Re: Transistor [Day 4]

You guys are so wrong about me and you're gonna be disappointed when I flip, but it looks like at this point there's nothing I can say to convince you. I've tried to defend about each point multiple times but apparently all my posts read as bad now, which I can't really help because I haven't had a lot of time to put into this game and so all my posts have been kinda rushed. I'm really sorry I couldn't help more and haven't gotten to use my role to its full potential.

Unfortunately I am travelling all day today and will not be around for the rest of the day period so I won't really be able to defend myself further, but it's looking like a foregone conclusion at this point. All I can say is everything I've said has been genuine, I really regret changing my mind on Elo but that's just how it goes sometimes. Since I won't be around I should vote now and I'll vote for llama I guess, I think it's fairly likely he's bad and he jumped pretty eagerly on this train against me, along with Macdougall who I would also peg as bad. I still suspect DF as well. I think those three, perhaps in that order, should be the next lynch candidates. Good luck civs

Re: Transistor [Day 4]

DF, my suspicion of you is partially due to your significantly greater volume of posting than usual, but is really mostly gut feeling, as have been most of my suspicions in this game. I know that I have not looked great and maybe I should back off from my mostly-gut-read suspicions since I was wrong about Nero, but I swear I have only been genuine in my opinions. I just sometimes get really strong gut suspicions of people that I can't really justify when people push me for detailed explanations, but they are strong enough to get my attention and vote especially when there aren't any more compelling reasons to vote for someone.

Niju, if there are any particular responses you want for me, ask away, I really would like to convince you that I'm not bad. As soon as I saw the flip on Elo I knew I would be a lynch candidate soon but I really just made a bad call in giving her a second chance and going with my gut. And I wouldn't be surprised if the people who jump on the weak and opportunistic "nutella is Elo's teammate" theory are Elo's actual teammates. I don't want to waste a lynch and I have probably one of the most powerful civ roles in the game so I hope you can see that I have really just been unfortunately making innocent mistakes so far.

Re: Transistor [Day 4]

DF, thinking you were Nero's teammate was not at all my original reason. I had been separately suspicious of you already, and said as much, and then K4J asked me how I could reconcile suspecting both you and Nero given your suspicion of him, and I explained that I believed you could both be teammates, but my suspicion of you still stands after Nero's flip because it was not solely based on that.

I do have to say that I am a bit concerned with this straight-away vote. Even with your previous suspicion of Nero, I would think that with only 3 players on the poll, a civ would want to be more cautious.

Question for Epi...if there were no votes cast at all, would that mean no one would be lynched or would it have been randomized?

For one thing, when I voted, the poll end time was set to Sunday evening (24 hours), I'm pretty sure. I guess that was an error that Epi fixed. Still, with only three choices I'm pretty confident voting the one who is already my top suspect over two players I think are likely town.

So, what do you make of DF suspicion of Nero? Do you think they're teammates? I don't recall a lot of opinions from DF (if I missed something, please let me know)...so I would be inclined to believe that the few suspicions that DF does share, if he were bad, wouldn't be a teammate. Especially considering Nero was not really under fire.
I do actually think DF and Nero could be teammates. DF already seems to be participating more than he usually does (usually barely at all), and I guess I see your point that his few contributions must be legit but I could also see him cleverly fabricating a suspicion on a teammate that might not have seemed likely to go anywhere. His "case"/comment on Nero was pretty weak and he ends up classifying it as a "mild baddie" read, not a very committed suspicion, and misses the vote anyway. And now he says he's rethinking the suspicion in light of Elo's flip. Idk, it might be a stretch but I could see it.

DF, why do you think you need to reconsider your suspicion of Nero based on the result?

Idk man I was just expressing my reaction to their posts and found them suspicious. After Drum explained what he meant a bit more clearly I don't really suspect him as much, but I've been finding Elo to be more suspicious and it looks like she was sort of evasive yesterday so I will be looking at her today. When you get the chance, I'm intrigued to hear more detail about why you inevitably went with Nero over Elo (and Illy and Llama).
I've just gotten a really strong baddie vibe from Nero's posts recently. I think at least some of it was when he complained about never winning, and some of it was his decision to vote for young lady, but it's a gut read that goes beyond those concrete things. By the time Elo posted her reply to Matt after I said I'd give her a chance to come in before voting, I realized that my gut read on Nero felt stronger, and I looked back over Elo's posts and began to doubt myself as I read her as more genuine/getting trapped by indefensible attacks. I guess she fooled me with her emotional appeal, next time I won't second-guess myself :/

Re: Transistor [Day 2]

Drum, you're coming to all sorts of false conclusions about me. I've only been honest here. I didn't fully understand the plan at first because I was sort of skimming and might have missed the clearer explanation of it, I just knew that you proposed making a deal with the mafia and trusting them to help us. Those aspects of the plan are suspicious regardless of the actual plan. I don't think that we can trust them. I don't think that we can expect the mafia to target process elements instead of using their NKs on us, and they've already said as much by killing sig. The mechanic of targeting elements of the process, whether via NK or lynch, seems silly to me since the Process is just one player who could happen to be NKed or lynched just like anyone else. Maybe if the mafia do end up targeting an element I could get on board with lynching one the next day, but I don't really think it's going to happen. The mafia find it more valuable to use their NKs normally, and I find it more valuable to use our lynches normally.

It just seems like a waste of lynch opportunities to me -- perhaps it would weaken the Process but at the cost of keeping the mafia alive.
Gotcha, thanks for the answer of there was no malicious intent possible. It was an opportunistic suspicion that you thought you could bank on without actually having a base for it.

Current "vote": Nutella

Fabricating a scumread for malicious intent that you cannot back up or provide makes the read feel forced and opportunistic.
What are you talking about? Of course there could be malicious intent in steering the lynches away from the mafia. I said that it would be dangerous, and it was a reasonable at the time to think you might have intentions of keeping the mafia alive. And it still could be, but again I don't really suspect you as much anymore; that doesn't mean my original suspicion was unfounded or opportunistic. It may have been exaggerated by a misunderstanding of your plan but it was still legitimate and can still apply to the clarified plan.

Re: Transistor [Day 1]

OK, I'm back from graduating!! :D and caught up.

Zebra, I have no idea how you got so confused but it's pretty weird that you voted without even looking at the poll time.

Matt's inexplicable naming of Niju as the Process is perplexing and his refusal to explain it is even more so. Matt tends to be zany but I'm keeping an eye on him for this strange behavior.

I think that Drum's alliance proposition is probably a terrible idea and might have nefarious motivations. The Process is just one role/player, so even with its many powers it probably won't be impossible to get rid of, while the Camerata team is a significant threat and more in number for us to take down. I find Drum quite suspicious for the proposal and I also find Elo suspicious for expressing interest in it and then sort of covering her tracks -- although I believe that she wasn't outright agreeing to the plan in the first place but considering it as an option, but it's still kind of surprising that she jumped on it without acknowledging its suspicious nature.

There's still a whole day but it's looking likely I'll want to vote for either Drum or Elo.

linki @ Drum: huh, I don't really understand, you think the mafia can target specific elements? if they can, will we be told a process element has been eliminated? :shrug2: This all seems pretty speculative, and regardless I largely agree with niju that any degree of alliance/trusting the mafia is too risky especially in such a small game.

Oh, I could have explained the process better as well. Basically they're a bunch of robots, and each type of robot does a different thing. Cheerleaders put a protective shield in front of another robot as you're trying to kill them, so that makes sense with the ability revealed. I agree that probably the Process role gets to choose between these abilities. I don't remember what all of them do but they're probably on that wiki.

Re: Transistor [Night 0]

Well luckily there's a transistor wiki so I don't have to attempt to describe what all of the functions do. I'll try to provide some background though.

So, the Transistor. It's a weird sword-ish kinda thing imbued with power and possessed by Red's lover who was killed with it. Throughout the game you gain each of the Functions one by one and can use them to fight off the Process, which are basically a bunch of robots taking over the city.

Now, when you choose which Functions to use, they can each actually do three separate things depending on which type of slot you put them in. The types of slots are Active, Upgrade, and Passive (you don't start off with all the slots, but you unlock them throughout the game so you eventually have 4 Active slots that each have 2 upgrade slots, once you have enough Functions to fill them).

The Active slot is the Function's main ability (and I'm guessing the most relevant to this game). When you put functions in active slots you are choosing them as your main combat abilities. You can Upgrade them with other functions, which will add some effect to the active function. Passive slot functions have an effect that occurs throughout combat.

Here's a wiki page that lists what each of the Functions do in each slot, that might help since I'm bad at explaining things. Again I think the Active slot ability is probably most relevant to the role abilities in this game, but it's possible Epi has planned some crazy shit based on the Upgrade interactions. A lot of the fun of playing Transistor is finding the most effective combinations of active functions and upgrade slot effects.

Turn( ) is a little different. This is an ability that you have throughout the game to temporarily stop time and plan which few functions to use next. Could definitely be an interesting concept in translation to a mafia game.

Epi also mentioned Kill( ) which IIRC is something you get rarely in some special case with a certain passive function, and it gives you an exceptionally strong attack.

Otherwise the functions are all listed on that page, so I encourage taking a look at their effects. I hope this helps!

Re: Transistor [Night 0]

hello game!

Am I the only player here who's played Transistor? You all should play it, it's a really really cool game with beautiful music and art. I'm not a huge gamer but it's probably my favorite. It's available on steam for both pc and mac and only takes about 8-10 hours of total play time to get through. I really strongly recommend it. But for now I guess I'll have to use my knowledge to try to help figure out what the roles do. I can maybe try to summarize what each of the Functions do in the game (then again, the way you learn them gradually in game is so cool and I hate to spoil them for people :( ) but I can't be sure how Epi has translated them to mafia role abilities.

As for the night zero poll, ugh all of the forms of the Process are so annoying :p I don't remember exactly what all of them do, but probably Cells or Weeds are some of the least annoying/least difficult to fight so I might go with one of those.
