be dead when I get back. What an intensely frustrating game of champs this has been.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Why can we not speculate on secret roles, Llama?

Speculation without evidence is pointless and a terrible reason to cast votes. Okay, I speculate that there is a secret role that means if you lynch me, all my voters will be killed as well. You have to entertain the possibility or else you are stifling discussion and being ridiculous!

I feel quite betrayed that she would vote for me after I let her get away with a lie that turned Roxy against me.

I note that Mongoose has voting for me, tying the score, and forcing me to do something I didn't want to do.

Earlier, it will be recalled that I recounted a private conversation of Mongoose explaining why she hadn't logged on, which rather upset Roxy. Mongoose called me a liar and said I made it up to troll her and Roxy. In fact, what I said was true, but I let it slide because I felt bad and wanted to let her save face. But since Mongoose's lie is apparently going to result in my being lynched, I think the truth should be known. I don't feel bad for her anymore since she voted for me without giving a reason.

If we accept this, we give every player an easy out from suspicion for the rest of the game. Any time from here on out that anyone says "Ah ha! So and so made a slip! He must be bad" they can come back and say "I was forced to do it. Secret role." Am I the only one who sees how dangerous this is?

It seems too convenient an explanation by half to me. I don't like making up imaginary powers and assuming they exist in the secrets rather than taking the face value explanation of the evidence we have, which is that Made is not being honest with us. I don't. If you had read the previous sentence, you would have seen that I was responding to a request from Turnip Head to outline a scenario in which it would make sense for Made to lie. That is the scenario I believe to be the case, but of course I can't prove it.

Made lied about his vote being forced more or less as an experiment, the same way INH lied about his baddie catching engine. I don't think he expected the amount of backlash he got. So far, none of this outright points to a baddie, because civs lie about this kind of stuff too. But when I called him out about Mr. Boddy being the only vote forcing role, he denied it, falling back on *secrets* which I am not buying. I think a civ would have come clean at this point. The fact that Made did not makes me think he is bad.

Roxy/SVS/MP: What's all this trumped up hoopla about me trolling Roxy or trying to get her lynched? I noticed what I perceived to be a difference in her behavior, and merely asked if anyone else had noticed it. If you don't want to have those kinds of discussions, fine, but I thought that kind of talk was the whole point of these early days. Never did I suggest that I thought Roxy was bad or intended to vote for her, and it is disingenuous of you to use this as a reason for voting for me.

So how did this role work in this other game you're referencing? I'm assuming that if Made does anything against Mr. Boddy's wishes, that Boddy would successfully blackmail him. Isn't that how it should work? I'm guessing there will be repercussions for Made, if he's telling the truth.

But Made... did I see you say that you were targeted by a role with a *secret*? Does that mean Mr. Boddy isn't responsible for your forced vote, and if that's the case, can you say who you think is responsible?

In CLue the Movie Mafia, the host would send Mr. Boddy a piece of info about the player he targeted's role (gender, features in the image such as "wearing a hat, etc." The target would then be told that he had to vote a certain way, or else this piece of info (which was not known to the target) would be posted in the thread. The host would post the info, so there was no possibility of publishing false info.

Regarding "what would Made have to gain by lying":

If he is indeed being blackmailed, he would have good reason to claim it is one of the secret roles and not Mr. Boddy, because if it is Mr. Boddy, it means he has something to hide.
If he is not being blackmailed or forced at all, I suspect he just wants to hurt the credibility of people whose votes are forced in the future. Maybe he IS Mr. Boddy, and hopes to expand his own power by not only blackmailing people, but making an example of those who refuse to be blackmailed.
