I think Dom is bad, he voted for Canuck. He's most likely the target of my pursuits tomorrow, as I think there's enough there to at least start the conversation about his baddieness.

AP's vote for you (LC) came hot off the heels of your vote for him, which stands out to me, but I don't see the baddie motivations for his vote yet. The only player he could have been saving with his vote is Canuck, and I don't think that's likely.

Made's vote also surprised me, as he appears to have voted a player he trusts in a reverse psychology gambit. The only player Made could have been saving with his vote was LC, and I don't think LC is bad, so this doesn't explain Made's vote to me. I plan to look into this some more.

I think the baddies voted wherever they felt like it, much like the civvies did too. I don't see any big save attempts with the votes, so it's possible none of the baddies felt threatened yesterday.

couple of thoughts on LC's list:

Interesting indeed that Made1 never used his pardons. But aren't they night powers (so basically player protects)? And also, would have been able to pardon himself?
Pardons aren't night powers. Someone with a pardon waits until the lynch is over (or almost over but you can see how it will end) and activates their power at that time to stop the lynch from going through. Some lynch pardoners cannot pardon themselves, but that is rare, and I have never seen that be the case unless it is stated in the role description.
Welles is dead if you ask me and last night's poll is revealing of that. But I don't knos if I can say more, is talking about who we think the dead were or who we think the alive aren't still hinting?
Talking about who we think dead players were and who we think living players are is not role hinting or info dropping unless you have info somehow, and even then you can still talk all you like about it, and theorize on who was who... you just can't make it obvious that it's anything more than a theory.

At least I strongly believe that's still how Mafia works. If anyone feels differently, then I'm all ears.
A possible total of five badddies, yet ideally two each team. I don't get this math.
Maybe I'm too generous with the "ideally". Five baddies possible, ideally there's only one baddie left in the game.

We haven't seen evidence that a baddie team is gone, so the next most ideal situation is one baddie left on each team.

Realistically, I think we can assume that ONE night kill has been the killing of a baddie by the other baddies. I think that's likely enough to assume.

The way I meant my original "ideally" that you question, is that, going with the "4 baddies left" theory, having 2 on each team is ideal, because then neither team is controlling things... there is still plenty of opportunity for baddies to lynch other baddies. If the teams are 3 and 1, then the team of three is very powerful with thread influence, and it's a lot less likely that we will be able to lynch one of them without Civvies standing together and agreeing on the right person.

Cause yeah... that last lynch was a complete amateur hour full of fuckballery! :meany: Spreading out the votes like that is the best possible way to guarantee a baddie win. You can count on that. We must not do that again.

So, Made as a baddie... he could have voted AP and given Canuck the ability to lynch AP, but he didn't. If he believed Canuck and I are both Civ, then the lynch was already cool whether it was two or three necks on the line. I'm assuming that since no one mentioned it, no one active at the end remembered Mongoose's tied-lynch ruling. SO, he didn't want to see AP in the mix for this lynch.

Re: [Night 9]: Film Directors.

Civilians

Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse Director: Has BTSC with Tarantino.
Quentin Tarantino Grindhouse Director: Has BTSC with Rodriguez.

David Lean Director of epics, he knows the value of taking one's time during shoots. Steady wins the race. 2 lynch pardons.

George Cukor American Director of Classic Comedies. Can target a player to reference a romantic comedy in each post they make.

Howard Hawks Classic Hollywood Director. A silent era director that fully embraced and utilized sound, he can be flexible. May adopt a player's power at night.

Jean Luc Godard New Wave Director: Can send one message every day period to protege Truffaut.

François Truffaut New Wave Director: Can send one message every night period to mentor Godard.

Busby Berkeley Glitzy movie director and cinematographer: Can distract another player with glam and gold. Role blocker.

Sergei Eisenstein Soviet Film Director and Godfather of Montage. Can post a recap each day.

Fritz Lang German-Austrian Expressionist: Can creatively post his thoughts every night.

Darren Aronofsky Another auteur who can find BTSC with David Lean using math, a common theme in his films.

Pedro Almodovar With passion and desire being two of the prevalent themes of this acclaimed Spanish director, he may cause 2 players to miss the vote due to the manifestation of their carnal desires.

Stanley Kubrick Realist, perfectionist director and genre hopper. He can once reshoot a day period.

Cecil B Demille Known for his flamboyant showmanship, he also successfully made the transition from silent to sound. Each night he searches for Howard Hawks. If he finds him, they gain BTSC.

Orson Welles Excess and the demise of Don Quixote left the former prodigy weak. However, in his early days, he is stronger. For the first 5 votes, his vote will count as 2. And 0 thereafter.

John Waters Transgressive and ecclectic cult film director who often features Baltimore in his films. He can send The Baltimore FootStomper out after a player each night. That player will be muted during the day period and blocked during the night period.

Ingmar Bergman Evocative Swedish film director who often had religion as a theme in his films. May grant amnesty to a player 3x, which will result in his/her removal from the lynch that day.

Mafia - The Brotherhood (BTSC). Odd Night Kill.

Coen Bros. Jewish brothers who often use the same actors in their films. Can call upon the Golem to protect a player.

Duplass Bros. Mumblecore creators. Inspired by Cassavetes, their super-realism shows the nuances of every day life.

Wachowskis. Siblings known for their multi-part storytelling.

Mafia - The Hacks (BTSC). Even Night Kill.

Michael Bay Known for explosions over plot, this director, can distract civs and turn their minds off (role block).

Uwe Boll Known for video game adaptations, he can twice lock the thread when his work gets criticized.

Roland Emmerich Natural disaster movie guru, his over the top films do not garner much critical acclaim.

How did Made 1.0 (David Lean) not pardon his own lynch?

So, 6 unknown players dead, and I feel like George Cukor must be dead because no one has been referencing Romantic Comedies.

If Bubsy Berkeley is alive, then the role-blocking ability is pretty awesome to have. Block the right person now, and you have caught a precious baddie.

Eisenstein posted Day 8 but not Day 9, but I believe that he is alive. We will see if there's a Day 10 post from him.

Fritz Lang definitely is, since there was a message posted very recently.

Cecil B Demille could be alive. I'd say, randomly... not alive.

Orson Welles... his vote would be worth zero by now. Could be alive.

And then there's five baddies. One Protects, and one Blocks. We haven't seen any of that action, have we? So maybe there's a dead one or two.

Nine players alive... four baddies, five Civvies? Ideally, two baddies on each team, if that's the case.

.... just wanted to get an idea of where we stand.

I did suspect DF of framing me up, and I'm sure the baddies that actually did the framing were very happy to see DF's comments and my reaction. I recall there were additional DF = baddie arguments made during the subsequent time between my accusation and his lynch, and because I could let go of my idea, I was happy to see their POV on him and agree he was bad. Maybe some of those people who took supporting roles in the DF lynch are baddies, looking to bolster the frame-up fallout situation.

I suspect Dom like I suspect most of the surviving players. I have no real reason to NOT suspect him, but it's very difficult.

Canuck "defending" MM makes sense if she's a baddie not on his team. She might have assumed that he was Civ because he's not baddie with her, and thus it would be a good go-to position on him, especially when a few others were gunning hard for him. Roll the dice and hope he's Civ, knowing that it's somewhat likely he is.

Re: [Day 9]: Film Directors.

TH, we have not done well this game. We've only lynched one baddie, and it's Day 9. How many are left, like 8 or 9 players? Surely the baddies have accidentally killed each other at some point, but it's really hard to know. A lot of the prevailing suspicions have ended up wrong, except for Metalmarsh. Canuck defended Metalmarsh quite a bit, so take that however you like. We need to know what the baddies have been doing to be at this point in the game in such a good position.

Metalmarsh was Uwe Boll, who locks the thread. He did do a couple of times, including during his own lynch when he was up 5 votes to 3 over DF.

Roxy was not above suspicion, so neither are you... she was a big suspect, actually.

TH, why don't you play devil's advocate for us, and go through Roxy's posts to make a case that she was a baddie? :eye: I think it's the best way for you to join the game. Make a good case, and then, if you can, make a better case for someone else. Maybe me, if you like.

Interesting.
It's one way to look at things. I'm just brainstorming about what might be "going on" in this game. The baddies have been very successful in shaping a lot of Civvie lynches. I think it's possible that they sat back and let us lynch each other, rather than taking an active hand in the lynches.

Plus, low posters are easier to summarize, and I'm a busy guy. 10:15am, that was just before I went and spent an hour filling buckets with water and carrying them to horses because the barn tap is frozen. Reading back it is obvious to me now that few of the civilian lynches so far have been accidents. There is a malicious group of individuals functioning behind the scenes controlling and manipulating the votes, and when you examine the pattern there is little to no doubt as to who they are. Pay particular attention to what happened on days 5 and 6 and the night between and you shall discover the truth.
._. rip
Alright so (based on votes anyways) Fritz thinks it SVS and Roxy. Thoughts?
What is it that happened days 5-6?

Re: [Night 8]: Film Directors.

I voted for Foxcatcher, because I haven't seen any of these movies, and catching foxes sounds cool, because foxes are cool.

Sorry DF, the baddies' trick worked like a charm on this sucker. :disappoint:

If Mongoose won't exclude Spacedaisy' vote from the tally (I'm sure she will, though), then it'd be best not to add another one to it, methinks. But confirmation is needed on that from Mongoose first.
I think that allowing Spacedaisy to vote even though Vomp2.0 has taken over adds to the kind of natural transition that a replacement should have. We're not supposed to be getting a new player with totally different ideas, but it happens. Ideally, Spacedaisy would provide Vomp with notes on her suspicions and views, which Vomp could use as a starting point for true replacement.
Well, I wasn't particularly sure what the habit is, in case of replacements. If it's advisable for the old player to put in one last vote instead of the new player having to give his input right away, then it's fine. I rather meant Vomps shouldn't add a second vote for DF, theoretically in the same slot with Spacedaisy, if Mongoose will count Spacedaisy's vote.

There is, however, the issue that her vote on DF is pretty unaccounted for. Like, at all.
Not sure what's advisable, just thought I'd give my own two cents: that it's better to change/disrupt the game as little as possible when a replacement needs to happen.

I looked up all three directors, and while Paul WS Anderson's large volume of movies were quite a bit of action-pulp, they are movies that I have seen and been engaged with on some shallow level. I like zombies, I like Aliens and Predators, I like Musketeers, Event Horizon was scarier to me than most horror movies.
