Moving on to 2 post posters we have Vomps. He has even used the ever evocative :mafia: smiley. Highly suspicious. Russti escaped my damning analysis, by posting several times and dfaraday because he is also hosting his game currently.

Clearly low posters are suspicious bunch and we should watch them all carefully.

The above should be read in sarcastic orange is case that's not clear. I don't want to vote a low poster Day 1. That seems like a lame reason with so much discussion happening. However, I also don't think they get a free pass and will reevaluate in a few days if people are still inactive. I am still waiting for WWE to finish to examine the result of my top posters hide more baddies theory.

I agree with this sentiment, that a computer would ruin the fun somewhat. However, it seems completely appropriate to use something like this in a game of champions whether it's real or faked. I personally am enjoying the dialogue immensely, although I still have several pages to catch up, so that may change. :P
juliets wrote:Hedge, how will spreading the votes help combat Bob? Maybe my brain is not awake yet.
I see others explained this, but yes it was because of his role description. I think it would be bad strategy to spread votes early in the game as he wont have any or very few minions to start. I don't know if strategically it's a good idea to spread the votes as the game progresses, but one idea to consider, because I dont know how else we would mitigate the power.

My advice to the baddies was both good advice *and* good for the civs if the baddies follow it.

The thing is, Bob and the baddies are going to be at odds very quickly, and I'd much prefer that they realize that
each other are their first threats and leave off picking on civs for a while. Otherwise, the baddies will work against the civs
for the first 5-6 days and then Bob will have critical mass and beat them all using the inside information he will by then have acquired against them,
much like I used my knowledge via Epig against his team in bioshock.

This game, unless we are very lucky, will be about Bob.
Oh man it was so much info, because Russti-Jack had just joined our team too. That happened a bit in AGods as well, since our baddie team could role check dead players and then we could relabel someone as one of those roles. (That was probably my favorite moment when Mongoose was lynched and flipped civ, but we still didnt know who she was yet.)

Ooo good word, fucknutty. I like it. "These chocolate-hazelnut balls are fucknutty-ly delicious." Ok, not quite, but will work on it.

Nev gave advice like this in another game early on as well, was that Mario? I think he was NK'd the next night. He generally gives helpful advice, but I actually see this as possibly more his civ game.

Also disappointed in DH for actually writing a whole post about beating a dead horse without once using this. :dead horse:

No actually quite the opposite. I said out loud I was going to ask for one as I started the PM and mp was all, "wait until you read my post." Then I was all, "you suck! How many plasmids did you have to give out?" And he faked like if I asked him in thread he would tell me, but he LIED! Thus his feb face when he answered. And I originally was going to say " :noble: Asshole." But I decided no one would understand. I suspect he only had one, because I did not dawdle that long. Oh the joys of living with one of the most evil hosts in the history of hosts...

Hedge, try clearing you cache or whatever, that usually does the trick for me.

INH, why not use Sockface instead of one of our current players to give us a sample. God knows he talks enough in every game he is in. ;)
It couldn't have been many because I also missed out on one and that was no more than a few minutes after the post went up. Thanks for cache advice. Will give it a try! Avis and smileys are getting all mixed up for me. Socky would be a great example! :p or anyone else not playing as DOm notes.

So that was a lot of catch-up for not much suspicions so far. Granted I feel that with so much discussion we are in a much better place to start than some Day 1s. I will have to think on it. I find INH's ideas note worthy and am definitely interested to see what "results" come from this idea tomorrow.

I think it would be helpful for those of us who have not played every game to have those who either were a role or could speak to some of the baddies/indy roles. For example Bouncer in Bioshock, do we think there is still a mechanic in the game to steal a big daddy? Because that could definitely undermine a team as many of us remember.

• Big Daddy (Bouncer) - [Bioshock] – Is mentally conditioned to protect one of his teammates under any circumstances, guarding them from harm. At the very start of the game, the team selects the player to bond to Big Daddy (Bouncer). If any character attempts to nightkill Big Daddy's target, Bouncer absorbs the kill attempt. Bouncer is harder to kill than most living creatures due to its thick armored suit; as such, it has an automatic 50% chance of surviving NKs. Starting Night 2, Bouncer targets a player of its choice with its drill, which has an 85% chance of killing its target. After using its drill, the Bouncer must take two nights to recharge its energy before another brutal attack. If Big Daddy is busy protecting on the night he is supposed to kill, he skips the night, and tries the following night instead.

This was a devious one and several of us died from this Plant in Mario. In that game with so few players it paid to pick a low number, so it would helpful to get non-players to vote as well. Granted talking about this in thread also gives an advantage to the team picking the number. I don't know how to avoid it with so many people frankly.

• Piranha Plant - [Classic Super Mario Bros.] – Secretly chooses a number every odd night. The person to vote in the subsequent Day poll that corresponds with that number is killed (Non-players and dead players can absorb this kill!).

Re: [DAY 1] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions

insertnamehere wrote:So, let me preface this by saying that I am by no means, an expert at coding. This was the first really big program that I've decided to make. It could work, it could not, I'm going to try and see.

I've created a program that goes into every poster's game history, specifically games where they were bad, and sees what their top phrases or words are. It then contrasts those with the top words or phrases from a persons post history when they were good. It then eliminates the words that were on both lists, leaving us with that person's tells. After that, it goes into this thread, and sees how many times someone uses words or phrases identified as tells. The higher that number is, the more likely chance you are to be bad. This was a bitch to make, and it's something I've worked on for a long time, a bit of a pet project if you will.

Now, of course, because of the limited sample size, the program is more likely to be incorrect these first few days, but, as more and more people post, I know more and more about their role.

To summarize, I'm the NSA now, bitches.
Wow, that's awesome and scary. Kinda like my debate club friend telling me I said, uh, um over 140 times in a short presentation. I am not sure I really want to know, because I am sure it is more repetitive than I think it is. Points for being inventive.

Ok, so went and pull Bob's role since I hadn't yet read through all the ones I don't know. This seems like an incredibly interesting and powerful role. Similar is style to Wednesday in AG it seems. So best way to combat is spread votes? Seems tricky as week and benefiting baddies. How did this role play out in twin peaks?

• Bob – [Twin Peaks] - Wow, Bob, Wow. On even nights, can possess someone. That person will join his team and they gain BTSC. Bob himself cannot kill, but his minions can, unless they are under suspicion. Bob's minions collectively can NK someone every night, unless they receive at least one vote. To win, Bob and his minions need to outnumber everyone else. Minions can still use their NP, and even have BTSC. If Bob is killed, only his minions remain.

No, I definitely did. I consider it logically obvious that all civs will have to do so today, and mostly tomorrow too.
Baddies of course have more info, but they are motivated by not sticking out rather than by not getting lynched. Which admittedly is a ver similar goal.

I think it's 'telling' that you would take issue with such an obviously true implication. Of course it doesn't tell me much, since civs and baddies are both trying to scratch suspicion out of the air right now.

I will most likely vote for somebody who votes for someone that already had votes. And I'll prefer someon who has talked some, but not *said* much! because that is the only baddie pattern this early (do t draw attention).

You guys noticed bob is on the role list, right? Is anyone else surprised by that? I'm wondering how in the world he could lose, and also how baddie teams will behave knowing that it is almost a certainty that Bob will take one of their members sooner or later.

You guys can't trust your btsc teammates, and that's bound to make you less effective.. we should keep an eye out for the infighting that event will spawn, and for people that are suddenly granted correct 'suspicions'. Oh, and you baddies should keep this in mind - if your teammate is 'distancing ' himself, it might not be for the good of the team. :-)
I didn't play twin peaks, could you or someone else explain how the mechanic of Bobs roles worked?

I don't actually find any of Nev's statements suspish, because he has said this before about Day 1 in other games. Also, I have found that knowing someone irl has actually been a disadvantage for me since I swing between trusting them completely or suspecting them greatly.

Knowing MP like I do, The poll is probably to produce maximum paranoia. Dude lives by the credo Funny or Die. Ain't nothin' funnier than a bunch of player's losing their shit over a meaningless D0 poll.

My thought is that there isn't a winning option per se. As DH said, it's either completely meaningless and just a fun way to reminisce about the past year or the options assign something to like benefits. In super meat boy, I was removed from the poll for voting a specific option for example. I dont remember if Day 0 bioshock poll conferred anything special.

However, since the poll has speed and full games, there clearly would be more voters for larger games or games where a large team may have won together vs a smaller speed game.

To be fair you were a baddie or a recruit in almost all of the games for a while there yes?
