I can't believe you survived that entire game after my pre-mortem announcement. Truly boggles my mind. I'm pretty used to no one really listening to me, but this situation was a different perspective on the old trope.

As a host, I always love all my roles too much. I want to see each of them flourish and reach their full potential, and increasing the number of kill per night just cuts short more beautiful lives. My role-children are more important to me than ensuring a quick game. I understand some prefer a fast game. That's why I make Jobs, not Heists.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 4

Well, looks like Juliet's role checked me, hope you kill stealing Isis bitches do the right thing and kill her, or DDL, or look back and see who Juliets confirmed Civ... sig? Sloonei? I don't know. Look at her posts, it's not hard to see.

But before I die, please let's admit that her case against me was empty. That's me every game. I even made a disclaimer in the sign up thread before this game even started or the roles were out, saying please don't alignment read me for that kind of thing.

I understand that she wanted to maintain subtlety about her role checking power, so she needed to make a case, and my game was pretty tight, so the case she ended up making was weak. I said in my btsc right away that oh darn she's got a role check. I recognize the signs pretty clearly.

Juliets , I chose you night one because you're my favorite.

Sorry I wasn't around much today, it's the first of four days of a food truck event for my wife and I, so I've been serving up fried goodies all day at a fair. It is somewhat proper for me to die now, because the next three days would be very similar.

And who knows, you might see me again sooner than you think. ;)

After a bunch of non-stop thread sniping and bickering, it turns out we were potential civvie BTSC partners. (Weeeell, that wasn't the whole story. He was actually an undercover LMS indie. That game really fucked me over.)

Nevertheless, I'm currently reading both Dunya and Golden as town.

Dunno. I utterly suck at early-game read divination, so I plan on following people I think seem like gen-u-ine townies. I've been getting good vibes from you, JJJ, and Dys. Someone not checking their role PM before posting would draw my ire if it was anyone other than Scotty.
Evil INH has shown a willingness to hand out easy civilian reads to highly active players in the earliest stages -- something I don't recall seeing much of from his civilian self.
Eh, it varies from game to game. Certain things pique my townie-meter, and certain things don't. As you said, I didn't townread anyone early on in the GOC. However, I was more or less present for the entirety of that game, while I was AWOL for a large chunk of Ass Class, and the townreads were a way of deflecting possible attention.

TBH, I feel like the inability to really townread people is a weakness of my civ game, so I'm trying to shake things up a little.

In the spirit of that, here are some people who seem alright to me:
Wolbre
Nutella
Turnip
Daisy
INH has been AWOL for a large chunk of this game, so those townreads are a way of deflecting possible attention.

New rainbow:

Long Con
Epignosis (Charlie Blackmon)
dunya
Turnip Head
colonialbob
Kites
lapluie
Sloonei
speedchuck
Dragon D. Luffy
ColinIsCool
motel room
Scotty
Lunalee
insertnamehere
Zephyrus
Colin I have been back and forth on, sometimes he seems very Civ, and other times he doesn't. It raised my eyebrow a bit when Daisy was interrogating him about what he said about roles and alignments, and instead of answering her questions, he deflected to me "Long Con believed it too!" or something. Zephyrus was pretty adamant that Colin was bad as well, and made some posts that you should read while you're considering Colin. Sex Cryptid or not, I think he was genuinely baddie hunting.

The Lunalee suspicion is mostly gut I guess. I didn't like the results of her eager nova evaluation, because all it did was point at people who were Civ, or at least people who were not Al-Pieda. (Oh shit you're right... I've been saying Al Pee-ay-da in my mind and just realized it's about Pie and rhyming)

I think that looks pretty good on Luna to not be on nova's team in some regards, although it's a little like leftover player salad.

I felt their argument was more semantic than substantive, and Golden's accusations that Colin was misrepresenting him fell flat with me.

I have no issue with Colin to this point.

What are your own reads on both?
Overall, I like both of them so far. Golden more than Coling, though. Townies that are calling out what they see and aren't scared of being wrong. I don't enjoy much the mechanical aspect of solving the game since it's very NAI for me, but they seem to be taking it to heart.

One thing about Colin, though. I'm not following Colin's attempt to enter the interaction between Dunya and Golden. I didn't like that and it felt out of place. It was also as non-committal as it can be, because he admitted not having followed it entirely. So he didn't know the origin of their disagreement and thus whole conversation.

Golden narrative that about Dunya trying to control the flow of the game, and not letting other vocal townies lead, rubbed me wrong tbh tbf. I didn't get that from her posts and he might have been doing what he accused her of.

oh well. it's not meant to be.
hey we all know what happened in fire emblem. you really can't make that argument anymore :suspish: :suspish: :suspish:
2. nutella has a tendency when scum to observe the thread and when things get lit (esp between 2 civs), she'll chip in. she did this in FE and I was scum with her for whatever duration I played and observed her till end game. it's a strategy and it strangely works, because in the heat of an argument, most people don't pay attention to you, but the quips you make add fuel to the fire. see above. she didn't want me to end the argument and added her fuel by reminding Jay how I flew under his radar in FE. she's basically provoking him into reading me as possible scum without actually saying it. calculated and scheming.
nutella wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 2:39 pm maybe jay and dunya are both scum, who knows?? meta is twisted yo
3. scum nutella also has a tendency to not harp on one person and have no definite reads on them. civ nutella is organically paranoid, with a healthy dose of tinfoil. scum nutella tries to find posts that wouldn't be deemed scummy if she looks into them and also scum reads them. she doesn't build cases of her own accord on someone with no suspicion. she would love to see a high poster like me, Jay or Sloonei or Golden (if he's not on her team), to get lynched early on. see above. she also adds little quips like "yo" "ayy" and similar when she is scum and trying to downplay something.
nutella wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 5:09 pm Hmm after some thinking/thread development I'm more inclined to think dunya is town and JJJ less so. Still subject to change though. :ponder:
4. fake. she didn't think about shit. how did dunya come off as town and jay looked less town than me? it's all mumble mumble words. she probably decided N1 to kill me if I'm not lynched so what better way to do that when she town reads me.

5. she over uses the :ponder: smiley when she's scum. FE was fulllllll of that shit. I can't unsee it. I'm looking straight into a scum nutella's eyes.

6. I realize that outlining these things will probably make it harder for me to catch a scum nutella in the future, but that's aight.

hahaha. and something else that's funny, cos you only have 10 posts yet, but you also did another little scumtell here within those 10 posts that you were guilty of in The Search for Quin and FE. :eye: you're a rotten egg.
sorry what? whatever you're seeing, I'm not scum
7. a little while later nutella calls me scummy. she town read me before, she is apologizing to me here, and a little while later, she is seeing scum dunya which she only saw for 1 phase in FE. she also used the shrug emoji, to appear totally clueless, but it's as fake as her little "hmmmm i think dunya is town and jay isn't" from before.
nutella wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 8:47 pm
JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 8:10 pm I am entertaining dunya and Golden as being on opposing mafia teams.
I believe Golden is probably town. He is confident enough that his role only makes sense as town that it probably is, even though it was confirmed randomized -- since it came up town he can't imagine it as a scum role. He could be faking but that's not the Golden we know, you know?
8. JaggedJimmyJay is supposed to be a less of a town read for nutella than me at this point, yet she engages him just fine about Golden. She doesn't mention me at all. she wants to be in Golden's good shoes. another scum tell for nutella is that she tries to buddy by using TMI. she knows Golden isn't on her mafia team (hey, he could still be on the second one, I ain't clearing Golden that easily), so she tells him exactly when she thinks he'd like to hear. Golden is being reasonable, she's parroting what was already said. and if Golden thinks I project emotion and try to manipulate him, how about that ending there "he could be faking it, but that's not the Golden we know, you know?" ---- I almost shed a tear.
nutella wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 8:59 pm
JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 8:25 pm A tendency I noticed in dunya's play both in Fire Emblem and Ancient Greece was to speak in absolute terms how a game is constructed (whether its roles or its mechanics) beyond the knowledge a civilian can have or the confidence a civilian should have. Indeed, she was critical of others who considered theories beyond the obvious truth she promoted -- one born of her unique knowledge given her mafia alignments.

Her early stature in this game given Golden's notion of a character submission inspiring a more probable civilian alignment is a suitable parallel. I actually agree with her logic in base terms -- a Mafia game would be in its most proper form, randomized entirely. Mac himself suggested though that this game may be bastardized or otherwise not entirely balanced. There ought to be some room to consider the less obvious or logical possibilities.
:srsnod:

dunya's tone overall sounds very much like her mafia game so far.
9. fake as shit. nutella is being as wiffly waffly as she was in FE, she's not provided one solid reason why I'm bad except piggyback on Golden and JJJ. and coupled with everything else up to this point, I'm gonna bet my right and left paws that she is definitely one rotten egg.

10. I made my nutella case. My vote will stay on her. I'll revisit my other scum reads but I'd love people to weigh in on nutella too.
I like this case a lot. But I have a few questions,

2. What made you think that she was provoking him to read you as scum? He already stated that he read you as such, and she was quoting you and not him, with something that is true (you flowing under the radar as scum).

8. How come JJJ should be less of a Town read to her than you? I'm not following. And even if that were the case, what's the problem with her engaging him about other players?

This is such a weak argument. The probability of the first one is much higher. And it's not only about the probability of lynching scum or not. With 3 lynches, you get 2 additional flips in one phase. That is great.

What do you mean by " we need to be talking about people who have no pressure on them too"? Aren't you capable of doing that while having the possibility of lynching 3 of them?

> Focus in our discussions

What does this even mean? This is bullshit. Yes, we are 30 players but just because we have 8 players on the lynch platform, doesn't mean we should spend the time talking only about them. That is a waste of a phase.

no it's not. it's the same reason why a 24/24 game favors mafia imo.

the greatest power town has is time. ya'll might be bored and thinking you want this game over already, but people become easier to read as the game goes on. having 3 independent lynches brings us a lot closer and a lot more info than 3 lynches at the same time on day 2.

yes, but when everyone is a lynching option, focus is scattered between 30 possibilities.

I didn't say we should "only talk about them" -- you're "projecting" and according to my trusty friends, that's a scumtell. :meany:
Well this game isn't a 24/24 one. Time is great, a lynch is better.

Who's "projecting" now? I'm not bored and I don't want this game over already. I can't speak for the other who voted #6 but I don't think boredom is a reason.

Those 3 independent lynches comes with 3 night phases that are baddies greatest power just like the lynch is Town's. What's so bad about gathering the equivalent of that in one phase and giving them only 1 night phase?

What is so bad about a scattered focus? You've been repeating it without explaining why it's bad. What if the people in your bad list aren't option for the lynch? What then?

If there are 30 possibilities, can't you just focus on the person you already suspect?

You did imply it. You're using it as a justification of why one option is better than another. That is the same thing.

sig wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 9:41 pm This is a prewritten message recorded during the unfortunate time period where I should’ve been engaging in a hot orgy, but instead was just kinda hanging out chained to a wall and having my plane delayed by many many many hours. (3ish to be exact) HOWEVER, I will use this time to record some thoughts I’ve had throughout the phase.
1. I believe DDL, especially since I’m very confident I’ll be returning soon to the land of the living, I’m very much against lynching him at all and can confirm 100% that he had nothing to do with my abduction. Also screw you boyfriend (figuratively not literally, bet I’ll be tired from my time in the sex cave) letting me get kidnapped gotta say can’t see this relationship lasting long. ;)
I do see the game theory logic that Jack presented however, I think Jack was also using this game theory to stir up paranoia on DDL which is a bad look for him.
2. I’ve really disliked Nutella’s tone this phase it rubs me all the wrong ways. I’d be shocked if she was civ.
3. Golden is creeping me out.
4. But, not as much as goats, goats are creepy man. Its like they know I love lamb and plan to rise up and kill me
5. LC is being too nice
6. But, not as nice as like Bill Cosby so I think we’re safe for now ( My mind is still in the sex dungeon :P )
7. Dunya is gone, anybody make progress on saving her if she needs to be saved or what?
8. Why has nobody questioned DDL about Juliets? She’s slipped through the cracks for sure. Can he bring her back or was I the only option and why.
9. @Daisy were you punished for breaking a rule or was your time out an ability?
10. Lilifer/Lochlan has been very inactive this I dislike, I also disagree that he’d post more with a cooler role, while he’d most likely post a bit more we wouldn’t see a massive movement.
11. What happened to Scotty? He was looking great than dropped off the map
12. Dogs are pretty crummy personally but I do find cats amazing
13. Sloonie should be getting some pressure votes until he starts giving more content, RP is fun and all but it doesn’t win mafia games.
14. Sig is amazing and super tired, so ignore spelling/grammar errors.
15. Elo is also rubbing me the wrong way, I could see her being mafia.
16. Yes I’m adding extra shit just to see if y’all are bothering to read it if you are than howdy what’s up how ya doing yadyadyad.
17. Bren’s posting a lot for being dead I suggest we ignore him in case it triggers some sorta role thing.
18. I literally have no real civ reads atm. I confident DDL is being honest therefore I’d rather not lynch him, Epi is obvs a civ, and I don’t want to lynch Daisy. Her frustration seemed to genuine. I won’t be lynching Lap or Luna both are playing within civ meta.
19. Nova has been flying under the radar I suggest a vig hit seeing how good they are at coasting to end game as mafia.
20. Vig Hit a new and improved item take one shot and your shooting like a vig! Saving town from evils both large and small. WARNING: may cause the death of all allies, hair loss, total disgrace and exile from the forum, and a mafia victory. 70% of people who have used Vig Hit have reported feeling like morons after killing an important civ role and giving the game to the mafia. Try today for a limited time only. Vig hit a killer you can trust.
21. Where in the world is Motel and Kites? Neither have really contributed much that I can remember
22. Someone mentioned Kyle not joking as much? I think this is NAI some games I joke more others I joke less ect.
23. INH and Zeph has very few posts don’t like this at all
24. Yes I’m very bored in case you couldn’t tell
25. TH looks good, but I don’t remember his scum/civ meta. He wants me to frolic though so he can stay alive ( Unless that was another game than lets lynch the bastard)
26. Haven’t read any of Bobs posts and don’t plan to I’ll put him as a light civ read for the effort he’s putting forth
27. Colins is looking good nice activity
28. Cats are amazing
29. Juliets and I were abducted by different people, with I’d assume different agendas. I believe her abduction might be a more basic silenced/jailkept type thing while mine isn’t.
30. Any medics or protector roles should make DDL a priority as long as he can return vanished players he’s needed.
31. I doubt Zeph is mafia I think he was just guessing re Lochlan.
32. Mars bars are amazing for more information log onto discord RIGHT NOW (7:54 Am UTC 0) to learn more or just come and chat since I’m bored this is a limited time offer and won’t last long so make good use of its.

Very disappointed with thhe fact we got stuck with this poll btw, I much preferred the 3 lynches. And I REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALY like Luna calling out Golden on his post. Even if he did make the poll that doesn’t mean he’s a civ at all it could be a mafia power.

That’s all I’ve got atm, I basically spun my wheels and did nothing of major value this phase, so oh well, if anyone wants my input let me know preferable through a mention and I’ll get back to ya. I do plan to jump on and post this as soon as I can, but It’ll be 12:30 am I believe when the day ends so I highly doubt this post will be up until noon. (I’ve got no clue when Day ends ignore this) God speed good townies, screw you mafia, and Indies keep being the selfish bastards that you are.

Continuing on starting at page 67ish

33. Kites is talking to a girl and girls are gross ergo Kites is gross.
34. Disagree with Dunya’s “Girls before mafia” we’re all bros here and following the bro code its mafiabeforehoes :P
35. Hate Eloh’s refusal to contribute, if someone could give me some insight into whether this is a more civ thing or not that would be great, but atm this seems like a way for mafia to avoid breaking a tie/getting looked at.
36. Love scotty thoughts on current lynches
37. I see Juliet’s reading the thread, howdy Juliet’s! What are your current thoughts.
38. I see where Nutella is coming from with the Zeph thing, I don’t necessarily think she’s right, but it does make her look more civvie in my eyes.
39. Luna’s looking good, I agree with her on Jack’s post. I also dislike his reactions on DDL, which I already mentioned. I could see him being one the abductors, I’d suggest we knock out Jack.
40. So Nutella posts are coming across and a combination of cocky and aggressive, but she also seems like she’s trying really hard to be helpful by suggesting things to Mac and playing a consoling role in game. So like she’s trying to be helpful, but it’s so over the top that I feel like she isn’t serious about it?
41. I’ve changed my mind on Eloh she seems more civ minded.

P.S. I wasn’t tecruited by a cult or mafia last night, try harder cult/mafia. My loose streak is directly tied to me being a civ I need an epic win.

Last thoughts. I said something about Golden being weird earlier his response was to turn it into a joke about him lynching me last game. I didn’t think that was odd until right now, but I believe it could’ve been an attempt to disvalue my gut read.
And by "Civ" results, I mean that it's all people who suspected Nova, but no results on possible teammates. Clearly, Scotty would have looked fine even though he was bad, because he was on the opposite team. Golden and dunya were Civ, and sig... I had to look back because I forgot he was playing. He's been vanished for most of the game, so who knows?

I was just doing a short exercise where I search nova's posts for Luna mentions, and vice-versa. No Luna mentions by nova, and this is it from Luna. I see nothing glaringly teammate-ish going on here, just a couple of possible suspect points, and nothing that clears Luna.

Generally, when someone claims, I think that believing them is preferable to straight up lynching them so that you can give them a chance to prove their role, and, in this case, lynching Eloh is the only way to prove it. I personally buy the tardigrade story, but I don't understand the defeatist attitude. The whole point of defending, of convincing people not to lynch you, is stupid if you supposedly don't die. Yes, other people could be lynched instead, but we still get information from you not dying, so it's not completely useless. Overall, a scummy look to me.
That being said, I'm not going to switch over to her, because Colin still smells fishy to me.

Mine does. So it’s possible she’s telling the truth. It doesn’t stop her from being scum, and I never said it did.

Eloh is very far away from a townread for me, so go ahead and lynch her. But let’s not just have 25 people on one wagon, right? That’s as much a wasted day as any.
ColinIsCool wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 8:47 pm [VOTE: ELOHCIN] aubergine
Character development at its finest.
1) "Scum can easily bandwagon Eloh, so try not to do it."
2) "She looks scum to me, but I'm not going to lynch her just yet."
3) "It appears this lynch is going to happen, better get on while I still can."
The use of stuff like "We can do more" and "That's as much a wasted day as any" to try and suggest that we aren't trying hard enough and that the lynch will not help us at all is really scummy to me, so I'm sticking with lynching Colin.

INH has been AWOL for a large chunk of this game, so those townreads are a way of deflecting possible attention.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 3

Actually, insertnamehere should be more yellow. I don't have a read on him. motel room is someone whose ISO I looked at, and it has few to no redeeming qualities. That's why he's so low.

OK, here's a rainbow list off the top of my head. I certainly have to do some individual readbacks to cement these opinions. This is to start to get a grip on where I am in this Brave New World, the start of some conversations, not the end.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 3

Looking at Zephyrus' posts. This one from earlier could give some insight... it's definitely one of his more involved posts, whereas most of them are casual and short:
Zephyrus wrote: Mon May 21, 2018 2:55 pm Normally I'd do lots more writing, but I should probably be more succinct, so here it goes. I had a quick scan and look over everyone who is on the lynch list:
Contrary to what I was initially worried about, Lilefer is less suspicious to me now. If he was an important role, like scum or a town role, he would've been active, even if he was busy. But I still want to see more if he can.
Jackofhearts2005 isn't really at the top of my list, although him trying to get a rise out of people is a bit scummy to me.
Kylemii is probably my favourite for town. He seems very towny and I can't find anything that really screams scum to me.
No fucking clue for Spirityo - he's a bop it!, I guess, which aren't really open books.
JaggedJimmyJay seems fine to me - nothing glaringly obvious to me as I looked over. Perhaps I'll do a more in depth look later on.

Dragon D. Luffy's lynch seems silly to me. He's claimed a role, which, if he is telling the truth, can be proved if he rescues the people he says he can. If they aren't rescued, then we know who to kill. If they are rescued, whoever pushed for this lynch is dirty scum. As such, Lunalee and ColinIsCool are the people I'm most suspicous of (who can be lynched) - plus maybe Jackofhearts2005 for contributing to this doubt on DDL. I personally think Lunalee is more suspicous than ColinIsCool so....

This next post is central to a point of interest I want to make:
Zephyrus wrote: Fri May 25, 2018 2:50 pm Okay. So this Eloh situation.
ColinIsCool wrote: Wed May 23, 2018 10:49 pm Scum are going to have such an easy time bandwagoning on Eloh with a lead like that for now, no matter what her alignment is. We can do more.
ColinIsCool wrote: Wed May 23, 2018 11:25 pm I’m not saying Eloh directly picked her role. But her role had an obvious Mafia connotation, IF it is that. Certain roles in the game probably do.

The point is that, either Zephyrus is Eloh's teammate (supporting her lynch while still not voting for her), or he could be on to something with Colin. I guess they could all be teammates, but that seems really self-destructive at that point... is a double-bus where they were at on Day 3? That would be grim.

And geez, looking at the polls now, Zeph stayed parked on Colin while the whole Eloh-nutella tie built up. That really looks like avoidance, and that is not a good look.

insertnamehere wrote: Sat May 26, 2018 10:39 am I may or may not have stopped reading this thread 50 pages ago.

I assume everything's been progressing well?
Yeah, things are cool.... we just lynched lying baddie Elohcin, whose Tardigrade claim was pure bunk. Unfortunately, we also lynched the dynamic nutella, who was a Civ. Tied lynch did them both in. Then a hurricane too out Spacedaisy (Civ), JJJ (Civ), and Jack (Indy). So that was kind of a gut punch, and the thread is still recovering. If you want to be relevant in this new world, perhaps using Elohcin's ISO, and other folks' mentions of Elohcin, to find her baddie teammates.

I don't know what alignment did this, but I'd like to believe it was an Indy, maybe a Survivor or LMS, that let loose random death.
