The Syndicate

At about 11 pm last night a policeman showed up banging on our door and shining a flashlight into our house. We let him in and he said they had received a 911 call from our number. A couple hours earlier we had heard the phone start to ring for a second and then stop, but otherwise we had no idea why they got the call. We figured it was just the phone doing something weird (there had been a big storm earlier yesterday, so who knows). But the policeman had to come in and check around our house and make a big deal of everything. It was weird
