Epignosis wrote:What were the other prizes for the labyrinth game?
1st place was an Invisibility Cloak. If it went to a Civ, it would protect against NKs. If it went to mafia (which it did - Sorsha), it could be used either as an Anti-Block (mandating her action went through even if blocked) or could protect against any night action (yogi's choice, but you had to choose when using it).
2nd place was a +1 vote.
Because there were so many winners, I didn't have a 3rd place prize.
The Chambray was mentioned in an item in the sign-up thread and also where I initially posted the game in the sign-up room, so that was the clue to mention that - it would have triggered the third and final item giveaway.
The Labyrinth Game was triggered by you all selecting the Meditation Labyrinth as a destination.
Quin wrote:I was an embarrassment in this game. I am sorry.
Please take this as a sign that for the next five or six games, you should consider believing the opposite of each and every one of my reads.
You're welcome for removing you from the lynchpoll. :P
That was probably the best thing that could have happened to us. We stumbled onto a Wilgy lynch, and Boooooosh (and/or kakow).
That and removing llama from the Day 2 lynchpoll.
Maybe I'll continue that strategy from now on. Rather then remove players I trusted, I removed players I found to be polarizing topics of discussion. That led the game in other directions, which I think proved beneficial.
Also, I had planned on removing Sockface from the poll for Day 3 so that he couldn't self-vote. :P But he subbed out of the game that night, so I removed Quin instead.
I loved how you approached removing folks. It really did help steer discussion.
JaggedJimmyJay wrote:FYI: I earned a lynch immunity on the canine carrier express. We are allowed to discuss prizes. It is active today and only today. Do not waste your votes on me. I'll be back later.
You're lying. You didn't activate the lynch immunity last night. You get more value from it by making us believe it's active now, then you activate it in the future without saying anything.
So, JJJ, were you telling the truth?
I told the turht 100% on my lynch immunity prize. I used it when I said I did. I expected SOMEONE to try and second guess me in classic WIFOM style, but people mostly just took me at my word.

It had been 2 years since I hosted last, and a lot of the Status Quo had changed around here, but I failed to update my game accordingly. This twee artifact of a game was perhaps not what you were expecting, but I hope you had a lot of fun. It was a bit tough hosting with the kind of schedule I have (having so much litigation at work), but I relished every minute and it never felt like a chore.
I have made awful mistakes every time I've hosted. It's just part of the fun!
Thank you for saying so - people spend so much time playing the game - I just wanted to do right by these folks.
juliets wrote:What were the rules on the messages Long Con could send? Did they mean anything or were they just gibberish?
He can post some if he likes - I didn't give him really clearly defined boundaries except to have fun with it and not to overtly out himself. He sent really weird messages or sometimes they just sounded cryptic. Once, he wrote it out backwards. Beautifully done!
I had a Masochistic blast watching all the dialogue about how Overalls could unstrap a strap, etc. No one ever explicitly asked me if it was narrative color or not (although Epi et al guessed), so I just sat back with Dom and our delicious popcorn.
Epi - Thanks for pointing out so politely and promptly the biggest screw up I made in the game, so I could remedy it ASAP. I really appreciated it!
JJJ - Thanks for being so cool about the aforementioned slip up!
I just left the site like I wasn't around.
I super appreciated everyone being cool little beavers about it!
You guys, I have to tell you that Long Con had the most fun mysterious messages that he would craft up to send you. I was heartbroken when he got blocked or couldn't send one or two of them (I think someone died the other time).
Dom - Thank you for being a great mod and letting me bounce ideas off of you. Logan - Thank you for relentlessly pestering me into making this game in the first place. It might be a superhero skill of yours. Epi - Thanks for pointing out so politely and promptly the biggest screw up I made in the game, so I could remedy it ASAP. I really appreciated it! JJJ - Thanks for being so cool about the aforementioned slip up! Eloh - Thanks for subbing in after you died I'm sorry your immediate suspish got you a swift exodus! Made, Blooper, Boom, Epi, Logan, etc - Thank you for being a repeat felt player! Juliets - A million times thank you for *asking* to be a replacement, and then getting gung ho immediately upon entering the game, Baddie Team - Thanks for hanging in there! Hope to see you around more, Dr Wilgy and Dragon! Scotty, JJJ, Quin - Thanks for playing my game despite not knowing me from Adam. I enjoyed interacting with you so much INH - always a pleasure. I look forward to your next mind bender and enjoyed our film-based interaction more than you know! Long Con - Looked forward to your secret message postings each night! Thanks for taking the role and running with it! Sorsha - I was pleased as punch you signed up for this. You are a master at managing a baddie team. Marmot - Last but not least my sweet Marmot! Thank you for loving this game so much that you posted in it every day!
To all my players - thank you for your endless patience.
Again - Thank you for your patience with all the mistakes I made. Coming home so tired made it really easy to make silly mistakes, but I tried to at least be consistent and keep parity between mafia and civs. Some of the mistakes I made were simply horrifying, and I hope to hone my hosting skills back up with some sort of mini game before coming back to host another side mission (which are my fave type to host).
So I was looking at the poll options. Mongoose managed to make up a new word that has the least Google search results ever: Candlrery.
So there's a story behind that -- sorta. I have this pet peeve that now everything ends in -ery. Like Cakery. There's already a word for that, it's called Bakery. Or even worse, Cupcakery. There's also a word for that, its called Bakery. So Candlery was an indictment on being overly twee with nomenclature when an existing word (Chandlery or Bakery) already covers your wares.
It's this faux affectation of whimsy and folksiness that really gets under my skin. I know that's probably rich, coming from me and all, but I just hate it. There's a Hot Doggery in town. A. Hot. Doggery. This is not a thing. This was never a thing.
Sandwichery. NO. Bad dog. WHY. How short and perfunctory is Deli? I know it's a shortening of Delicatessen, but it's so concise and tidy.
Icery for an ice cream shop (shoppe). WHY. What did I do in the 1940s to deserve this?
Steakery. Not a thing. No thanks.
Burgery. STOP. Just please. Stop.
Beanery - jury is out on this one (it's a coffee shop).
And. My all time least favorite one --- BREADERY. There is no longer a point to live when your store is called a Breadery.
Day 6: There's No P in Our OOL
"Okay, maybe slides was a bad idea. Let's chill on the lazy river," LongCon suggested.
"That's what I was suggesting the whole time," said Blooper.
"Okay, everyone grab your tubes and meet at the western entrance of the Something in Your Front Pocket Lazy River," said Epignosis.
"I love that there's a bar you can swim up to," Boomslang commented.
"Oh, look there's Sockface and SpaceDaisy on one of those tubes for two people!" Made pointed.
This is not actually Alex and Annie.
"I've always wanted to do that," said Sorsha.
The team floated for two hours, until people started getting hungry.
"Let's grab sundries from the concessions," suggested Epignosis.
"I hope they have hot dogs," said Juliets.
They walked up to the counter, and everyone ordered a hot dog. Vompatti was working concessions and gave everyone free toppings and an upgraded drink size.
Someone announced overhead that the park would be closing in 5 mins.
"We've got to get out of here before the Langoliers arrive!" fretted Ninjablooper.
Vompatti popped up. "I have four nervous horses that you can use to travel out of this day, but they can only carry two people a piece. You'll have to leave one friend to face the Langoliers alone."
"Ugh. Not again," said Scotty. "Vomps, can you hand us some straws?"
Sorsha has been lynched. She was the Jhorts.
It is now Night 6. You have 24 hours to send in your night actions and vote where we will head next.
The gang got a good night's rest after the endless day of Day 5.
"I felt like that day was going to last forever!" said Quin.
"It felt like it was over 70 hours," said INH.
"Oh guys, it wasn't really that bad," said Epignosis, always the eggplant gentleman.
"It's so hot outside," said Sorsha.
"I wish there was some way to cool off - I can't believe this meditation labyrinth doesn't have any air conditioning," said Blooper wryly.
"How about Button Your Fly water park over near Destin?" asked LongCon. "I took my kid(s) there once."
"I've seen Youtube videos of some of the slides there," said Made. "Just righteous."
I dated a boy in high school who was a lifeguard at this actual park (Big Kahunas of Destin) and I thought I was the absolute shiz
"I think there's a water park around here," mentioned Juliets.
"Ahhhh, I would love that!" said Blooper.
"My kids are gonna kill me if I go without them," said Epi.
"I'm a fan of the lazy river," said Boomslang.
"Yeah, let's get adult beverages and just hang out there for a while," said Blooper.
"That would be totally tubular," punned Sorsha.
The group traveled to the water park and put their belongings in lockers.
"I haven't seen one of these in forever," noted LongCon, plucking at the springy bracelet that held his locker key.
"Hey, is that Vomps eating a hot dog in the wave pool?" asked INH.
"Wow, it really is!" said Juliets.
Bonus points if you can find Vomps!
"Doesn't one of these slides contain a 168-foot drop?" asked Quin.
"Yeah, the Verrucht or something like that," said Made.
"I'm totally going on it," said Quin.
Everyone gathered around to watch Quin tackle the water slide. Juliets waved a pennant she picked up at the souvenir store. Boomslang munched on popcorn he bought at concessions. All were enrapt.
"Here...I.....gooooooo!" shouted Quin.
Quin's body slung off the slide and far far away.
Quin has died. It is now Day 6.
You have 24 hours to determine who tampered with the trajectory of the waterslide. Mind your buttons.
Click about 20 seconds in to see the slide that killed our friend.
juliets wrote:Mongoose, sorry about your power and your food. Beyond losing the food I feel for you trying to get ready for work in the dark with no power. Been there during the year of our hurricanes. Hope you get your power back today.
Looks like llama got the lynch unless the vote manips came into play. Hoping he's bad.
Thank you so much, Juliets! It was not a fun day. I was so afraid my phone would die in the middle of the night and then my alarm wouldn't wake me up for work, that I didn't sleep much. I just skipped breakfast and coffee this morning, which if you are used to both, is not the most fun way to spend a Monday! I also left my personal cell at home, which some people were pretty angry about!
Are these events (the item thing and the labyrinth thing) triggered by a certain role? Or is it a schedule event rather than a 'triggered' event?
Hi guys, I'm fresh home and have power. I am going to go figure out the results of the labyrinth game, finally take a hot shower, and then post a delightfully error-free host post. Then I'll need to empty my fridge and freezer and stuff, but I'll be around to answer any questions. Hopefully that sounds good?
And yes, I saw it was 70+ hours for this day period, and that is just simply inexcusable on my part. I should have probably taken my laptop to Panera, which apparently had WiFi last night (that's where all people in this part of town apparently rampaged), but I didn't. Let's get this rock and rollin' at a great pace!
Quin - The first round of items was not triggered by anything. For clarity of the record, Quin is referring to early on when I said something to the effect of "PM me and I'll give people with even ranks a prize."
Quin - The Labyrinth Game was inded triggered by something. It's probably quite obvious, but it might be too obvious.
lol these memes perfectly embody my hosting haha. I'm better after a nice Village Inn tea break and I'm going to go home and go to bed. I'll see you guys tomorrow night. Much love, my dear friends!!
lol you guys. Player list. That's a fun auto correct though.
While I'm here, we're there any other questions Ive been asked previously? I'll be here another 20 mins or so. Someone post a cat meme since i cant. o
