Is that like yogalates? I've had classes of that before where it combines both praxes - I wonder if it's similar!Elohcin wrote:Mongoose wrote:After 2 months of a crazy yoga regimen, and for about a week now, I've been at my weight goal (well one lb under the top threshold of a healthy weight for my height/frame). Congrats! I am at 20 down and 20 to go. I'm overall looking to be leaner/healthier/stronger. I know you like yoga...have you heard of Piyo with Chalene Johnson? I bet it would be something you'd like. Its a combination of Pilates, yoga, and a little bit of sweat . I like Chalene's earlier stuff. Turbo Fire is what I've been working out with.

This is a selected line from the letter of recommendation Logan wrote me (before extracting this passage):thellama73 wrote:Congratulations Alison! I know you have been wanting this for a long time and I am really happy for you.
I guess if someone has to preside over terrible, horrible, anti-freedom regulations that are ruining America, it might as well be an awesome person like you!
I would be extremely pleased to collaborate with Alison on any future projects, and in my opinion she would be a great asset to any professional organization, even one such as yours dedicated to robbing honest, hard-working Americans of their freedoms. Alison is a committed advocate of government meddling, however, so I'm sure she will fit right in.

This post was so hilarious.Hedgeowl wrote:There are so many things I like about your vacation!
Pros:
Delicious food
Visiting friends (mildly jealous)
Doctor Who shirts
Dramamine working (gives me hope I will actually be able to ride something one day instead of being the "lame" mom)
Love that you say Mongoose and James
Cons:
A non-HP fan? How is this possible? Did you try to read the first book first?
Pipe cleaner and diabetes. So sorry Allison!
(In retrospect the cat should be listed first)
I remembering hating Epcot at 7 because it was boring, but loved the regular Disney and Hollywood studios. Loved Universal when I was 16 as well. Maybe some are better for adults than kids?
Also, I want to know more about this hedge maze!
The hedge maze was a ridic. It was in the back yard of the Dali Museum. There's a Wish Tree (you put your wristband on it and make a wish) and then there's melting bench with a melting clock on it (big enough for one person only) and then this hedge "maze" that is not actually a maze as there is only ever one way to go (there's never forks or anything, just a big spiral all the way to the middle and back out). It takes about 5 mins to get to the middle, where a solitary tree welcomes you to your destination's end.
anyway, the whole backyard is called The Avant Garden, which I thought was totally apropos.
Linki - Daisy - Logan's in DC and might birth a litter of kittens if he misses out on that!

Re: Kudos To You!!
Don't forget the phone-related shenanigans at the Dali Museum and how we got lost for hours and hours in the hedgemaze, ha.
A good time was had by all.
Tacos were had at the taco bus.
And both Alex and Annie were SO awesome about me dealing with an absolute crisis that erupted while they were there -- Pipecleaner got diagnosed with diabetes and spent their entire first day with me in the hospital (he's okay) so I was just palpably stressed. I dealt with this by spontaneously bursting out into 80s dance moves? I don't even know.
They were an absolute godsend. I've been giving the cat injections twice daily and he's rallying. His condition is likely reversible. You can follow his adventures on facebook if you please (search for Pipecleaner Lamont).

Re: Kudos To You!!
I had kind of a rotten week. Nothing major went down or anything, but just getting kinda bummed about job prospects, etc. so this might seem silly but it was a big deal to me.
Well this morning in yoga, the yogini pointing me out for doing a perfect Warrior II! There's so much to think about in this pose - back leg straight, front knee bent but not to far, hands in the right position, posture in alignment, and I've found it trying for the last 13 years I've done yoga (I started roughly when I moved to college).
And today, the yoga instructor said "Look at this girl, she's doing a textbook perfect Warrior II!" I thought I was going to cry.
YES

My good news is that last Friday I had an interview for my dream job (an Associate Director position at the law school from which I graduated). It was THREE HOURS long, so that has to be good right? It was also the third interview I had for this position.
I just got a phone call earlier that I am still in the running so we shall see. It will involve some travel in the fall semester (recruitment at colleges), so I am stoked about getting to travel to see my out-of-state buddies.
