Re: Homestar Runner [Day 7]

I'm honestly surprised I wasn't killed the night after I survived the lynch. Was only a matter of time I suppose. Thanks for letting me finally join in a game for a while guys. :)

The way he's jumped among so many different suspicions, and then going from saying he thinks Borok is civ to not trusting him at all, along with his vote for gleam, seems like icing on the cake. If I still had my vote, it would probably go for Vomps today. :(
We need a bad guy to get lynched today. Specifically, I'm looking at borokkuei, vomps and SVS. While I feel the former 2 are very suspicious and may very well be bad guys, I really REALLY want to lynch Trogdor this round and I believe SVS fits the bill. I want the civilians to get a win this round, but I also want us to sleep a little better knowing a killer has been eliminated.

So had you not voted already, would you change your vote because you feel vompatti is more likely now to be trogdor than SVS or would you change it just because you feel vompatti is just more likely bad in general?
More the second one. I think SVS is more likely Trogdor and Vomps is more likely baddie. Plus I think lyncng Vomps would give us more info if he pops up bad. Although I would be happy to see either one go.
I agree with this. I agree that vomps' posts and actions don't seem very regular and that he seems to be doing a lot to really just fit in with the flow of the game, which at this point feels like a probable bad guy course of action.

However, as someone who has known vomps for a while, a lot of his posts and reasonings also do not seem very out of the ordinary. It's only when someone made the big web of connection posts dating back to earlier in the game that I really noticed that pattern. I feel like I need to put a vote his way just to confirm my suspicions, but I have that little nagging voice at the back of my head that tells me that it may be a risk too.

One thing I've noticed also: Teen Girl Squad has failed to make a night kill since the game started. A lot of people placed DP on their watch list for Trogdor, has anyone considered that perhaps his absence is the cause of Teen Girl Squad's inactivity? He's been gone more or less since day 1, and Trogdor was active up until after day 2. I feel like there's a chance he could be the cheerleader role. I know voting for him (if that is the case) would be fruitless since he would probably survive a lynch vote if I were correct, but it would also be very telling. And frankly I think he is still just as likely to be Trogdor too, and given SVS's situation I would like to give her at least one chance to defend herself. Thus, DP will be receiving my vote again.

Thus, I think the events that have panned out wouId only make sense if Trogdor were either dead already or a player who has been notoriously absent as of late. I'm still leaning a bit towards the former, but of the candidates for the latter category, DP and SVS are the prime suspects, from what I can gather. I'm going to try and go back a few days if I can spot someone else who hasn't been participating either.

In regards to what I think I saw mentioned earlier, it seems unlikely to me that some of the other players mentioned as possible candidates (I saw Alex mention vomps, which seems highly unlikely to me due to his participation level) are our serial killer in question. I don't really suspect it to be anyone here, in other words.
I think its VERY unlikely Trogdor has died yet. Let's look at the unknown deaths, shall we...:

Kate Night 1
Bullzeye killed Night 1 by Trogdor, rezzed, Night 2
borukkuei killed by Torgdor on night 2 and rezzed due to host error
Devin killed Night 3 by Blue Laser

Kate is unlikely to be Trogdor since there was some kind of trogdor activity after she died. Devin claims to have rezzed Bullzeye (which makes me wonder how true this actually is given the results of Lizzy's lynch) and if this were the case, why would he rez someone the he presumably killed if the dead trogdor theory turned out to be true. So of all the deceased players, Trogdor could really only be Devin and I don't see that as likely.
First off, I need to thank you for making this handy summarization because given how difficult it is for me to browse the forum right now, this put a lot of stuff into perspective. I think I had overestimated the number of unknown deaths and hadn't been keeping proper track.

I'm still of the conviction that Devin wasn't being entirely truthful and I still suspect that he may have been bad, but from a strictly numerical standpoint I can see now that it's unlikely he was the serial killer. I think you're probably right then, and that Trogdor is still lurking amongst the living...

Okay, for all intents and purposes I should have died there. I'm not unlynchable. Though it's painfully ironic because if Llama was indeed telling the truth about his lynch survival, seems I'm in the same boat now.

I have an inkling of why I might still be alive, but I don't think it's anything I am allowed to publicly disclose.

I've never tried to defend myself until today because I haven't had anything to hide. If anything I've been a lot more open and trying to stir discussion at fear of repercussion than I ever have in a mafia game before.

You guys have misread me so poorly, wow. I was making what I thought would be a pretty simple observation from something I honestly couldnt imagine having an alternative. Maybe I just haven't played enough mafia to know the sort of events and semantics that can totally change or misconstrue the way a role works.

Either way, I'm spending my first day off in a week with my friend who will be studying abroad next week and my brother who leaves for college tomorrow, so I won't be around for when the lynch happens. Llama, I'm still convinced you're a baddy, and the rest of you are all bandwagonning miscreants who are making a big mistake. If I'm not alive by the time I return, it's been nice actually playing past the first day of mafia for once, and I hole the rest of you can figure out who the real baddies are.

Also, I feel like I'm giving a pretty metered response to being called out so suddenly. Far bigger overreactions have happened several times prior in this game.

I also realized that maybe I could have been wrong about llama's role, I didn't really take into consideration that possibly a secret event or The Show could have totally prevented a lynch too for all I know. I would need to reconsider that, but it looks like I'm not going to have the opportunity to any further the way this day is going.

Llama, frankly, I find your insistence on forming a bandwagon for me so quickly simply because of a merely speculative perjunction (on day 1 no less, when all I was trying to do was stir a little discussion for once when no one had much of anything to go on) and simply a "gut feeling" is rather insulting. I've never voted in retaliation but this would have been the one case where I would have considered it, though you've proven that you're an unlynchable role, and in my opinion, probably a bad one at that, considering how damnably dodgy you've been playing this game and is evidenced by your vote today, so eager to shift the limelight from yourself to any other player you can attach a bullshit theory to. So voting for you today would accomplish nothing.

I've been mulling over Trogdor and I'm thinking there is a 50/50 chance he's dead. I think it would really be the only reason he hasn't killed in several nights, barring he is being played by a mostly absent player, of whom I think DP is the prime suspect. Considering he more or less accepted a lynch vote today, I will oblige him.

Then borokkuei was the victim of Trogdor the second night as well. It could be a coincidence, but I'm not inclined to believe in such things with this game. Was borokkuei maybe being targeted by Trogdor? I don't see anything in his abilities that would allow him to target a specific player like that though...

I was a bit suspicious of him on Day 1 (or about as suspicious as you can be on Day 1) but in all honesty he hasn't done a whole lot to arouse my suspicion since. I'm not sure on what suspicions he accuses Devin of being a baddie, even though I share the same sentiments. The only thing that has me raising an eyebrow was his hut vote on the first night, and even that doesn't give me much to go on, other than taking stock of which hut Trogdor targeted and his going against the grain, so to speak. He also hasn't been following Lizzy quite as stalker-ishly as he normally does in this game, which could just be simply because Lizzy hasn't been too active as of late, but part of me wonders if possibly he's in cahoots with some BTSC group, or has a role-checking ability that has allowed him to gleam Lizzy's role, which, in all honesty, if he had that sort of a role I would expect him to take that course of action pretty much immediately. I don't really have enough concrete evidence to give a more solid hunch than that, but I do also think that lynching him could be quite revealing for further courses of action. If he does end up being bad, it could be quite telling of a lot of other players' motives as well. I dunno if it's worth taking the risk to lynch him right now given that I've got much stronger suspicions of other people, but he may be getting my vote again further down the line.

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 3]

Good word, you guys keep busy.

Brevity is not my strong suite, but I don't think I could usurp Socky even if I tried. So bear with me.

Llama didn't do much to arouse my suspicion for the first few turns but now has me the most concerned, primarily regarding the daytime lynch. The result isn't terribly suspicious in and of itself, and frankly, of the roles whose abilities are made public, there are two civilians and one baddie role that are lynch-safe. The odds would actually be more in your favor in that regard. This is what really bugs me:
thellama73 wrote:I'm not an unlynchable baddie. After reading the roles I can only conclude that some kind soul stopped the lynch on my behalf. Thank you, kind soul!
Image

Dude, what?

So many things wrong with this. I cannot fathom a single reason why some other non-teammate player would take a gamble and lynch-block a random player. Highly suspish of BTSC. Not only that, but your rampant sidestepping of the issue and quick latching on to a pretty innocent observation by A Person looks incredibly diversionary. I can't fault you for voting early and butting heads with Alex given his twenty-pronged assault on your case, but the rest of this speaks pretty damningly in my eyes. I'll withhold a vote until it gets a little closer to the wire, but I can say with a fair degree of certainty that the llama will be receiving my lynch vote.

Looking at the reverse of that last point, I've never had an easy time gauging Alex in any game because his incessant walls of text and hypercritical analysis essays in these threads seem all but guaranteed regardless of his role. That being said, he seems a bit more nonplussed than usual when he's receiving just as much scrutiny as he's been doling out this game, from multiple players nonetheless. Am I reading a bit of overconfidence? I don't know what that could signify, though role security is the first thing that comes to mind. I've got nothing solid other than a fleeting intuition but it's something I'll be keeping a wandering eye upon.

Also, Devin's given me another reason to be weary of his alignment:
Devin the Omniscient wrote:I will say this, though. I wouldn't be surprised that the reason we didn't see a NK from TGS is that they tried to kill me and failed.

Now, discuss :mafia:
Devin the Omniscient wrote:
Matahari wrote:
A Person wrote:Either way, I missed the deadline and didn't send in a PM and am still alive.
Devin, a person missed a pm, do you know for certain that you were targeted last night for a kill?
Nope. Just a hunch. I was unaware of any missing PMs.
This sounds hella revealing to me. I find it weird that you'd come to this conclusion on merely a hunch, even in light of your favor among the lynch votes the day prior. I'm looking at the roles and barring any possible hidden abilities, I see three roles with nightkill prevention or blocking abilities: one on the civilian team, one on Blue Laser, and one in Teen Girl Squad. Strictly mathematically speaking, those odds aren't in your favor.

Also, quick turnaround vote for you as well. You make a good point that lynching Vomps would indeed be very telling of alignments and that's something I may try to exploit soon, but I don't know what to make of your vote other than simple retaliation. I'm inclined to believe it was just sloppy behavior.

Cool, now I'm up way later than I had planned. Damn this damnable game.

I'm really not inclined to believe Matt F's baddie team theory, as I feel that juliets has a pretty proper response and I'm not really seeing the merit in the arguments against Llama. What he did point out regarding Dom does have me raising an eyebrow, so I'll be rereading and investigating some posts further.

I feel like both Matt F and Devin's big posts are very diversionary, meant to throw out wild theories to divert attention left or right of center. Matt's is at least well arranged, even if I don't buy it, so I'm more inclined to label Devin with the baddie tag. He will thus be getting my vote today, though Matt's in my spotter scope as well.

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 1]

Sincerest condolences, Alex. Thoughts and best wishes to your family.

You guys put up one hell of a discussion. I spent half my afternoon trying to catch up.

I would like to have more time to stir on this, but I leave for third shift tonight and have to be up early tomorrow for family matters and won't have another opportunity to vote.

What most concerns me is the behind-the-scenes information regarding the first poll. Frankly, given the small number of allegiances, I find it unlikely that there would have been anyone who would not have received some sort of information regarding a possible additional result from the Day 1 poll, either beneficial or detrimental, as some people have indicated. I myself also received information on a certain location. It feels to me like the small number of locales available would have to have some sort of impact on every faction involved.

I'm of the suspicion that Alex received background information, and had a similar deduction to this, putting out feelers just to see who responded and who didn't with that sort of information. Anyone who answered truthfully given my suspicions are correct don't really raise any red flags in my eye, as all that confirms for me is that they are indeed possibly good or bad. Anonymous as they started out. I'm more suspicious of the people who claimed to have no background information whatsoever, for the reasons I've mentioned above. Hence, I must cast an early vote for the one I noticed being most adamant about their ignorance: Vomps.
