Re: Cerberus Tribe - Night 7

My qualm with your accusation Boomslang is that you offered reasons as to why that role could be civilian or mafia. Yet your gut says mafia. I don't think your gut is sincere.

My gut says mafia. I can see it as a blanket civ-protection thing, but it seems like the kind of role that would benefit most from coordination with other powers. And mafia are the ones most likely to have that coordination.
That's an unfair accusation (and one I can't defend against).

As you can see, that role was a limited time use. I wanted a new role.

No. The above vote is a joke.
I asked directly whether or not he actually suspected me. "No" was his answer. Marmot does not suspect me. Noted.
So I followed up:

Sloonei wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 5:29 pm Marmot, you placed a joke vote on me and then removed it. This leads me to believe you think I'm town. Why?
Why would this lead you to believe that I think you're civilian.

This and that are not the same thing.
I was lead to believe that you think I am civilian because you stated "no" when asked if you suspect me. Sure you can say I'm a null read. But I refuse to accept that at the juncture of the game in which this exchange took place, especially when I have ~142 posts. "No" suspicion for this player should indicate a town read, but Marmot won't commit to that stance. I'm really just trying to get him to follow up on the read he seemed to hint at earlier, but he refuses to do so.

Linki: Oops, got distracted by work. Meant to post this a while ago.
You had a chance to vote for me but did not. What is your read of me?
Currently, I think you're abstracting my vote for you into something bigger. I voted for you as a joke. That's it. I also don't understand what you mean by "I had a chance to vote for you". You're really reaching on this one.
I don't think I was reaching seeing as I was directly responding to a read you had hinted at a few minutes earlier. This seems like the marmot trying to weasel out of a read.
If I were to articulate my suspicion of Marmot in one word, it would be listless. It feels like he's going through the motions of being a townie, but without the direction or the emotion of a player who is genuinely trying to solve the game.

Vote Marmot, 2018.

Still not 100% sure, but I could get behind a Wilgy vote. Based on posting patterns, I'm guessing either that he's bluffing or that Scotty/Blooper got a silence as their second role. I already didn't like his comment about killing himself before Bloops, and his response to my analysis of JoH was weird. He said I'd thought about Jack more than he had, then never responded why he thought Jack was good himself.

Therefore, I think a WIlgy lynch would give us good information. Imo, there's a not insignficant chance that he's bad, and if he's not, then I think we get valuable intel about Scotty/Blooper's targeting thoughts.

As for wanting Blooper's read on me? All in good time, my marmot.

Boomslang wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2018 1:44 pm Ok, all caught up. I don't like Sig's explanation of the haiku confusion on a personal level, but I guess that's a playstyle disagreement. Not going to push it when we have juicy nightkill responses to make.

I wasn't involved in killing Blooper, but I strongly suspect that whoever did kill her is laughing their asses off at the WIFOM they just created. I'm betting it's one of the older players who understands the couples meta. Coupled with sig's good point about a ballsy scum team being willing to NK their own for the wifom...

Marmot needs to show up and give us something to chew on. Wilgy has also been super blendy so far. About the only thing we've gotten from him is some gentle needling of Sloonei based on a point made by Scotty. And a cryptic comment about Kyle — why is he a "hero and patriot" for voting Blooper?

I also have an eyeball on Lorab right now. "Ugh. I have no idea where to vote. I don't actually suspect anyone" at the end of Day 1 is so noncommittal, then she votes Sloonei for "peer pressure" and the active voices in the thread don't really get on her for that lack of reasoning. She then jumps in, first post of Day 2, to begin the WIFOM about me and the Blooper kill.
I just came across this post from Boomslang. Everything I've read from him up until this one I've like (and even parts of this one I like).

In regards to the "couples meta", I don't think Boomslang knows quite what that is. In my experience, Epignosis/Elohcin and Long Con/Black Rock avoid interaction and reading each other early in games, and also generally don't kill each other off early on in the case where one is scum and one is civilian.

Betting on one of the older players to is a broad suspicion, especially if no names are named.

Also, asking me to show up and give him something to chew on? You've only made one post today Boom. :pout:

I think INH was good based on that role reveal. I have no idea as of now.
I'm interested in knowing the cause of his death.

I recall Spacedaisy expressing recent suspicion of him, though yes she was not the only one. Additionally, inh is voting for her.

What do you think? It's possible that the virus is what killed inh, and that'd be rather sad for the thing that he was protecting us from is what became the death of him. :(
I’m wracking my brain for a mechanism that would kill at a random time in the day.

A glaring one is probably a one-shot vig kill. Pretty ballsy to do that when someone you suspect still has a life left, but I guess that’s plausible and could have worked out if INH was a role that screamed mafia.

I mean shit, he could still be mafia and “virus” could very well be “save” in a weird opposite bizzarro world. So in essence a strongman type role.

I choose to believe he was a doctor-lite tho
If Boomslang is a vig of some sort, today would be the perfect time to use that shot. But considering his interactions with inh, I don't see him suspecting inh at all, I doubt a civ-minded Boomslang would target inh.

Still, I believe the virus got him.

Sloonei wrote: Mon Mar 05, 2018 1:37 pm @Marmot the other tribe has a role thay forces one player each day to post in haiku. Other than that, they didn't appear to have any post restrictions present in their thread.

As for the discussion about the votes that sent me there, I had no say in it. I didn't get home from work until about 6 hours after I'd been given the privilege. So if the desire was to send someone there right away, I wasn't the best choice. I did devote a big part of my morning yesterday to going through their thread and I'm grateful that y'all picked me for the task. I have no concerns about the voters who sent me there for doing so, but I can see why we might want to discuss those things in more detail if it comes up again.
I didn't really have time to discuss, even, so I just placed my vote and left.

After reading their thread, did you gather any takeaways for our thread?

Right now, this game feels like Cerberus vs Pikachu more than civilian vs mafia. Every role that's flipped has potential to be civilian, or independent, and as everyone in Cerberus is aware, we seem unable to lynch.

We had to get votes in quickly (and also I didn't have the ability to sit around and discuss). I voted the guy most willing to read their thread and give us some sweet sweet info.
Sloonei wrote: Sun Mar 04, 2018 12:36 am You guys! Prior to me making this post, the other tribe has literally exactly twice as many posts as us.
That doesn't surprise me.
sig wrote: Sun Mar 04, 2018 10:15 am And I'm just going to throw this idea out there, I think whoever has the button is mafia, since it hasn't been pushed yet. Or it was a night killed player.
Any reason why you think this?
Sloonei wrote: Sun Mar 04, 2018 12:18 pm They aren't aware that their lynches are overriding ours.
:haha:

Ok, I can definitely see DharmaHelper wanting to fight us. Did they know you're there Sloonei?
Sloonei wrote: Sun Mar 04, 2018 1:10 pm Their poll leader was lynched each day with the following vote totals:
Day 1 - 4 votes
Day 2 - 5 votes (2-way tie)
Day 3 - 6 votes
Have they had any players with post restrictions like we've had?

You went from thought me saying something was odd to bad, to it being okay, to it being odd again. And I disliked why you ended up placing a vote. It's almost like you decided it was better to try to lynch me because you panicked when people thought we were w/w. :ponder:
sig wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 12:13 pm Also perhaps lynched players move to the other thread? That would be a cool concept.

nijuukyugou wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:35 pm Fuck it. sig's all over the place. I'm re-reading interactions between him and Sloonei, and he's floundering like crazy. He might be weird, but not usually floundery. I want to have more time to look at the Lorab comparison before I make an uninformed vote in her direction. Pulling the trigger and vote sig. (Did I do that right? Friggin' tags.)
I'm not floundering? I'm just not playing super seriously yet, taking a more laid back approach. I also have very little to say atm, don't have many strong reads. ect

Someone mentioned me flipflopping on Sloonie or something, I think I explained that reasoning very well.
nijuukyugou wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:26 pm Mmmmk so my thought process is this from reading so far:

Sloonei takes suspicion for coming out Sloonei (guns a'blazin', that is) and for flip-flopping a lot. This thought crossed my mind as big fat WIFOM, but I'm thinking he's good and doing the civ thing right now. We don't have enough being said to not play around with words and cast suspicion in places for reaction gauges, so this appears more civ than bad. And it stands out.

sig is being weird and avoiding a lot of simple questions. Is there something else I'm missing? Or are people latching on to whatever weirdness they can get? I totally understand if so, but if that's all it is, I'm not inclined that way, either.

Lorab is, according to Jack, apparently acting like she does when she's bad? How so?

Ugh. Votes and decisions. It's amazing I'm able to play this game at all.

I don't recall ignoring any questions?

Also since Speed was lynched and revealed does that mean he's died twice? Since I seem to recall it saying you don't flip on your first lynch.
One is a response to Sloonei's suspicion. One is an "I'm not happy or mafia" statement. One is commenting on missing the deadline. The other two are commenting on this thread's relation with the other thread.

The problem is, sig isn't the only player with a significant lack of reads or observations on other players in recent time. :sigh:

Marmot wrote: Sat Mar 03, 2018 12:44 pm [VOTE: Scotty] aubergine

If what you muse about is correct Scotty, that means you have a higher likelihood of being anti-town than any other player in this thread.
That is patently and logically false. “Higher likelihood?” No. It’s possibly possible, but not higher chance. I’m already under the impression that this tribe has *at least* one mafia member and maybe even up to 4. And my assumption would be maybe one person switching to mafia for their 2nd role out of the entire player pool. I hypothesize that most everyone would instead switch to civ so as to make the good pool bigger.
So as a matter of conjecture based on that, I actually have a higher likelihood to be town.

Don’t twist my assumptions into logical fallacies.
What are your assumptions?

How do you feel about him now? Also, have you or do you plan on taking a look at Lorab?
