Imagine if you had chosen to work WITH the baddies at this point... maybe if you had left Bass and Dom alone, they would have both been, like, "This guy's cool!" and who KNOWS? I like to turn baddie when I'm Indy, but I was glad for the opportunity to jump ship this time.
In addition, as Llama hinted, there will be very shortly implemented and explained a new site mechanism the administration and moderation team has designed to combat the issue of non-participation.
Nice. I think the non-participation issue is at least as bad for games as the infodumping issue.

My win condition was to get rid of as many players with hats (as in, their role picture) as possible. If the hats outnumbered the no-hats, I would win with any alignment, whether or not I was lynched.

Hence, when I found out you were without a hat (and others), I went after you, absolutely not giving a shit what happened to me in the process :feb:
Awesome! And you sent me a message that night because I asked for Snape to send it? Did you like how I altered it?

I was sent:
A secret revolution is building! Wanna really win this game? Spread the message of peace! Purge the thread of those who carry weapons - swords, wands, screwdrivers that may or may not be sonic, overly large sticks...you get the gist. Together, we can win this without violence! But discretion is key...
I see now that it refers to killing hatless folk. I changed it to refer to bea, Elohcin, S~V~S and Mongoose, in a Hail Mary attempt to associate Mongoose with those 'Confirmed Civs'... or to make people think they were all recruited or something... kind of just adding different chemicals to the mixture to see what happened. Nothing really happened, but it was worth a try. I said it was from Snape in the thread because I wanted to gauge S~V~S' reaction because there was some niggling suspicion that DH was fooling me and S~V~S was Voldemort, and they were all laughing at me behind the scenes, thinking I knew anything. :srsnod:

Also, he admitted to me in the Gollum chat that his Day One Misfits ploy was all bullshit. :) So I tried to focus everyone on it. I still don't know why no one ever analyzed it and saw that it was ludicrous... another testament to DH's abilities! :noble:

It is when infodumping is against the rules, which is generally the case.

Perhaps that should/could be changed for future games?

Re: The Syndicate 2014 Game of Champions [ENDGAME]

Epignosis wrote:Gollum- *Secret*
Gollum has no allegiance except to The Precious, which he unfortunately lost a long time ago. Gollum may choose one person to establish anonymous BTSC with on any Night, and he will share that person’s win condition from then on. However. if anyone tries to Night kill Gollum, he will survive the torture, but will tell his would-be killer the role of his partner. Paranoid, he will leave that partner and is free to target someone else on a subsequent Night, gaining a different win condition. Gollum’s vote is worth 0.
I targeted DH on Night 2, because I thought he was bad and I wanted to find out for sure before getting him lynched.

I was surprised to find that I didn't actually find out what my new win condition was when I joined him, but I acted like I knew he was bad and he eventually confirmed he was a Sorcerer. So, I did what I could to keep him from knowing I was Long Con... he guessed I was zeek early on, and I went with it. I would mostly try to come to the chat only when zeek was posting.

I tried my best to get DH lynched for most of the game, but I decided to do it as honourably as I could, so I built a case based on his so-called connection to DFaraday, and made the case that he was a Suit based on that, and on his other behaviours. :noble: And I couldn't get it done, he was too damn good, and kept not getting lynched.

On night 6(?), he redirected Snape's potion to zeek, believing him to be Gollum, aka me. That potion made zeek into Marla Singer, and shaped the game considerably for him and Timmer.

Somewhere along the line I realized that getting DH killed wouldn't free me of his win condition, and I tried to draw the nightkill so I could attach to a Civvie and ride the game out in style and comfort. DH laughed sarcastically at my attempts without even knowing why it was so appropriate... he just saw right through them and mocked me. :srsnod:

Around Day 9 or so, I finally gave in and told DH everything. My role PM, my identity as Long Con, and everything else I knew. I threw myself into helping the Sorcerers gain an advantage, but it was too late. DharmaHelper, being the fine player he is, agreed to nightkill me so that I could move on and get a Civvie win condition. :noble: :noble: :noble:

The Boomslang lynch came, and I realized that if Mongoose went down, and DH killed me that night, then we lynched DH.... the game would end without me having a win condition. So I had to throw myself into the Boomslang lynch, to eke out one more night during which I could get BTSC with, and win condition from, Timmer.

So that's my story. I posted "I am not a baddie" so that Boe would check it, and that turned around into me getting Boe lynched so that I could become a Civvie.

Epic game.

Re: The Syndicate 2014 Game of Champions [Night 11]

My point exactly about The Ghost. What good would it do to resurrect, say, Dom, when he'd just get lynched? How can a host bring back a baddie and make it sporting? By making the resurrectee anonymous.

And I don't think it falls under the info-drop umbrella to say that "who is dead" was chosen because we thought it would be The Doctor. But we don't get to see if it was a nightkilled player or not.

I guess the anonymity of it makes it more up to us in either case. We just feel like we have an advantage in that the three-word-representation seemed to indicate The Doctor.

In what ways.
That's a good question!

- Your opportunistic push of Made, whether or not you actually believed he was lying, does not conflict with your baddieness if you are Sorcerer (since he wasn't).

- Perhaps most notably, your suspicion of the Llama voters, and particularly Bass, gradually fell off your radar as the Dom/Bass lynch occurred, and you gradually shifted suspicion onto Dom, who you had not mentioned at all previously. I know you're not well known for throwing teammates under the bus, so this was a genius move.

- How you knew from the beginning that S~V~S wasn't Voldemort. Makes the most sense for you to defend her as "confirmed civ" this whole time; why would a baddie cast doubt on that if they ran the risk of being wrong, especially when S~V~S had some serious heat on her for a bit?

- Your genius distancing move of Snowy; as the tension built up on him, figuring he was eventually a goner, you made sure you were one of the first five or so to really throw your gauntlet behind his lynch.

- Most notably, your push of the Boomslang lynch, where suddenly within the previous cycle or so you started hinting at FoB, subtly, to try anything you could to prolong your survival -- this is most damning coupled with the facts that timmer pointed out, that dead players retained BTSC with their teammates, and that there was a huge push to convince players that there was a Seemer role, when otherwise there was no evidence of the sort. It's the kind of hail mary move that makes so much sense for a baddie team to make at this stage of the game where victory seems unlikely.

There's more, but those are the main points.

Like I said, brilliant game. I wish you could win, honestly.
I feel like you could make a case like this about anyone in the game.
