Mafia: A World Reborn - Deadeye Raptor's Journey

NANANANANANA_BANANA was Deadeye Raptor.

Deadeye Raptor - High movement rate of 5. Moves by flying high into the air, looking at all possible squares, and then choosing one.

NANANANANANA_BANANA started the game on square A4, and did not move from that square for the start of Day 1. He was lynched Day 1, and very few posts to show for it - seems like a case of non-participation, unfortunately.

This would have been an extremely powerful role in the hands of a skilled player who was paying attention. The 'Raptor-Sight' that allowed him to look at a 5-square radius and see who was in what square, and more... that's a pretty powerful thing, it turns out.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Game Over

All righty then:

Roles

Civvie

Karma Chameleon - Can imitate the role of people he’s had BTSC with, once. Can choose whether or not to reveal himself, but cannot imitate without revealing himself and having BTSC. If he doesn’t reveal himself, cannot be night targeted. Must inform the hosts what he plans on doing before the Day is over.

Limits: Cannot imitate Splinter Twin’ s hologram. Can only use the Chaos Wizard’s target-randomizing power. Cannot use Blinkman’s lynch-removal power.

Splinter Twin - In addition to moving, Splinter Twin can choose to send his holographic self out two squares. He will enter BTSC with people on the same square as his holographic self, and only his physical form can suffer from targeted effects. His physical form can only been seen from one square away by ranged targeters.

Blinkman - Can teleport to any square each movement. Can remove himself from the lynch poll twice in the game.

John Locke - Can tell who was in the square he’s in, when they were there, and what direction they went in. May discover other information.

Gladius Mechaspark - His battery pack can power one of his inventions each night. Has a shield generator that can protect a square from outside forces for the night. Has a flying machine that can emulate the Deadeye Raptor’s movement rate. Has a locator device that can tell him where an item is. Has a Null Ray that nullifies a player’s powers for the phase, rendering them vanilla. If he’s alive by Night 6, he may invent a new item. An invention must recharge for two phases before being reused.

Psionic Ninja - Lie Detector role, can only detect lies in the posts of people within 3 squares. Can evade first nightkill attempt on him. Movement rate of 4.

Chaos Wizard - The Chaos Wizard has a tower somewhere on the map, and starts on that square. Can do a variety of things from within the Tower:

- can create a Chaos Field around the tower, and anyone approaching will have their direction randomized (within one square of the Tower). Protected from ranged attacks (like kills where the killer isn’t on your square) while the Chaos Field is active
- can choose two players and switch their location, and targeted-ness that night
- can send a message to a player

If the Chaos Wizard leaves the tower, he will automatically randomize the targeting of any role within a two-square radius.

Mystic Surveyor - Can find out information about three squares per night. Can stop the lynch twice, once for himself and once for someone else.

Dr Von Dreszenstein - Sends out his dogs each night from his square to search for experiment subjects or dead bodies. He will know who is within three squares, and choose one of those players to experiment on. Once he has found five dead bodies, he will be able to build a Monster, who can search out and kill for the Doctor.

Examples for living experiments:
Eyes - Alter the subject’s eyes. They will be roleblocked one night while they heal, and thereafter they will be able to see one square over, to know who is in that square.
Legs - The subject will be unable to move for the next movement phase while they heal, and thereafter will have their movement rate increased by two.
Brain - Subject is unable to lie in the thread for one phase while they heal (The Doctor may not grill them during this phase). Thereafter, the subject’s role will be enhanced in a manner that befits their role.
Heart - The subject will seem to die, only to be resurrected the next phase. They will thereafter be immune to the next nightkill attempt made on them.
Face - The subject will appear as a baddie to rolecheckers for two days, and enters BTSC as “????”. Thereafter, the subject may appear as they wish in BTSC, and becomes a Seemer.

Essence Elemental - Chooses a person who they have had BTSC with. If that person dies, they will be resurrected upon the Elemental’s death, and the Essence Elemental will win if the target wins. The Essence Elemental will retain BTSC with their chosen player after death.

Chooses one player each night to bathe with cleansing energy. This will cure poison, expose curses, and free them from The Darkness’ clutches. If the Essence Elemental targets The Darkness, The Darkness will be destroyed. If the Essence Elemental targets the same player as The Darkness, the Essence Elemental will die.

Deadeye Raptor - High movement rate of 5. Moves by flying high into the air, looking at all possible squares, and then choosing one.

Quantum Key - Tapped into the secrets of the game, the Quantum Key will help to reveal the unknown.

Soul Shade - Is the Desperate Baddie, therefore shows up as evil to alignment checks. Influences one player each night. The influence will be different for each role.

Beautiful Beast: If a kill target is available, the Beast must kill
Blinkman: Teleports to a random square this movement
Cataclysm: One of his pulse emitters breaks down
Chaos Wizard: The Soul Shade is insanified for the day
Cursecrafter: A crafted item will not contain a curse as intended
Deadeye Raptor: Cannot land today, and is off the lynch poll today
Dr Von Dreszenstein: His dogs turn on him, roleblocking him, and he starts the next lynch with 3 votes
Essence Elemental: The Essence Elemental is protected for the night
Feral Pixie: The Feral Pixie goes nuts and may travel to three extra squares on the next night
Gladius Mechaspark: Comes up with a new invention
Grim Shaman: Will know the location of all dead bodies on the map
Infectious Goblin: The Infectious Goblin will become poisoned
John Locke: Will think he is Special, and receive a fake Quest Win Condition
Karma Chameleon: Will be revealed, if hiding that night
Lich of Khastor Keep: Soul Shade is immune to nightkills tonight
Living Statue: Soul Shade will learn the location of the Star Gem
Master Thief: Instead of stealing, the Master Thief will give an item to their target
Mystic Surveyor: Soul Shade receives the same information the Mystic Surveyor does this night
Possessing Entity: The Possessing Entity is ripped from their host body for the next phase, and must act as though they can't remember anything from before this phase
Psionic Ninja: The Psionic Ninja gets a snippet of baddie BTSC
Puppet Master: Must vote for a randomly determined player
Quantum Key: Can fully decode one secret
Scrippleskitz: Votes for Scrippleskitz count as double this phase
Splinter Twin: Splinter Twin can send his hologram to any square
Tarnished Golem: Tarnished Golem is immune to nightkills tonight
The Darkness: Soul Shade becomes infected by The Darkness
Trickster: The Trickster may create a trap on a square
Yin: Receives Yang’s location
Yang: Receives Yin’s location

Feral Pixie - Leaves a message to be found in a square after she leaves the square. The Feral Pixie may not return to that square for the remainder of the game. She can only be seen by targeters on the same square.

Scrippleskitz - Starts out each lynch with -3 votes. Each time a player says “Scrippleskitz”, that player gets -1 vote placed upon them in the next lynch. For every two times a player says “Scrippleskitz”, Scrippleskitz gets one vote added in the next lynch.

Baddie
Baddie kills have a range of 2, any baddie can be chosen to be the killer that night. Baddies get to know who is within their range, but not the exact square, of their victim. As baddie team members die, the kill range for the remaining members increases.

Baddies have BTSC with their team at all times

Mafia 1 - The Circle of Decay

Lich of Khastor Keep - Cannot be nightkilled while his phylactery exists. Each night, the Lich may discover the location of one player. Can stop one lynch.

Master Thief - Can steal an item from a player within a two-square radius. If the player does not have an item then he gets to steal knowledge of their role.

Possessing Entity - When the Possessing Entity dies, the player will remain on the map and in the game, but will be unable to post in the thread or vote for the duration of the game. The Possessing Entity must find a square with another player on it, and possess that player, recruiting them to the Circle of Decay. The Possessing Entity will lose BTSC with its teammates during this time, and will appear in squares only as an ominous feeling.

After possessing a player, the Entity will regain BTSC with its teammates, and leave the map altogether.

Cursecrafter - Can create items to leave on a location that seem to have a minor positive effect, but hide a greater negative one.

Mafia 2 - Witherdeath Cabal

Grim Shaman - Can use the powers of dead players, one-time use. One-time raising of a Zombie. The Zombie will be a rezzed player. That player is Vanilla and can join them in BTSC and will share win condition. Has to find a dead body to rezz. The Grim Shaman can choose to have his Zombie kill for them, if he does the Zombie will then be revealed as the killer.

Infectious Goblin - Targets a player to poison each night. Players who are poisoned get votes for them multiplied by their poison counters. Poison counters increase each night. Can poison an Item and leave it in a square for a player to find.

Puppet Master - Can control the night powers of another player in close proximity.
Same square - 100% chance
1 square over - 75% chance
2 squares over - 50% chance
3 squares over - 25% chance

Trickster - The Trickster can appear as any role to a role check, even after death. Can appear as any player in temp BTSC. The Trickster may leave a message behind in a square twice in the game, and may cast an illusion once in the game, causing a lynched person to seem as though they were the role of his choice.

Creates Night Polls to affect lynch polls. Limited-time use for more powerful effects. A Night Poll could make it so that everyone who votes a certain option are the only people on the poll, or some voters get their vote doubled while others get their vote halved, or decide the style of the poll (3 votes each, changeable votes, etc)

The Trickster is the Devious Civvie.

Serial Killers
Amnesiac Psychopath - May kill on any night, but he does not know what the trigger is for targeting the kill. Wins by surviving until the game ends. Kills the third person to quote him each day.... this role didn't exist

Cataclysm - Begins the game with four subterranean pulse emitters. Must secure an emitter in each of four zones in order to cause a seismic rupture across the realm, and to secure his Win Condition.

Beautiful Beast - Can kill someone from one square away if that player is alone. If the Beautiful Beast targets someone who has the Mirror of Truth, that person will not die. Instead, the Beautiful Beast will become Civvie-aligned, and can kill someone within two squares every other night as the Civvie Ninja. Otherwise, the Beautiful Beast must be the Last Man Standing.

The Mirror of Truth is a Quest Object, and the bearer of the Mirror fulfills their Quest Win Condition by curing the Beautiful Beast. The holder of the Mirror can find where the Beast was the night before. The Mirror of Truth can only be held by a Civvie.

Tarnished Golem - Chooses a player to watch over before Night Two. Can kill every other night, but only someone who has voted for the player they are watching over. The Tarnished Golem moves frighteningly quickly, with a movement rate of 6. The Tarnished Golem will travel even faster when it kills, moving to the square of its target. If the target survives, the Golem will not gain BTSC during that phase.

The Tarnished Golem wins when its watched-over player wins. If its watched-over player dies, the Tarnished Golem may kill every other night, any target, and wins only by killing the ones it holds responsible, and surviving until the end. Immune to poison.

Independent
The Darkness - Infects one player per night with darkness, causing them to lose their win condition. The Darkness can send one message each night to those it infects, and may choose to release a player from the darkness at any time. The Darkness will know where infected players are at all times.

If the Darkness is night-targeted, the targeting will fail as though a roleblock or protection were in play. The Darkness may enter the BTSC of any square it’s on as The Darkness. Otherwise, it is undetectable.

If an infected player is targeted by the Essence Elemental, then they are cleansed of infection. If the Darkness is targeted by the Essence Elemental, it is killed! If The Darkness infects the Essence Elemental, the Essence Elemental will be killed.

The Darkness cannot acquire Items.

The Darkness’ goal is to infect five living players with darkness, and to get them to the Shrine of Darkness on the same Day to perform a ritual. The ritual will begin the spread of darkness across the land, expanding at one square per phase. Anyone within the darkness will lose their win condition, unless the Darkness has released them.

The Darkness’ win condition is to perform the ritual and survive until the end of the game.

Living Statue - Cannot move until united with the Star Gem. The Living Statue knows where the Star Gem’s original location is. Immune to nightkills and poison. Will know the role of each person to enter its square.

When the Star Gem is placed in the Living Statue’s chest, it gains a movement rate of 3 and no longer rolechecks. The Living Statue will join the Win Condition of the one who placed the Star Gem, gaining BTSC if it joins a baddie team.

Yin/Yang - Has two avatars roaming the map, and his vote is worth two while both avatars are alive. If one avatar is nightkilled, the other stays alive. If Yin is nightkilled, Yang joins a baddie team, decides tied lynches. If Yang is nightkilled, Yin joins the Civvies and decides tied lynches. If lynched, it will appear that the lynch was stopped, and the player may choose if Yin or Yang will die.

Smirk - For every five votes Smirk receives, he may send the alignment of one player to another player. Smirk will survive one lynch. Smirk may not self-vote. When Smirk accumulates 50 votes, his Win Condition will be achieved, and he will become unlynchable. Must survive until the end of the game to win. This role is unknown to the other players.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Chaos Wizard's Journey

Bass_the_Clever was the Chaos Wizard, a Civvie role. He replaced reywaS on Day 3.

If the Chaos Wizard leaves the tower, he will automatically randomize the targeting of any role within a two-square radius.

reywaS didn't do much during his tenure as the Chaos Wizard. When Bass took over, he switched the locations of S~V~S and Epignosis. That was on Night 3. This put Epignosis close to G9, the Summoning Circle. There, Epig met Golden, and they summoned sig and Bullzeye and formed the First Super Civvie Squad. Thanks to Bass.

That was Bass' only real power usage throughout the game. He was mostly a vaguely absent player, unfortunately. He moved for the first time in the game on Day 7 to C7, and then went to C6, the Ministry of Knowledge, and got info on squares E6 (Realm Catalogue), I9 (Magnetic Field, and D10 (Portal).

He then went to E6 and got info and direction on the Mirror of Truth: The Mirror of Truth is a Quest Object, and the bearer of the Mirror fulfills their Quest Win Condition by curing the Beautiful Beast. The holder of the Mirror can find where the Beast was the night before. The Mirror of Truth can only be held by a Civvie.

The Mirror lies far to the north-northeast.

Bass was also lynched that day.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Game Over

MVP? That's a thing now, it seems. Who's the MVP for this game? Is it Golden for blindly ending up in the perfect 'accepted Civ' baddie slot? Is it Turnip Head for his quick and decisive actions when killing Epignosis? Sorsha for her devious and famously successful ploy to fool the Lie Detector?

I think my vote is for Sorsha, come to think of it. She integrated into the Second Super Civvie Squad without the use of Trickster powers, and she arranged the meeting on G6 with Golden that HamburgerBoy recalled and used for the ultimate recruit. She was also the first to find the Marketplace on I5, which was where Turnip Head got his Warp Potion to get to Epi and kill him, taking the Star Gem. Without Sorsha's pioneering visit to that square, it's a lot less likely that TH would have gone to it by that time.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Cataclysm's Journey

Canucklehead was Cataclysm, an Indy role.

Cataclysm - Begins the game with four subterranean pulse emitters. Must secure an emitter in each of four zones in order to cause a seismic rupture across the realm, and to secure his Win Condition.

Image

Canuck started the game on square I8. At that time, the square was empty, but later became the Ivory Tower when I wanted to add a little more to the map to avoid too much of running into empty squares for people. She moved to H9 on Day 1 and planted her first of four pulse emitters. Heading west for Day 2, she arrived at E9, which started empty but became the Ruins for Canuck. She travelled to B9 on Day 3, the Plateau, and planted her second of four pulse emitters in the southwest zone.

Heading north for the third zone, she arrived at B6 on Day 4, an empty square. She continued north to B3 (the portal to I7) for Day 5, and planted her third of four pulse emitters. That was the day she was lynched. Bullzeye (Yin) decided the tie between Canuck and juliets, and chose Canuck as the lynch candidate, to the Witherdeath Cabal's relief.

She would have taken a two-day trip through the Swamp of Everlasting Night over to square H3 for Day 7, and planted her last pulse emitter to achieve her Win Condition and split the map asunder, had she lived. Instead, the final pulse emitter was used only in storytelling in the final post of the game, when the Trickster completed Cataclysm's quest in a bid to cause chaos and destruction on a realm-wide scale.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Blinkman's Journey

DrWilgy was Blinkman, he replaced Elohcin on Day 3.

Blinkman - Can teleport to any square each movement. Can remove himself from the lynch poll twice in the game.

Elohcin started the game on square D6, and did not move during the time she played. DrWilgy took over the role on Day 3, and moved to square A1 on Day 4, becoming one of the few players to visit the Everyone Gives Canuck A Hunday Dollars square (which was requested by Canuck before the game began).

Wilgy did not move for Day 5, and on Day 6 he arrived at square C3, which was empty. On Night 6, he was targeted for a nightkill by Typhoony of the Witherdeath Cabal, but Timmer 2.0 (Circle of Decay) shattered the black crystal on square C8. This restarted the night and forced everyone to retarget, and DrWilgy's life was spared.

On Day 7, he travelled to square I7, the Portal to B3. He went through the Portal, and on Day 8 went south to B4. Day 9, he blinked back to I7 and met Golden the Psionic Ninja and Metalmarsh the Tarnished Golem. He was lynched that day.

TinyBubbles was the Beautiful Beast, an Indy role.

Beautiful Beast - Can kill someone from one square away if that player is alone. If the Beautiful Beast targets someone who has the Mirror of Truth, that person will not die. The holder of the Mirror can find where the Beast was the night before. The Mirror of Truth can only be held by a Civvie. This information is unknown to the Beautiful Beast.

TinyBubbles started the game on square F4, and from that point until the Day she was lynched, she never used her Night power to kill. On Day 1, she moved to square G4, the Seat of the Tribunal, but didn't request that anyone be removed from the lynch poll. Matt F, the Karma Chameleon shared the square with her without her knowledge. Night 1, she forgot to move., and no one new arrived on G4. Night 2, she moved to G6, and was lynched the following Day.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Map reveal columns I-J

I1 - empty

Location I2: Signal Fire
At this location is a beautiful brick patio, complete with a cooler full of drinks and lounge chairs in the shade. There are three bags here, labelled ‘Mystical Message Enchanted Wood’.
Here you can write a message to the thread. Works three times in the game. Baddies three spaces away may target you on this square.

Location I3: Portal to D10
At this location, shimmering round disc of light hangs in the air, perpendicular to the ground. As you gaze into it, you can almost see an image of another place.
You may enter the portal to relocate yourself to another square on the map.

I4- empty

Location I5: Coastal City
Folks closer to the coast are more laid-back than their inner-city counterparts. Spend some of your pocket change at their market!
You may get one thing from the market: a potion of teleportation, a crystal pendant that shines with inner light, or a telescope to view distant squares at night.

I6 - The Scintillating Beacon is here. With it, you can set a beam of light into the sky that will be seen from all squares. Can be set on a time-delay.

Location I7: Portal to B3
At this location, shimmering round disc of light hangs in the air, perpendicular to the ground. As you gaze into it, you can almost see an image of another place.
You may enter the portal to relocate yourself to another square on the map.

Location I8: Ivory Tower
At this location, an ivory tower rises above you. As you ascend the stairs to the top, you find a map of the realm. You can see location B5 marked as Pool of Moonlight, and the text “Lunar Aegis??” scrawled on the side.

Location I9: Magnetic Field
At this location, your skin begins to tingle, and metal you carry starts to display erratic motions. Some sort of shifting magnetic field permeates the area.
Votes for you are worth 1.5 while you occupy this square. Night kills have a 25% chance of being deflected from you.

I10 - empty
J1 - The Scarab of Vitality is here. With it, you can resurrect one player by placing it on their dead body.
J2 - empty
J3 - empty
J4 - empty

Location J5: Shrine of Darkness

The ground is scorched black here, and nothing grows in this area. In the centre is a massive black totem, carved with screaming faces, demons, and twisted animals, and thick metal spikes jut from it, dripping with dark liquid. You will get no sleep tonight in this cursed and unhallowed area.
This is an evil place. As long as you are in this square, your Win Condition is removed.

J6 - empty
J7 - empty
J8 - empty
J9 - empty

Location J10: Corner of Death

At this location, a tall signpost reads “Corner of Death”. At the foot of the signpost, there is a smooth black chest.
The Obsidian Dagger can be taken here. It gives the user one nightkill.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Map reveal columns G-H

Location G1 - Maze
This square was, sadly, never visited.
Items to be found in the Maze:
Otherdimensional Chest - Quest Win Condition: Treasure Hunter - gather 5 Items to achieve a Win Condition
Bronze Boots - Cursed Item: Reduces movement rate to 2
Jewelled Bracelet - Start every lynch with -2 votes
Mask of the Seemer - Appear as any role to checkers, appear as any player in BTSC, any role/alignment when lynched

Location G2: Docks
Several small boats are moored here. You may take one if you wish.
Here, you may take a boat out on the water with a movement rate of 2.

G3 - empty

Location G4: Seat of the Tribunal
At this location is a shrine where three hooded statues stand. A plaque sits attached to a marble pedestal, with the words Tribunal of Judgment upon it. You may ask the Tribunal to remove someone from the lynch poll. The Tribunal will draw upon the judgment of the closest living beings to determine if your request is granted.
If you wish to take someone off today’s poll, PM the Hosts with that name and the three closest players will be given a vote to approve or deny your request.

G5 - The Mantle of Quicksilver is here, which increases a player's movement rate by 1
G6 - empty

Location G7: Fortuneteller’s Den
A coloured tent sits in this square. You find yourself drawn to it, and within, a wizened old crone smiles and gestures to a seat at the Fortuneteller’s Table…
While on this square, you may only communicate in-thread and in BTSC with standard Magic 8-Ball responses. You may find out much about the square of your choice here.

Location G8: The Nomad
In the desert, you meet a gnarled old man with a ridiculously oversized pack on his back. He greets you amicably, offering you a magical potion, if you will do something for him in return.
If you vote for the player that The Nomad asks, you will receive a Warp Potion.

Location G9: Summoning Circle
At this location, a circle has been inscribed into the ground, with arcane symbols surrounding it. Speak a name, and that person shall appear before you.
Here you may name a living player and bring them from their current location to this location.

Location G10: Khastor Keep
The lair of the Lich, this is a place of evil. You can feel the Lich’s eye upon you here.
The Lich of Khastor Keep knows you are on this square.

Location H1: Docks
Several small boats are moored here. You may take one if you wish.
Here, you may take a boat out on the water with a movement rate of 2.

H2 - empty
H3 - empty
H4 - empty

Location H5: City
The City is a filthy, crime-ridden place. Keep your eyes on your pockets, and think twice about falling asleep!
In the City, you must post at least once every four hours. Every time four hours of silence follows one of your posts, thieves get a chance to steal from you or injure you.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Map Reveal, Columns E-F

E1 - The Vanisher Cloak is here, which allows someone to share a square without being seen
E2 - empty square

Location E3: Swamp of Everlasting Night
The sunlight never breaks through the dense canopy here. Gloomy and dark, there is a sense that evil lurks here, always.
Evil killers have their kill range increased by one while on this square.
Secret: If you stay on this square for three consecutive nights, you become the Avatar of Maligna. You may now use your night power twice while on this square. Three random players will be activated at this point on a Quest Win Condition. They gain anonymous BTSC, and if all three players are on the same square, they can kill you and fulfil a Win Condition. They will know the location of the Swamp of Everlasting Night.

E4 - The Mirror of Truth is here, which cures the Beautiful Beast as a Quest Win Condition
E5 - empty

Location E6: Realm Catalogue
At this location, a gnomish clerk bustles about, sorting index cards through countless drawers and boxes. He pushes his spectacles up his gnarled nose when he notices you. “What is it you want to know?”
Pick an Item from the list and find out what it does. Pick an Item from the list and find out what direction it’s in.

E7 - empty square
E8 - The Star Gem is here, which is the key to recruiting the Living Statue

Location E9: Ruins
At this location, crumbling ruins sit atop a small hill. A search of the ruins yields only one thing: an ancient tome entitled “The Avatar of Maligna”. The pages are mostly disintegrated with age, but you can see several references to a northerly location, and talk of heroes rising to fight.

Location E10: Healing Spring
At this location, the vegetation grows thick, full, and healthy around a bubbling brook, and the area is teeming with happy wildlife.
You may drink from the healing waters once in the game to rid yourself of poison, curses, and banes.

Location F1: Docks
Several small boats are moored here. You may take one if you wish.
Here, you may take a boat out on the water with a movement rate of 2.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 16

LoRab's new invention, the Ionic Photon Repeller, reflected night targeting back at the targeter. If Timmer hadn't broken the Black Crystal, then Typh would have killed DrWilgy that night and he would have lived.

So, although LoRab's invention killed Typh, it was the Circle of Decay that restarted the night and created that situation. :feb:

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 16

It was actually a thing I hadn't thought about before, what happens with cursed items with no Cursecrafter to direct them and receive info from them.

Options I had in mind for the Parchment:
- it just works with no curse, giving +3 votes
- the curse works, and the Circle gets to decide who he votes for
- randomize his vote
- nothing happens

I decided the 'nothing happens' option was the best route to take.

If the coin toss stings, know that it should have actually been worse. By using my Parchment, Tranq's vote was supposed to become controlled by us, so we would have shifted it back onto him, anyway. I'm guessing LC/BR forgot about that part of that item's curse, but it worked out the right way in the end! :pout:

They tried to use the Parchment. If you had been alive, you would have controlled Tranq's vote and avoided the coin toss... but when the Cursecrafter died, the items he made became defunct.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Map reveal columns C-D

C1 - empty

Location C2: Garden of the Living Statue
At this location, an ornate garden once flourished, bursting with flowers and exotic plants of all types, but now only brown, withered leaves blow. Marble pillars and benches have aged and crumbled, their gleaming whiteness fading to a dull and dusty grey. In the centre, atop a round pedestal, stands the Living Statue, unmoving. A star-shaped hollow is in its chest, and a sad expression carved into its dusty bronze face.
The Living Statue is here. You may begin BTSC with the Living Statue here.

C3 - empty
C4 - The Gilded Spyglass is here. It allows a player to see a two-square radius each phase.
C5 - empty

Location C6: Ministry of Knowledge

An intimidating building due to its sheer size, it is filled with the knowledge of the realm, and helpful monks and clerks are always happy to help you find what you’re looking for!
Here you may find out information about three squares on the map.

C7 - empty

Location C8: Black Crystal Grove
At this location, you find a thick grove of pines. In the centre is a huge, thick, twisting oak tree with black leaves. In a hollow of the trunk, a black bed of crystal sits, glowing with deep purple energy.
Here you may choose to shatter the crystal, which will cause the night to restart. The original night actions will be posted, and may not be repeated in the restarted night.

Location C9: Paradise Meadows
At this location, you can hear music playing, and the sounds of merriment. As you approach, a pretty young woman greets you and places a wreath of wildflowers around your neck. This sunlight-bathed meadow is a place where good and happiness reign supreme.
Civvie-aligned players will have a 25% nightkill resistance here. Evil players have their kill range decreased by one.
Secret: A Civvie-aligned player who stays on this square for three consecutive phases will activate a Quest Win Condition, becoming the Avenging Statue. At this time, the evil teams will learn the Fleshstone enchantment, and that the Avenging Statue has been activated.

The next nightkill attempt on the Avenging Statue will reflect back at the killer, killing them, unless the Fleshstone enchantment is cast before the kill. If a killer casts Fleshstone on a non-statue player, that player becomes immune to their nightkill, and vice-versa. Fleshstone may only be cast upon a kill-target.

Upon successfully reflecting a kill and killing a baddie, the Quest Win Condition is fulfilled, and the player ceases to be the Avenging Statue.

C10 - empty
D1 - empty

Location D2: Hall of Mirrors
At this location is an ornate hall. Entering through the thick mahogany doors, you can see eleven full-length mirrors framed in gold. In each, you can see an image of another being, some malevolent, some friendly. You sense that if you touch one of the mirrors, you can acquire another’s power.
Here you may assume an aspect of another role for this phase, adding an element of their abilities to your nightly powers. The choices are: Splinter Twin, Blinkman, Lich of Khastor Keep, John Locke, Psionic Ninja, Chaos Wizard, Master Thief, Mystic Surveyor, Deadeye Raptor, Quantum Key, Feral Pixie

D3 - empty

Location D4: Gurgu Volcano

At this location, an active volcano, black and perilous, rises above you. There is a path that leads to the volcano’s lip.
Here you may destroy any item in the game by throwing it into the volcano.

Location D5: Spirit Oracle
A hill rises here, and a small hut sits atop it. Entering the hut, you see an old man with steel-coloured hair down to his shoulders. He smiles as you enter, and gestures to a seat, remarking on how seldom he gets guests these days.
The Spirit Oracle can tell you where you need to go to fulfill your destiny.

D6 - empty
D7 - empty

Location D8: Golden Genie

At this location, a fat Genie sits and smokes his pipe. He smiles as you approach, and tells you, “The thing about the City is, there’s a good side and a bad side. The bad side will make you sorry you came, but the good side is rewarding!”

D9 - empty

Location D10: Portal to I3
At this location, shimmering round disc of light hangs in the air, perpendicular to the ground. As you gaze into it, you can almost see an image of another place.
You may enter the portal to relocate yourself to another square on the map.

You may enter the portal to relocate yourself to another square on the map.

As you approach the pool, hundreds of tiny luminescent crabs flow out of the water. A ghostly voice whispers, “Trade?” The crabs wait expectantly for your reply.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Role Secrets

Civilians

Psionic Ninja - Lie Detector role, can only detect lies in the posts of people within 3 squares. Can evade first nightkill attempt on him. Movement rate of 4.

Scrippleskitz - Starts out each lynch with -3 votes. Each time a player says “Scrippleskitz”, that player gets -1 vote placed upon them in the next lynch. For every two times a player says “Scrippleskitz”, Scrippleskitz gets one vote added in the next lynch.

Circle of Decay

Possessing Entity - When the Possessing Entity dies, the player will remain on the map and in the game, but will be unable to post in the thread or vote for the duration of the game. The Possessing Entity must find a square with another player on it, and possess that player, recruiting them to the Circle of Decay. The Possessing Entity will lose BTSC with its teammates during this time, and will appear in squares only as an ominous feeling.

After possessing a player, the Entity will regain BTSC with its teammates, and leave the map altogether.

Witherdeath Cabal

Indy

It was quite the excellent plan to kill you and take the Star Gem, Epi. It took a mix of luck, skill, and determination to get to that exact point, and if it had been a Day earlier or later, then this would have been a very different game.

I will reveal everything about the game over the next couple of days. I want to take each role/player and give an accounting of their journey from Day 0. I will also reveal all the map squares and the Items and Quest Win Conditions. And whatever else is left that needs to be known.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Endgame

-= Asunder =-

The Living Statue moved methodically, lifting the Eldritch Corruptor with ease. "Now... place it under the oculusss..." The Lich of Khastor Keep's hollow voice echoed out from the Lich's Phylactery, worn on a leather tie around the Statue's neck. The Living Statue complied, following his master's directions without hesitation.

"When the sun sets on thisss day, the Corruptor shall activate!" The Lich's voice was full of anticipatory triumph. "And our Dark Goddess' plan will come to fruition!"

* * * * *

S~V~S was led, a black sack over her head, to Crickneck Gallows. She struggled against the grip of the two burly guards, tossing her head back and forth, and her frantic motions knocked the sack from her head. Her mouth was gagged, and she glared at the guards with fierce loathing. "Keep the gag on that one!" called the captain. "They say she's reeeal Tricky!" S~V~S rolled her eyes back and moaned in contempt.

With some effort, they managed to get the chain noose around her neck, and pushed her off the edge unceremoniously, exhausted as they were from the long war going on in the realm. She fell, and the chain jerked tight, snapping her neck instantly.

Just then a mocking trill of laughter echoes through the area. The guards looked at each other and looked around, only to see S~V~S, standing on the hilltop across the way, holding a flaming sword above her head. "Trickster!" shouted the captain in disbelief. "How? We - we hanged you!"

"Did you?" giggled the Trickster as the small contingent of guards hustled toward her. "Look again, are you sure?" The captain looked to the hanged woman, only to see that it was not S~V~S, just a poor fishwife dressed in rags. He glared at her in rage. "Pretty good trick, eh?" she taunted.

As the guards approached her, weapons drawn, she slashed at them with the flaming sword, driving them back with cackling ease.

* * * * *

The Quantum Key was already on the move. Her spirit animal, a yellow-eyed cheetah made of blue-green lifeforce energy, had been urging her out for some time, and she knew it was important that she get the hell out of there. Bullzeye had said that the dark ones had planted a trap here for him, and his body, still laying on the ground, seemed to confirm it. She didn't intend to stick around to suffer the same fate.

As she broke through a treeline, though, she saw the Psionic Ninja standing before her in a clearing, his sword drawn. "Ninja!" Draconus called out. "We must flee this place! Danger is close!"

The Ninja's eyes flared red, and he began to advance threateningly. "Closer than you think, Quantum Key!"

She paled, backing off a few steps. "But- but why?! The Psionic Ninja is a friend to the Civilians of the realm!"

"The Psionic Ninja," he said as the sun began to sink below the horizon, "Is not here!"

* * * * *

The Eldritch Corruptor lit up like a bonfire inside its orange crystal heart. The Living Statue backed up a few steps and cast its hardened gaze to the sky, as a beam of light shot toward the heavens, and beyond.

Far above, the gathered pantheon of gods watched in disbelief as Long Con became too invested in the goings-on of the realm. His essence was too far into the mortal realm, and the Eldritch Corruptor had captured a piece of it. Without Him even knowing, Long Con's being was drawn down into the realm completely, tethered by the piece of god-essence trapped in the Eldritch Corruptor.

Dark Willow rose, watching in evil glee as her plan played out. nijuukyugou floated forward, tentacles flicking in interest. "It appears," she said in her otherworldly, bubbling voice, "That Long Con has lost the wager!"

* * * * *

"Drop the sword!" shouted the captain. "Your life is forfeit, do not take any more lives in the name of evil!"

S~V~S grinned a toothy grin. "But I'm not holding a sword!" They looked again, and indeed, she was holding some sort of device on a metal stake, not a sword at all! "Pretty good trick, eh?"

She held the device high above her head, even as they began to again advance upon her. "I've been very interested to see what these things really do!" The captain squinted and looked more closely at the device, and saw the words 'Pulse Emitter' stamped on the side. His eyes widened.

S~V~S laughed one final time as she plunged the fourth and final Pulse Emitter into the ground. Lights on the device flared, and far across the realm, three other identical Pulse Emitters, placed there by the now-deceased Cataclysm, also flared to life.

Immediately, the ground began to shake, a little at first, and then more and more, until everyone on the small hill lost their footing. S~V~S reached out to steady herself on the emitter, chucking, and the ground heaved underneath her, sending her tumbling down the hill. A blinding flash of light, and the ground split open wide beneath them all, a crack that spread across the entire realm, swallowing a huge swath of the land into a gigantic chasm. S~V~S, the guards and captain, and Crickneck Gallows were swallowed by the darkness below.

Draconus was frozen in shock as the Ninja advanced on him with deadly intent, but his Spirit Animal didn't hesitate, leaping at the possessed Ninja and tackling him to the ground with a snarl. For a moment, Golden's eyes lost their red glow, and he looked at Draconus in desperation. "Quantum Key! You have to run! I can't - I can't control-"

His eyes flared red again, and he tossed the spirit cheetah aside, stabbing it through the heart with his wicked blade. He rose again to come after Draconus, but just then the ground began to shake violently. The earthquake sent boulders tumbling down from the nearby hilltop, making the Ninja leap and dodge them to avoid being crushed. He looked again, and the Quantum Key was gone.

"No matter," hissed the Possessing Entity. "We will find her!"

Above the chaos, the sky swirled with deep purple and black clouds, and Dark Willow appeared in the sky, a vast and terrible goddess that spanned the sky.

"
Good work, my children," her voice boomed for all to hear. "The Circle of Decay has pleased me on this day, and have earned the right to call themselves victors!"

The Feral Pixie looked to the sky, her heart sinking.

"
I am very proud of you."

Congratulations to Turnip Head, Sorsha, Timmer 2.0, HamburgerBoy, Dom, and Golden!

The Circle of Decay has won Mafia: A World Reborn!

Thank you all for playing!

Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Night 15

-= Weapon of a God =-

The gathered pantheon had grown substantially as the fate of the infant realm played out. Deities of mathematics, of lightning, of chance, and of fear. News of the wager had raised a level of interest in the farthest planar reaches, and many had come to see the greatest of them, Long Con, lose to a young deity of only a few centuries.

They were all surprised, Long Con most of all, when a tiny fragment of His power split off from him and shot down into the realm. Dark Willow's eyes glowed black with sinister approval, and she grinned mockingly. "
That was quite generous of you. I hope you're not trying to influence the outcome of the wager!" The other gods murmured to each other in concern, while Long Con shot her an unreadable gaze and returned his attention to the land below.

Golden stood on the small rocky plateau, looking up into the night. He could sense something happening, something powerful. As he gazed deep into the darkness between the stars, he saw a new star forming. Could it be a sign? Some sort of omen, to guide him? Perhaps he didn't need to find the Spirit Oracle after all! The heavens themselves would show him the way!

As the star grew bigger and bigger, though, Golden realized that it wasn't an omen at all. His keen eyes began to make out more and more detail on the bright object as it got closer. It was like a glowing ball of lava, shining orange and white, shifting with raw power as it hurtled toward him. He balled his hands up into fists and spread his arms wide, gathering what power he could with a primal scream. The ground beneath his feet cracked as he braced himself, and then the holy meteor was upon him, slamming down with immeasurable force!

The impact left a huge, smoke-filled crater in the ground where Golden stood. Silence, deep and thick, fell on the area, and all was still until a soft breeze began to blow, slowly clearing the smoke. A mound of dust in the crater's centre began to shift. The dust fell away to reveal Golden, rising and standing tall.

He raised a fist and cried defiantly, "Is that all you've got, Circle? Is that all you've got?!"

Golden has not been killed by the Circle of Decay. It is now Day 16.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 15

-= Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies =-

The remaining players huddled around a low fire, as the remaining chill winds from the unseasonable snow a few days ago blew through. They said little, and exchanged many suspicious looks, but survival was survival, and the night was cold.

A snapping branch from the darkness beyond the fire caught their attention, and they snapped their respective gazes to the shadowy night. Some stood and grabbed weapons. A shape slowly appeared, moaning softly through rotted lips. A pair of glasses with a broken lens sat on the bridge of a nose that was near rotted away, and the white lab coat it wore was stained with repulsive-smelling liquids. The Psionic Ninja attempted to breach the creature's mind, but instead got a sharp headache and a sense of abhorrent disgust.

"Dr Von Dreszenstein!" the Ninja cried. "He's... he's..."

"A zombie!" The Quantum Key finished the Ninja's stammering attempt, and quickly grabbed a large rock from beside the fire, wincing as it burned her hands. Just before the zombie reached the fear-stricken Ninja with a bony claw, she hurled the rock across the fire and past the Ninja, striking the zombie in the chest. Quickly, she sprang forward and snatched the Ninja's sword from its scabbard and plunged it into Tranq's head.

The Psionic Ninja shook his head and glared at the Quantum Key, his voice chilling her. "Nobody touches my blade."

Tranq has been lynched. He was Dr Von Dreszenstein's zombie, and a member of the Witherdeath Cabal. It is now Night 15.

Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Night 14

-= Stolen Dreams =-

Sorsha loved the City. She had been here before, it's true, but the Marketplace was enough to keep her coming back. So many wonderful things to buy, if one was willing to take the time to browse! She even ran into an old friend, and they decided to have lunch at L'olive Mariné, a local fancy restaurant. Many laughs, and talk of old times, and perhaps one too many drinks. Sorsha said her goodbyes, and gave her hugs, and went on her way.

She hadn't realized that it had gotten dark. She was in a part of the City that she was less familiar with, and she furrowed her brow as she tried to figure out which way to go. Her head was spinning a little, and she put a hand to the wall to steady herself. Looking ahead, she saw the Essence Elemental, flitting through the streets. Her glowing form was easy to see in the fading light, and Sorsha hurried to catch up to her, if only to get directions.

To Sorsha's dismay, she was unable to catch up with the emblem of purity, and she lost track of the Elemental. She shivered as a harsh breeze blew down the narrow street, and looked around, recognizing with dismay that she DID recognize this part of the City. Last time she was here, many days ago, she had been assaulted by thieves as she tried to sleep. She realized there were several ominous shadows around, low-life folk eyeing her up, and she became frightened that there would be a repeat of the past beating she had received.

She picked up the pace, turning corners and taking shortcuts that she thought would get her back to the main streets, but she only got more lost in the dirty slums. Finally, she ended up at a dead-end alleyway. A high fence stood between her and the Marketplace, where she could see parents and children walking and talking happily, bands playing, and colourful lights illuminating precious wares and artifacts that friendly salesmen were offering.

A voice from behind her made her blood run cold. "So close... and yet so far..."

She spun around to see a Witherdeath assassin standing between her and the alley's exit. As the killer advanced upon her, she tried to jump and climb the fence, but a dagger was plunged into her back, and she fell back as her fingers stopped obeying her commands. She slammed to the ground right on the dagger, causing it to bury itself so deep within her that the blade burst out from the middle of her chest.

Her killer roughly shoved her over with his foot, and tore a piece of cloth from her shirt to grab the blade and clean it off, as her blood mixed with the mud and garbage in the filthy alley.

Sorsha has been nightkilled by the Witherdeath Cabal. It is now Day 15.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Night 14

A request has been made for 24-hour days. I will only do this is everyone unanimously agrees. This game's outcome is not yet decided. If you have a reason to want to keep 48-hour days, let me know. Or, let me know that you like 24-hour ones and it will be.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Night 14

I have not put an end time on this poll because I want to try and move it back a bit - it's too late as it currently stands. Try to get your night PMs in by 8pm EST and I'll get the night ended a couple of hours early... like 10pm maybe.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Day 14 Lynch

-= To Dust =-

Lorab stood sadly at the cliff's edge, the angry folk of the realm behind her. She could feel their eyes burning into her back, and it saddened her. She truly had tried her best for the realm, but corruption was too great, and there was no more room someone like her. Monsters and killers, goblins and madness, what good-hearted person could survive in such a place?

She turned to them with tears in her eyes as a spell was cast upon her, and, with a sigh, her skin gently turned to dust and scattered into the wind, and her bones fell to the ground and tumbled into the water far below.

Lorab has been lynched. She was Gladius Mechaspark, a Civvie. It is now Night 14.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 14

I don't think there is any rule prohibiting someone from answering the question "Did you recruit Dom?" It doesn't exactly strike me as the proper way to play Mafia, either, from a "spirit of the game" point of view. It's up to everyone to decide if they want to answer it or not. I'm not going to stop you. It probably detracts from the magic of Dom's role somewhat, to ask the remaining players to strip him of secrets.

I think all PMs are out... there's not many left each night these days. Let me know if I missed anything. I get so lazy toward endgame with my notes.
