Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 12)

Night 12- 7 More Years

Sun set on the city of Keystone one last time for MetalMarsh. As Marsh and Sophie ran from the new villains that had slowly taken over their beloved cities, a strange sight caused them to stop in their tracks. Across the bridge was a glassy wall, their very own reflections on the other side. A giant image appeared, spanning across the horizon. It was DFaraday, and his boss, Black Rock. They looked down upon the heroic duo. Black Rock cackled a sly laugh as she spotted them. DFaraday said nothing as his surrounded the fake world that Marsh and Sophie had found themselves trapped in.

In the real world, the New Rogues gathered to celebrate at Granite Peak, reuniting after FZ's retribution. All except one. In a field south of Keystone, Murmur was sprawled out in the grass with a boomerang wedged between his ribs. "Dmn", he muttered through his stitched together lips.

It was no matter, Girder gave the order to Plunder, slamming his fist on the picnic table in front of them and shaking the ground in the process. Dr. Alchemy revealed his role in the diabolical scheme as he phased into the meeting from the trees nearby. Plunder nodded, and crushed the small mirror he held in the palm of his hand. Wally West and the Pied Piper were no more.

Sophie awoke to see pitch black around her. There was no sign of MetalMarsh in the darkness. She was trapped in a destroyed dimension, and would remain there until she could figure out a way to get loose and seek revenge on the New Rogues.

In time, Central City forgot the Flashes even existed. People chose to embrace the Reverse Flash and the mystifying Dr. Alchemy, who turned the economy of the gem cities around, converting their sparse resources into gold with his Alchemist's Stone. Keeping the attention on his good deeds also kept his partnership with Central's criminal circuit under wraps, as long as he saved some of the profits for Black Smith and her gang of New Rogues, of course.

MetalMarsh has been killed by Plunder. Long Con did not survive a tornado and rogue boomerang.

But The New Rogues have won! Congratulations to Black Rock, Devin the Omniscient, and DFaraday! Posthumous congratulations to Long Con!

Bass 2.0 has also won! Congrats!

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 12)

Day 12 - Puckish No More

Two groups quickly gathered at FZ's home. One cross-section of Central's population felt that this was a wise place to investigate next, hoping to eradicate the last remaining criminals on Detective Singh's most wanted list.

The other party was wary of the recently pardoned DFaraday. Was he really out for the good of the community? Before hastily enacting more vigilante justice, perhaps it was time to look at themselves before jumping to conclusions about others?

Their thoughts were poignant, and probably true. When the lynch mob burst into FZ's home, they were greeted with violent winds that swept them all into the air.

FZ rode the air current as far up as it would go, before burning up in the Earth's atmosphere, a glimmering light signifying the end of another Rogue.

One of the boomerangs thrown the day before was still making its return trip to Central City when it caught the gusts of wind that FZ created. It circled the great vortex before being flung into the sky. Surely it will come careening back to land soon, hopefully far away from any civilians!

FZ has been lynched, and was the mighty Weather Wizard.

It is now Night 12. 24 hours to go!

Night 11 - Time Off for Good Behavior

The warden of Iron Heights prison was growing unhappy with Wally West's recent crackdown on small crimes. His containment cells were designed for extreme threats to the gem cities, not simple thieves. He was running out of room to keep everyone! What if a real threat emerged again? Where would they be locked away?

Fortunately for him, a stranger visited his prison in the middle of the night, inquiring about a friend who was being held there. The warden was more than happy to release the prisoner...for a price.

Bail was posted, and DFaraday was now a free man once more.

DFaraday has been released from Iron Heights. It is now Day 12.

Day 11 - An Important Political Decision Arises

MetalMarsh had survived the mob mentality of Central City before. But this time they brought along pitchforks!

Marsh was not ready to deal with with pitchforks today. To top it all off, a barrage of boomerangs suddenly came sailing out of the crowd, knocking out one of Marsh's pursuers.

In the end, the marmot would survive again, thanks in no small part to the crowd soon diverting their attention to a public debate about which was a more effective marmot-hunting tool: pitchforks or boomerangs? The discussion lasted long into the evening, when the police finally had to tell the mob to go home, utterly confused at what they had just witnessed.

6AM: The signal of Central City's local TV station is hacked into and the following message is displayed on the network for approximately 5 minutes before being shut down.

Anyway, I've talked to various people over the past few days (both NPCs and players alike), and I can say with certainty that our friendly neighborhood spy is no longer with us. Night 10 - Don't Drfink and Drfive

Detective Singh was relieved to go another night without hearing any other murder reports over the police scanner.

4AM rolled around, his shift ended, and Singh was just opening the station's doors to walk outside when an officer radioing in caught his ear.

The policewoman noted a suspect who was arrested for drinking and driving. The driver wasn't any more than a little tipsy, but the department would have to keep her for the day and ask her a few questions. It seemed she wasn't alone in her drinking escapade. The only other patron at the Keystone Saloon that night had downed a glass of liquor as well, and may have consumed it a little too fast. He was still fast asleep when they took him in for questioning.

Singh was disappointed. Sure, nobody was dead this time. But his resources were being worn thin, and pulling extra officers off duty to babysit a couple of people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time wasn't going to help matters. With all the recent happenings, his department was becoming more tense by the hour. Even the smallest inconvenience could be their breaking point now.

Day 10 - Mistakes Were Made... :ninja:

Detective Singh stepped back and took a look at the rap sheets and wanted posters that littered his desk. He was rifling through them frantically just moments ago.

"Something just doesn't gel with our latest suspect's alibi...", he thought to himself. If The Trickster only gets out to see his psychiatrist a couple of times a week, how is he pulling his signature pranks off all week long?

Singh zeroed in on another document sitting on his desk. An unopened envelope was wedged between two posters. He tore the envelope open and took a look at the contents. Inside was a letter from Iron Heights penitentiary, giving The Trickster nightly time off on good behavior.

The kid was telling the truth. Singh had made a huge, tiny mistake...

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 10)

I'm here, everyone.

Terribly sorry for not being available for your questions the past 2 days. I wound up getting scheduled to do a lot more than I anticipated doing for our telethon at work and post-production. But it was to benefit the Children's Miracle Network, so while it's my job and I can't really say no to what needs to be done, it's also a passion of mine and I put extra care and time into it. I hope that's understandable.

I have to sort out an issue because a location result wasn't taken care of last night.

I'm considering extending the phase by 1 additional day to make up for this; though that's not an ideal solution in any game, it may be the only one.

If that seems unacceptable to anyone, please let me know!

Night 9 - A Hop and a Skip

Rabbit bounced around the green fields soth of Central City. It was a beautiful night, full of mystery and opportunity. He thought about how far he'd come since his unfortunate conviction after falling asleep at the wheel a few years ago. Sure, he missed a crucial town meeting and ruined someone's lawn when he drove ontp it, but he would never do it again. And he was happy to be alive.

Wally West didn't share the same optimistic outlook on Rabbit's life. He saw his as a danger to himself and others. And so Rabbit was snatched away from his fun night, thrown into Iron Heights before he could celebrate his freedom.

Day 9 - Mr. Sandman

Amidst the darkness, the people of Central City called out to each other, trying to figure out who was who in the shroud of shadow surrounding them.

A couple of folks were just too fast asleep when their friends bumped into them and asked who they were. This silence made the mob wary and they decided the best response would be to kill one of the bedridden.

Soneji slept right through the ordeal. There was no pain. The end was swift. Morpheus, lord of the Dream Realm, carried Soneji away to an eternal slumber.

Night 8 - Darkness Falls...And Stays for Breakfast

A couple of courageous explorers broke into the Flash Museum last night. They had heard some of the artifacts kept within were mystial relics, tied to the very elemental energy that composed the darkness that balanced light.

They reached the glass case that this item was said to be stored within, but it was empty. Someone had beaten them to the punch! Just then, a shadow came creeping over the museum's windows, and permeated the hallway the duo was standing in. They were engulfed in pitch black energy, lost into the night.

It wasn't just the Flash Museum where this strange incident occurred. A large dome began forming over Central City, its citizens were now totally blind to each other, only able to reflect on themselves and guess in the night.

Day 8 - Centrifuge

At the crack of noon, Turnip Head rose from a quick nap and drew the curtains from his windows. He squinted as the sun poured over his face, but took a step back and gazed in bewilderment as he saw the remainder of the city's population waiting right outside his window.

The view outside of his small home wasn't quite as he remembered it either. Beyond the crowd, the earth dropped sharply and in the distance, Turnip Head could see the city he once wanted to call his and his alone.

Yes, while Turnip slept soundly after a hard night's work, the people of Central City had deduced that he was hiding a dark secret. They tethered his mobile home to their vehicles, and drove it to the top of Granite Peak.

Turnip Head wanted to run, to escape the angry mob. But before he had an opportunity, he was knocked off his feet by the floor movinbg under him. He fell forward onto his wall, breaking his nose. The house tipped over again, and again, and again as it tumbled down the mountainside. By the time Turnip's residence hit the base of Granite Peak, there was barely anything left of it...and barely anything left of him.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 7)

Night 7 - And the Beat Drones On...

After the calm that overtook the city during the seventh day of chaos in Kansas, it came as no surprise to anyone when mayhem erupted again later that night.

Bullets flew everywhere, Speedsters rushed to intercept them, a birthday cake with a magnet was delivered to one lucky recipient. As Wally West made his move, the metallic earpieces on his costume yanked him face-first into the cake. By the time he recovered, the vagrant he was after disappeared into the night.

Elsewhere, Keystone's new serial killer would find their exploits unfruitful again. They picked an innocent-looking bystander, rushed him at full speed, and pushed him onto the railorad tracks nearby, right as a train was arriving.

The sound of crunching steel pierced the night. The killer walked away satisfied. But minutes later, the victim wandered out from under the carriage of the locomotive, brushed himself off, and continued on his walk, albeit moderately bewildered.

In all the chaos, Llama believed he was safe hiding away with his new, close friends at an undisclosed location. They reminisced about the good old days of Keystone City, and what it was like before Professor Zoom saved the world and made them all wanted men. It was almost as if he didn't remember that he died just a week ago.

As Llama sat and played poker in the abandoned building, a whirring sound approached him. He turned around and his eyes grew wide. A small drone had been piloted into the warehouse, probably through an open ventilation shaft. The drone itself wasn't what Llama became terrified of; it was the harpoon gun attached to it that captured his attention. He had no time to react, all he had time to do was feel the cold, metal spear pierce his heart.

The drone powered down and dropped to the ground with a thud. Llama's former road trip buddies.gasped and hurried out of the building before it self-distructed, leaving no trail back to it's pilot.

Day 7 - We Didn't Start the Fire

The crowd in Keystone City had gathered around the homes of 2 neighbors, both suspected in the case of Spacedaisy's death the previous night.

The mob's solution was to light each house on fire. If either resident slept through the fire, it could mean they were awake and up to no good all night.

They poured the gasoline and lit their matches. However, the flames were snuffed out when thrown at the homes.

Someone had filled the gas cans with water, how strange!

With their plan out of commission, the crowd quickly lost interest and dissipated. Their revenge would have to wait until they bought some more fuel...

Night 6 - I Blame Rube Goldberg

The adventurous criminal mastermind looking to have their revenge on the Gem Cities was poised to strike. They prepared to kill from the shadows, eliminating a hated opponent.

However, as the killer wound up and hurled a large knife at his target, a balloon popped...no...exploded...? The small blast wounded the intended target, but left them far more alive than the assailant had planned.

Meanwhile, the knife was flung back into the killer's direction. They thought fast, deflecting it. The blade was hurled up into the air and flew an unusual, almost cartoonish distance through the night sky. It's trajectory dropped and it fell into the heart of a passerby, tragically minding her own business before being struck down.

Day 6: The Thrill of the Hunt

DREAM ducked and weaved through the forest bordering Central City, her heart beating rapidly as a crowd of bloodthirsty pursuers tracked her down.

She cursed the Flash's name as she ran right into a trap. She had come so close to destroying the city he swore to protect; but alas, her mission would end at the bottom of a pit.

The townsfolk hurreidly shoveled the earth back into the makeshift hole they'd made, burying poor DREAM alive.

After the deed was done, a sly villain who lurked in the shadows celebrated eliminating the opposition. They were about to become even more brazen.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 5)

Night 5 - Red Sky At Morning...

Image

A calm breeze blew across the Missouri River as the small city of Keystone slept quietly in their beds.

Wally West was pulling a late night though. He had a mission to accomplish, a dastardly criminal to remove from the streets.

He was about to leave his home when he realized he couldn't even open his door. There was a strong gust of wind suddenly focused at his home.

Throughout Kansas, a dramatic downpour began, with lightning illuminating the pitch-black clouds periodically.

Nobody would be walking the streets of Keystone or Central Cities tonight, be their intentions good or evil.

It is now Day 6. You have 48 hours to step out into the sunshine and dry yourselves off! Oh...and also lynch somebody, I guess...

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 5)

Day 5 - Trial By Harvey

The crowd of allies in Central City had grown divided once more. Police surrounded the scene as MovingPictures and Timmer engaged in a classic standoff.

Their pistols were pointed directly at one another. Neither so much as blinked for 5 minutes straight. The surrounding street was so quiet, those gathered there could hear a coin drop...

...and they did.

A shot rang out and a MovingPictures's firearm dropped to the pavement with a clunk. Neither gun was smoking.

The crowd looked around and only saw a garishly dressed figure duck down an alleyway. By the time the nearest officer had turned the corner of the alley, the man had vanished.

Yes, Harvey Dent had enjoyed his visit to Central City. He had picked up some important documents from an all too cooperative local villain for his employer back home in Gotham, and would be offering some legal advice when that associate hit the stand a month from today. But Two-Face also got to indulge in his favorite past-time: Not just acting as a lawyer, but as judge as well.

MovingPictures has been lynched. He was the Rainbow Raider. :puppy:

If it's easier for anyone, I can always extend the deadline to Monday. I didn't even consider that checking in on Mothers Day might be tricky for some.

Night 4: Mr. Popular

Bullzeye was feeling the heat in the city. He knew it was only a matter of time before the lynch mob that had formed would set their sights on him.

He decided to take a walk into the trails around Keystone. Perhaps some time on the peaceful dirt roads would clear his mind.

But other parties had their own plans for Bullz. One of them set up camp on the road ahead of Bullzeye, ready to attack the hapless wanderer. But before he could act, a yell echoed out from down the trail.

The stranger ran over to the sound's origin, disappointed to find that Bullzeye was already dead, bashed over the head with a stone.

Bullzeye has been killed.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 4)

Day 4: Is This the Darkest Timeline?

Today would be a tragic day for the people of Keystone City. Their glorious hero was about to be wrongfully jailed by those crooked cops over in Central.

AceofSpaces zipped across the city, from patrol to patrol, quickly and efficiently dispatching any armed policeman who stood in his way. Eventually, he stopped and turned arond, only to see that a group of vigilantes had him cornered.

He knew this was how his story would be ending. But the damage was already done. He was to be remembered as a hero, he made sure of that...

AceofSpaces has been lynched. He was Professor Zoom.

Not unless there was a specific part of the target's role that guaranteed they survived.

Also, an advance warning to everyone. Please keep the map chat references to a minimum. So far, nothing's gotten out of hand, but I want to make sure things stay that way, ok?

Yes. Because there are some powers in this game that have the potential to overlap in...odd ways, the only things that will take precidence are one secret ability and Blocks, regardless of when they are sent in.

So killing a silencer will not stop that night's silence, or killing a killer will not stop their kill, etc...

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 3)

Night 3: Are We Sure We're Not Actually In Chicago?

Another victim was dropped off at the Central City Police Station last night. Detectives were surprised to see a very vocal member of the community draped across the steps in front of the station. The dozen or so icicles that riddled DharmaHelper's body were beginning to melt in the morning sun, causing a bloody puddle to form around his corpse. It seemed that Captain Cold was sending another message.

Wally West had no time to wait for his newly resurrected friend to investigate. There were murderers and crooks out there who needed to be put away for what they've done. He raced across Central City, scouring every room of every building until he found Roxy. He grabbed her by her arm as she tried to flee, careful not to take off too fast and risk tearing her limb clean off. Hoisting her off the ground, Wally darted to Iron Heights and threw her in jail.

DharmaHelper has been murdered in...cold blood :slick:

Roxy has been carted off to prison by Wally West

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3?)

Day 3 (Part 2): Everything's Not Golden...

Len Snart used to be thankful he lived in Keystone City instead of somewhere like Gotham, a cesspool for several different crime factions, or Coast City, which was the site of a catastrophic attack years ago.

Now it seemed like his quiet city was going through a crisis of its own. The people he thought he knew so well were rabid with paranoia, hunting down anyone who they feared. Now, they had gone too far.

Even Leonard Snart, Captain Cold, can't always keep his cool. He broke down and sobbed when he saw what they'd done to his sister. Lisa just wanted to be like her big brother, Lenny. That wish got her strung up by an angry mob.

Blindfaeth has been lynched. You guys lynched Golden Glider! :puppy:
